A Mistletoe Mismatch

Rate this book
Christmas comes but once a year—a relief for Jessica Nettle, because that means she need only see the horrid Mr. Webb when he visits his cousin. Jessica has been at war with Mr. Webb for seven long years. What started as innocent pranks accelerated into a war. This year promises to be the worst of all, especially when Jessica learns that her sister is falling in love with that cousin. A match between the two of them would be a disaster. Ellis Webb spends every Christmas in the country with his cousin. The holiday is one of the highlights of his year, despite the prickly Miss Nettle’s attempts to ruin it for him. This year, Ellis’s cousin has a mind to marry, and he’s looking with increasing interest at Miss Nettle’s younger sister. Such a marriage, with such a family, will surely end in disappointment and broken hearts. When Miss Nettle proposes to Ellis that they join forces to keep the ill-fated couple apart, he swallows his irritation and agrees to her plan. Amid the merriment of celebrations, Jessica and Ellis scheme to keep two hearts apart. But as the days pass and the magic of season works upon Jessica, she realizes she may have lost her clever game—and her heart—to her enemy. ★★★ Other books in A Christmas Matchmaker A Wish for Father Christmas by Laura Rollins A Sleighride Kiss by Jen Geigle Johnson A Yorkshire Carol by Jennie Goutet A Mistletoe Mistletoe Mismatch by Sally Britton A Tangled Wreath by Laura Beers

It's Christmas book reading time!!! And I wish you could know just how happy that makes me!!! When I open a Christmas book, all snuggled up with my comfy blanket, I feel like the snow is falling all around me and that I've been transported to a winter wonderland. There's just such a happy feeling surrounding the thoughts of reading and reading Christmas books for me.

Jessica has been working hard for several years to thwart Ellis in her pranks towards him. Ellis can't quite figure out why or what caused their friendship to change to one full of pranks and distrust. But as he once again comes to the neighborhood of Jessica's family home for the holiday season, he tries to gear himself up for all that might ensue.

I loved the vibe of this book. As I was reading and coming to know the secondary characters and listening to them talk about Jessica and Ellis, it almost felt a little like Shakespeare's play, Much Ado About Nothing. Anybody else get that feeling? That is one of my favorite plays by the Bard and the author did a fabulous job writing this story. I loved the tension, frustration and misunderstanding between Jessica and Ellis. And of course when Jessica puts her mind to conspire against the match her sister is heading towards, well who else to be her co-conspirator but Ellis. He has to want to save his cousin from this same match, right? Maybe?

Jessica is full of fun antics, quick wit and hurt. I won't say why the hurt but will say that it definitely drives the plot. I really enjoyed watching her try to navigate her feelings and misperceptions. And the nudges she got from her sister and great aunt.

So many fun scenes that had me smiling and laughing out loud. And of course there were a few that I felt for Jessica as she was hurting and trying to heal. Ellis is oblivious to her inner turmoil but was just so gentle and patient with her.

The play on mistletoe in this book was delightful and it definitely caused some mischief to occur between several characters. You'll enjoy reading and discovering what I mean by mischief. All harmless of course.

This is a book in a collaboration with several other authors. They can all be read as stand alone books but you will find that there is an elderly female character in all of them who is writing to her friend or friends. These elderly females are fun in their antics. I haven't read all of the other books, but a few and they are enjoyable.

Content: Clean.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

There was just something about this one:} I loved it. It was well done. Short stories can leave a bad taste in your mouth with the smashed together, rushed feeling some of them give you. This was just perfect. The love story was well done and gave me all the feels:} It also felt like Christmas and snow and goodness. Just loved this one.
No religion. Proper romance with some kisses.

In the delightful world of Sally Britton's A Mistletoe Mismatch expertly narrated by Sandra Churchill, listeners are whisked away to a Regency winter wonderland adorned with wonderful characters and heartwarming antics.

This friends-to-enemies-to-lovers tale unfolds with a mashup of tropes, offering a unique blend of childhood friends, unrequited love, and mischievous antics. Jessica's determined spirit and quick wit create a compelling dynamic as she navigates a grudge-turned-partnership with Ellis, making for a storyline reminiscent of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. The play on mistletoe adds a delightful touch, causing charming mischief and playful interactions.

The audiobook masterfully captures the essence of Christmas, evoking a festive atmosphere with snowfall, ice skating, and Regency traditions. The secondary characters, including the matchmaking Aunt Temperance, add depth and humor, enhancing the overall experience. The narration by Sandra Churchill complements the narrative, bringing the characters to life with a perfect balance of patience and gentleness.

Jessica's character undergoes a satisfying transformation, shedding her bitterness and allowing the narrative to explore themes of forgiveness and emotional healing.

The sweet banter between Jessica and Ellis, coupled with their compelling journey, creates a captivating audiobook that seamlessly blends love, camaraderie, and holiday cheer.

A Mistletoe Mismatch stands as a testament to Sally Britton's storytelling prowess and offers a delightful listening experience for fans of Regency romance and Christmas tales alike.

I received a download code to listen to A Mistletoe Mismatch via Spotify and Booksprout by Sally Britton. I was not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. The words above are my honest review of this delightful audiobook.

A Mistletoe Mismatch was absolutely delightful! The audio book narration was beautifully done, which made it so enjoyable to listen to.

The story of Jessica and Ellis agreeing to a truce in order to work together to determine if they could keep an engagement from happening between Ellis’ cousin and Jessica’s sister ended up bringing these two characters together over and over again.

What really moved me about this story was learning what had happened seven years earlier that set Jessica against Ellis. My heart broke for the pain that young Jessica experienced. And Ellis seemed to have no idea why Jessica turned on him so long ago and began to instead play mean pranks on him in the remaining years. But what a moment when his eyes were opened to remembering what happened! Oh my heart!

I really liked these two character and enjoyed the entire story, but I especially loved the second half of the book as things began to point at the possibility of deeper feelings for these two former friends. This was such a delightful story to listen to.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Miss Jessica Nettle is prickly, which I found funny–get it? Nettle…prickly. Her prickles really arise when she learns her sister is falling in love and she joins forces with her nemesis, Ellis, to put things to a stop.

Ellis and Jessica have a bristly relationship and their mischievous childhood pranks have turned more intense, but I was THERE.👏🏻FOR.👏🏻IT!👏🏻 Jessica is ruthless and Ellis handles things so well. Although there is an enemies-to-love undercurrent, these two are very fun and likable, and their interactions are everything. Aunt Temperance is the belle of the ball and all the antics left a smile on my face.

The magic of the season, the festive traditions and the swoon made this one so much fun to listen to!

Content: mild romance

This sweet Christmas romance is about a young woman, Jessica, that was once hurt and embarrassed by an older boy she had a crush on. Since then she’s never forgiven him and has played many tricks on him. Yet now that they are both older, can they see each other differently? This is a short novella length book, nice to cozy up with in front of the fire.

This book by Sally Britton was such a fun one! I loved the enemies to lovers story line. And the characters. The matchmaking. And so many little things about it.

Jessica is our main female lead. She is the older sister. And her younger sister, Florence, seems to be falling in love. I loved the way Jessica goes about making sure she really is in love, and not just thinking she is. She enlists Ellis to help her break the two of them apart. Only, Ellis is Jessica’s most hated enemy. At least, that’s what she thinks.

I liked Ellis. He’s the kind of guy who loves to travel. And he’s a really good sport. The pranks that Jessica had played on him for years would have brought a lesser man to his knees. He really has no idea why Jessica seems to dislike him. I loved his humility when he figured it out. He knew he needed to apologize.

There are so many great characters in this one. Aunt Temperance was one of my very favorites. I loved that zany lady and her dog. And her letters to her friend Esther were great as well. It was fun to have a little insight in to what she was thinking about the whole situation.

This book was so great! I loved everything about it.

I was sent an e-copy of A Mistletoe Mismatch as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.

4.75 stars!

This was a fun Enemies to Lovers story! Jessica and Ellis have been at war for years now. They used to be childhood friends but that took a turn one day. When Jessica's sister and Ellis' cousin become besotted with one another, Jessica and Ellis form a truce and try to break up that relationship. Of course, while working together to break up one relationship, they may be forming a love match of their own. Like I said, this was a fun story and very cute. I really enjoyed the main characters, and I liked how Jessica learned that she can't control everyone and to ask the people involved how they feel instead of assuming. Ellis is charming and he figures out a mistake he made with Jessica a long time ago and fixes it, showing he too can learn. I listened to the audiobook and felt the narrator did a great job. Overall, a great clean romance and I definitely recommend!

A very determaned mind always sees itself as being right, and even acts upon those beliefs, which at times could lead to wholly disasteras results. Thank goodness fate or those, who's destiny they are trying to dictate, or whatever, steps in their way, inhibits them from actually achiving their goals!

In the beginning of this story we have two young people having very soft feelings for each other and steadily through out the book keep coming nearer each other. No big drama there. But her sister and his cousin are a totally different story! Jessica has had soft feelings for Ellis since a young age and when she at fifteen thought herself old enough to show her feelings he, unknowingly but still, hurt her feelings deeply and she has never recovered. Instead she keeps giving back at him in a way he can not understand. But the unfolding lovestory of her sister's change the dynamics when Ellis again visit the neighborhood during the Christmas season and she forms plans in her head to stop this love that, as she sees it, can not possibly be true, and takes Ellis on as help.

Jessica's broken heart brought me a sadness that lingered through most of the book, while Ellis's thoughts about his cousin's attempts to persue the young lady of his heart's choice make me laugh.

Ellis's change of feeling towards Jessica finally opened his eyes and mind for other things than his next adventure. Suddenly he can not only understand his cousin, but has to figure out how to make the woman, who has always been a part of his life, to want to take the very most important role in it.

When we look at things we see them through our own linses and form our own views from that place and sometimes we are so totally wrong in our conclusions, so a little humility is never a bad thing. That, I think, is one of the things we learn from this story, as well as that love is forgiving and Christmas is wonderful!

I didn't like Jessica. She was rude and manipulative too far into the story. All because she was embarrassed at age 15 by Ellis, 4 years her senior, under some mistletoe. He thought of her as a kid.
She sets out to block her younger sister's romance because they have known the man all their life in their neighborhood friend group. Not because he is a bad person but because of unkind thoughts of him not being good enough. Not good enough in the way that Marianne Dashwood (Sense and Sensibility) doesn't approve of Edward Ferrars. Marianne never begrudges Elinor's heart her own choice though. Jessica is an immature brat in the body of an older sister. She grows up near the end of the story but not soon enough for me.

It is Christmas book season! I will be honest, I read Christmas stories all year round. They are just too good not to! Once again, here is an amazing book by Sally! A Mistletoe Mismatch is part of a series of standalones by different authors. Of course, I had to read Sally’s!
Jessica is grateful for the Christmas season, except for the horrible Mr. Webb who comes to visit his cousin every year. She has been battling with him for seven years, and it has moved from innocent pranks to a war. When Jessica learns that her sister is falling in love with his cousin, she is certain of incoming disaster. Ellis Webb always spends Christmas  in the country with his cousin and family,  even with the prickly Miss Nettle, it is a highlight of the year. However, this year, his cousin is considering marriage and the younger Miss Nettle. Surely this match  will end in disappointment and broken hearts,  so he joins forces with Jessica to keep them apart. However, as the days pass and the magic begins to work on them, has Jessica lost her game and her heart?
This was so fun! I sometimes have trouble with enemy-to -lovers, because of second-hand embarrassment, and  I just don’t like it when people are mean to each other! However, I did enjoy this. You could see the struggles and antagonism, but it was not outlandish. Jessica was stubborn, intelligent, protective, and had big dreams. She was a great older sister, if a little over protective. She was determined to keep her from heartbreak even if she had to join forces with her enemy. Seeing her get past hurts and slowly learn about Ellis and get to know him again was very touching. She had a lot of dreams that she didn’t think she could have, so she covered it up. She was very careful about how much of her feelings she truly shared although she was very spirited. I  loved her relationship with her sister. They were very close.
Ellis was also very sweet, if a little serious. He had very set ideas of his life, what he expected of love. He was quite sure of what was best for his cousin, similarly to Jessica. He was less antagonistic than she was, but he was also a bit clueless. But Ellis was doing his best and he figured it out eventually!
It was fun to watch them in their plotting and Aunt Temperance was so fun! I loved her and her letters were a great part of the story. It was nice to get to see an outside perspective on the characters. Overall, this is a very enjoyable read that I would recommend to anyone looking for a sweet Christmas story, especially if you like historical fiction. It  is definitely also a great way to get into the holiday spirit!  I think that this is a teens and up book. Itis clean but just not a children’s book.

Sally Britton is definitely a favorite author! So when I found out that she was going to be part of an amazing Christmas series, I couldn’t wait to snatch up this book. A Mistletoe Mismatch is a delightful friends to enemies to lovers story. With a beautiful Christmas setting complete with falling snow and an ice skating pond, enjoyable characters including an adorably feisty matchmaking aunt, fun Regency Christmas traditions, and a compelling love story involving mistletoe, this is definitely one story you’ll want to enjoy this holiday season.

Jessica and Ellis were friends since she was a little girl, up until the time he deeply hurt her feelings at the tender age of 15. Since then, she has become his sworn enemy playing fairly harmless practical jokes on him (like the old fake spider on the sleeve joke) every chance she gets. When her sister Florence falls for Ellis’ cousin Franklin, Jessica decides to put aside her animosity and practical jokes to team up with Ellis to end what they both see as a disastrous courtship. As they work together, they renew their friendship and soon this turns to attraction, but will a repeat of the past ruin their fledgling relationship?

I loved Jessica’s feisty spirit and could understand her hurt. However, I liked the fact that she didn’t remain bitter. Ellis for his part was extremely patient. Poor guy had no clue why Jessica went from an adoring friend to an annoying enemy. I enjoyed their fun banter back and forth and the way their relationship changed and grew. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and it was especially well done in this story.

Along with fabulous characters, I enjoyed the lovely setting and Regency traditions, especially the one of ushering out the old year. I loved the ice skating scene and of course the mistletoe! Highly recommend this and the entire Christmas Match series. I received an advanced copy from the author. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.

Sally likes to write books with characters whose names put me in mind of people I know! Or at least, the last two books from her I have read this has proven to be the case. With this particular book, our protagonist shares my name, which is a fun thing to read! For having one of the most common names in the US for years, I read surprisingly few books whose FMC is named Jessica. So it was fun to read about a Jessica in the Regency era, and even more fun to occasionally find we have things in common (such as her strong desire to protect and look after her younger siblings, especially her sister).

That said, I did think Jessica’s vendetta against Ellis was a bit childish. Though it provided for a really nice character arc. I do understand she had been hurt and I can relate to the desire to protect those wounded feelings. However, I can’t say I understand the mentality that says “he thinks the worst of me so I’m going to prove him right by being terrible.” I guess I’m a bit too rebellious, because I’d go for the opposite. Though I am also unflaggingly stubborn, so in that sense, I related quite a bit to Jessica. Ha! But as I said, it provided for a fantastic character arc and I ended up really liking her long before the end.

Ellis is so patient and generally kind and thoughtful of others! I liked his determination and willingness to admit when he’d been wrong. Though I did disagree with his desire to curb his cousin’s feelings for his neighbor. How rude! But without that, we never would have had the enemies-with-a-common-goal bringing Ellis and Jessica together in this book and forcing them to think about their own feelings for one another. Ah, so lovely.

Aunt Temperance is the best! I love all the elderly ladies and their meddlesome matchmaking ways in this series. Aunt Temperance was particularly lovely as she proved willing to ask difficult questions, which forced Jessica to think deeply about her feelings, but was also amenable to backing down from her original desires. She’s really the best. Case in point: the missing dog. One of my favorite schemes!
Other deliciously lovely things to adore about this book:

A perfect meet cute for another sweet couple that may or may not involve a book shop! Swoon indeed.
Franklin’s metaphors.
Some funny pranks
Strong sisterly bond and friendship.
Some delicious ice skating scenes.
An adorable epilogue.

This has been such a fun series and I love the Christmas spirit it’s bringing to my heart. It’s been such a treat for this season and if you’re looking for some well-written Christmas Regency books, I highly recommend this one!

**Many thanks to the author for the advance copy, which I was offered with option to review. These are my very own thoughts.

This story was so fun and full of so many misunderstandings! Jessica had it out for Ellis from the beginning. She was constantly throwing barbs at him and I wondered about these two and their precarious relationship. Could sworn enemies ever become more? And then there was the meddling of Aunt Tempie! She was a dear and I think everyone needs an Aunt Tempie in their life. I loved the friendship between Jessica and Florence. The two sisters were so different yet they had a beautiful bond. To read a story where their are two relationships going on at the same time was quite enjoyable and it made for great reading. This was a wonderful and fun regency Christmas story! 3.5 ⭐️I really loved this story. Sally gets witty banter and writes such sweet love stories.
💋
I was drawn to this by the title and cover and the blurb. I love enemies to lovers and pranks! But I feel this book wasn’t a true enemies to lovers. And there were no new pranks, only hearing of past ones.
💋
Jessica is childhood friends with her neighbor Franklin and used to run around and play with him and his cousin Ellis. Jessica adored Ellis and one year she hid a mistletoe to catch him under it but instead of a sweet kiss she got a hurtful sting. 7 years later and she’s punished Ellis with pranks. Only he’s not pranking her. So the enemy is only one sided. And hearing some of the pranks were inappropriate via regency times. Jessica drew a spider on his pillowcase that means she went into his bedroom? 🙈
💋
Now Jessica learns her younger sister fancies herself in love and is determined to keep them apart and Jessica gets Ellis to go along. Only they never did anything to keep them apart. I feel either the blurb was very misleading or this book took its own course and a new blurb is needed. There is small moments of matchmaking.
💋
Still I couldn’t put this down and couldn’t wait to see how it would play out with Jessica and Ellis. At one moment, after Jessica overcomes her pride and apologizes, Ellis reflects on Jessica’s kind spirit. Literally we read of her doing nothing kind. She was an unlikable character but I still kept reading.
💋
I enjoyed learning about New Year’s Eve traditions. That was something learn that I’ve read in these holiday regency reads. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.
💋
Sally is an auto buy author and that’ll continue but I just wanted a little more with this story.

Another enjoyable read by this author with all the Christmas magic. Jessica is not a fan of Ellis even though they grew up together. He snubs her as a teen and it involved mistletoe.

Ellis is such a likable character and watching him become aware was lovely. Jessica also has growth and her aunt was the life of the party.

Perfect read for the holidays!

Do you love the Regency era? How about Christmas romances? What about enemies to more or childhood friends to more stories? Sally Britton's latest is all of the above!! Jessica Nettle is far from thrilled to find out that her younger sister Florence has a tendre for their neighbor Franklin Thackery. Jessica's so unhappy about it, she teams up with her "enemy" Ellis Webb, who is Franklin's cousin, to keep Florence and Franklin apart.

This is a fun enemies to love story, and we find out that Jessica and Ellis weren't always enemies. They were actually friends as children, until about 7 years ago, so it's really a friends to enemies to love story, and poor Ellis doesn't consider Jessica an enemy at all. He doesn't know what happened that changed in their relationship, and made Jessica begin to torture him with all manner of pranks.

Jessica is not a shy character. She's pretty fiesty and lives up to her last name--Nettle, especially where Ellis is concerned. Meanwhile Ellis is so patient with her and the poor man doesn't know what caused their relationship to change, let alone know that it was something he'd done. I felt deep down Jessica still had some tender feelings for Ellis or she wouldn't have tortured him so. My favorite side character is Aunt Temperance (Tempie) who is so much fun and full of advice.

You'll want to curl up with a cozy blanket and a mug of hot chocolate while reading this story because there's a snow storm, ice skating on a frozen pond, sleigh rides with blankets and heated bricks, and of course mistletoe balls for kisses. This is a fun Christmas Regency with not one, but two couples getting their happily ever afters.

4.5 stars rounded up. I received a complimentary copy to review. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

DNF at 29%. This book made me sad. For 7 years, she’s loved this guy while keeping it a secret and trying to torment him in retaliation for him stupidly treating her like a child when she was 15. My heart aches for her and I’m not excited for them to team up and fall in love. It feels like too long. Yes, there were young people when this all started but she’s invested too much time in being hurt. I would rather a story where she was hurt, tormented him a little, and then moved on until he woke up.

I’m not in the mood for this right now.

I accidentally started this after clicking the reader of a previous book instead of the author... so I thought it was a mystery at first. Oops.

As far as recency romances by modern authors, it was okay. I mean, it was cheesy, but that's kinda the name of the game.

I enjoyed it as something I didn't have to pay a lot of attention to to get the story while I worked.

Enemies to lovers meets matchmaking meets second chance romance in this sweet Christmas regency novella. The character's motivations made sense and I really felt for Jessica. Ellis was a bit clueless at times, but I loved how he reacted to all the things Jessica threw at him. I also really loved Britton's winter imagery sprinkled throughout. This was a very enjoyable read and really got me in the mood for the holiday season! I haven't read the other books in this series and this book can be read as a stand-alone novella. Highly recommend for fans of sweet romance! 4.5

This is the 4th book in this series that I have read, and I have loved how consistently fun they all are! I loved this enemies to more Christmas romance, and loved all the scheming and back-and-forth between Jessica and Ellis! Sally does a great job with these two characters and I really felt like I knew them and their personalities. There were so many great lines of banter and scenes that really sells the pranks (and pranks of old) in this story! If you’re looking for a fun, quick Christmas read that is sure to make you laugh—then this one is for you!

December 1815, Hertfordshire. A series of gatherings
to celebrate Christmas. Some spiritual references.
Kisses only. The pace was too slow in places.

Ellis & Jessica, neighbors for years, were of the gentry
class. Ellis enjoyed travel, in various parts of the world.
He visited his family IE Franklin etc every Christmas.
Jess wanted to travel.

Jessica noticed her younger sis, Florence, had a marked
preference for neighbor Franklin, cous and like a brother
to Ellis. Jess wanted to nip this in the bud before Flo
experienced a broken heart. She and Ellis discussed this
& they decided this attraction of F+F might die out on its
own. They decided to observe F+F.

Jess ruminated to herself about her "unhappy Christmas"
at age 15 (nearly 7 yrs ago) when Ellis publicly refused to
kiss her under the mistletoe. Why the repetition?

Jess was immature and played pranks on Ellis. She acted
about 7? Ellis seemed too mature for her. IMO this author
has written better stories.

What an absolutely delightful Christmas regency romance!

This was an enemies-to-lovers with a twist! Ellis Webb and Jessica Nettle have a very unique and complicated relationship that becomes even more complicated when they join forces to stop an alliance between his cousin and her sister. Their characters were adorable and I am glad Jessica didn't stay prickly for too long.

I loved all the Christmas and New Years traditions included int he story and that the author explained why they celebrated that way (without sounding like a history textbook). Loved the ice skating scene so much and all the festive holiday gatherings! And what's a Christmas regency romance without swoony mistletoe kisses?

This book had me hooked from the first chapter and is the perfect book to get you in the holiday spirit!

I received a complimentary copy of the book but a positive review was not required.

This was a fun Christmas story. I like how this was a friends to enemies to friends to more story. I enjoyed the pranks that Jessica pulled on Ellis. I liked how the great aunt plays matchmaker along with Jessica’s sister. The situations that they get into are funny. I also like how Jessica has to come and realize that Ellis didn’t know he had hurt her all those years ago and that she needed to let go of her grudge. I like that they were able to develop their friendship and then have more.

I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors.  A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

Regency and Christmas are such a wonderful, magical combination and this one by Sally Britton did not disappoint one bit. This frieinds to enemies to lovers story was so much fun to read and I have to say, my favorite Christmas release this year that I've read. I LOVE this story.

I really enjoyed the setting, out away from London, and the close knit community that makes for a perfect backdrop as Jessica and Ellis truly look at one another and open their hearts to the possibilities of the future. Add Christmas to that and it is complete, the perfect makings for a beautiful Christmas romance. The mistletoe hanging about Jessica's home may also help.

The characters themselves...I thuroughly enjoyed every minute of watching them discover the true feelings of their heart and face each other with those emotions. Jessica is a spirited, feisty, down to heart, passionate young woman who just wants to make it through Christmas, keep Ellis at arms length with her mischievousness and open her sister's eyes...or so she thinks that is what is necessary for her sister to find real happiness. She's been hurt, she's young, and she's going to face the challenges of life as she always has the last few years. Except fate, a sister, and a loving aunt have other ideas and what follows suit is such a beautiful story for her and Ellis.

Jessica experiences a lot of growth throughout this story, a lot of self discovery, and a lot of heart and I loved every second of reading her story. Her character was so real for me, I connected with her on so many levels and honestly, some of the lessons she had to go through and learn really spoke to me on levels that helped even my heart to soften with things in my own life. I love it when authors do that with characters, put all the heart into them, make them so relatable, approachable, that I am not only drawn into the story, but also the lessons they learn throughout. I love Jessica's character and I am so happy with how her story turns out. Especially since it involves Ellis who is tall, handsome and has a bit of growing up to do on his own as well. Such a beautiful Regency Christmas read to carry you into the holiday season. It is a must read for me.

If you haven't read Sally Britton before pick this book up. Every single release of hers this year is at the top of my list for books this year. She is a fantastic author who writes such beautiful, meaningful and swoon worthy sweet romances that melt my heart every time.

"I have learned that love comes in different ways, whether in the quiet of a bookshop or the storm of a young lady's broken heart."
I really enjoyed this delightful holiday love story!
Jessica has recently discovered that her sister has feelings for a childhood friend who she thinks isn't a suitable match for her sister. She decided to propose a truce with Ellis, on whom she had, for reasons unknown to him, declared a prank war many years ago. Ellis is the childhood friend's cousin, and she's convinced that the two of them can help keep their loved ones from making a mistake. As they work together on a common goal, the barriers between them are forgotten and they begin to see possibilities for their future they never expected.
At the beginning of this story, Jessica was someone I was struggling to like, and by the end, she was my favorite character :). Her character's journey was so well written, and I loved seeing her grow. Ellis' character made me smile. I would get so frustrated with him, and then realize it's so like a man to forget or not remember something that meant a lot to a woman :). I loved how real the characters felt. I have enjoyed this series, and the ties of the older women who have banded together to matchmake during the holiday season.
The romance was swoony- the kiss under the mistletoe- iykyk :)
You will definitely want to pick up this one during the holidays to cuddle up and read!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Christmas comes but once a year -- a relief for Jessica Nettle, because that means she need only see the horrid Mr. Webb when he visits his cousin. Jessica has been at war with Mr. Webb for as long as she can remember. What started as children playing pranks has grown to a competitive feud. This year promises to be the worst of all, especially when Jessica learns that her sister is falling in love with that cousin. A match between the two of them would be a disaster.
Ellis Webb spends every Christmas in the country with his cousin. The holiday is one of the highlights of his year, despite the prickly Miss Nettle's attempts to ruin it for him. This year, Ellis's cousin has a mind to marry, and he's looking with increasing interest at Miss Nettle's younger sister. Such a marriage, with such a family, will surely end in disappointment and broken hearts. When Miss Nettle proposes to Ellis that they join forces to keep the ill-fated couple apart, he swallows his distaste and agrees to her plan.
Ellis and Jessica are a perfect couple considering their background and the love that they share.
They have been working on their own happily ever after. Sally Britton writes a witty and good romance.

I received this book as a copy to read, henceforth my opinions belong to me:)

Pros: I really did enjoy this book! There was enough banter, pranks,a noise/loving Aunt, and sweet clean budding romance times 2! It’s set during the best time of the year! CHRISTMAS!! I would rate it as a Christmas Hallmark movie type of book. Meaning, grab a cup of tea and your favorite blanket!! And just saying, you really need to watch for mistletoe this Christmas season! You will never know what could happen.

Cons: I am COMPLETELY spoiled by Sally’s other book SETS! I love how she writes her characters with so many layers and depth, but I just feel that I was disconnected with the characters in this book:)But I totally get she DOESN’T have the time in 1 book to build a would like the Inglewood series:):)

Over all….
Will I buy it in paper back?—-UM, YES!!
Is it worth the price? Yes
Have I read her other works? YES
Do I personally own/ bought with my own money, her books? Yes!
