Light My Way is a short story about a lonely lighthouse keeper/park ranger who is also a strong medium and a ghost of a young man from the 1950s who was murdered.

Jon has been saving the lives of people around the area and has sort of gained a reputation and lore around him. Monty is a sweet soul who wants to settle down and find love.

Jon's life was cut short when a mobster murdered him after he and his partner were blackmailed once their relationship was discovered. This was in the 1950s, so being outed would not only damage your reputation and career (Jon was a stuntman in films), it could also mean your life was at risk.

I found their story to be cute, and while short, I think the author did a good job of not making their relationship feels so rushed. I would say the story is not really spicy because, let's be honest, how many ways can one be intimate with a ghost without a physical body? However, when the intimate moment does happen - well, let's say it was a creative workaround.

I randomly picked up this novella because the blurb really intrigued me. However, I was soon reminded why I tend to avoid books about ghosts because I get sad, even if it ends in a seemingly happy ending (?). It just seems bittersweet to me. I remember having my heart torn to bits after reading Hotarubi no Mori e (Forest of Fireflies' Light) by Yuki Midorikawa, so I haven't touched another story about a human falling in love with a spirit/ghost in a long time. I doubt I will read the rest of the books in the series ONLY because it is me thing. I can't handle being sad, and this kind of thing gets stuck in my mind.

Overall it was a (bitter) sweet novella, and despite my own personal issues, I enjoyed it. While it is part of a series it can be read as a standalone!

When I read the blurb on this one, I knew I wanted to read it, cause ghosts are my jam, but I wasnt sure if I would be missing anything since I had not read any other book in the series.

I am happy to say that it was absolutely a stand alone.

Spoilers ahead

So in here we have Monty. A bear with a gentle soul who also can see the departed souls as he was a medium. He is a park ranger who's next assignment was at the lighthouse in Cape May, NJ. And yall, I live in Jersey and I could hear the accents. It was awesome.

Jon was a stunt man in the 50's when it was not safe to be gay. His partner, a movie actor, was killed by getting involved with the mob (this is Jersey after all) but before he died, he let slip that he and Jon were lovers. The mob guys blackmailed Jon into being a courier. The night that Jon decided to take the money and run, they killed him on the beach right next to the Lighthouse.

Slowly but surely, these two fell in love. Jon was known to the locals as being the ghost who saved people. One day, he saved a diver but used to much energy that he disappeared. Monty did not know what happened and was in mourning.

They eventually get back together when Jon was able to return and had ghost phone sex. The ghost went inside Monty and had Monty get off and they both enjoyed it.

Letting Jon possess him was like an I-was-afraid-I’d-never-see-you-again bear hug on a cellular level. Monty couldn’t feel physical arms embracing him, but Jon didn’t try to hide what he thought or felt. Monty did his best to be just as open, not wanting anything to go unspoken. For a long time, he just stood there, soaking up the reality of Jon’s presence, letting his heart begin to heal.

I’ve never exactly done this, Monty confessed, thinking at Jon instead of speaking aloud because it seemed more intimate, knowing Jon could feel his nervousness.

Been with a man?

Had sex with a ghost.

Just do what makes you feel good. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, Jon replied, and Monty didn’t need to see his face to catch his smirk.

Slow down, Jon instructed in a low, sexy tone that sent a shiver through Monty.

Consider it foreplay. Linger.

Gotta admit, I’m kinda self-conscious.

Don’t be. You’re perfect just the way you are. Now how about taking those clothes off in front of a mirror so I can enjoy the view?

Bottom or top? “A little of both. I like to switch.”

Huh. I just figured—

“Yeah. Everyone does. I don’t think I’m more macho if I top, or less of a man if I bottom. They both feel good in different ways. I like that— and I like to give both to my partner.”

Get yourself off, Monty. Let me see you, hear you, feel you come.

That’s it. So beautiful. So sexy.

Maybe next time we can do a full possession where you’re in the driver’s seat so you can control what my body actually does to,um, me.”

You trust me that much?

“I love you. And yes, I do.”

I really enjoyed this one and will be reading other books in this series.

This is the first ghost/human romance I’ve read, and I really enjoyed it. I was wondering how they would make anything work between them beyond a platonic friendship, but went into the story with an open mind knowing this would be an unconventional pairing.

Both Monty and Jon are characters you can feel for. Monty is so sweet, and I just wanted to wrap him up in a big hug. As a ghost, Jon already had my sympathy, but even more so once I discovered his backstory. These two becoming friends first eases you into things, but later as they grew to mean more to each other it did take a little bit to get used to such an unusual relationship.

There may be some who think “why bother when you can find someone alive?”, but not everyone can find that other person - and in the end, the heart wants what the heart wants…even if others can’t understand it. This story celebrates that, while also throwing in some angst along the way so you really want things to end up all right between these two wonderful men.

I thought this story was very well done, creative, and unique. Monty and Jon are perfect together, and as long as they are happy that’s all that matters. It makes for a great read, and I’m giving Light My Way Home 4.5 stars. Oh, and if you think there could never be anything physical between them…yeah, well this one I’d recommend for 18+ for a bit of adult content ;-)

I’ve loved all the offerings that I’ve read so far in the My Book Boyfriend’s Boyfriend free reads. Picking up this one was a no-brainer for me though because ever since Monty and Jon were introduced in Blink, I’ve wanted to get their back story. Which brings up another point, even though this novella is numbered 1.5, I’d wait to read it after reading Blink – if you’re planning on reading the rest of the series – which I strongly suggest. If not, it will read fine as a standalone. 😉

For the record, I wasn’t disappointed with Jon and Monty’s story. It was a great to get their back story and discover how they “met” and gain a little bit more perspective into the events that took place in Blink. I really can’t wait for this series to continue.

DNF at 33%

• so much random background for both alive and dead guy, can’t see how any of it matters to the story

• instalust, like damn, chill

• the internal monologue was written so painfully, I hate when it’s a separate little dingus self-conversation in italics, so unnatural

• bored

This is an origin story, written after the fact but occurring before the other Treasure Trail books. It is labeled as 1.5, meaning it comes after Treasure Trail but before Blink. If you’ve read those books already you will be familiar with Monty and Jon. If you haven’t and you are looking to read the books in order I would still read book 2 (Blink) before reading this novella. Even though numerically it comes before I think it’s easier to appreciate Jon’s background if you’ve read that book first, especially since it will avoid spoilers.

Monty is such a sweet character and the writing is so evocative I could feel his loneliness like it was my own. We don’t get as much of Jon’s personality but we can still understand his longing as well. The development of the relationship is tender and the crisis is so gut wrenching.

I loved the ending and I hope we are going to see a lot more of these characters in future books in the series.

3.5 stars 👻 A good short ghost romance.
Monty was a lighthouse keeper who ran ghost tours in his new role of park ranger. All ways seeing ghosts since his young years he spotted a ghost on the beach. A fast connection with a ghost at first sighting.
Jon was a stuntman but a dead one over 70 years who loved to scare off pretend psychics. I have to laugh at those scenes.
Monty and Jon form a friendship that becomes more. A fast paced novella written in 3 person in their thoughts which I though was wearied.
A relationship between a human and a ghost had its challenges especially with Jon rescuing people. Ive read this authors books before but not this series so I’d read this as a standalone.

I was very happy to get Monty and Jon's. We got glimpeses of them in prior Treasure Trail stories, of which I have read both stories. Monty is a medium and lets Jon inhabit his body for a bit. Its a lovely romance with watching movies where Jon tells Monty the behind the scenes action. When Jon helps a trapped diver and disappears for a month, Monty's heart is breaking and so did mine! I really enjoyed this story.

"Light My Way Home" is a tiny novella set in an amazing world of urban fantasy novels written by Morgan Brice/Gail Z. Martin. People who follow all those exciting adventures of the author's characters, especially those known to us from the "Treasure Trail" series, already know the main characters of "Light My Way Home". However, I believe it's important to point out that only in this novella we have the opportunity to get to know Monty and Jon for real and learn a lot more about their relationship and its story. All that makes this story essential for every fan of the author.

However, equally important is the fact that we do not need to know the earlier works of Morgan Brice to read and fully enjoy "Light My Way Home". This short story is the perfect first encounter with Monty and Jon and it shows all new readers what to expect from the author's novels and her world.

This novella is therefore an ideal one for both people who have already read some author's works and know her characters, as well as those who are just beginning their adventure in the vast, wonderful world created by Morgan Brice.

Okay, but what's so special about "Light My Way Home", you ask. Well, Monty and Jon are extraordinary heroes that are not so easy to find in other novels. The story of their love is undoubtedly rare and very romantic. In the ordinary world, these two would not have the right to meet, as there is much more that separates them than in the case of any average lovers. However, at the same time they have no less in common, thanks to which they have the strength and courage to take up the challenge and face normality by becoming a couple that will never be forgotten. As you could see in this novella, for true feeling there are no insurmountable obstacles.

In short, Morgan Brice has written a unique novella in which the characters are one of a kind. Give Jon and Monty's extraordinary love a chance and you won't regret it as you'll fall in love with "Light My Way Home". Believe me, this story is irresistible.

I love Morgan Brice and have read almost all of her paranormals. I truly wanted to love this book, too. I just think the topic stretched my imagination a little too thin. I  never got on board with a man being attracted to and craving a relationship with a ghost.

The novella was well written, and Ms. Morgan does paint a vivid picture of her characters. Monty is a park ranger and maintains a lighthouse. He loves and excels at his job. He is also a medium and has always seen ghosts. This neck of the woods provides him with plenty of opportunities.

Jon died decades ago and has chosen to remain where he passed rather than move on. He was a stuntman and still has strong memories of his past. When a man approaches him and starts up a conversation, Jon is stunned that he can be seen.

The two form a friendship, and Monty is very smitten. The feeling is mutual with Jon. I tried really hard, but I just couldn’t see this as an authentic relationship. On a strong note, Ms. Morgan has some unique twists and interesting scenes. This book may not be one I will revisit, but it might work for you. It is definitely an innovative storyline, and I admire her creativity. Happy reading!

A different kind of ghost story.

Light My Way Home was part of 2022’s Your Book Boyfriend’s Boyfriend Prolific Works giveaway and now Morgan Brice has released it for wide distribution. I didn’t read the book during the giveaway ☹ but that wasn’t because I didn’t want to; I just never made the time. I love Morgan Brice’s many worlds so I was happy that my commitment to do a blog tour finally gave me the push I needed to read it. Why did I wait so long??!!

If you’ve already read Morgan’s other two books in the Treasure Trail series you will probably recognize the MCs in this story. Light My Way Home actually takes place before Blink but it doesn’t really matter what order you read them in. This is the story of how lighthouse keeper Monty and Jon the ghost came to be together.

There are a lot of feels in this story: from how Monty and Jon meet and grow closer together, how we learn what happened to Jon and why he’s still a ghost, and the thing that almost tears them apart. Light My Way home isn’t a long story but it made an impact and I loved reading it.

An advanced copy of this book was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Independent reviewer for GRR, i was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 1.5 in the Treasure Trail series. I have not read book one, and I think this can totally stand alone from books one and two. I didn't feel I missed anything by not reading book one.

I really enjoyed this, and I was surprised by what I enjoyed the most!

The ending!

Because while Jon and Monty are happy, Jon is still a ghost and will remain so. Even though he and Monty are able to be intimate in a way I did not expect, and they were able to get the truth about Jon's murder, he still remains in ghost form.

And for some bizarre reason known only to my book brain, I LOVED that!

Most other ghost romances have resulted in the ghost becoming alive again, and this does not do that, and I really want more of these two and what they get up to!

The nun, too, sparks many MANY questions my book brain cannot find words to ask! I can only assume she pops up in book one, but there is a little explanation about her and the convent and what they do.

There is a bit at the end of the book that says there will be more of Jon and Monty, and the nun whose name I cannot recall (sorry!) and I can't wait to read about them!

4 good solid stars

I’ve read and reviewed a couple of books by the author, so when this came up, I was all for it. Light My Way Home is a short read, and I’d class this prequel under short story romances. I haven’t read the Treasure Trail series, so I thought this would a good start—coming to the prequel where it all began.

Monty is a park ranger who can contact the dead, and even see them. He lives a lonely life in New Jersey, taking solace in the lighthouse that is the main attraction at the park. One day he sees someone sitting on the rocks…

Jon was murdered seventy years ago. A stuntman and part of the movie industry, he’s never moved on after his death, but spends his time saving people from drowning. He’s also feeling lost after losing his lover.

This was a well-thought-out romance with the two connecting over movies, chemistry, and friendship. There is even an “oh no” moment that I won’t give away, that left me wondering what would happen next.

I always enjoy Morgan’s works since I know nothing about the paranormal and she has this wonderful way of teaching the reader how it all works, and it’s buried in the plot, instead of outright exposition.

It’s a great start to the series, and a read I recommend.

“Light My Way Home” by Morgan Brice is a novella in the ‘Treasure Trail’ series and features Monty, a lighthouse keeper who has the ability to see ghosts. This is an unexpected benefit for Jon Richards, a ghost who is shocked that someone can actually communicate with him. The connection between the men deepens, and Monty becomes invested in finding justice for Jon, and searches for a way for them to be together.

This adult gay paranormal romance story is engaging and fun to read, even if you’re new to the series. Even though this is a fairly short tale, each man became distinct in my mind, and I was anxious to see how they could find a way to be together. I was impressed by the excitement generated by Jon’s selfless actions, and loved the twists and turns of the story. I enjoy this author’s interconnected series, and I am always delighted to find out there’s a new story to savor, and this one whetted my appetite for even more adventures.

This was my first book by Morgan Brice and I was really surprised by their unique take on ghosts.
The story follows Monty, lighthouse keeper and medium who moved to a new town a while ago. Said town is known for many ghost sightings. And Monty, being a medium, soon realizes their is truth in those stories. Not only can he feel, see and talk to ghosts, he can also channel them - which was VERY intriguing. Enter Jon, former movie stunt men.
Although due to its length the book only touches the surface, I liked their dynamic and was quite surprised how the author managed to create sexy times between living human and ghost.
I’d have loved to get a bit more in depth and see more of Monty and Jon. Still, Light My Way Home is a sweet but short story with very likeable characters and a unique take on interacting with ghosts.

ARC received from GRR for an honest review.

Monty is the new lighthouse keeper. He also happens to be a medium. When he sees Jon sitting at the beach he approaches and says hi. That scares Jon away but not for long.

Jon is a ghost who's been trolling the beach for 70 years. He occasionally does a good deed but it's lonely. When he's approached by Monty he's startled and fades away, but it doesn't take long to realize spending time with Monty can make life fun again.

This is a well written fantasy, romance with a little mystery. This is a sweet, very short story that has that feel good feeling to it. Jon and Monty are two lonely men that fit together perfectly. They have a lot in common and great chemistry. They find a way to make things work. I wanted more because it felt like their story was just starting and then it ended.

Monty Clark is the park ranger for Cape May Lighthouse. He is also the tour guide and works on improving the museum. He wishes he had someone in his life, someone who can accept the fact that he is a psychic medium. He discovers a ghost on the beach who turns out to be Jon Richards, a stuntman who was murdered on the beach in the 1950s. Eventually the two strike up a conversation and soon they are sharing movies and books and games. Both men discover that love comes no matter who you are.

Light My Way Home is excellently done. Morgan Brice is truly a gifted storyteller. She takes two unlikely heroes and gives them true love. Both were hesitant but they had to find a way to succeed. Their path is rocky and there was some despair when Jon disappeared for a bit. Jon was known as the ghost savior on the beach area. A beautiful love story, be sure to pick this one.

🌊Brief & original😊

4-4.5🌟 stars
Great plot, endearing characters, slowburn: good read.

I was not expecting the original take this novella presented on befriending a ghost. I was enchanted by the way the two MCs' relationship developed and moved by Jon the ghost's overwhelming desire to protect the living in danger in the beachside area he haunted. And Monty, the loner gay park ranger with psychic powers who befriends Jon, was a sweetheart yearning for a companion. All around enjoyable romance.

I don't believe I've read any other stories by this author but I will be looking for them in future.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

This novela gives us the somewhat unconventional courtship of Monty (lighthouse keeper and medium, very much among the living) and Jon (former stuntman, current ghost haunting the beach near Monty's lighthouse.) While they face some challenges and there is a tear-inducing moment or two, for the most part this is a sweet, heartwarming story about two kind souls who make each other happy. It helps, though it's not strictly necessary to enjoy the story, to have read other books set in this world– some of the events of Jon's past, for example, get more treatment there. All in all, an enjoyable read with likable characters who absolutely deserve their HEA.

This is a cute novella in the Treasure Trail 'verse, although it can be read as a standalone. Monty is a park ranger with psychic abilities working at the Cape May lighthouse, and Jon is a movie stuntman who was murdered in the 1950s and now his ghost roams the beach. When Jon discovers that Monty can see him and talk to him, they strike an unlikely friendship that slowly morphs into more.

You might need to suspend your disbelief a bit while reading this book, but it really is a sweet slow romance between Monty and Jon. Their relationship had its challenges but they worked through them and the ending was satisfying.

I love anything by Morgan Brice, but this one is just too short. I want more. I do recommend reading at least Treasure Trail before this novella. It's not absolutely necessary, but it will give some background to this world. I loved the initial meet-up between Jon and Monty. (Isn't it the ghosts who are supposed to scare the living, not vice versa? LOL) This is a sweet, medium-angst bit of insta love, and I enjoyed it and seeing these two lonely souls come together. I am always intrigued to see how an author brings a corporeal and a non-corporeal character together and if it works. I loved their love, and I hope we see more of them in future books.

This was a cute quick read, the story is about Monty, the lighthouse keeper when he was just taking the job. He is lonely and wishes to have someone by his side, his best friend is certain that his better half is there and just has to wait. Jon has been dead for decades and is famous for rescuing people from drowning, he has met mediums before and is not particularly fan of them, so when Monty approaches him he disappears on him. Monty keeps trying to connect with Jon and then form an unusual friendship.

I have to say that even if it was cute it left me with the impression that the story was unfinished. This story is supposed to happen before the story in book 1 and sets up part of the plot for book 2. I originally thought that their story was going to continue in book 2 but it's completely separated from it which was a letdown. We'll see if the author develops their story further, I really want them to be able to experiment everything together, but we'll see what the author sets up for these characters.

A Short Sweet MM Ghost Romance
Monty and Jon's story

This is from the treasure trail series and can be read as a standalone - However, I firmly believe that it will make more sense and you will better be able to connect with the characters if you read the first book - though it is not necessary

Ever wondered if a ghost 👻 and a human could have a relationship?
If the universe would grant such a gift?
How would it work?

This an Insta attraction mm paranormal romance
There is some light angst
Sweet steam
A heroic ghost
An introverted lighthouse keeper
Some irritating bad guys
A psychic bestie
And the cutest HEA

Monty is a park ranger and the new lighthouse keeper. Jon is a ghost that has been inhabiting the area near the light house for seven decades. With Monty being a medium enabling him to see Jon, they strike up a conversation, get to know each other, and start to fall for each other. Who says you need to be alive to fall in love?

This was a good book. It was a little hard to wrap my head around a ghost being able to fall in love and for someone to love them back. The characters are well developed and there are plenty of details to keep it interesting and worth reading. This was a short but well written book.

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I enjoyed this book. It was an interesting and sweet quick read. I really liked both Monty and Jon and loved seeing how a friendship and then love would work between them with one being a ghost while the other was still alive. The ending, while happy, was abrupt and I didn't expect to end there. I clicked to start the next chapter but it was over. The afterward mentions this story takes place in between two other books. This is the first book I've read by this author and I thought it was a standalone, but I'll look out for these other two books because I'm not ready to let these characters go yet. 4 stars.

A short but sweet origin for two new characters (Monty: Human & Jon: Ghost) in the Treasure Trail series. The idea of falling in love with a ghost is a bit unorthodox, but Morgan Brice has made it seem doable with Monty being a full-on Medium who can allow Jon to “ride his body” and feel sensations while doing so. Both will presumably have further appearances in the TT series, and I look forward to getting to know these characters better in the future.

Note: Neither Ben nor Eric, the two MCs from TT appear in this novella

This was okay, medium who runs a lighthouse in a notoriously haunted town meets ghost who died 70 years ago, falls in love. The ghost was a movie stuntman who was killed when he was being blackmailed by the mob and they also killed his actor lover. It was sweet as he got to know that being gay is now more accepted. There was some drama when he over does it saving some diver and disappears for a while. But I'm always skeptical about a relationship between a ghost and a human when they can't really touch. It was okay.
