Daniella was only trying to help keep her roommate safe. Her reward for such heroism? To be snatched up and sold like a bag of pototoes. William Grimm was in the right place at the exact right time when Daniella was dumped at his feet. He could have turned away, let the mess sort itself out, but something about Daniella peaked his interest enough for him to shell out the money to keep her from being traded out to the most dispicable men in Kassel. What was he going to do with her? Would he help her find her missing roommate and the missing stash that caused all the trouble? Now that William had her, would he be able to keep her?
A pretty good short book. I don't think I've heard either of these two people in the other books.... this is Williams and Daniella's story. The first two of the regular part of the stories main characters are mentioned in this book.
Now hopefully I don't read any other books in this series out of order again
3.5 stars I almost didn’t finish this book. I hated the pretense of Danielle being bought and forced into a life she didn’t want. I actually art this book aside for a couple weeks. But, something compelled me to give it another try and I’m glad I did. It’s still all kinds of messes up, but less tragic that I though initially. Danielle is looking for her roommate and has bitten herself mixed up with some bad men. William is there at the right time to help, but he’s forced to purchase her for $50K to keep her from being prostituted. Needless to say, with that purchase, the power dynamics are unequal. But, through their interactions, we learn that while their start is sketchy, there is a possibility of something positive coming out of it. HEED all of the trigger warnings. This is nit a nice and gentle novella, but the author managed to add some tenderness as well. And the sexy sexy times? Whew chile! Super spicy!
Grimm by Measha Stone was a great start to the series! A quick read Dark romance with spice 🔥 The pacing was great and I couldn’t put it down.
Daniella is a innocent school teacher that gets stuck in the crossfires of an underground operation by by being at the wrong place at the wrong time and finds herself being bought by a man named William Grimm. Even though she was sold to the highest bidder she finds herself falling for him because William isn’t as gruff as he seems.
Tropes/vibes: ⚫️ Enemies to lovers ⚫️ Secret society ⚫️ Sp@nkîng ⚫️ Spice ⚫️ Dark Romance
This is a part of the haul I got from a signing event— while I did get this novella for free at the table, all thoughts and opinions are my own
A mafia man with a secret, I liked that. William is a new age mafia boss, I sort of liked him. He rescues a damsel in distress, who turns out has more attitude than he expected.
I felt the feelings came a bit too quick, especially as she wasn't free, but I still enjoyed this read.
“If she knew you were taken and sold because of her, do you think she’d come to your aid? Would she bang down my doors, demanding I set you free?”
A novella introducing the characters of The Ever After Series. Unfortunately it didn’t hit anything out of the park for me and fell short as I have no urge to continue the series.
This one was pretty good. I acquired the whole series as a prize a while back and am just now getting the chance to read them. William and Daniella had some decent chemistry behind the purchase. I didn't like how forceful he was with her, but he made up for it by the end. All in all, a decent intro to the series.
Grimm is the Ever After Prequel and it is Daniella and William's story. It's been a while since I read the Ever After books (can't believe I missed this one) so it was amazing falling back into that world again. This is a quick read but very enjoyable nonetheless.
Very short read. A 1st grade teacher and a crime lord (?) Who's also a writer. I wish this one was longer but I guess I'll just settle for the rest of the series. This one is my first book for this author! Wish me luck lol.
Waste of time. The characters are so one dimensional it isn’t funny. It’s impossible to like anyone in this book. It jumps all over the place and leaves you wondering why you bothered to try to read this mess
I’ve been binging hard on Measha Stone books lately! I cannot get enough!! I love her dark romance stories and this one is no different. William and Daniella are so steamy and sexy whenever they’re together. Love this!!
I love this story. William and Dani are fantastic together. It’s a really good quick read. I will say I am greedy and do want more, but I am beyond pleased with the outcome. The writing and flow of this book is amazing. I absolutely recommend this book.
Damn you have firecracker Daniella, and Alpha William! God they were hot together. The way he was helping her was sweet. But man they definitely push at each other. I loved the ending! Kind of want more of them!
Easy short prequel read to the "Ever After" series.
Some lite BDSM, but I'm not a huge fan.
The story did feel a little rushed in places due to the page count, but you meet the MC for the first book in the early pages and I'm a little intrigued.
William and Daniella story was so good. She was sold to to William and must learn how to survive it. Her friend is missing and she keeps pushing until she gets some answers. William is not the squeaky clean man she thinks or is he? This book was so edgy. I loved it.
Today I devoured this book! An intense love story between a teacher who was sold, and the man who snatched her up. This prequel was an amazing book, that I couldn’t put down and has me anxious to get to the next book, Beast. 4🌶️ 5⭐️
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I really enjoyed this little book. It was a tiny read which is what i enjoy after reading a huge series. I love Measha Stones writing. I kinda wanted more of the Stockholm Syndrome, but i guess im going to have to read Beast for that.
Grimm can be read as a standalone Novella, but is a Prequel to a Mafia, Dark Romance series with Multiple POV's and ends in an HEA.
William and Daniella have great chemistry, but there is a Dom/Sub aspect to their relationship. The power in the relationship starts off as very unbalanced, but balances out towards the end. The plot was fine, and the world building ok, I felt like maybe because this was a prequel there would be more background information. But I guess I have to go read book 1.
This is a dark mafia romance book. Daniella was just trying to help her roomie out and keep a secret safe. Now she has just been "sold" to Grimm. Things could be rougher I guess for her since Grimm isn't bad looking. He is a little tough around the edges but she thinks she likes it. How is this novella going to end for them?
A good setup that didn’t quite payoff as it should have. The hero starts off stern and growly, then folds like a cheap suit. The heroine comes across a little whiney and of course does something stupid. It doesn’t seem to matter in the least to the story that he is Grimm. He doesn’t seem to collect tales and the mention that he is a writer is only in passing. The BDSM elements are extremely weak so I am not sure why they are even there? Still, there is the potential for an interesting world and the story wasn’t awful, it just lacked oomph. I will give the next book a try and hope this one is a fluke.
Grimm (A Dark Captive Romance) by Measha Stone – This is on kindle unlimited. The whole series is full of dark romantic heroes who have just been waiting for the right lady to be their princess! Bit gory but lots of action! Happy Reading!
