An intriguing tale of one woman’s fight for freedom as she tries to save herself from her past.
In The Perilous Road to Freedom, the anticipated sequel to The Perilous Road to Her, N.L. Blandford takes us on Olivia Beaumont’s harrowing journey to find herself and her freedom.
A survivor of William Hammond’s human trafficking ring, Olivia Beaumont longs to forget the past five months. Pregnant, and scared of the ties her past will have to her future, Olivia will need more than denial to battle the monsters of her nightmares, and fate.
Right outside Olivia’s apartment door stands a past she thought was dead and gone. A past believed to have been killed with her own two hands. A past that forces her back into a world of power, greed and manipulation.
Will Olivia’s stubbornness and determination be enough for her to be able to fight the monsters around her, and those in her head, to retake her freedom?
If I had realized this was a "you must read them all" series I would not have started it. Book 1 was good, but not for me. I could not face reading the next two books all the way through and just skimmed.
Blandford’s sophomore effort, The Perilous Road to Freedom, is a suspense-filled, gripping novel. Although there is slightly less focus on human trafficking than in its predecessor, there’s still a lot of anxiety-inducing atrocities being committed.
Olivia Beaumont is back and causing heart rates to spike. In this follow-up novel to The Perilous Road to Her, Olivia is drawn back into the Hammond’s orbit. Even as she finds herself inexplicably drawn toward William Hammond, in his kinder moments, Olivia knows that the entire family is irredeemable. Readers meet Helen, William’s Aunt, who is clearly in charge of the vast empire, and is as cold-hearted as they come.
Olivia’s pregnancy is full of turbulence and surprises as well, leading a reader to never quite know if freedom can be obtained. The author has great skill in making the reader feel the emotions of her characters, as the book continues.
I’m hoping Blandford has plans for book #3 as I, for one, am anxious to read this continuing saga.
Blandford is back with the second book in “The Road” series and does not disappoint! All Olivia wants is to live her life in peace. But that’s not going to happen anytime soon. Being pregnant with the child of a murderer is bad enough but it gets worse when he shows up at her door, seemingly back from the dead. Full of suspense, and more than one surprise twist, this book had me up reading all night!
As I stated in my review of the first book, I am not a novel reader but supporting a coworker, the author, I purchased the first book and couldn’t put it down. When the second book was available I purchased it immediately. Again, could not put it down. I finished the book in 9 days, would’ve been less if I didn’t have to work ~haha From page 1, you are immediately pulled back into Olivia’s world & rooting for her! A few surprise twists, suspenseful & exciting… Cannot wait to read the third and final book of the Road series. Excited to see what NL Blandford does next!!
