Finding Love at the Doggy Spa #1

Hate to Love the Inspector

Rate this book
I might end up in jail for sticking this man’s head under a fur-fluffer before the day is out.

I thought things were moving along well with my job as a groomer of naughty puppies at the Dog’s Paw Dog Spa. I can handle the most troublesome of four-legged furballs, so it can't be much harder to manage the male species of the two-legged variety, right?

Wrong.

Sure, things were a bit stressful with the upcoming entry exam for vet school, and my aunt who raised me hasn’t been doing well, but all of that was nothing compared to now.

Inspector Buckley waltzes into the Dog’s Paw Dog Spa and turns everything upside down.

If there ever was the perfect example of an arrogant, cocky, selfish hunk of man, it’s Inspector Buckley. He's here to shut down the spa, and I've got to stop him.

But then again, there’s something stirring under that tough exterior, if only he would let it show a little more…

And if he does, what then?

Hate to Love the Inspector and the puppy antics of the Dog’s Paw Dog Spa will have you giggling and swooning. Because puppy love and puppies are one of the world’s greatest combinations!

Enjoy this happy ending with a dose of furball madness.

Featuring ~ dual 1st person POV, no steamage

Another clean, sweet, slow burn story from Ms. Woods. Amelia has a one track mind - get into vet school without any distractions. Rob starts off as quite the cocky inspector that thinks "all my demands must be met, or else!" After he starts hanging out with Amelia we see the sweet, caring side to this guy. His boss puts him in a situation that you just hope he does the right thing.
I liked Amelia and Rob's story well enough, but I didn't like that she ran herself ragged with all the studying and second guessing herself. And as always, I do love reading about the dogs though.

DNF. The heroine was ok but Rob wasn't my kind of hero at least he didn't appear to be in the 1st few chapters. Somewhat too interested in his appearance and the fact that he looked forward to using his position to intimidate/impress the employees of the places he inspected but gives them a wink at the same time (??!?). Struck me as totally smarmy.

Sorry not for me. Maybe he gets better but that really put me off.
Also a rather excessive and unnecessary use of "!". I felt like my eyebrows were being pulled up every once in a while.

Ah Amelia and Rob’s story was cute!

Amelia is working hard at her job at the doggy day spa to pay for bills and her future career. She’s drive and fierce. She wants what she wants and will do all she can to get there including working with the troubled dogs nobody else will, dogs that cause absolute mayhem and dogs that are a little snappy, Amelia doesn’t care, she loves dogs and she’ll help them. So when an inspector is thrusted upon the team at the doggy spa everything is thrown into chaos.

Rob is currently trying to make his way up in his job. His boss has him currently working, inspecting salons making sure they’re up to date with health and safety codes. So when his boss tells him he needs to work a doggy spa he’s thrown but not only that, there’s more to the job than what his boss is telling him.

So when he meets the girl who will help him he’s shocked to find out it’s the girl from the coffee shop he met earlier. When push comes to shove we get to see just have far these two will go to make sure their jobs are secured but in doing so the other is going to get hurt.

This story has been quite the read. It’s fun, interesting and heart warming at the same time.

Although I loved it I can’t stop thinking about some flaws I found.

Like Rob, the guy was annoying at times. Surely men cannot be as gullible as he seemed to be, surely he’d should be able to read the vibe she gave off at the start instead of think she loved it?? Like really, that was so weird to me.

Then there was the constant back and forth with Amelia. Like, give the guy a damn break and stop acting like a yo-yo.

But other than that everything was great, the story was amazing, the writing was well written. I absolutely adored meeting these two and need to find out what happens with the other characters.

Literally the whole book revolves around a plot point at the inspection office that is NEVER RESOLVED. If you spend fully 25% of the writing and plot development around a point, you should resolve it.

Hate to Love?

I think this was a very cute story between Rob and Amelia. I think when I hear hate to love, I’m expecting more of that hate relationship before it turns to love. However, before I was even done with 50% of the book, the hate evaporated and there wasn’t really a whole lot of hate. Just one big blow up and then it all shifted towards love.

This is a story about Amelia, hard working woman who doesn't believe in supportive men. She has already had the rug ripped from under her feet by her ex and she most certainly doesn't need any more help from men.

Rob had dreams of becoming a firefighter but they were soon dashed when he wanted to be by his brothers side. He is now a health inspector and since he is trying to be a fourth grade health inspector he is going on a special assignment except this assignment is a doggie day spa which Amelia works at.

Amelia and Rob have a cute meet. She runs into him and spills her very hot coffee all over herself and sweetly enough he ends up with lipstick on his shirt collar.

Rob is the dream guy! He is so supportive of Amelia and her dreams.

Amelia seems to be a bit of a perfectionist but she is also a hard worker which sometimes means she forgets to sleep. She is a woman on a mission. She is desperately trying to become a vet, something she has dreamed of being.

I just loved her little pug, Max! He is the cutest thing!

Trigger Warning: Amelia's aunt has health problems that land her in the hospital.

Content: kisses and brief line about "Families aren't that big since the invention of condoms," and a discussion of an ex girlfriend running around naked in Rob's apartment.

I almost stopped reading this one at about 35%, but I decided to read some reviews, and decided it would probably get better. I'm glad I finished. I wasn't loving the characters at the beginning, and the first part of the book felt like one big superlative. It is written in 1st person, which wasn't my favorite this time around, though it normally doesn't bother me. The book hit a point where I felt like I relaxed into the story and started enjoying it more. Rob is actually a really nice guy, and I liked seeing that side of his character. The grand gesture felt a little cheesy, buuut this is a sweet romcom, and you have to expect that every now and then. I'm not sure I'll read the rest of the series, but I didn't regret reading this book.

I liked it overall, just disliked some details.

I decided to give this book a try after reading some reviews and good reads. Summary views weren’t that great saying that the inspector was arrogant, and that she was a pushover. So I wanted to see for myself how was this book.

Yes, the inspector started a little arrogant. He had the pressure of improving in his job, but he wasn’t that bad as the reviews said. What I really didn’t like, maybe at the point of hating to know about it, was that he was a casual dater or had casual sex; what I mean is that the conversation with his brother about that girlfriend that walked around his apartment naked was uncomfortable. And he also mentioned girlS, as in he has been with several girls! It made me think and feel like he was a player. This is not what I want for the heroine. He said: “I haven’t had a girlfriend, not in the real sense, in years.” NOT IN THE REAL SENSE! Oh, well. Things that ruins a book for me. It’s not that he’s experienced that ruins it for me; it’s that he was casual about it, to satisfy a need and that’s it. (It’s my opinion and the way I feel about it)

Besides that, he was sweet with her, he really fell for her from the first moment he saw her, and was also sweet of him to help her study for her test. I didn’t like that he simply gave up on her when she pushed him away. I know he respected her decision, but I would’ve liked him to fight for their love.

It was awesome that he chose to have integrity and ended up doing the right thing about the inspection in the end.

As for her, she really was running herself rugged. She didn’t have to do everything herself she could’ve asked for help. Look for alternatives, not carry all the baggage by herself. At some point, I thought she was going to faint from exhaustion. And that would’ve given Rob the opportunity to take care of her.

In all, it was a good read (muting the discomfort mentioned).

SAFE-ish
h no mention of experience
H he’s experienced (there is a mention of a naked girl in his apartment in the past, and girls)
no ow/om
a short separation
no cheating
little angst

This is part of the Finding Love at the Doggy Spa , I saw the author label it as book 2 elsewhere, but is a standalone. The title & synopsis gives you a good idea of what to expect. It's a dislike to like dual pov sweet romance fans may life.

Amelia is stressed & a worrier. As she tries to balance preparing for the GRE to become a vet & working at the Dog Spa, she feels frustrated & is barely managing to get by. The last thing she needs is a man to distract her & that's what she sees Rob as. Rob has his Inspector persona, which isn't likeable, but his true self couldn't be much different. He's caring, considerate, & has integrity. He slowly starts to find a place in Amelia's life. However, they both have their own jobs to think about making them wonder if there is any time for a relationship as well.

Because of their own concerns, the romance is a slow burn & clean. You may want them to have more romantic moments than they did. They didn't have much time together before they accepted their feelings for the other. The slow is start but I think it gets better. There is some repetitive thoughts & Amelia thinking about studying isn't the most interesting to read. There are also things that aren't fully revealed like exactly what Amelia's ex did or who is responsible for the investigation of the Dog Spabut, overall, this is an easy read.

I really enjoyed this book. Amelia is a young woman working hard to get into vet school, Rob is an investigator for the department of hygiene. When Rob is tasked at inspecting the dog spa Amelia is a groomer at, they hit if off after a few little bumps. Amelia's auntie seems supportive but I feel like she is really holding Amelia back, just because they have had bad experiences with men does not mean all men are bad. Rob does seem a little too good to be true though, he really wants Amelia to achieve her goal even though he was the first to abandon his own career goal when his brother was going through a hard time. This book ticked a lot of boxes for me-cute coffee shop meet, forced proximity, self doubt, supportive friends and my favorite thing about this book was Amelia and Rob made each other want to reach for the stars and go for their goals. I love when the relationship being built in the story makes the couple want to be the best versions of themselves.

Amelia has been raised by her aunt after her parents died when she was very young. Life hasn't always been easy on her and now she struggles to fit everything from learning for a test to get into vet school, grooming dogs with problems and paying off debts from grad school. When she has a very bad day and runs into a wall of muscle on her way out of the cafe, looses her balance and has the scalding beverage running all over her, she doesn't know what's to come next.
When Rob is in line at the Cafe where he is to meet his boss, the woman in front of suddenly turns and runs right into him. He helps her up and something about her intrigues him very much.
Unfortunately they'll meet again two days later when Rob has to do an inspection of The Dog's Paw Dog Spa and is ordered to find anything to close it for good.
Will they find common ground and be able to save the Dog Spa from closing? Can they help each other to achieve their professional dreams?
Find out in this wonderful book.

This is a new to me author. It was an interesting idea for a story. I liked Amelia quite a bit. Rob took a lot longer to like. He was obnoxious early on. I get that how he saw himself was not an accurate picture of how those around him saw him as was the case when Amelia had to assist him with the inspection. But it was almost like he was two different people at the beginning of the book and then the end of the book.

I wanted to know more about the cause for the inspection. Was it in the first book? I haven't read that one so maybe my questions would have been answered if I had. But a full explanation in this book would have been nice.

I felt like there was quite a bit of personal angst in both characters which made it feel less like romcom. I liked how they each helped the other to move forward in life.

This was a great RomCom with many laugh out loud moments. I didn't like Rob to start off but as the story developed, he turned out to be such a caring, kind person full of integrity. And I liked him even more when he was being bashful. I really enjoyed the ending, as who doesn't love a happy ever after. Amelia was great too, but she did go on and on about her exam which grew a bit tedious. Thank goodness she completed her darn exam before the end of the book! It's a light hearted book that does deal with real life situations in a humorous manner. There was also a bonus epilogue that could be downloaded as an ebook which rounded off this couple's relationship to my satisfaction. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Cute, but couldn't get into it.

This book was cute but I just couldn't get into it, I felt a disconnect between myself and the characters. The idea is cute, but the story left something to be desired. As well as with things unresolved and the way the two main characters interact rubs me the wrong way I gave this book a 2.5 stars out of 5 stars. There is a kiss or two between the main characters but this is a full blown Bell Pepper.

If you like sweet romances that are a good casual read then this is one for you. But if you're looking for a book that is going to keep up engaged and is at all steamy the you should look elsewhere.

I hope this helps you find your next Tantalizing Tome.

This was a sweet rom com. I really liked the doggie spa setting and the inspection storyline. Amelia and Rob had a great connection and I enjoyed getting to know them. Having just read the first book in the series I was a bit disappointed not to see more of Doctor Tom in this story, he barely made an appearance and one of the things that I really like about series that are interconnected but can be read as standalones, is that I get to see past characters again, so I really missed that aspect. But this was a great story.

She is working in a dog spa as a groomer and studing to be a vet . While she is at her favorite cafe she bumps at the most handsome man she ever saw . He help her and they part away . He is the inspector who came to inspect the spa and they work together for a week . She does not need a boyfriend to distract her from her life but her heart tells her to give him a chance . He is an amazing man with her , with his family and at the end he make his wish come true because we must not give up our dreams .

Loving the Inspector . . .

Amelia is a “driven” woman who pushes herself too hard. Her goal is to become a vet, and she is determined to reach that goal. Inspector Rob Buckley arrives at the Dog’s Paw Dog Spa and causes more chaos in her life when she determines he is there to shut down the spa, and she must stop him at all costs.

But when he and Amelia work on things together, the supportive and caring part of his nature becomes more obvious. Will they give each other a chance to perhaps join each other and find a way to attain their dreams?

This felt like it was going for quite a few things but never quite hit the mark. There was the whole inspection thing that only lasted 50% of the book and didn't have any real consequences. There was Amelia's dreams and exams that never felt quite right. There was the whole ex backstory and the brother thing that was never explained properly in detail. And don't even get me started on the bloody heart attack.

This wasn't an unpleasant read, and I did like a lot of the aspects separately, they just didn't quite mesh harmoniously.

This book was an enjoyable novella about Amelia and Rob's (Mr. Buckley's) love story. I enjoyed reading how Amelia handled all the different dogs in the Temple of Doom. My favorite was the Great Pyrenees named Moose, who burst in and pinned Amelia against the wall, smelled like a marsh, and was licking her ears. I could just imagine this scene. I highly recommend this book which was given to me by the author, and this is my honest review.

Woman works at a high end dog spa and falls for the hygiene inspector. This was interesting until we never found out why this spa was mysteriously selected for an inspection and Rob was pressured into giving a poor review.

She was just a worrywart, thinking her poor GRE scores were because she started to have feelings for Rob. Ugh.

What a cute, fun and fast book. The only thing missing for me was more romance. It had a lot of laughter, so it was definitely a comedy and even though there were enough sparks between the main characters, it never really became fireworks. Hope to see more of that in the second book.
The characters and side-characters were really lovable and relatable.
Also, the whole mystery wasn't solved in the end? Bit weird if you ask me.
Definitely recommend this.

Slow Build to a Great Finish

The dialogue and narrative from Rob’s and Amelia’s perspective make for great character development. Most of what transpires fits with their characters. The family and friends are a bit two dimensional, but they help support the overall plot. I enjoyed the story and had trouble putting it down to sleep.

Dog Days and More

I loved all of Amelia's dog stories and adventures. She had persevered through so much and was still determined to reach her dreams. Enter Rob, the health inspector caught between his boss and Amelia's workplace. The story is sweet; Rob shows he is a true gentleman with integrity, and all works towards an adorable happy ending.

Fun, Lighthearted Read

Cute and fun lighthearted read! Bits of politically motivated difficulty that good character and a willingness to clearly communicate overcomes in the end. Nice to read character that are sweet and kind.
