Five years after their attempt at dating crashed and burned, a struggling Beth went to work for rock-star Jacob as his personal assistant. At first, they’re almost friends, but as Jacob becomes the stereotypical hard-partying musician, a wedge builds between them that could be permanent.
When a car accident sidelines Beth with weeks of recovery, she takes it as a sign to change her life and resigns, but Jacob has other plans. He’s still in love with her and won’t give up until she gives him a second chance.
Can Beth and Jacob forgive all the pain they caused each other in the past?
FORGIVEN is the third of five books exploring Beth and Jacob’s relationship with all its joys, flaws, and heartache. Contemporary Romance saga.
I haven't felt this kind of angst since Thoughtless. It is meloncholy and mostly bitter at first, until its mostly sweet. A gobstopper of emotion.
Ahhhh! I loved this book! I am mad Jake treated Beth that way for so long and mad that she ate the shit sandwich. A shitwich, if you will.
BUT, this dynamic felt real to me. I love that Jake got to the the point he was barely redeemable. The most difficult parts to read included Jake parading girls in front of Beth. I don't know if it was worse that he was too fucked up to care or know Beth was there to witness it. I almost would have rather him do it on purpose because he was mad and hurt.
P.S. I still am not a fan of these corny covers! There is no rock star theme going on. I don't think a rock star wears khakis like, ever, but that's a whole other story.
So far the series is just ok....Really frustrating at times
Ok, so I've just finished the third book in this series, and don't know if I can keep reading. I don't like the heroine Beth. In the first book Jacob, the hero once says to her "you don't have to be such a bitch". Truer words were never spoken! She does come off as bitchey, judgey, unforgiving, and uptight! I sorta like Jacob, but he has his unlikable moments too. Why have I kept reading you ask? Well, it's one of those things now you know? I've invested so much time, so now I feel compelled to finish. Don't know if I can take much more of Beth though. The way she speaks to Jacob sometimes is just downright mean & rude! Obviously in order for me to like a book I have to like the characters, and Beth is not likeable...not even after three books. Don't understand why Jacob is so desperate to get her back.
*SAME REVIEW FOR ALL FOUR BOOOKS* This box set has 4 out of the 5 books in this series. Overall I did enjoy the storyline and the two main characters, although I felt like it was almost too much up and down struggles at times. The writing style really frustrated me at times, but I considered myself “invested” in the story, so I stuck it out. I wish this would have had the last book included so I could see how the characters ended up after watching so much drama unfold over the years in these 4 books. Outside of this series, I haven’t read anything else by this author to see if the writing style carries over. I will eventually read the last installment once it’s released since I did mention I was invested. I purchased this while it was on sale so it was worth it for me, but I doubt I would pay full price for it if I’m being honest.
Five years since Beth's mom died she has shut down, no emotions, no photography, not really living her life. She runs into Jacob in the grocery store and he offers her a job. He hasn't forgotten his love for her and the heartbreak she caused. Beth becomes the Personal Assistant for Jacob and his band as they go out on tour, she is with the band 24/7 and sees the good bad and ugly. She also gets to see Jacob perform and he is a beauty to watch. She is surprised to hear his first album is dark and all about how she broke his heart which is painful to hear. Jacob is caught up in the fame and lifestyle of a Rock Star. Beth gets in a terrible accident which becomes a real turning point for Jacob and getting himself together. This was a painful story it felt very raw and sad as Beth still remains so shutdown to emotions. Must continue on, has to be light in Loved.
By now Beth and Jacob were barely tolerating each other. What she sees him do is not suitable for her mental health. She even heard him had sex with another woman. She was stuck in the bathroom while that happened. My own heart ached for her. She should have quit yesterday. She was in a wreck, so that was when she resigned, but then that opened Jacob’s eyes. That he can’t lose her, and he changed his loose ways. Is it too late though? Next book will tell.
