There’s no respite to be found – not even in the warm embrace of a love newly blooming. The Bearers are under attack, and so too is Verbank. A murder in their small town turns their world on its axis as Shea unravels new secrets and talents that make her invaluable in the fight for Verbank’s survival. Yet, she is more uncertain than ever if she can help save her town. Especially with her ancestors tearing her apart from the inside and a realm she can hardly understand beckoning her.

Mordai has come for them, again. And Shea can’t shake the feeling that her luck might be running out.

Ivy Whitaker writes paranormal romance and contemporary sapphic love stories designed to make your heart ache in the best way. She’s obsessed with crafting believable characters and throwing them into unbelievable situations—because love is messy, healing is hard, and happily-ever-afters are always worth the fight.

A multi-series, multi-genre author (who has it on good authority from her partners that she’s doing a good job), Ivy lives in Western New York with her partners, her human child, and four demanding fur children. When she’s not writing, she’s probably wrangling chaos, designing something witchy, or drinking a cup of coffee she (almost) forgot she made.

Another fantastic instalment from Ivy here!
Sheas journey is just constantly action packed, we never know what’s going to happen next! This girl cannot catch a break, and honestly, I am here for it!

I was definitely apprehensive for this one after book 3, but Ivy never disappoints!

I can’t wait to find out what book 5 has in store for us, I wish so much that it didn’t have to end!

“It is, and you can start living your life, Shea.”

“With you?”

“With me.”

I picked this quote because it made me smile. It made me smile because of all the things Shea been through . . . she finally got the ending she deserved. She was finally able to breathe, and I freaking loved her growth throughout this series. The character developments in this entire series are mind-blowing. With Shea, Chloe, and Nathan, really.

This is the fourth book in the Dark Path series, and it’s utterly amazing. The way things are explained, the vivid descriptions, and even the magical/action scenes were so well written. Ivy Whitaker does a great job bringing you to the scene, giving you every sense of what’s going on.

This was the book you got tons of information from. I loved the bits with her mom, but even more than that……..HER DAD. Gosh, the excitement I felt when I read he was cancer free . . . was mind blowing! I gasped so loud because he was one of my favorite characters. For some reason, in the back of my head, I kept thinking he was going to die, and it bothered me. But that was the icing on the cake!

Let me talk about Declan. Ah! My heart couldn’t take it at all. Throughout the series, I kept rooting for Nathan and Tyr, but Declan stole my heart and he can keep it. The way he was with Shea, comforting her, telling her he loved her so much, and what he did for her dad……he’s way beyond book boyfriend material. Definitely husband material. Which brings me to that ENDING. Oh my gosh. The smile on my face lasted for a few hours because that was just the most perfect ending I’ve read in a long time. I am just so happy for them because Shea deserves everything. She put up a little fight, and I just adore her, but I love how Declan cares for her. It’s so pure and real, and she needed that.

I loved Nathan’s reaction because it was unlike how he went about things with Tyr, but Declan is just such a good guy. Chloe will always be my girl. But she’s another one that grew so much, and she’s one of my favorites. If not, my favorite!

Overall, this book was beautifully written and closed a lot of doors. Everything made sense, and didn’t leave me confused, or wondering what was going on. I recommend this series to anyone that needs a good PNR read with romance that def pulls at the heartstrings.

The fourth book in the Dark Paths series does not disappoint! The book picks up not long after the third book ends and we have a calmer if not drama filled start to a new chapter for Shea.

Without giving too much away, we see Shea struggling to deal with her love life and the nerve wracking unknowns but also this new magical world she is learning more about.

Chaos ensues in several different ways and Shea once again is thrown into a pit where she has to navigate how to help those closest to her. We see a lot of growth from Shea in the fourth book. Her powers grow, she becomes stronger in different ways as she fights for survival. Fights to protect her home, and her loved ones.

The final battle is nothing short of suspenseful, leaving you sitting at the edge of your seat the entire time. You will be in awe of the events that lead to the end of the book. I will tell you I cried! The last chapters were so emotional I'm not sure I fully recovered yet. If you don't already have a copy of all books in the Dark Paths series, what are you doing?! Get them and fall in love with the character, the story and the world as I have

A nightmare. A promise that it is not over. A crossed line. Blurred lines. Troubled friendships. Can Shea handle it? Can she save the town? Can she find love?

This is the fourth book in the Dark Paths series and needless to say, I am so in love with this series. I want to buy every book Ivy has ever written. This book answered so many questions and finished so many open plots. I read it so fast and now I wish I could read it over.

Shea has flourished so much since book one. She is this beautiful and hardworking character. She takes care of everyone. She fights tooth and nail to protect those closest. She loves and loves hard. Shea never gives up and is a fighter even though she’s shoved into obstacles every day. I have grown to love her.

Declan swoops in at the very end of the last book and you’re left stunned. I grew to love Declan ever since he was introduced. I got the breadcrumbs over the pages and I had a pretty good idea what was to come. I think Declan fits in well and is an amazing character.

I love Chloe and her improved attitude. I remember I used to dislike her a lot. However, she’s made me warm up to her. I honestly can’t wait to see what the future holds for her. Nathan was also another one I had a strong feeling about. He improved as well.

I think this book does a good job tidying everything up and now moving on to the next one. I’m so happy with how this turned out.

Ivy does a remarkable job of not only keeping you interested but making you want more and more. The way she writes is so beautiful. She describes and explains stuff without it being overbearing. She makes the story smooth. The whole story flows well together. I highly recommend picking up this series!

After the ending of book 3, I was so glad I was able to jump right into this!! Holy bananas, the cliffhanger had left me going “WHAT just happened?!”

The action seemed to pick up in book 3 and this drops you right into fairly quickly after a moment of calm. Like any good roller coaster ride, I felt like I was kept at the top and then more dips and twists than I could count.
It felt like Shea had the most support in this part of her journey and it is a marked difference, for me anyway, from where she was with her relationships in the previous books. Whether that is because they have all fought hard for a common purpose, have weathered the storms that may have pushed those relationships to breaking points, or a combination of things, it was wonderful to see the strength there. For Shea especially. And, it was just nice (for the lack of a better word) to see her change from feeling so alone and not sure who to trust at certain points, to see her happy and not strangled by all of the uncertainty of her new magical reality.
There were a lot of things wrapped up that left me feeling pretty content that most everyone seemed settled after all of the dust had settled with Mordai.

A couple of my favorite things:
• The ending was beautiful and gave me all the warm and fuzzy feelings; literally had goosebumps at one point.
• I’m still in love with Declan, he is just so sweet and open with her from day one.

Shea, her friends and family. They have been through some hardships, lost so much grieved and have been put through the wringer. This one was the more emotional of the storylines, characters development and heart to heart conversations that were long overdue and it also answered so many unanswered questions from the previous books.

Having Chloe, her father, the bearers and Declan telling her how much she has sacrificed, how much she is loved and is deserving of love. Was such a impact on who she is as a person. Who has carried all this guilt, feeling like a person who is not deserving of happiness and feeling helpless at times.

I really do adore Declan so much...

But she also grows as her own and reigns in her magic, what she can accomplish with people standing beside her. I like that she knows she needs to let herself accept who she is, who she loves and that you can ask for help and also stand on your own. Even Chloe character development and Nathan's I have loved them in this book. The moment with her mum and dad ( separately) had me in tears.

The fourth installment of The Dark Paths series brought us back straight after the events of book three, and that lovely little cliffhanger Ivy had left us on!

Full of action and constant turns, the gang attempt to rally whatever allies they still have whilst coming to terms with all the bumps along the way.

I am significantly concerned for what book five will bring, after the events of this book. I don't want to leave any spoilers, but I am nerrrrvous!

I will be eagerly awaiting the final installment, but also feel incredibly sad that the journey is almost over! It's been such a ride, and with an amazing cast of characters to go along with it!

Roll on book five! 😭😭😍🥰

The ending seemed a bit rushed and some of the relationships between the characters seemed somewhat out of the blue.
I feel like the scary parts and general creepiness of the other books was completely gone in this one, but the action and fast pace made up for it!
I really like this series and the character development throughout, but I definitely loved the second book the most.

I read this whole series and I could not put it down, well I had to because I had class work and homework to do, but you get the idea. I love Shea’s story and seeing her heal but also go through everything else, damn it felt slightly like a rollercoaster.

If you love paranormal, witches, demons, love both familial and romantic this book series is for you.

Shea and Chloe go through literal hell to try and defeat this demon and amidst all the chaos Shea realizes she is in love with Declan. I love the mix of romance and mystery and magic, this book as well as all of the others in this series pulled me in and kept me hooked!

Ivy Whitaker has done another amazing job!! Highly recommend!!
