Spies and killers gather as a deadly conspiracy brews. With thousands of lives at stake, players behind the curtain remain shrouded in mystery, indistinguishable as friend or foe. Unleashed into the storm, Case Lee faces a hard reality. Doing the right thing can come with a heavy price.
It started as a simple job, with no earmarks of the coming dangers. The trail starts in Texas, where lies and misdirection mark the moment’s currency. Then off to Spain and Barcelona’s seediest streets, where spies and killers make an unexpected appearance. He’s joined by a peculiar French Interpol cop whose unwelcome participation raises more questions. As lethal activities escalate out of control, answers remain unclear—who is pulling the strings?
Back in Texas, he uncovers a dirty federal agent. Is he a player in the conspiracy? Is the potential attack even real? Answers remain scarce, but Case Lee’s gut says it’s going down. He assembles a rag-tag team to stop it. The good news—his former teammates join him. It’s not their first rodeo.
It’s a wild and wooly struggle, with lovers and friends pulled into a lethal whirlwind. But it’s not over. The final act plays out back in the big city where, undaunted and alone, Case comes face-to-face with the One Big Thing in his world—nothing is ever as it seems.
It’s a simple and valid answer when the question pops up, “Why do you write?”
At the end of the day, it is to tell a good tale.
Vince Milam has lived all over the world, traipsing through the Amazon, Congo, and Papua New Guinea—all the while demonstrating bourbon has medicinal qualities. Raised in Texas, he lives in the mountainous West where he proves—annually—that God doesn’t want us driving on snow. He relishes great reads, fine trout streams, family, old friends, and—especially—writing fast-paced thrillers that keep you up at night.
These books just keep getting better! I just love, love, love Vince Milam.
I have read all the Case Lee books. The action, breath holding battles, all encompassing relief and exile at their conclusions; but at the end of of The Texas Job, an epiphany. The glue in all these books are the characters and what can only be described as the bonds and love between the former Delta warriors. I absolutely love the "cast". Case Lee, our lead. A man wrapped up in family, country and friends and the Guardian of all. Marcus Johnson, the father figure they look to for guidance and support. Juan Antonio Diego Hernandez. I feel myself become one of the characters every time I read this name. " Catch", following behind, the sure shot protecting his fellow warriors. Last, Bo Dickerson the "cosmic cowboy", the force of nature. There don't appear to be enough adjectives to describe Bo. Vince manages to keep the story and action going without the superfluous dialogue and space filling that cause me, in so many cases, to lose interest and discard other books. At the risk of becoming superfluous myself, just read for yourself.
I don’t know how he does it, but Mr Milam’s Case Lee series stays as strong and fresh as ever. Most of the action occurs in Texas with a sidetrip to Barcelona, Spain. Here we are introduced to a fascinating Interpol agent named Francois. A terrorist plot is discovered and Case and his friends must try and stop it, causing run ins with Iranian terrorists and the Sinoloa cartel. Filled with action, intrigue and suspense, this book will keep you begging for more. Highly recommended.
Kindle Unlimited My husband stumbled upon this series and we are both thoroughly enjoying it. The Texas job is the first we have read but the ninth in this series, and is completely stand-alone.
Case Lee is a hard-nosed private investigator hired by his Swiss client for a Texas job, which takes him first to the seedy side of Barcelona. The job will eventually involve him with Iranian spies and Chinese badmen and has a nuclear element. It will necessitate a visit with Jules, a wizened one-eyed information broker who always greets Case with a double-barreled shotgun until he tosses her a supple of black licorice and turns out his pockets. And the job, which seemed so simple, will escalate into a massive deal with the involvement of Case's former Delta team members.
This is an excellent who-done-it with lots of action and occasional dry humor. This is a series I'm going to really enjoy. I am pleased to recommend it to friends and family.

Absolute gem of a book. Previous in the series not necessary for this sweeping, hugely entertaining book to make you take a breath at it’s end to give thanks that there are people willing to make a stand when it’s needed. A fabulous new persona is woven into the tale, that shakes the cobwebs for serial readers who may wonder if it’s got a bit stale? Quite the opposite. The narrative shifts wonderfully through intrigue to action via whimsy and ‘Rolls and Tumbles’ a plausible plot that while this is ‘fiction’ you could be forgiven for thinking it’s not. Special mention along these lines: a late appearing character for whom making a stand means ‘making a stand’. Gritty, intelligent, classy and ultimately thought provoking. A Genre MUST Read with strong recommendation to read all the other Case Lee Novels.
For fans of Clancy, Thor, Flynn, Greaney. Ex-Delta operator Case Lee is a down to earth hero trying his hardest to keep his three ex-Delta squad mates out of his Private Investigator gigs but this installment they all find themselves involved - Big Time. What a book!
It may just be me, but Mr. Milan’s writing style is an absolute treasure. His words are like a fine piece of art. His ability to draw you in and to paint complete pictures of characters in mere sentences is amazing! The writing is just outstanding. The back and forth between characters is downright awe inspiring. This man is talented! And I for one and grateful that he continues to bless us with Case Lee adventures.
Viewers would love the interesting combination of old guys facing the evils of the world. Mom and CC could be just as blind and humorous as Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies. Lots of opportunity for interesting episodes with action against Iranian and Chinese spooks as well as Albanians, Russians, Bulgarians and the Mexican cartels. After reading book 9, I really would like to see Case rehab the old Ace: put in a nice shower, provide comfortable seating for two in the wheelhouse, upgrade the galley and paint the exterior. And then maybe Jess and Case could work on a case together with the colorful Ditch as the backdrop, maybe down in Miami where there is rumored to be a lot of international intrigue and vice.
Case Lee is an action hero but he is also z heroic man. I love his interactions with his beloved mentally challenged younger sister and her dog, Tinker Juarez also with his former Delta team mates, particularly Bo. There is always a lot of action in the books, but for me it is also the well rounded characters. All of that being said, I would have liked a little more interaction with the particular villains of this book, whether it was the Chinese spy - and he was so right about the UCLA/USC look to the Chinese spy - or the Iranian or one of the Americans.
Still head and and shoulders above most of the genre competition
Yes, I know I say this is my favorite Case Lee story each time Vince Milam releases a new book, but it's true. Again this time! The story is solid, with enough bumps and ups and downs to keep the reader totally engaged, and his characters just keep gaining depth with every book. And speaking of characters, the addition of Francois Domaine to the story possibilities brought a big smile, and an out loud cheer. Hmm...haven't we met before. I look forward to seeing Francois again. Congratulation Vince Milam, The Texas Job is another winner.
Up til now I wondered a couple of times how, where and when Case's mother and Jess would meet and how CC would interact. I wonder no more, delightedly. However, this delight happened in the midst of a burgeoning crisis as well. It started off rather innocently. Check out a huge successful petrochemical company. Vase being Case, soon discovered that company is being mismanaged and in financial straits. And Mois agents have made huge ingress in it for some nefarious purpose. Which is when things suddenly started turning for the worse..The Texas Job is a full blown action thriller that will grip your attention in some vice grip and simply refuse to let go. And surprises there are a lot, including a new fascinating character that insisted in bringing himself into the mix, being a Interpol agent, albeit a rather rotund one. Enjoy.
A good fast moving thriller that has Case while doing a research and gather data job having to protect himself from assassins. The encounter with the assassins involving help from a Frenchman working with Interpol lead to them uncovering a plot to cause mass murder in and economic damage to American petrochemical industry. Case requires help from comrades to foil the plot also involving a corrupt federal agent and although a good thriller worth a read some parts are a bit far fetched.
Case and team set out to stop a diabolical terrorist plot. This series has wonderfully unusual characters who grow with each new novel. The writing is crisp and chock full of profound moments. The way the characters interact, learn and grow from each other is a joy to experience. With his ability to pull the reader into the story and evoke emotion, Vince Milam is arguably one of the best writers out there.
This series continues to get better. There is a lot of action, a believable story line, and strong characters. The characters have been developed very well over the books and relationships continue to grow. Case Lee is a thinker. He has feelings about CC and Jess. It’s good to see someone like that as opposed to someone just concerned with running up a body count. I hope this series continues for a long time. Highly recommended.
I would love to meet CC in real life. I know a few CC’s, for what they lack, they more than make up for in pure love and blessed innocence. When I’m around one of my CC’s, the pressures, problems, angst, of career and responsibilities melts away. The world becomes clearer, right and wrong crystal clear. And Love fills my heart. From their sweet spirit, my battle wearied soul, is refreshed. Thanks Vince for reminding me of what is truly important.
Vince Milam delivers great stories in this Case Lee series that always have great twists and turns… Along with an amazing touch of humanity. The characters relationship with his special needs sister is so touching it always pulls at this readers heart strings. I hope there are many more books from Vince in the future. A definite intrigue and lighthearted thriller.
Another fine story from Mr. Milam. If you pay attention to his writing you will be there, wherever he is . His writing draws you into his locations. With the Texas Job I have actually been to most of the locations in this story. Factual account of the locations, very accurate. You can never go wrong reading a book by Vince Milam.
Story is divided into 3, no 4, parts: Paris Wedding Rio Grande Houston More predictable than the other Case Lee stories . Between the lines I read that this sequel is coming to an end. Let’s see if it will be a happy ending or a tragic finale. PS: i like the Francois character. Maybe start a new series around him ?
I appreciate the authors command of the English language whereby he doesn’t see the need nor use forms and vulgar language. Atta not Vince, keep it up. Also he Diane delve into sexuality in the Case Lee series. We’ll done. The story was fluid, thought provoking and intellectually stimulating. I hard a hard time putting it down. I appreciate Vince Milan!
Once again, Vince Milam delivers a rousing and well written adventure. Case Lee's sister, CC, is an important part of these novels. When she and Case are together, it reads !like poetry. If you have never read a Case Lee adventure, you will find out what I am talking about. If you are already a Case Lee fan, you already know what I mean.
Another fine serial from Vince Milam. The usual characters. The additional major character is Francois the rogue Interpol agent who adds wonderful contrast to Case Lee. I hope he is called upon again. This is a good series and if you are a fan of action check it out. Five big stars
As most books of this ilk, a rapidly moving tale of intrigue and skullduggery, with a large dose of extreme action. A wee taste of love, family and seasoned with "men of arms" brotherhood.
A quick read to escape into with a hot cocoa or espresso during the "winter storm".
Great character development and exotic locations bring the reader right into the action. The writing is superb with insights and descriptions not to be rushed. Each new book continues the author’s high standards!
Such a great series. Yes, it's guys with guns kicking butt but, it's so much more. The characters are anything but 2 dimensional and everyone is a little quirky.
Vince Milan weaves a wonderful tapestry of danger, extreme prejudice against terrorism and villainy, brotherhood, and familial love. I eagerly look forward to the next in series.
The prose is flawless, and the storytelling intriguing. Having read all the series now I really appreciate the enhancement of the cumulative effect. A very enjoyable thriller in the continuing saga if Case lee.
Read almost all . Great reads and enjoyable. Like all of the characters. They make it fun. Hope to have more in the future. By the by - been to many of the locations in the books which adds to the flavor.
I never write reviews. This series, however, I could read by the dozens and never tire of it. The characters, old and new, inspire loyalty and I am loyal to Case, Bo, Catch, Marcus, Jess, JJ, Willa, Mom, CC, and Tinker Jaurez.
Case and company never let you down for an exciting and sleepless night adventure. Sleepless because each chapter compels you to the next and the next until it’s over and you notice the sun coming up. Thanks again for a great ride.
This book was exceptional. It's always a treat when all the ex delta crew get together and the blood brothers got together twice in this novel. Once to gather support for a brother's wedding then to aid another when he needed their help the most.
Vince Milam continues to churn out very readable and entertaining books in the Case Lee series. I like this character, his support characters , the plots, the action and the thrills highly recommend
Read all the case Lee books and always enjoy the yarns and the camaraderie between them, the stories always well crafted with international intrigue and conspiracies. Thanks Vince and keep up the great work👏🏻👏🏻
