Ok, I got hooked on this book by the excerpt. I dove right in and loved almost every moment of it. It was a nice twist to the Cinderella story and had me flipping through the pages quickly. Very impressive of the author to write this in high school. I didn't give it a full five stars due to a difference of taste the author and I have. I would have loved the story to end happily, but instead, it continues into two more books. This isn't the bad part. Some authors make their characters go through several books. The problem I have is that I want a happy ending. I want the couple I cheer for to end up together. I get these characters are high schoolers and have a lot of growing up to do, but I read for the escape, and I don't want real life in my books if it means my hero and heroine can't or won't get together. I married my high school sweetheart, and we stayed faithful through a long-distance relationship and still survived. I understand that this isn't necessarily the norm, but now I have to go to a new site, "Radish," and pay for the continuation of the story of Talia and Sebastian. It's the author's prerogative to drag her story on forever, but I want an end to a book to feel complete, and I want it happy, dang it! So while I love this story, I can't accept the never-ending story that constantly leaves me craving for an end. Sometimes it's better to stop a story and start new versus having it drawn out. Again, the author did a great job, but I just disagree with the style choice of the never-ending narrative with no happy ending in sight.

Update: Two years later and the book has 179+ chapters with no end in sight. I, personally, find this process annoying. However, if you are a soap opera lover and like the on-going story line, then this book is a perfect antidote for that.

I loved reading this story line. I liked how they went from enemies to lovers. But I am highly disappointed with the ending. Did they end up being a couple in the end of the story? You have to go to another app to finish the series and find out if they end up together but its an expensive site to use. So I feel the writer left us hanging with no closure to this story. Other than that it was a well written book, with plot twist you would not expect keeping you interested and not wanting to put the book down!

Hi! I wrote this book! Here are some things I think you should know about it:

ONCE UPON A ONE NIGHT MISTAKE is a Young Adult book with romantic elements (and lots of drama). Please note that it is not adult Romance and adjust your expectations accordingly!

OUAONM got its start online (FictionPress, Wattpad, Radish Fiction) and Radish—the publisher for OUAONM—has decided to make the book available on various other platforms so that more people can find it!

The book available for purchase from various retailers is "Season 1" of the story available on the Radish app, where there is more content (aka "seasons") available to read. However, you're under no obligation to read those chapters—consider them fun bonus content! The book available for purchase is complete and has an ending. However, if you don't like the hopeful open endings that many YA books have that allow the reader to imagine where the characters go in their lives as they become adults, this book may not appeal to you.

The ensuing seasons on Radish (which, again, is purely bonus content) continue to show the journeys of *all* the characters from OUAONM and fill in the timeline gaps of the entire Fairytale Series, of which OUAONM is Book 1. However, the extra seasons are not required to read in order to understand this book!

Again, OUAONM is Book 1 of the Fairytale Series. Plotlines and character arcs continue through all of the books in the series. Arabian Nights is Book 2, Dryland is Book 3, and Roses & Thorns is Book 4. I suggest reading Arabian Nights (Book 2) after finishing the published version of OUAONM (aka "Season 1") before reading the rest of the available seasons on the Radish app.

Content Warnings:
Mentions of sexual assault
Bullying
Underage drinking
Closed door sexual content (there are no explicit scenes)
Rich kids generally behaving badly

Want more information on OUAONM and the Fairytale Series? Check out my website! I have everything you need to know about it listed there, along with fun posts—like how I came up with all the ideas and all the astrological signs of the characters.

Her books deserve to be published. This author is so talented. I'd read any book by the author without a title or any synopsis. that's how gifted she is

I think I'm just too old for this crap.

1 - being from DC, this story was too hard to buy. I don't care how much money you have, prominent senators and wealthy kids wouldn't be able to not be plastered over media for these stunts. That includes having been around these parties...

2 - these adult situations are forced on these teens because high school is the only acceptable forum for these things to happen. Oh you hate this person? Well high school will force you to be around them.

3 - posters of N*Sync puts the main characters at being born in the mid 80s. But the story appears to be set in modern times, with cell phones, making them in their 30s logically. If this took place in 2002ish, then there are things that shouldn't exist in the story

4 - main male wants to be an oil executive? If this story is in modern times, gross.

5 - not a single character in here is someone I'd care about

6 - high school sweat hearts lasting? Ha. Especially in that class.

7 - main female remembers all these stories with her parents as a child, but the father remarried and had kids with the new wife, but the kids are only 2 years younger? So much in this story doesn't line up

8 - teens don't tend to get such severe hangovers as are portrayed. At least, most of us didn't. Stories about such underage partying aren't really fun to read about. Wasted teens, drugs, drinking and driving, sex ... These are children (17, 14, etc) the author is having you picture. Minors are minors. When I was closer to their age? Who knows if this would have bothered me.

9 - the rage, the anger, the scowling. It's ridiculous. Over the top. Unbelievable.

10 - the anorexia. Just gross.

Apparently, I want either believability in my crappy romance novels or I want some serious fantasy in my crappy fantasy romance novels

Veeerrrryyyy cuuuutteee. Just, yes, read it 😂 Although it's not one of those must-read books but it's definitely one of those to-read books (what) Anyhow, Sebastian made me shook and all a lot and Taliana...well same old Taliana 🤣 It's really light I swear and it's all about money and fortunes and riches with a touch of high school so you might get caught up with diamonds hahahaha.

i'm not going to lie, I didn't like that ending. Like it for real just ended and it just feels like there's something missing. While I wish there was more of a resolution, I can't say I didn't enjoy this book. Crazily enough it popped up on my social media feed and I was like, why not? I thought it was super cute, but I just want more, you know?

Not really a fan, just didn't get very good in my opinion. There were parts I liked, but it also dragged in other parts.

This is my second go at reading this, I read it the first time around spring last year too. The story is good, I came back to it as an in between series stories, and it brings comfort. Its got a good storyline and the characters are adorable.

BUT what I don't like, is that you don't get to read the entire thing. You have to download Radish and pay for coins and all that crap in order to see what actually happens in the end. I don't mind paying for physical books, but I absolutely can't stand those money leeching book apps. You end up paying more on there than you would for a physical copy of the book.

sorry! Absolutely adore

Ok so I finished reading this book for like the fourth time now, I can proudly say that this book is one of my all time favorite books. Yes it’s a book from wattpad and yes it might be cliche and all but the writing is absolutely beautiful. The banter between Talia and Sebastian is something…damn makes me want something like that Fr. It’s not your typical cliche book and overall it’s just SO AMAZING, adore it

The first time I read the prologue, I loved this story already. Can't help it, the girl is badass! Yay for feminism!

I love the constant bickering and the sexual tensions. The story was created beautifully. I love the flow of their romance – just the right amount for my cup of tea.

I am finished with the original story! The author has added more to it on Wattpad and Radish so if you want to know what happens later, which most of us do, then you can keep reading!

I read this book as a teen when it was originally on wattpad and I loved it! The concept of rich prep kid drama was so well done that I’m scrambling to find more works like this. Now rereading this story via the Amazon Kindle version so here are my thoughts for that. I thought the ending for Talia and Seb was alright? The hopeless romantic in me can tolerate well done angst via an open ending, instead of unrealistic happily ever after. But I just wanted to give a warning to whoever had hopes for these two, DO NOT READ THE CONTINUED STORY ON TAPAS. I was surprised by how many (hundreds of?) chapters were added yet how empty it felt. The focus was not solely on Talia and Seb anymore, which drove me crazy because I became so invested in their relationship/ending. At the end of all these pay per chapters, they did not end up together but are on friendly terms. It’s hard for me to be happy for them because the story was drawn out for way too long. It’s a slow torturous death for my heart, but I guess that speaks to how well their initial dynamic/relationship was written. Just wanted to warn people, because I wish I had known. Would just like to end this by saying Simone Shirazi is an amazing writer. All her works were formative to my teen years, as evidenced by how gutted I was at the end of them. I am one of the many readers who hope to reread all her works one day.

Everything that’s wrong with this book:

The author dragged the story out so much, I had to finish the book by sheer power of will, however, I expected to at least have a clear ending, unfortunately, it was vague and unsatisfactory. On the contrary, it’s important to mention that the banter between the main characters was great at the beginning of the story, as well as the drama. Suffice to say, it got tiring once I had read about 60% of the book. In addition, the story does not include a first-person narrative from any of the characters, which was throughly disappointing as it’s something many people look forward to in a romance novel. Overall, this book had me extremely annoyed after I finished due to all of this plethora of accumulated flaws. I would not recommend this book to my worst enemy. If you do though, make the mistake of reading it, I recommend stopping abruptly right after Seb and Talia officially start dating for real . Continuing to read the book after said event, is pure, cruel, torture.

If you’re going to read this books, DON’T DO IT l. I’m saving you some time. The story is shit the author has a favorite character and it is not the main charactee of this book. This book supposed to be a building up for the next book for the side charactee. Second, the main hero is not Sebastian, he and the heroine didn’t end up together. Apparantly, the book doesn’t end with a good ending, it ends with a cliffhanging, it is continue on radish. But to save you some money, the author purposely wrote 23 seasons like a long soap opera yet after so many fuck-up and shit, the two main character here didn’t end up together. What’s the purpose if writing a romance with so many seasons longer than the soap opera if the ending is still the same on this book. So yeah don’t waste your money and time reading this book.

so let me just start by saying I love the ‘enemies to lovers’ trope, and I was so intrigued by the blurb that I HAD to get my hands on this book somehow.

I am disappointed.

I want to be clear and say that this is NOT enemies to lovers, this is two people with a hateful past fake date and then fall in love. This is not the same thing.

Where is the hate-filled, angry, passionate sex? Nowhere at all.

Hmm. In the beginning of the book, I noticed the writing changing from first, to third person numerous times within the same sentences and paragraphs. It not only wigged me out, it’s poor writing/editing.

For the amount of partying and sex that went on for a lot of characters in this book, it felt inappropriate that it was set in high school with the average age of 17. I get that is a YA book, but even a college setting would’ve been better.

Oh I almost forgot, you can’t read the ending of the book unless you download a third party app (Radish) and pay.

Average.
