Oh my god guys, I'm a frigging wimp!!
I do not read scary stuff. The reality is, it's probably not even really that scary to everyone but I was hiding behind my pillow and checking that my family hadn't turned into undead blind animals!
*
That being said, this book is brilliant! My heart was racing and I couldn't help but read on. The chapters were from different POV, all interesting and all engaging. There are quite a few triggers so message me if you're interested in reading this and I'll let you know what they are.

Blurb
It's a normal day. Normal enough until a crack appears in the sky, pulling in everyone's gaze. Suddenly, everyone is turned into some sort of creature, unseeing and on a violent rampage, killing everything it can get. Only a few are immune. It is up to them to fight back and try and save humanity.

Seriously...this is such a good book! So well written and I'm dying to read book 2 and 3!!!!
Thank you to @hyggebooktours for having me along on this one. Loved it!

Oops, finished this yesterday and got to busy with hockey things..

Honestly, it's hard to stand out and be different in this genre, it's so saturated. However, this was enjoyable, the characters were interesting and complicated. I can't wait to finish the series!

Nick Clausen writes imaginative and scary books. I can't stop reading. This one starts to unveil reasons for the unknown thing in the sky, and I can see the hint towards why people look up.

Stars: 3 out of 5.

I liked the beginning of this book better than the end. Mostly, because there really isn't an end. It's not even a cliffhanger. The story just stops mid-stride. None of the plot lines are resolved for any of the characters. No explanations are given to any of the questions. You need to buy the next book to find out what happens next.

Problem is, I don't care about any of the characters enough to invest in the next book in the series. They are all rather unlikeable or pathetic or both. Sorry, I think this series is a miss for me.

“They’re here…”

Fritz…there was nobody behind him, but he knew. He knew…when they came…they were coming for keeps.

A moment of silence…then the world goes crazy.

Blind Rage is all about meeting the characters, feeling our way through the madness to live another day. Death and chaos.

We have terrifying moments and NIck Clausen has no trouble killing off his characters, so be careful of who you becomes a ‘friend’.

Blind Rage is a series that does not stand alone. I know that may turn some people off, but Nick Clausen is a fast writer and his stories keep gathering momentum the further into the series he gets. I loved the Dead Meat series and am very curious how he handles Blind Rage.

The world building is filled with many questions, so we will have to wait and see WTH is going on. I’ll be there, how about you?

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Blind Rage by Nick Clausen.

Tense

For me, the characters are hard to love. The plot feels focused on fighting/gore a lot, which isn’t necessarily bad. I do wish there was a bit more depth to the characters though. However, it’s gripping enough for me to continue the series!

Blind rage - Nick Clausen

When a crack appears in the sky it turns anybody that looks up to it into a zombie intent on killing anybody who’s around them.

But there’s a select few who appear to be immune to looking up, and they now have to navigate their way through keeping themselves and their family safe while trying to work out just what is going on.

This literally starts off with action on page 1, it’s so fast paced because of this and difficult to put the book down. It has short chapters which I love, which means it’s so easy to just say one more chapter, oh just another chapter until you get to the end of the book.

We follow quite a few main characters and it’s easy in these types of books for the characters to almost be sidelined by the action but Nick writes these characters really well that you are able to feel frightened with them and feel their grief. Even if you don’t normally read this genre, it’s an easy writing style that’s really accessible to everyone.

I cannot recommend this book enough and have already brought Nick Clausen’s other series Dead Meat to read aswell as preordering the 2nd book in this series.

Thank you so much to @hyggebooktours and Nick Clausen for gifting me a copy of this book for review and letting me be a part of this tour.

I'd like to warn folks that are as interested in this book as I was, that it is painfully repetitive and boring. I read the premise of it, that some mysterious fracture happened in the sky and its causing people to go feral and blind. How cool!! What is the fracture? Who or what caused it? Is it aliens? Natural? A weapon?

Book 1 barely touches on any of that at all. It's chapter after chapter told from the perspective of a handful of characters who basically go from Place A, get in a scuffle with the "zombies", make it to Place B where they're temporarily safe, get into another scuffle with the "zombies" and so on and so on.

The actions scenes are okay, but they're just so repetitive it had me rolling my eyes as I'd start a new chapter and the same events would play out again and again.

Maybe the sky fracture is detailed and explained further in the book series, but I honestly don't think I can endure another book of this. The writing itself wasn't very good either in my opinion. It reads very flat and one dimensional, like a highschool student wrote it. I'm not knocking the author, because I sure couldn't do a better job. But as a reader, and comparing this to someone like Jeff Vandermeer or Stephen King, its a chore to read to the point that it took me out of the story.

Maybe find and read some samples first before you get into this series to make sure it's what you're after. I went into it hoping to explore a mysterious anomaly in the sky, and ended up just getting beaten repeatedly over the head with a handful of one dimensional characters quarreling with zombies.

This isnt my usual genre to read. I tend to stray away from sci-fi, but it sounded good, and it was mixed with horror so thought I would give it a go.
This was so much more than its pigeon holed genre. It is a story about how people deal with the worst situations. There is an element of dystopia. A crack appears in the sky and people turn angry, so the title makes sense quickly. Some are immune and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why.
This is the first book in a new series, there are a lot of characters to get to know, but dont get too attached to anyone!
There is no slow build up of story or tension. It starts on page one, and doesnt even let up at the end. Each chapter ends on a cliffhanger, the surefire way to ensure the reader is unable to put it down until its finished.
The writing is so descriptive that I can really see this making a fantastic film.
My favourite character was probably Gina. I love kick arse strong females, and she was led by her need to protect her children.
The story jumps between different viewpoints. It is interesting to see the reasoning and motivational behind some of their actions.
This is left on a cliffhanger which I know frustrates a lot of people, but I dont think the author makes any secret of the fact that this is book one in a series and there is more to come. Cant wait for book 2.

A Different Apocalypse

This book puts a new spin on the apocalypse. They're not the usual flesh eating zombies we're use to running and hiding from. They're something different and not everyone is affected. We don't really know what's happening yet, just don't look up. So far, the story seems interesting but not much was disclosed. Its only Book 1 though.

Zombie-like, blind and full of rage, the weapon of destruction was alive then not. What a thing to confront. The sky is falling. Maybe. Great adrenaline gatherer. Great characters. Huge cliffhanger!

Title: Blind Rage
Author: Nick Clausen
Pages: 398
Rating: 4/5

Synopsis:

A mysterious crack has appeared in the sky and all of a sudden people are now turning into savage killers. The world is being disrupted by death and destruction. Not all are affected however, there is a select few who appear to be immune to this phenomenon. Despite this, they still have to fight to survive in this society that is on the verge of collapse. The whole in the sky continues to grow bigger as more and more people find themselves succumbing to the rage. There seems to be no cure, no safe haven and no explanation, only blind rage.

Review:
I have read plenty of Nick’s books now and I find myself returning back to them because he knows how to hook me in! I have loved every book I have read by this author so far, especially the Dead Meat series, so I was excited when I was given the opportunity to read Blind Rage, the first book of a brand-new series by Nick.

Once again, I was drawn in by the book’s description but I was also promised by Nick a bad ass female in this one and I couldn’t wait to meet her! Once I began reading Blind Rage, I felt this one had a sci-fi feeling to it alongside being a horror, now sci-fi is a genre I struggle with, but I trust Nick and I’m glad I did because I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

The first thing I picked up with this book and loved is how the title meaning instantly became relevant, it didn’t take long for everything to make sense. It also didn’t take very long for the action to begin either, talk about being thrown into a story!

Nick is a very descriptive writer, you can imagine every word, brutality and all, which definitely creates an atmosphere. He then does his usual but clever leaving you hanging after chapters, so you can’t help but read on, making the book difficult to put down. His short snappy chapters also keep the story moving at pace but it also allows you to really feel the growing intensity.

There are quite a few characters to get your head around in this one and you hear from different perspectives, however this is clear and easy to follow. As for the characters, Nick did deliver on the female bad ass, I loved Gina, her strength and protectiveness of her children was to be admired, especially after a past that could have destroyed her as a person. Camilla pulled on my heart strings, I have so much love and respect for her and really was hoping that good things would happen for her. Now as for Thorn, we he just gave me the creeps, he made the read turn even darker which you wouldn’t think would be possible with everything going on. I was actually scared for some characters because of him.

This read had a zombie apocalypse feel to it, which you would think after the Dead Meat series you’d think Nick would want to move away from this, but this was cleverly done as it is the same kind of theme but different on so many levels, Nick really knows what he is doing.
I was kept on my toes with action throughout and I was interesting to see where this would go as I really struggled to see how things could be resolved. This really was gripping and suspenseful, Nick doesn’t hold back and the ending, well that was just wow! Now I can’t wait for the second book!

So, you know those books that you think you will like, but they end up surpassing your expectations? Well this is one of those books…. Mind blown!!

This is not a genre I read, but I will now be reading it a lot more. I loved this book, the start is fantastic and really hooks you in.

The characters are relatable (in the sense that zombies are!), the story is told in many points of view, but this is in no way confusing as each character has their own chapter. The number of characters also enable you to understand all aspects of what is happening.

The only bad point to the book is that it’s sequel isn’t out till November! I need to know what is next for the ‘immune

This was an awesome first book. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better than average.

Ok, the bad. Some of the dialog is contrived and fake. Nobody actually talks the way some of the characters do. Some parts of the plot are pretty typical zombie trope.

The good. The storyline moves quickly. The characters are believable for the most part. The author does a great job of pacing the action scenes. He gives enough detail to paint the picture but doesn't muddy it up and bog it down.

Hopefully, the rest of the series is just as good.

Start of something good

I know you will want to fill your kindle up with this book series. It starts off with a rumble and exists with a bang. This story tells the lives of multiple characters, backgrounds, and an eruption of mayhem. What is that in the sky…don’t look. I’m sharing more you will have to buy it.
I recommend lovers off horror, action, and paranormal you will love if!

This book does not mess around. Few sentences into the books and shit hits the fan already. This book is action packed from start to finish, which is also slightly negative for me as it could have some breathing space.

Nevertheless action is well written and very suspenseful
Characters are mixed and from different backgrounds, using what the know on how they deal with the situation

Blind Rage is the first book in Nick Clausen’s new horror apocalypse series Under the Breaking Sky This book is a thrill ride of a novel that will have you on the edge of your seat and leave you eager for the next book. If you’re not a fan of cliffhangers, then this book is not for you.
Blind Rage is a full length novel that is thrilling from beginning to end. The author introduces readers to a variety of characters who’s decisions will either save them or doom them. A strange crack in the sky appears mysteriously. People feel compelled to look up at it and then the horror strikes. Many are struck blind and begin attacking those around them in a blind rage. They seem to feel little pain and attack relentlessly. Then there are some who are not affected at all. They have no idea why, but they are able to sense the change in the air.
The danger in this book is multi-layered and while there may be moments of “peace” the threat never really goes away. I like that I’m given multiple points of view from a variety of characters. It’s interesting to see things from each of their perspectives, but then it also keeps me page-turning when the author shifts to another character. I like how this author writes this book because you can almost believe that you could meet these characters in real life. There are no perfect choices or scenarios in this book, and there is always something to keep you looking around.
Don’t get comfortable thinking that this book is simply about the main threat that you can see. There is another hiding in the open and it’s stalking the unwary. There might be some unpleasant elements in this book that some might find upsetting, so I urge a bit of caution while reading.
I truly enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I’m rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you enjoy books by this author, in the horror genre, or apocalypse style then this book is a good choice to pick up.

The story:
The day starts like any other. But at 2:44 pm everything changes — a crack appears in the sky, and anyone who looks at it is struck blind and transformed into a savage, inhuman killer. Anyone that is, apart from a small group of individuals who, for unknown reasons, seem to be immune to the effects of the phenomenon. Downtown Copenhagen is thrown into chaos, and it soon becomes clear that this isn't an isolated incident — similar events have struck around the globe. The police manage to get things under control; that is, until it happens all over again 12 hours later...

For Mark, what starts as a boring day at the office turns into a fight for his life; for Gina, protecting her sons from the chaos around is her all-consuming mission; Tommy, still mourning the loss of his father to cancer, and with no support from his distant and broken mother, must find a way to protect himself. As society collapses around them, will they be able to stay one step ahead of their former friends and colleagues as they succumb to the blind rage?

My thoughts:
I don't read a huge amount of horror, but when I do I like them to be like this! Nick Clausen's novel drops us right into the action from the start, and it doesn't let up.

The story is told from the point-of-view of multiple characters, one per chapter, some of whom we get to know right at the start, and a few we meet later on. I really like this way of structuring a story, and it really helped me get to know each of the characters.

The plot is a really intriguing premise, with sci-fi and thriller vibes alongside the all-out action. Each character responds to what's happening differently, and the author throws a lot at them! Gina in particular was a great strong female character, with her strength, determination and her drive to protect her sons.

This is the first book in the author's new "Under the Breaking Sky" series, and ends with plenty still to resolve in the rest of the series. I'm looking forward to finding out what the next instalment has in store for these characters!

A page-turner.

A mysterious crack appears in the sky. When people look at it, their eyes turn white and they turn into monsters, driven by killing other people. Not all people. There are few that are immune.

Gina lost hearing for a few moments before the phenomenon and was able to snap out of it. The world went crazy before her eyes. She barely escaped her focus mainly on keeping her kids safe. Tommy got in trouble at school. On the way hope his stepfather is killed and he is left to run for his life, joining forces with Gina. Mark is one of the few that seem to be immune. His focus is more on saving his office girlfriends than going back home to his pregnant one. And then there is the agent, whose only focus is his daughter. There are people searching for the ones that are immune and will do anything to keep their family out of it.

We follow them as they are trying to navigate the new reality, trying to stay safe and figuring out what the hell is going on. :)

The crack disappears and comes back after a few hours. No one knows what is going on, or what to do.

I love it! :)

Pov switch fast from one person to another, often ending on a cliffhanger. It amps up the pace of the story with each chapter. I love that there is no intro period, just jumping string into the action.

Even though the story is very fast-paced, I missed a bit more of character development, something to me in, besides the action.

I can't wait to read what happens next and figure out what is happening. :)

Blind Rage by Nick Clausen is a tense, action-packed, and bloody tale about a sudden event that affects the whole world. While some people struggle to understand what is going on as they try to survive, curiosity gets the best of most as they just can’t help but look up.

Full disclosure: I was given a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my rating in any way. I also preordered a copy.

Blind Rage is the first book in the Under the Breaking Sky series and I am already obsessed. I cannot wait to see where this series goes!

If you enjoy action that doesn’t shy away from the brutal bits, and events that will make you question what you would do in the characters shoes, this a must-read!

Interesting

It’s an interesting take on an apocalyptic journey. I like how the author didn’t waste time and just jumped into the action. There were moments that seemed to drag on with explanations that seemed unnecessary and I would find myself putting the book down for a bit and picking it up later. Some of the main characters felt underdeveloped and not relatable. I saw the ending coming, I just thought it would happen sooner. I gave the book four stars because it was different. In this genre, any original take on an apocalyptic story is refreshing. I do plan on reading the second book, I just hope the first book helped the author grow into the story more.

This started off really interesting. I love this genre in both books and film so when I read the synopsis I thought ‘that’s for me’

I’m sad that it really missed the mark! I get what the author was trying to do by switching between different characters so we see their view points, but there was too many characters and some only had a chapter or so so you never got to know them individually enough. None of them were really likeable either.

At the end, no questions get answered. You’d have to pick up the next book for that. But, there’s also Jo cliffhanger that makes you desperate to pick up the next book. It kinda just stops.
