I pick my sticky note off the bedroom mirror. Hire a new nanny asap.
I'm new to the team so making new friends is just part of the process we go through when we get traded. The official hockey season has kicked off and the Maulers are finding their groove on the ice. It's customary for us to grab opportunities where we can get together after a win. It's one way to unwind over beers and rounds of shots. My divorce was so vengeful I've sworn off women indefinitely, with one exception. I don't remember much of last night because I wake up with two females in my bed. Last night's hot little number and my toddler who's jumping up and down asking for Mickey-shaped pancakes.

I look forward to Zoe's books with so much anticipation and she never disappoints. Simon and Bella's story is really well written and it developed at a perfect pace with a beautiful ending. I can't wait for the next Maine Maulers book. I received an ARC copy and am giving an honest review.
Benched by the Nanny is my first book by Zoe Beth Geller, but it will not be the only novel I read by this amazing author! Ms. Geller took me on an unanticipated journey with Simon, a professional hockey player who was traded to the Maine Maulers Hockey team due to the scandal his divorce and custody battle with his nasty ex-wife caused. He is the main caretaker for his sweet and more than adorable daughter Kaarina, who brought back memories of when my kids were toddlers. While bonding with his new teammates at their local hangout, Simon sets his eyes on Bella, a student by day and a bartender at night. Bella catches Simon's eyes and reciprocates her interest, but she cannot afford to lose her job or be sidetracked from her plans. And, although her body may be singing Simon’s song, Bella rejects his advances and informs him of the no fraternization policy the bar owner has for his employees dating his patrons. Simon takes this as a challenge and the pursuit begins. I will not spoil the rest of their story but will say things turned out very differently than I anticipated. Benched has all the feels a romance reader could want and then some, making my emotional range ricochet from wanting to knock Simon on the head a few times for being so obtuse about a woman’s feelings and needs, to smiling in my heart for how gently and sweetly Simon interacts with Kaarina, to gulping down huge quantities of ice-cold water because of the hot scenes between Simon and Bella. The supporting characters had one liners worthy of many of my friends which allowed me to settle into the story rather quickly and most comfortably. This author is a keeper, and I can’t wait to see what else she has written and/or will write!
Simon was traded over some stuff that happened and is now with the Maulers as a defenseman and setting down roots in Maine. He is divorced and has custody of his 2 yr old daughter Kaarina. It wasn't easy and he still is fighting to keep custody and now he finds out his nanny who came with him from Nashville wants to go back home to her family. Bella is working at a bar, going to college for her degree to be a Psychiatrist and living with her roommate barely getting by. The hockey team comes into her bar but she knows she can't go out with them or she loses her job but that doesn't stop the attraction or of Simon hitting on her. Turns out one night she couldn't find her car keys so Simon gave her a ride and they hooked up. She loses her job and desperately needs a new one. Having a degree in early childhood she goes and applies for nanny jobs and gets sent to Simon's house for a job. Is it fate? Where do they go from here?
Benched by the Nanny is the fourth book in the Maine Maulers Hockey Series and pulls you into Simon and Bella's journey as they face drama, heat, sizzling passion and unexpected paths that will have you lost in the pages.
Simon has just been traded to the Maine Maulers, after her private life spilled into the locker room. Now with a new team, recent divorce and his young daughter to raise, Simon is doing the best he can. Bella is working at the bar, going to school to be a psychiatrist, hiding her true passion that took her mother from her.
Simon meets Bella at the bar, which has a no fraternization with the players rules. Their connection is electric but needs the job. Things take a twist when Bella gets fired and Simon needs a nanny, fate brings them together and takes on path the never saw coming.
Great read from start to finish and a perfect addition to the series
I received a free copy of this book via author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have only read a couple of this author’s books, but I will definitely be looking for more by her! I was so enamored by the entire book. Simon is a professional hockey player with a 2 year old daughter, Kaarina. Bella is a struggling student who works at a bar with a strict no fraternizing policy with the bar’s guests. Well, once everyone finds out that Bella and Simon have violated that policy, Bella comes to be his daughter’s nanny. This book definitely pulls at your heartstrings where Kaarina is involved. I completely enjoyed this book and will be looking for more books by Zoe Beth Gellar! I received a copy of this book on return for an honest review.
This is my favorite Maine Mauler book so far. I’ve loved them all so that is saying something. Simon and Bella’s story was so heartwarming that I laughed, cried and couldn’t wait for the end. Simon is now my favorite Mauler. I will have to wait and see who shows up in the next book. Great series Zoe Beth Geller there are lots more players, keep writing and keep us up to date on the first four couples please.
Fate kept bringing them together. And they both fought hard against it.
Simon has trust and commitment issues after a nasty divorce. Bella has abandonment issues from her mother death. Their love story was forbidden once she started working for him. Their chemistry was electric. This story wasn’t as light hearted as some of the others in the series but it was really enjoyable.
I read this story in one day. Coffee, sunshine and Zoe's books, what more could I ask for? This is book 4 in the Maine Maulers, and the series just gets better and better. Simon has been traded to the Maulers, he is battling his ex-wife in an acrimonious divorce, and parenting his toddler daughter. He needs a new nanny quickly, and fate puts one right in his path. Well developed story, fun characters and real life problems are all in this story. Cannot wait for book 5. Zoe never disappoints. This review is entirely my own opinion.
Bella and Simon skirting around their obvious attraction for each other was entertaining. When single dad Simon is in need of a nanny and Bella is in need of a job fate pulls them together. It was well written and easily drew me in with the relatable emotions.
I received this copy and spoiler free review is voluntary
As always Zoe Beth brings us a great hockey story with a twist. A divorce hockey player who needs a nanny. Then falls in love but denied it and push her away , for her benefit. Great read in the Maine mauler’s series
First time reading Zoe’s books and it won’t be the last, loved it from the first chapter characters written well and I loved the back story of Bella and Simon. If you love to read hockey romance then is a book for you. Moving on to the rest of the Maine Maulers 4 1/2 ⭐️
This was bad. The timeline was completely screwed. The flow of the storyline was non-existent. This felt like a school assignment first draft. It needed a couple of read throughs, a sensitivity read through, and someone with some actual hockey knowledge to provide guidance.
The story was cute, but the typos and editing issues were so painful. A simple proofread would have helped tons. Such a shame that a fun romance was ruined by a lack of editing.
Quit talking about how fat and plain looking you are. The first dew chapters were awful and it did not get better. Girl get some self confidence put on makeup go the gym or just be happy with who you are but stop complaining
It was really badly written. Very disjointed. Coherence of thoughts was not maintained , lots of errors and overall the story, the theme , the chemistry did nothing to take away from the mistakes.
*thank to the author for giving me this arc. * 3.5/5 stars. This was not the book for me. I had a few issues with it from the beginning until the 50% mark but I guess it could be preference. The beginning was hard for me cause there wasn’t dialogues and I find it hard to get into a book if there’s no dialogue or anything of the sort. Now the final part of the book felt rushed, I don’t know how else to explain it. I loved the epilogue, it made me really happy Karina being official to Bella. Now I loved both characters and I loved Simon’s little girl. I loved Bella’s relationship with Karina, the toddler. They were so adorable together! From the moment they met they liked each other and their relationship was beautiful to see. I loved how Simon fell in love with Bella and how seeing her with his daughter made him fall even more in love.
All in all I enjoyed certain parts of the story but sadly this one wasn’t for me.
