This book ended like the slamming of the door and I was not prepared for such an intense ending. Only one book left in the series but now we know who the Grand Master is. We know whose so obviously threatened by Lilith they’re spending time and resources on taking her out. Somehow though, they seem to be winning and I have no idea how. Lilith is comparatively young to the other demons on the young court and sometimes her youth shows. However unlike the old farts Lilith has different ideas on how demon-kind should live. She’s particularly passionate about the Unshown and I loved that they finally have a voice after years of repression. I already know after the inevitable showdown in the final book, changes will be made in their world and I’m almost positive it’ll be Lilith in a position of power bringing forth such change.
Once again the book was not bogged down by an abundance of sex even with 7 mates. The strange god really knew what he was doing because all of her guys each bring different talents and tricks that get them out of a tight pinch on more than one occasion. I’m really enjoying this series and can’t wait to see how it ends.

We finally move forward in the plot.

Now, I really wish I had more to say. This series started out strong and then it’s been wonky at best from there. In my opinion.

Seven dicks, and it’s hard to represent them all.
Enzo saw his shining moment in the previous books but for this one, he was mostly out. Nonexistent for like half of it.
Jin, Kain, and Aeron are still sitting comfortably in the back burner getting all toasty. Though I’m happy to report Aeron does get some tiny devotion of time in her busy schedule.
Blaze is everywhere in this book.
Daron, bless his heart, finally got the V.
And Bane is making a comeback.

There were times I’d have to count all of their names just to make sure they were all alive.

Nonetheless, Lilith enters Blaze’s red room where we all find out she’s actually.... wait for it... an experienced pole dancer.
???
She’s a child.
Was this mentioned before??
Not sure why this tidbit of info was such a surprise in this book but I feel as though it was haphazardly thrown in there for some wow factor.

The unshown are trying to keep their rights.
Some exciting news about the bad people only wanting three castes.
Poison, poison everywhere.
Do I believe Saxon at the end???
Not really.

The last tidbit, in Rina’s POV, doesn’t bode well.
Am I intrigued?
Were you??
I barely am to finish the next book but let’s seee what happens.

Slow going

This one was slow going and some of the plot was completely obvious to me. Who was going to do what, where they were going to be and what game they are playing.

I do like seeing the relationships bloom but I still felt like they are just meandering around with only semi formed plans and information.

And of course the action alllll happened in the back 10%.

Overall I am interested to see where this goes, how this story pays out.

With seven mates and her being a succubus you'd think she is drowning in sex, but no, sex is sporadic, mostly glossed over, briefly mentioned or not happening at all since she is so swamped with school work. Then this is year 3 she still hasn't had sex with 2 of her mates how is this possible? No other man would wait years just so she feels wooed and romanced that's as stupid as it comes, she is ready to have the sex you can still romance her after that.

As the new Lady Carazor and in her third year at Vice College, Lilith has more responsibilities and problems than ever.

Her presence is required at the Assembly, the demons' pit of political snakes, each with their own agenda.

The Syndicate wants to kill her.

The Rebels want her influence.

And her mates cannot be together for one hour without fighting.

Despite being repented, Bane's actions have scared her. Her other mates are protective of her heart and are not eager to give Bane another opportunity.
Blaze is in overprotective mode.
Aeron is now a professor and their time together is limited.
Darren tries to mediate.
Enzo has no problems in killing everyone who hurts her.
And Kain and Jin try to do whatever is best for Lilith.

Plus, the challenging class work, her new responsibilities as Lady Carazor and trying to survive the political games and assassination attempts.

But the Assembly is destabilised and new forces are coming into power. And they want to make troubling changes.

***

Notes:

🔸 World building: interesting but messy

It is not the most developed, immersive, complex or innovative world but it has an interesting, well supported take on demons and the 7 deadly sins.
This third book gets more of the political side of it, with intrigues, allies and enemies, assassinations attempts and secret societies. But the delivery is not the best and it comes a bit messy, incoherent and inconsistent at times.

🔸Castes

It is fascinating how the sins are turned into castes and how those are related to the way the demons gain their power, especially if the addition of the sub-castes are taken into consideration.

For example:
- Someone from sloth with sub-caste sleep: their power charges when they sleep but that does not mean they cannot be athletic people

But also, some demons really are the embodiment of their sin.
For example:
- Someone from Sloth, sub-caste Indifference is indeed completely indifferent to everything.

Sometimes it is mentioned genetics as well, but overall it does get a bit confusing what really decides the caste and how it is related to the characters' personalities and behaviours.

And it gets even more confusing when trying to understand the Unshown.

🔸Academy setting

This third book escapes from the academy setting a lot.
There are less and less scenes of them in classes and learning and more of them outside of the Academy (which is forbidden but they constantly manage to do it without difficulty nor getting caught or in trouble) to go on dates or for official matters or to deal with their enemies.

🔸Mates

More lust than love.
Still cute and with some funny and sweet scenes but it does get tiring when most of their interactions are just to have some type of sex or to flex their alpha male behaviour onto one another, especially between the males.

🔸 Inconsistencies

There are plenty of small inconsistencies that do get annoying:

- instances when the information/act/behaviour is contradictory with previous scenes

- someone being accepted as a professor when it is wildly known they have a relationship with one of the students

- Lilith accepting her place as Lady and not even preparing for it. She doesn't look for information nor tries to learn what she should do nor what she needs to know to do her new job. Nor does she try to learn about the demons she has to deal with. She simply asks her friend for information and completely relies on others instead of also looking for answers herself.
And then she accepting anyone into her house. Wasn't she only supposed to accept those who have Carazor blood? Isn't a house about the bloodline? At least that was the idea it gave initially. But then she accepts her mates (who are not of her bloodline) and others who have no relation to her like Viv. So which is it?

- immature and naive behaviour, even for those who have hundreds of years

- over reactions, and when those get together with their immaturity and naivety it does get unnecessarily overdramatic

- Lilith's too forgiving nature
Actually we might not even call it forgiving as she barely gets upset before she is over whatever happened. In reality, her behaviour is frequently incoherent with a person's regular response.
Not the best characters' behaviour development.

- lack of backbone: especially Lilith
She acts as if she is total badass, a fighter, eager to stand by her ideals and morals. But then when the moment comes and she says she is going to keep her standing, defend her choices and face her opposition, she folds how so easily and quickly.
This happens so many times she is giving me fake vibes. Worse even when all her mates and friends support her choice to fold.
Okay I get the author wanted to show that folding might have been a better choice than fighting and confrontation in those scenes. But at least they should have put more of a fight before submitting or the characters start loosing any standing or respect from others as they do not do what they preach nor are they people that defend what they believe in.

- lack of normal curiosity/behaviour
Things go wrong but they barely try to understand why or deal with it.
For example with the poison or the assassination attempts.
The characters just take those at face value. They do not try to analyse what happened nor really try to understand how it happened in order to to deal with it or prevent it from occurring again.
They do not look for the angles, do not investigate.
And some of them are supposedly quite smart, with knowledge of how surveillance works, battle experience or even investigation.
But not once do they do a proper work.
They simply say "I don't know how it happened", "I didn't find a trace" and "it must have been the Syndicate (or whoever else they believe is to blame)".
But no investigation. They do not truly discuss what happened, nor do they debate ideas or try some leads nor impose protective measures.
They simply continue as they always did because surely it wasn't anyone they had been in contact with but at the same time they don't know who their enemies can be.

- duels and death
Duels aren't supposed to be to the death in order to protect their declining numbers.
But then, in the assembly, it is mandatory that every duel is to the death.
And according to the dueling rules (at least from what I recall from the first two books), they cannot decline fighting a duel, save a couple of exceptions (none that would apply at the assembly most of the time).
So...??? Huh??

As always my complete respect for the author and their work.

I'm almost there! I almost made it through Mistry's entire backlist! Which means that the long waiting for new books written by her will start quite soon too. The first two books in this series were clearly the first books Mistry published, but it's a lot of fun to see the author growing and learning and getting better at every aspect of writing. I was therefore really looking forward to dive into this third book in the series.

It's quite clear that the author grew quite a bit since the first two books in the series. Everything about this book feels way more like her books in other series. The balance between the moments that are described in detail and skipped over is much better, the focus on what's important and what isn't has improved and the dialogues also feel a lot more natural in this book. And while I enjoyed the first books, I loved this one!

I mostly loved this book because of the politics. Of course there was also some politics in the first two books, but we were mostly hearing about it and we were not really seeing or experiencing it. We knew that bad things were coming and there was this one assassination attempt, but the threats felt a little far away. In this book that all changed. Our heroine is now participating in the politics, which means we see more of it, and the threats get way more serious!

I still think that having seven men in the harem is a little much. Not because I think there should be a limit to how many guys a girl can love, but because it means that there are always guys getting more or less attention and being more or less present. Although I did feel like we get to see the harem as a whole a lot more in this book, it still feels like there are some guys we've barely seen in this installment and have barely done anything.

However, I'm really excited to dive into the last book of the series!

Wow

I was afraid this 3rd book would become repetitive after the first two years of Lilith at Vice Academy but I was wrong.

Marie Mistry managed to keep me invested with some unexpected twists and revelations in this one. The guys are really good for Lilith though I would like her to be included more in the group decisions. While a lot of the actions has now been explained, there’s definitely more to come and I’m ready for it !

Ok

This one was just okay. Didn't have as much action as the last two.

It got confusing at the end as the people who you had opinions on as good or bad is twisting.

I knew it, I so KNEW it!!! I won't spoil anything, but by golly I knew it!!!!

This is such an awesome book! I am on the edge of my seat, going along for the ride with all the action and mystery. The author is making me fall in love with an assassin...he's such a sweetheart!! For a book on succubus and lust demons, this book has a really good ratio between character development, sexy times and plot advancements. The author could have focused on the sexy times and really established that aspect of the book over everything else, but I"m really glad that she's not focused on the type of demon Lilith is and instead focuses on the type of character Lilith is.
I am super amazed that this is a new author (according to Amazon this is her third book) and want to encourage everyone to give her a go - such amazing books! Thank goodness the fourth book came out a couple of days ago...this book ended on a cliffhanger and my book hangover would have been seriously painful if I had to wait any longer to dive into the next book!!!

Jin Sharax is my absolute favourite because
- he’s freaking adorable
- cuddles

- possessive and territorial of a SOFA, and only allows our baby Lilith to sit on it shhsshhssjdj this shit funny af
- HE’S ASIAN (swoon) 💖👄💖 (‘cause y’know, I’m Asian... and not every book has Asian boys)

"“I said no,” I repeated, standing and brushing down my uniform. “I am the Head of House Carazor and a Lady of the High Chamber. I'm sure Professor Pruitt will be happy to go through the hundred or so etiquette rules you just breeched with your little display of self-entitlement. Till then, you should know that the next one of your friends who tries to touch me without my permission will be subjected to my other gifts and I promise you I can make your showing look like a cake walk.”"

***** Review with spoilers *****

Unfortunately, another disappointment. This book only had just enough to leave you curious to see how things end, so you keep going more out of curiosity than because you’re actually enjoying the whole thing.

Again, we have problems being fixed before they even have time to be problems. Like, you’re telling me that Fintan, who in one moment couldn’t say a word about his involvement with the Syndicate because of his vow, is suddenly completely free in seconds just because Lilith’s imp bit him and dissolved it? Or that out of nowhere it’s perfectly fine for Lilith to miss all her classes, with no explanation needed for the headmistress, simply because she got sick? It just doesn’t make sense how so many things are done, explained, or fixed without any consequences.

Another problem that came up again was the author adding more and more to Lilith’s plate. And I’m not even talking about her responsibilities here - did we really need to add a BDSM situation too? Even if you forget how overwhelmed she already is, throwing in a BDSM room with all its rules and details is just too much for a book that already has a why-choose setup, seven mates, supernatural powers, and all the rest. It gets to the point where there’s so much going on that you feel lost. Overwhelmed and underwhelmed at the same time. Overwhelmed because of how many things are being thrown at the story from all sides, but underwhelmed because none of it is properly developed. It honestly feels like the author wanted to include as many ideas as possible but couldn’t give any of them the care they needed.

And since we’re on the subject of sex… the sex scenes? I skipped all of them. I couldn’t care less about those moments or that kind of involvement between them. At this point, I’m so used to seeing her mates show up only when they’re needed that it doesn’t add anything for me. Jin and Kain are the first ones who feel like they’re just there to serve their purpose and hand over their gifts when the story requires it. We barely had any relationship development with them — and honestly, there isn’t much development in any of the relationships. They’re all just there to provide whatever Lilith needs. And I’m not even blaming Lilith for treating them this way; it’s more like the author created them solely to support her and give her their powers. It’s all too superficial. There’s no real personality being built beyond their gifts, no romance unless you count the few moments with Daron. The rest of the mates are more about feeding her through sex than anything else.

And to close things up — where the hell are the people who swore to protect her? The ones who built an entire secret society around keeping her alive and making her life easier? Because I didn’t see them doing much of anything, other than Bane’s mom basically serving as Lilith’s unshown servant — which still could’ve happened because of their mating bond anyway. The secret society felt like another “cool idea” that was added just because it sounded amazing, not because the story actually needed it. I honestly believe the book could have been stronger and the events more impactful if that part had been properly developed.

In the end, I keep reading this series because Marie Mistry’s writing is addictive, and because I want to see how Lilith’s story finally plays out, not because I really care about any of the other elements. If it weren’t for the overarching story around Lilith, I wouldn’t care at all about these books filled with ideas that sound good on paper but don’t actually make sense in execution. I know it’s her first series, and yes, this book is a little better compared to the first, but it’s still been a disappointment — especially when I compare it with the other two series by the same author that I absolutely loved and couldn’t put down.

The truth is, this series keeps moving forward because of its addictive writing and the curiosity it sparks, not because of its execution. And while that might be enough to keep me turning the pages, it also leaves me wishing it could finally slow down, take its time, and let me actually care about the characters I’m following.

Main characters: Lilith Carazor, Aeron Saxon, Blaze Inferna, Daron Abraxon, Jin Sharax, Kain Zenunim, Bane Krossian and Enzo Orfo.

Tropes: reverse harem/why choose, chosen one, secret identity, fated mates, moraly grey, found family.

Supernatural types: all demons, different powers, subpowers and houses. Lilith - lust, succubus; Aeron - lust, aphrodisia; Blaze - wrath, violence; Daron - envy, possession; Jin - slot, slumber; Kain - pride, accomplishment; Bane - greed, acquisition;
Enzo - gluttony, indulgence.

I just read Marie Mistry’s debut RH series, Vice School for Demons. Based on the seven deadly sins, we see a secret society of Demons co-existing with humans. Still-to-be-shown Lilith wants nothing more than to lead an ordinary life. Sadly, she doesn’t have that option.

Reaching the school is a walk into the medieval era. The school is a no-electricity zone for the students, but there is a lot underfoot for the common public. The place itself and society are breeding grounds for corruption and conspiracies.

Lilith, being the Chosen One, is smacked into the middle, where all her close ones are in trouble from players unseen. She is an idealistic person who believed in Live and Let Live but her Cast Showing- Lust and the appearance of Horns forced her to grow up and take charge of her life before the others do it for her.

It is every man for himself except for her mates by her side. I loved the secret society and the supporting characters. I always like the protagonists, so that’s not a new thing, but Professor Aoife and Prime Carver were some of my favourite grey characters.

I am saving the mates for the last because this could last a while. All of Lilith’s mates are mind candy. I imagine them to be these cute, handsome males with their characters and I can only hope to find aesthetic images for them because they do not exist in my vicinity.

Aeron is the first protector along with Blaze and Bane. But my favourite mates are Daron, Enzo and Kain in this order. I absolutely love that Daron is a tech genius, has gifts of metal manipulation and his specs and gentlemanly personality with a wild desire for Lilith push him to the top.

Enzo gives off TVD vibes of his namesake from the series. He is the anti-hero you all will love. He is always by Lilith’s side, but does not smother her in protection. Kain is the definition of Sugar Daddy and is the purse holder for the group. Bane could have made the list, but he went stupid in the third book of the series.

I loved the exploration of the world. Past, Present and Future, along with the mind-boggling revelations from all sides. I was totally engrossed in the book all the way. This series is ripe for the picking and I am so thankful that it caught my eye on my Kindle Unlimited recommendations.

This is perfect for readers who love paranormal romance and have a fascination with the occult side. The healthy dose of spice is enough to tempt any readers like me.

Whoa, talk about a cliffhanger!
With just one installment left in the series, the stakes are higher than ever. We finally know who the Grand Master is, the puppeteer behind the threats looming over Lilith. (I admit I didn't see that coming at all, but hey, that's the beauty of plot twists!)
And let me tell you, they're playing for keeps.

Despite her youth compared to the old guard, Lilith's vision for demon-kind sets her apart. Her passion for the Unshown gives voice to the repressed, hinting at seismic changes on the horizon. I have a feeling she'll be the catalyst for some serious shake-ups in their world.

But what really hooked me in this installment? The politics. We're not just hearing about the threats anymore; we're in the thick of it, navigating treacherous waters alongside Lilith. The danger feels palpable, and I'm here for it!

I'm eagerly diving into the final book. Here's to hoping it's a thrilling conclusion to an already gripping series

P.s Have I already mentioned my immense love for Enzo? I know choosing between the 7 mates it's difficult, but what can I say? I've got a soft spot for the bad boys, the ones who'd burn the world down for her... If you catch my drift 😉

This is the closest I've come to rating a book four stars and yet have it still fall short.

This was good. The plot twists are getting more and more interesting as we move along and while some of the twists were easy to see from a mile away this time around, they were still fun to unravel and watch come to life.

The first half though? Yeah, a drag.

If the first half had been as fun as the second was, even without revelations and mystery, I would've rated this four stars for sure. But it was just boring, filled with unnecessary scenes

Either way, I had a blast and I can't wait to read the next one!

This is finally getting nail-bitting-ly interesting and I'm excited.

Meh

It's just all drama and no romance, no spice and she just lets them run rough shot all over her. She barely even gets mad or irritated for like 3 seconds then let's everything go. It's super irritating. It's one thing to let a guy control you in the bedroom but to then all just tell you what to do and go begging your back to rules and meeting without you and then do what they want no matter what because they know better, they're protecting your body but completely ignoring your mind and emotions, it's just really frustrating that they do it over and over again and she's completely apathetic to it all. If she had any emotions about it at all they only last second until they use sex and she's like, whatever I just need your body so it's fine now. But they barely even had sex in this series at all. She's a succubus and so is half the cast but all her men avoid her for weeks at a time and then they top up her power by kissing her once a week. It's ridiculous. I just don't like any of these relationships. None are healthy and she has almost no emotions until someone's going to die. Frustrating.

This one was a little less engrossing as the others. Not to say it was terrible, it was just the first time I skim read a few times, and it kind of waffled a little.

Having said that, everything that happened, needed to happen (just some of it, not for so long!).

This was very much a middle type book, where you're piled with information, shown history, given glimpses of possible futures in this case with the seers (which was def interesting!) and once again so many Twists and turns that leaves you questioning who's on liliths side and who's against.

With lilith fighting against the poison the whole book the main question is who is giving it to her? Closely followed by HOW??! I had my guesses, and... I wasn't even close!

This is a great book for its Twists. Truly not obvious answers which makes reading this that much better!

This cliffhanger leaves a lot in the air... Even with the epilogue from Rina!

Happily carrying on......!!

Worth the wait!

I really love this series. When book 2 came out, I downloaded it on release day and finished it in a few hours because I was just so hooked into the story. But that left me with a problem - waiting months for book 3. Sometimes I've been so excited for a book but it doesn't live up to my expectations when I finally get to read it; however, A Demon's Wings was totally worth the wait. The characters are amazing and the characterization is consistent, the world of secret demons in human society with a complex political structure is really intriguing, and there are plenty of twists and turns in the plot to keep you guessing and hurrying to find out what happens next. Unfortunately now I have to wait several more months until book 4, but if the next book is anything like the others in the series, I'm sure it will also be worth the wait.

Amazing series

This series is one of the few series that I believe deserves 5 stars (5 stars mean perfection, is they are very difficult for me to give due to magnitude of perfection). I absolutely love this series. Now to explain the 3 star rating, if you're going to leave that kind of cliffhanger, you do not wait an approximately six months for the sequel! I could even get behind the cliffhanger if the author didn't wait so long to bring out the next installment because by the time it comes out, I'm going to have to reread this book just to know what's going on. Absolutely yes I will be continuing this series. I'm almost certain that by the finale, this book will definitely be receiving 5 stars and more. This author is amazing, bottom line!

I absolutely loved that we finally got some action in this book and not just vague mentioning of what is to come and classes. I was happy that Lilith finally knows how all the guys felt about her during this book but I was a little annoyed on how they guys (especially Blaze) treated Bane. While I understand that Bane needed to work to build trust with Lilith again, them forcing him to follow all those ridiculous rules made it difficult for that to happen. I was also happy that my idea regarding one of the characters was right. Overall I did like this book even if some of the guys acted ridiculous towards each other and I can't wait to see what happens to these characters.

I freaking knew it!!!

Ok maybe I just had my theories but I just had a gut feeling I knew who the culprit was!! Although no was trying to figure out how the doses were happening. As always this book was super captivating and hard to put down. The things that Lilith and her guys have to go through, along with all of their friends, is horrible! There is more relationship and character growth as well as action. The ending once again threw me completely off and I can't wait to see where this goes!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of my absolute favourite series ever. Iv read this series so many times its permanently on my reread list... I love reading about the developing relationships between the FMC and her men... Reading her story and how she manages to navigate through politics.. being chosen by the God and dealing with her own family on top of going to school and learning that she was a succubus and what that means for her. Absolutely love it. Can't get enough.. well deserving of 5 stars.
