BEHIND THE MASK OF WAR AND VALOR, BETRAYAL REIGNS WHERE IT BLEEDS…
Orynthia’s young king grievously takes his throne in the wake of regicide. From the city’s underbelly, unrest brews for the cross-caste convicted, while the haidrens hastily depart Bastiion to embark on the coronation tour for the realm’s new sovereign: Dmitri Korbin Thoarne.
Now the seated haidren for his House, Zaethan Kasim returns to the brutal mountains of his youth, where competition and conquest eagerly await his homecoming, unlike his dismissive father. There, Zaethan swiftly uncovers a Darakai radically changing. Committed to doing whatever it takes to protect Dmitri’s regime, he fights to remain alpha zà as Wekesa—his favored rival—prepares his challenge. To ensure he is named champion, Zaethan presents another deal to the highlander witch he despises. Yet in balancing fealty to both king and countrymen, Zaethan begins to doubt Darakai’s loyalties, as well as his own.
Luscia Darragh Tiergan is no stranger to the brutality of the south. However, after a harrowing attack, it is the shadows lurking behind it that slashes her dreams into a waking nightmare. Plagued by whispering omens, Luscia wrestles to silence her uncontrolled Sight. And as she is stalked out of Bastiion from within the Other, she must conceal the volatile manifestations from her Boreali guard but, most especially, the Darakaian haidren Luscia’s sworn to help.
Hosted by the House of War, the Quadren confronts an enemy more dangerous than the last. For where treachery stirs, it is not the crown that reigns, but the bloodshed encircling it.
The Series House of Darakai is the second installment in the epic fantasy series, The Haidren Legacy. An immersive adventure armed with dark politics, sharp objects, and bickering characters, this treacherous saga packs a legendary punch for adult and NA readers alike. Thrilling fans of Brandon Sanderson, George R.R. Martin, and Sabaa Tahir, this savage sequel is out for blood.

Throughout her life, K.L. Kolarich never expected to become a bestselling and award-winning epic fantasy author, nor one based out of Nashville, TN. But growing up in Metro Detroit, Kolarich developed a deep love for eclectic variety as well as the underappreciated. Both themes readily present throughout her treacherous series, The Haidren Legacy.
An individual plagued by sarcasm, conviction, and a constant distraction of fable and lore, K.L. Kolarich dreams in the day and writes through the night. Often hearing her characters argue in the background, Kolarich stifles the daily temptation to abandon reality and lose herself in the realm of Orynthia.
When fully present in the real world rather than another, Kolarich explores local waterfalls, habitually frequents the same Thai restaurant, adds to her ever-growing spice collection, and maintains a thoroughly messy kitchen for the sake of colorful vegan feasts.
With too many cats and not nearly enough wine, Kolarich resides in the woods away from the noise, happily married.

•House of Darakai wrecked my poor heart right three days after I read House of Bastiion (The Haidren Legacy #1) I am not being dramatic, it's the way it is.
•Jokes on you if you thought you could bypass the heartbreak, but nope. K. L. Kolarich said, 'not today folks'
•Shoutout to Zaethan Kasim-Shá for being the only man EVER.
•In case you were wondering the man still describes Luscia vividly, now I have learned fourteen different ways to describe blonde hair and pale skin. (Thank you K)
•Zaethan's character development in this book is DIVINE. He went from 'I don't care about them Quadren' to 'Hachiro and Ira are my babies, I'll gouge your eyes out if you even look at them wrong.'
•Lets talk about Dimitri, my cinammon roll whom I'd marry the second he turns Non-Fictional (probably through the means of Boreali Witchcraft)
•Mr. Figure is on all time high, I've come to like his chapters very much.
•I still hate Marek, but that bit was anticipated. No one likes a ginger ninja who wouldn't believe our lady Lusc.
•Oh wait, Luscia slays. (She's literally a demon Slayer now, I think it was in the job description of being on the Quadren)
•Ira is still drunk, but I like him. Hell, he's my favourite. Our energies match, like who cares about war and problems in politics when there are parties to throw and attend.
•NGL my Zaethia dreams were hurt very badly but dont worry I'll bribe our K with lots of Fish tacos maybe. Could even be fortune cookies depends on my budget really.
•I miss Sayuri. I'm in love with Zaethan's Pryde.
•Somebody kill Wekesa already. That guy ruins the mood.
•Okay but Lusc's bodyguards are so hot, like K, do I have a chance with them anytime?
•The pace was not too fast, not too slow, just enough to keep you turning the pages (scrolling in my case) but damn, this one is satisfying.
•Could I want HOUSE OF BOREAL so soon after this heartbreak? YES.
•THE EPILOGUE LEFT ME IN TEARS WTH. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO ME???
You know what : this book has haunted me for more than a year and it holds up on re-read so forget what I said on my first read : IT'S A FULL 5 STARS !
4.5 stars : I LOOOVED IT and I can't wait for what comes next !
I've said this series joined The War of lost hearts trilogy in my favorites series of the year, well after this book Zaethan and Luscia also join Max and Tisaanah in my favorite couples of the year. The aaaangst guys ! It was perfect, this romance has all of my favorite tropes combined and my little heart could handle it ! (I've already re-read a certain scene quite a few times... and I will re-read it, and the entire book, again !) I love Luscia and Zaethan as heroes even more after this book, and found Zaethan's character journey was great ! The side characters were handled better in this book than in the first. I really love some of them and we're starting to have a really great "squad chemistry" with the quadren, the pryde and some of the shadowmen. I particularly loved the Zaethan-Dmitri, Luscia-Dmitri and Luscia-Declan relationships. Ira was the comic relief we needed but I hope he becomes more usefull in the future. The figure and his past kept being intriging. I love the action scenes and the pace, in some scenes I was just holding my breath. Two little things that prevent it from being a full 5 stars : the villains are too "all evil" and the twists were still too predictable for me.
At the end of the day my big issue is : the next book isn't out yet and I want it noooow !! Can't wait ! You get it : I definetly recommend this series, it is underated and deserves so much more ! If you haven't : read it NOW !
Okay, so I usually post a small summary with my review, but I can’t do that this time without spoiling. You’ll just have to take my word for it that this book is absolutely amazing. You are going to feel so many emotions while you read it. I laughed, I cried. I was shocked, I was happy, I was angry. There were definitely moments where I was so upset that I wanted to fling my kindle at the wall, possibly breaking it. But oh. My. Gosh. You guys, this book is everything.
I didn’t realize how much I had missed Orynthia until I dove back into this beautiful world that Kolarich has created. And y’all, “House of Darakai” does NOT disappoint. There is so much character development, and it makes my heart happy. Actually, Zaethan makes my heart happy. He has my whole heart now. And Luscia!!! I’m so proud of her for how much she grows over the course of this novel.
Kolarich is a gifted writer who made me feel things I haven’t felt from a book in a long time. There were so many twists and turns throughout the novel that I wasn’t expecting, and that made the experience *that* much better. I loved the angst, agonizing though it may be, and I loved the witty banter between the characters. And while that ending was cruel, I am entirely devoted to this series and cannot wait for the next installment!
My highly anticipated sequel and it did not disappoint! Every single day of agonized pain waiting for this release since I turned the last page of HoB was worth it.
The Haidren Legacy is a series that needs to be savored. It’s not as action-packed and fast-paced as the books I usually gravitate toward but it more than makes up for in the complex worldbuilding, the heavy political intrigue, and the sweet, pull your hair out while screaming “Just Kiss Already!” slow-burn romance.
“Silhouetted by dawn, she was the most arresting eclipse he’d ever seen.”
“When I start to look, I can’t stop. But is that what you want, Luscia?”
The writing, the world and the characters will slowly creep their way to your heart until you have no choice but to wholeheartedly be obsessed.
Luscia is still her kickass self. I have no idea what’s happening to her when it comes to her Sight but I can’t wait to know more about her abilities. To the surprise of no one, I am absolutely IN LOVE with Zaethan. (My heart broke for him. I can’t believe KL Kolarich did that. *sobs*) Ira is growing on me… he’s like Sheldon Cooper. Sometimes exasperating, most of the time you feel like wringing his neck but impossible not to love. Dmitri, I will sacrifice my life for. The beautiful brotherhood between him and Zaethan was just one of my favorite things about the book.
“My best work is slow.” Kasim roguishly grinned. “So I’m told.”
“Whoever you decide to become, I will champion that man,” Dmitri whispered, “just as you’ve always championed me.”
“It is not to failure we cling but the sheer audacity to face tomorrow as if today was powerless against it. You taught me that, Zaeth,” he professed, his round eyes ringed in gold. “You did.”
Zaethan and his Pryde is another. I love their loyalty and their easy banter. Zahra is a badass I’d want to call my bestfriend. Jabari is unintentionally adorable. Dhalili is most endearing. And Kumo with his steadfast loyalty is definitely becoming one of my favorites.
I don’t know what else there is to say… I’m so terribly in love with this series and I can’t wait to read more!
I received an ARC to read and review. Quoted excerpt/s may change in the final print.
◦ I've received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ◦
The book begins with the mysterious monster that knows everything around him, carrying people’s secrets and slowly approaching Dmitri’s coronation.
As usual, when comes to politics in books I struggle, not gonna lie, for me it's all talking and trying to fight the evil, or there are so many conflicts that I lose my mind from all the details - BUT, this time, the exact thing I do not particularly love in books, has attracted me to this book.
I enjoyed a lot the politics behind the story, how the House of Darakai is so corrupted that even Zaeth couldn't see it until the last moment. I loved the intrigues happening, the way everything just exploded in one single moment.
The House of Darakai - their world is wild, it's gruesome and it's also so enticing. The world-building this time has been amazing, my imagination was delighted by all the details. Also, the character growth has been amazing during this book. Zaethan has had amazing growth, from the first book to the 2nd book he has grown a lot and I loved the entire moment of him growing.
But what I loved most was the moments between Zaeth and Luscia, such a slow burn and slow enemies to lovers this was, but each moment was just culminating to the best moments. Their moments gave me all the feels and I've enjoyed each minute.
The magic system it's definitely strange and unique, something that even Luscia can't understand, so I hope it will be developed more along the way because I'm really curious what's all that new power. There might also be a love triangle happening - which in this book just feels natural and right in tune with the story so what's gonna happen, we do not know yet but I'm definitely excited!!
The ending was such a perfect one, it didn’t end into a cliffhanger but definitely leaves the door open for more things to be explored. I’m really curious about what the next book will bring and what adventure we’re embarking on.
I received an ebook copy of this book from the author/publisher. This review is honest and of my own choice
In the Haidren Legacy series sequel to House of Bastiion, the Quadren begins their tour of the lands. Seeking peace and unity amongst the people of Orynthia, they encounter the complete opposite. War taint, deceit and betrayal, unforgiving events, they fight for their lives throughout the entire journey. If you're looking for a series that gets more intense and better as you read, this is it. House of Darakai is even better than its predecessor.
Kolarich has done it again, and even better this time around. The wait for release day was 100% worth it. The details and descriptions she uses in her writing is the most eloquent I've encountered in fantasy writing....look out Tolkien! Especially when she's painting a picture of grotesque war taint. I no longer had to use the language glossary while reading, as the understanding started to come naturally only a few chapters in. The map included with the book was helpful as well.
This is also not just a story, it's an experience. With new languages, a website full of the plants and weapons, and character art, this is an entirely new world to get lost in. And now that I am immersed, I will be impatiently waiting for the 3rd story to this epic fantasy world.
5 brightly shining gold stars for Kolarich's House of Darakai.
What an amazing book! I’m completely blown away by this author’s work.
I’m so glad I had House of Darakai to read immediately after reading House of Bastiion, book 1 in the series because both books were amazing. The character development, the immersive world-building, and the plot, everything was phenomenal.
I went through so many emotions while reading. There were so many unexpected twists and turns and I loved it. I’m honestly at a loss of words to accurately explain how good this book was! I was on the edge of my seat while reading and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!
Honestly, I think I might like this one better than House of Bastiion but only because I know the world so it was easier to read this time!
Holy epic world building!! Like serious kudos!! The different lands and magic systems and weapons and languages - it's all here and well thought out!! I'm highly impressed! I'm so here for all the political intrigue! Do I have any idea whodunit? Nope. I think I do then I'm wrong. But the ride is enjoyable! If you enjoy high fantasy this series is for you!!!
I loved getting to know the characters and the world better. But the pacing was still way to slow for me. I know this is an epic fantasy series, which needs complex worldbuilding and lots of descriptions. Normally that doesn’t bother me at all. But here for some reason it does… I did however enjoy seeing Zathan and Luscia grow, both as individuals and in their interactions. I’m curious to discover what the next book will bring and how the magic will play a part in all this. 3.75/5 ⭐
It is finally here! Second book in the Haidren Legacy series, I have waited so long for you.
K.L Kolarich has not let me down!
At the end, the only thing I can say is "What the actual f* was that?".
If I were to write a summary without giving anything away, I'd list all the following: Hope, scheme, blood, prejudice, hurt, longing, mistrust, mystery, political intrigue, death, heartbreak, did I say blood?, mischief, battles, love, kiss, grief, enraging and finally cliffhanger.
If you're ready for all these feels, go for it! Just remember to grab a tissue and leave any sharp object away from you.
Now that it's over, my heart bleeds for so, so many reasons. I'm having a hard time to pinpoint only one or ten examples.
"...even in hiding you cannot be unseen."
After saying all that, can we all agree this book should be made into a show? I'm leaving this instalment with lots of feelings. I'm satisfied with the story, but my soul needs to be put together. There is no denying how much I loved the characters, the writing and the world building. I'm so ready for the next one.
Political intrigue, multicultural representation, & made up languages like Game of Thrones. Snarky, complex, mysterious, & comedic characters, as well as enemies-to-allies-to-something-more, as in SJM's books. The intriguing mystery & twists, keeping track of clues that are left behind like bread crumbs, and feeling like I'm right there in any land, battle, and moment thanks to the details, makes it right up my alley. The extras that go with the books make it even more interesting! A soundtrack, interactive website full of all kinds of extra goodies, including a beautiful map, a new weapons armory, plus fantastic character art, and a breakdown of the politics & goods produced by region, it all makes this series so much MORE. I generally finish a book I like & don't want to leave the world, I crave further details, the extras my overactive imagination wonders about. Kolarich's abundant details and creations have provided so much of that, and I'm👏 here👏 for👏 it!
While they travel along to the south, Lucia & Zaethan characters are fleshed out more, as well as some of the others, & the working relationship they develop is beautifully done. There are so many complications, & her personal guard is part of that. Hachi, the newest character, reminded me of Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang; he's a delightful little nugget. On the whole, they are a motley bunch of personalities, but the fundamental loyalties within, they warm my heart. I have so much I want to know about the previous haidrens, because I feel like so much hidden is directly related to them, especially Alora, Luscia's aunt, Ira's father, & the creepy uncle from Pilar! The plotting & scheming that was shown in HoB escalates here, & I NEED ANSWERS! Ugh, I shall stop here, because I'll really start telling all my theories! By no means a quick, popcorn read, it takes a little time to digest... but it's worth it, and it's truly epic, set against a rich tapestry of a world I'm so glad I dove into this year! Now to wait for book 3!
CW: discussion of a previous rape & graphic violence during battles.
My thanks to K.L. Kolarich for the eARC. Thoughts and opinions are my own, and I've chosen to leave an honest review.
House of Darakai! What can I say about this one that I didn’t say about the first?
Let’s start with the epilogue, Kolarich, did you have to make me cry?
I loved all the mystery and unforgiving events. I don’t know how but the world-building got even better and let’s face if the world-building ain’t great you’re not getting above a three-star.
Kolarich you’re getting a five-star but you did make me cry which is not easy to do! I need MORE like yesterday! I’m going to have to add these to my bookshelf just got to get out of the book-buying ban first. Thank you so much for writing such an epic story. Even with the length and let’s face it, she’s thick, I loved it and just want to re-read it all again!
Last year, I somehow stumbled upon House of Bastiion — and it was love at first sight, becoming one of my favourite reads of 2022. House of Darakai is a no less impressive emotional rollercoaster. If possible, I loved it even more than the first instalment.
It's not easy to talk about this book without giving anything away. So I'll assume my f̶a̶n̶g̶i̶r̶l̶i̶n̶g̶ most professional posture and share some random thoughts.
• K.L. Kolarich breathed life into the vivid world she created weaving a complex, immersive, beautifully written story.
• If you enjoyed the political intrigues in the first book, you’ll be glued to the pages in book two as you'll find even more action, twists and betrayals.
• To the surprise of no one, I am absolutely IN LOVE with Zaethan. His character development in this book is superb. I shared his doubts and internal struggles as if they were my own. I felt the depth of the friendship and loyalty that tied him to Dmitri and his pryde. I saw Luscia through his eyes and I, too, couldn't help but keep looking at the impenetrable woman he once considered no more than a cursed witch.
• The slow-burn romance was killing me — in the best possible way — and I may have re-read some scenes quite a few times.
• The side characters were more fleshed out in this book than in the first. Ira and his antics are growing on me. The banter among the pryde warriors is irresistible: they are the embodiment of the found family trope. Declan now holds a piece of my heart.
• The ending broke my heart. I still can’t believe KL Kolarich did that. *sobs* I am completely left wanting more!
"Our marks don't define us, Maji'maia, but good or bad, they bear meaning."
I enjoy this book more compare to the first book since I was already familiar with the world building and the language they used. Now I can follow the plot easier when I didn't have to go back and forth to the glossary.
I really like the character development and the addition of a new character in this story as well. As promised, the romance started to bloom between the two of our main characters. Although, to be honest I kinda ship her with the king. But, I love her friendship with the king nonetheless.
I have to admit the pacing in the first half part of the book was slow and full of court politics drama. Fortunately, the pace picks up for the rest 50% of the story. Instead of the political discussion we have in the first part, we have more action scenes with battles and shocking twists.
Just like the first book, I swear this series have a great epilogue and cliff hanger. The epilogue always makes me want to read the next book because I'm so curious about "the figure".
Overall, this is a really good sequel for this series. A fascinating world building with interesting plot to follow which makes me can't wait to read the third book, House of Boreal to continue their journey!
Actual rating: 3.5⭐
A huge thank you to the K.L. Kolarich for giving me this digital copy of the book in exchange for my honest opinion, also thank you to Book of Matches Media for allowing me to be a part of the book tour!
I would classify this series as being high fantasy, and normally I read that kind slower because of all the information. Not with this series. I devoured it. I couldn’t sleep one night because it was giving so much anxiety, I swear it gave me heart palpitations. It is amazing. I love all the characters, even more in this book. And I love the slow burn. Although, I personally would pick Dmitri. Also Ira has become one of my favorite side characters. I need book three now. This is truly amazing
I'm frustrated that book 3 won't be available until 2023 because I want answers! The figure's chapters are becoming interesting sources of information and I've developed a theory about who he is/was. Ira offers nice comedic relief and reminds me of Captain Jack Sparrow. I like the character growth for Luscia and Zaith. Lots of action. Several questions created and answered all in the same book, but the big-picture questions are still unanswered. I have a theory about Zaith I wish I could discuss with someone, but I can't without giving away spoilers.
I enjoyed this more than the first book. The world building was excellent and I loved Luscia's growth. I enjoyed her POV the most. I looked forward to the political intrigues and the actions were plenty and put me at the edge of my seat. However, I found Zaethan's and the figure's POVs boring sometimes. Maybe too melodramatic for my taste? The story too at some points became predictable. Can't wait to read Book 3 and explore Boreal!
I wanted to stop and write this review at so many points because I just needed to tell everyone to GO READ IT! I was captivated by House of Bastiion and so excited to get back to Orynthia with this second installment. I was slightly worried about the Second Book Slump, but K.L. Kolarich not only evaded this trap, she wove a story even more enchanting, enriching, and exciting than the first.
We pick up almost where HoB left off. The Quadren is embarking on their first Royal task with King Dmitri - touring the Houses. The first stop is that cutthroat House of War where more than just a coronation visit awaits. Zaethan is preparing for an inevitable challenge for the role of alpha zá from his enemy, Wekesa. To ensure victory, he needs the help of Luscia and her fabled luxiron. Turning to an enemy is no easy task for Zaethan, but offering help to one is equally as hard for Luscia.
K.L. Kolarich promised the slow-burn romance would burn a little hotter in this book and she DELIVERS. I absolutely love the character growth we get from Luscia and Zaethan outside the palace. Dmitri gets a little more time to show off all that royal training he’s had over the years.
Loyalties are tested, new bonds are formed, and the politics remain as intriguing as ever in this next installment of The Haidren Legacy. Now to (impatiently) await Book 3.
****I was provided an eARC as part of The Haidren Legacy Street Team but the review, opinions, and genuine joy derived from reading this book is completely my own****
Intense, heart pounding, nail biting, edge of your seat brilliance! This sequel went above and beyond all my expectations - the first book was great and House of Darakai raised the bar. I'm not even sure how many books this series has planned but I'm hoping to have much more time with these characters.
The diversity of the characters is amazing - so many unique people and personalities. Luscia and Zaethan are two of my favorites - and the story is mostly told from their POV's. However, there's another mystery character that also shares his POV, hiding in the shadows watching everything. There are so many other characters I could talk about that add so much to the story. There are also some really cool animals, the Lycan a wolx (wolf/fox hybrid) that's massive and very protective of Luscia. Then there's the Pilarese Hawk a messenger bird that travels with the mystery figure - the bird is not afraid to get his talons or beak dirty.
House of Darakai had so many plot twists that I never seen coming, leaving me speechless. A couple things I thought might be happening came to fruition, and others I thought would happen definitely didn't. Koralich knows how to draw and keep the suspense going, drawing the reader in and keeping them close.
I personally cannot wait to see how everything ties together. It's one of those series where after you finally know everything you want to go back and re-read to see if you view the story differently knowing how everything comes together. I'm hoping the next book comes out ASAP. This is a series that you need to pick up - if not you're doing a disservice to yourself and definitely missing out!
Definitely one of those rare series in which the second book is even better than the first. Can’t think of anything I didn’t like… except months of waiting for the 3rd book to come out. 😉
This is perfect for fans of Game of Thrones and The Witcher.
Personally, I struggled with the first half of the book. I found it slow and politically heavy. And it had a hard time holding my interest. Once the big secret was reveal, it became fast paced and easily held my attention.
Luscia’s romance still confuses me. She’s ready to get at it with Zaethan then is going back to Marek. I just need her to make up her mind.
I also see very little point of the figure’s perspective throughout the book. The only time I felt it offered something was in the epilogue.
I love this story! Everything was greatly written, from the intrigue, to the plot twists, the setting and the characters! - It was just a delight to read! Zaethan was an amazing character that undergoes a mental assessment of not just his capassities, but also his belifs and loyalties! He does what's needed no matter the cost and he's very determined in doing what's best for his people! I reccomend this if you love political intrigue, betrayals and a lot of action!
Trigger warnings: death, violence, substance abuse, reference to r*pe and ethnocentricity
House Of Darakai is an incredible second instalment to The Haidren Legacy series!!! After the events of the first book the newly crowned Dmitri and his Haidrens start their coronation tour. There’s a darkness in the kingdom, Zaethan is getting ready for a challenge from his rival, and Luscia is dealing with gaps in her training as a warrior and weird things with her Sight. This book is amazing and it made me not want to stop reading!!! I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I’ll just say I love everything about this book!! The action and battle scenes were awesome, some shocking revelations happen, and there’s even some romantic elements!! I have to say I hope a certain two characters get over their issues and follow their hearts, not what they might believe their duty is!! I can’t wait for the next book!!!!!!
I am so grateful to Books of Match Media and the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
So this fantasy was SO COOL! I have had the first book on my tbr for SO LONG and I was so excited to get the sequel so I could read both.
I LOVE this book world so much. It is so detailed and unique, but be prepared to take your time with this read. There is so much going on and THERE ARE SO MANY NAMES OMG... Take notes people! TAKE NOTES!
I love LOVE LOVE Luscia and Zaethan.... BUT WHY CAN’T THEY JUST F**K already... It is definitely on my Christmas List this year SANTA! This sequel gave me a little something and all my dreams were dashed again... You chose wrong Luscia... why would you do this to meeeeeeee..
I’m saying my review has spoilers because I just want to say the King doesn’t die. He’s my favorite and in the middle I began to feel something was about to happen with them continuing to talk about how sick his is I was really worried something was going to happen to Dimitri. If that day comes, I will cry.
Saying that, I enjoyed this book more than the first. I thought the beginning was a tad slow but still interesting. I love the authors detail to things and I love that she makes you feel you’re there for battles and even with Zaethean and Luscia training.
I’m not sure I could guess what could happen next but I do look forward to the next book of the series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Can I just say how amazing this book is? It was a joy to read despite all the turmoil the characters are put through. The writing is pristine and the worldbuilding is stellar. And yet the characters outshine everything else. So much development happens, building on relationships started in House of Bastiion. I love the fierce Luscia and Zaethan is my boy! And some characters ought to have their throats cut… This book is full of the unexpected and it is truly an amazing read. The slow burn romance is perfect. If you enjoy epic fantasy you seriously have to give this series a try!
I received an ARC from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This book was everything I had hoped it would be and more. A beautifully written imaginative story with extensive world building. I was so immersed in this epic fantasy that it plagued all the seconds of each day since reading the first page.
I am blown away by the creativity and finesse put into this story. K.L outdid herself with the imagery and cultures experienced through out this book.
I am completely left wanting more! More of the court politics, more of the action, more of the world building and more of the exceptionally written characters that now hold a piece of my heart.
