From the back of the book: In Home Life on the Prairie Susan pieces together the story of the Clarita Oklahoma community and the Hochstetler's experiences.
This is not a young adult book as advertised here on Goodreads. The book portrays a Amish family's life through the years and how it was impacted by trials and tribulations. Everyday moments are documented like crops or the weather and family illness. This book also discusses the schools and the other families living in the district at length. There are over 100 black and white photos to help clearly see what is being discussed. It reminds me of a fully documented census of the Clarita, Oklahoma Amish community in early years.
I would consider this a history of a town, with not many stories, just facts. People, where they lived, how many children they had, not much else. Maybe interesting to their families and people who live in this town. But was rather difficult to get thru. There were a few poems that were interesting, mostly about people who has passed away.
