I am no expert in the matter. And this topic is not something that could be discussed in a 100 page book and finish off. But the author brings in various myths and tries to comprehend it through the prism of what is known and adding some imagination. In doing so he is not very convincing as he forgets to put in citations and any commendable proof to his ideas. I think he should write a more comprehensive book with all the missing links if he wants to convince his readers

ക്ഷേത്രം തീവെപ്പ്, ഉടമസ്ഥതയെച്ചൊല്ലിയുള്ള അവകാശതര്‍ക്കം, കൊടിമരവിവാദം, യുവതീപ്രവേശനമുള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള ആചാരസംബന്ധിയായ പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ ഒരുപാട് വിവാദങ്ങള്‍ ശബരിമലയെ ചുറ്റിപ്പറ്റി ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഈ കാണുന്ന എല്ലാ വിവാദങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ആണിക്കല്ലായ ഒരു പ്രശ്‌നം ശബരിമലയെക്കുറിച്ച് നിലനില്‍ക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. അത് മറ്റൊന്നുമല്ല ശബരിമലയിലെ മൂര്‍ത്തി ആരാണ് എന്നതാണ്. ഏതു മൂര്‍ത്തീഭാവം ആണ് ശബരിമലയില്‍ ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്? ആ മൂര്‍ത്തിയെ ആരാധിച്ചിരുന്നവര്‍ ആരാണ്? ഏതു വിധാനത്തില്‍ ആണ് പൂജാദികാര്യങ്ങള്‍ നടന്നിരുന്നത്? എന്ത് സമ്പ്രദായത്തില്‍ ആണ് ആ സങ്കേതം നിലനിന്നത്? എന്നു തുടങ്ങി ഇന്നും നിലയ്ക്കാത്ത വിവാദങ്ങള്‍ക്കു സ്രോതസ്സായി ശബരിമലയിലെ മൂര്‍ത്തിയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള അവ്യക്തത നിലനില്‍ക്കുന്നു. ചരിത്രത്തിന്റെയും പുരാവൃത്തത്തിന്റെയും ഇടയിൽ കുടുങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്ന സത്യത്തിന്റെ അംശങ്ങളെ ചേര്‍ത്തുവായിക്കാനാണ് ഈ പുസ്തകം ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത്. ശബരിമലയിലെ മൂര്‍ത്തി സാക്ഷാല്‍ കുട്ടിച്ചാത്തന്‍ എന്ന പുകള്‍പെറ്റ ചാത്തനാണെന്നാണ് ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ വാദം.
