3. Once a Spy
4 stars
I received a free copy of Once a Spy: Christian Romantic Suspense: Protector Sweethearts: Book 3 by Jan Thompson and this review was given freely.
A complex and at times twisted multinational story that is action-packed and blends faith and witnessing, the search for a map to Blackbeard’s hidden treasure, the CIA’s ongoing attempt to stop an arms dealer, and a rejected woman’s attempt at revenge.
Former CIA agent turned bodyguard, Raynelle thinks she has an easy new assignment protecting her old boss Beatrice’s secretive, reclusive, and at times abrasive older brother Benjamin Glynn until she learns he is not a recluse, her attempt to retrieve a missing map becomes entwined with her failed last CIA mission and Benjamin’s treatment of her changes.

There is a lot that goes on in this complicated mystery that I enjoyed. Ben & Ranelle have a history & it's not a happy one now. There is Leonard whom she doesn't trust. There are robotic attack dogs that can kill. Then there are all the other dark enemies. What about the map they are trying to find? There is a lot going on in this book. I can't wait for the next one in the series. I received a free copy from the author. This is my voluntary review.

Once a Spy kept me on the edge of my seat. This well written book is a very complex, faith filled, romantic suspense story. There is a large cast of characters, varied venues, moles, smoke screens, twists and misdirects. I loved trying to keep up. Our main characters Benjamin and Raynelle have a love/hate relationship that is very interesting. There are several impressive weapons in this story. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!

They Seem to Clash Quite Often

This is a full blown suspense mystery/romance. There was so much going on it seems somewhat cluttered with past incidents, plus current events. Too many incidents. Yet it was intriguing. Good job, Jan Thompson.

A good suspense novel that kept me reading to the end

Raynelle is assigned to protect Beatrice's older reclusive brother Benjamin. Sounds easy as Benjamin doesn't leave his house at all, but Benjamin isn't reclusive. A treasure hunter, he is searching to find BlackBeard's lost treasures.
Once A Spy is a clean novel involving a mole, suspense, and twists and turns. I enjoyed the hate/love relationship between the main characters.

This is a crazy suspense story with a nice romance. My favorite thing, though, is the way that Raynelle and others used God's Word to know how to handle different circumstances. Very well done!
