Daniel undergoes the biggest test of his young life, and his parents go to great lengths to help make his dream happen by guiding him through the transition from child to adult.
This book depicts the enormous commitment, undeniable courage, and never-ending challenges a recruit faces to become a life-long member of one of the world's most elite fighting forces.
It is a journey like no other. With lots of love, tears, and laughter along the way, find out if Dan has what it takes to become a Royal Marines Commando?
What a fantastic book, I just couldn’t put it down, and read it in 2 sessions. I felt every up and down that this remarkable young man and his Parents went through, willing him on to do well and pass the next exercise. Not once did he stop thinking about others, getting up early to wipe the monkey bars before his troop mate attempts his final test is a true reflection of Dan and his attitude to others. As a recruiter of Royal Marines, I am going to recommend this book to my candidates, many of whom don’t make it to Lympstone. What remarkable young man you I am sure will continue to do well and be an excellent Royal Marine.
A great perspective from a Mum who’s son achieved his dream. From the lows (sometimes very low) to the highs (sometimes extreme) to overcome barriers, hurdles, injuries and exhaustion takes pure guts and determination! A great inspiring book for anyone wanting to embark on the Royal Marine Journey and an insight for family and friends and the other journey they also go on! “It’s tough being a Royal Marine. Try being a Royal Marine Mum!”
