Can a Type 6 Alpha defeat the odds and find his Fated Mate?
Roman Erricson, a 24-year-old Type 6 Alpha, is one of the rarest humans on earth, possessing coveted strength, looks, intelligence, and notoriety. Attempting to live a normal life, Roman reluctantly agrees to an arranged mating contract with Peyton, a 20-year-old Type 5 Omega. But Peyton isn’t just anybody. He is the son of one of the richest and most powerful Alphas in the city—Matthew Whitmore. Proudly wearing the badge of the ultimate businessman, Matthew always gets what he wants. Always.
When Fate turns Roman’s life upside down through a chance encounter with a 17-year-old Omega named Mikaél, everyone involved with the Erricson family suffers the fallout. As Roman’s carefully built life begins to unravel with each new revelation, three scientists race to unlock the truth of Roman’s existence and discover how Mikaél may be the key to everything.
This story is complete with budding relationships, continuous reveals, hot/steamy scenes, knotting, mpreg, a layer of science theory, a twist ending to a partial HEA, and a cliffhanger to a planned sequel.

Lucas LaMont lives near the mountains of Colorado and has been a storyteller since childhood. Throughout the years, he has dabbled in fiction and poetry and in his adult writing, most of his focus has been in gay fiction. Recently, he discovered the Omegaverse genre and is obsessed with it! During the Covid pandemic, he found his favorite series to read: The Adrien English Mysteries by Josh Lanyon (But he is very much a fan of several noteworthy Omegaverse authors). When he’s not writing and reading, Lucas loves traveling to fabulous Las Vegas to gamble or staying near the rustic lakes of Minnesota to go fishing. The goal of his writing has always been to focus on the power of relationships and the journey they take. You can find Lucas Lamont on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Wix.
I received an Advance copy; the review is my own. Throughout, without a blip, there is smooth writing, evocative and pictural. No wasted words. The drama and action meter continually dings. The book is set in the near-future, and the futuristic parts are based upon things (such as cultural norms, inner family expectations) we know but do not acknowledge or usually notice. LaMont’s book screams sci fi to me, but is labeled as fantasy. Both are present. A reader will find that the science will drive the plot most of the time, but the reader will not realize it, until the end. To a casual reader, emotions rule and drive the plot, yet the plot runs well without them; they are only partially dependent upon each other. All senses, especially smell, glue the plot threads together, not just introduce scenes or characters. At the beginning there is a character list, and it is the first one with their ages I’ve seen. It did come in handy. The multilayered plot is about our society as much as it is about a romance, expectations, and fear of never finding a fated mate. The legalities around the crime of which Roman claims his innocence work well to justify what he did and didn’t do, and the reactions from those closest to him are telling. It is a pivotal point in the story. But even more dramatic was the scene immediately afterwards with his brothers. So many what-ifs and what-nows are now in the forefront. Is there a downside to this book? No, just that it is the first of this genre I’ve read, and I enjoyed it even though my personal experiences cannot be compared---the writing is stellar and makes relating to the subject unnecessary. My favorite character is Adrian as the peacekeeper, and someone who knew when he had no ammunition to use to force reconciliation or peace. As a reader, he seemed the most sympathetic of the characters. Best summary that describes the theme of the book? …”(you) Hid your own research agenda, deceived countless people in the process, including your now downgraded co-workers, broken several laws—all under the sake of science sealed with a smile?” The story arc runs well, drama at every turn, and still climbing at page 402. The story, despite the complexity, is very well constructed, real, and emotionally satisfying. Overlaying the animal, wolf-instinct makes the climatic scenes more memorable, and unforgiving. And the scientific discovery just makes it all better. The surprise at the end will turn your reaction into a movie loop you’ll play in your head until you’ve gone through all the repercussions. Then you’ll begin the wait to find out which of them occurs next.
Roman's Reckoning: Type 6 is the best omegaverse, dystopian/post-apocalyptic novel I've read. The author, Lucas LaMont did an incredible job of weaving an intricate plot that was so unpredictable but if I were to read again, I would see the pieces of the jigsaw puzzles. The author also did an incredible job of world building of a dystopian and post-apocalyptic in an omegaverse world. The characterizations were also very detailed; I felt all the characters were so in-depth, so multi-demionsional that I felt they were so real. They were all so interesting.
All in all, I'm so excited about this series. Lucas Lamont has become one of my favorite authors with just this one novel. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I'm so excited to read all of their books.

I would like to first start by saying that this is not typically the genre I read, but I met the author at one of his book events and wanted to give his work a chance. And I'm honestly glad I did. There are many authors out there who are merely in it for the money (those who pump out books every few months with little editing and zero fresh creativity, and you can tell those apart immediately), but Lucas seems like he has passion for his work by how invested he is in his writing, and I very much respect that and show my support. We need to encourage more writers like this. Like I said, this is not really my type of story, but sometimes any genre can be entertaining regardless of your taste, and I believe that Lucas knows the art of storytelling. I’ll try to keep this review free of any spoilers, but I do want to at least explain my reasoning for certain thoughts. His narrative and dialogue collaborate almost seamlessly. He doesn't over embellish in the detail department. I appreciate a writer who allows me the chance to paint some of the picture in my own mind. It's the dialogue, in my opinion, that makes this book a fun read. The characters are well fitted with their own unique personalities and characteristics that either compliment or collide with one another to make the dialogue all the more authentic and believable. Peyton is the perfect example of this. His soft-spoken nature gives him that innocent and amiable disposition, and his intriguing and brutal arc shows such a realistic shift in who he evolves into throughout the novel, a character that becomes so layered and honestly my personal favorite. Matthew and Jake really take the spotlight on many occasions because of their written chemistry and how their personalities play off one another. Both have such an overpowering and intimidating presence to them, and to see them butting heads in multiple scenes are hands down my favorite intensive moments as it legitimately made me nervous for Jake’s safety. Even the neutral Dr. Birowack was a perfectly written character in building on more of this world's human/wolf aspect through his inclusion of scientific explanations. In fact, I must say that there were very rare occasions when I felt that the narrative was excessive in droning on about the concepts. This is a story that recreates its own reality, and the author utilized the character's conversations and scenes to uninterruptedly describe this world throughout the novel - thank you for showing and not telling! Now, for the storyline itself. There are some very sexually explicit scenes scattered throughout, and although they did not intrigue me (nothing against them since I know many readers enjoy the inclusion of such as it can enhance the realism and creativity), the character development and main storyline regarding Roman’s struggles with being a rare Type 6 Alpha that threatens his ability in finding his fated mate are what sold me. Most of the character arcs are very well fleshed out and solid, and how each of their plots intertwine with one another makes it all the more interesting and clever. I enjoyed myself teetering on certain emotions between certain character's likable and dislikeable actions, especially with Roman as he felt like such a heated rollercoaster of emotions and a dynamic protagonist, excellently portrayed. The fact that I can go back and forth between rooting for and feeling frustrated toward one specific character means that I got pulled into the plot. This is a good read for anyone who wants a heart-heavy story with a spicy romance and world of powerplay. Seeing that there is a sequel of some kind and possibly a couple other related novels, I will likely be adding another to my library here soon. Keep on writing, Lucas! Thank you for caring about your work! It shows!
Because Roman Erricson, a Type 6 Alpha, is one of the rarest humans on earth, meaning that he possessed strength, looks, intelligence, and notoriety, Matthew Whitmore wanted him contracted to mate his son, Peyton. Peyton is a Type 5 Omega. And apparently Matthew Whitmore always gets what he wants… with an implied “or else” attached to that.
Roman meets an Omega named Mikaél, who appears to be his Fated Mate. Can he break the contract for Peyton? Will Matthew Whitmore retaliate if he does? And what part could Mikaél play in all of this?
I felt like I was having a hard time following parts of the story. There were so many things going on behind the scenes that it was difficult to keep up. But the relationships were easier to follow. Grab your copy and see if Roman and Mikaél can finally be together.
Great world building. Very imaginative concept. Good writing and easy to read novel. 3 stars for that.
Very Poor execution of the romance. Sloppy and lazy storytelling in that department. 1 star for emotional maturity, romance, and illogical conflict resolution.
I really enjoyed this unique and intriguing, dystopian, kind of sci-fi MM story. I loved the intricate world-building and character development, and let me not forget the HOT, steamy scenes. I hate that it ended on a cliffhanger, because I have no idea when the next book will be out, and I want to know what happens NOW. =0

There is so much going on in this story. From contract matings to a fated mate revelation. With so many powerful people involved, what will happen when those who belong together, actually follow their hearts and their fate?
Matthew, Peyton, Roman and Mikael are in for one powerful awakening.

This feel like a ‘setting the scene’ intro, it’s short and not a great deal happens. It introduces more complications to the omega verse, more rules and terms, but not a lot story, it stops before it’s really got going.
