Beth wasn’t expecting to bump into Glen Hargreaves almost a year after kissing him under the mistletoe on Boxing Day. He said he’d come to her bakery the next day but didn’t show up. She’s spent almost a year trying to forget about him and the wonderful way he makes her feel when suddenly, round a corner, she walks straight into him. Glen wasn’t expecting to bump into Beth. It’s been almost a year since they kissed on his younger brother’s porch on Boxing Day and he hasn’t been able to get her out of his head. His life doesn’t have room for a serious relationship, he has a son who needs his full attention, and even Beth’s incredible gingerbread biscuits can’t change that. Can they?
This is a short novella and the second part of a series.
This is another quick read, so after reading the first of the trilogy, I went onto this one. Beth and Glen were minor characters in Merry Christmas Eve Eve, now this is their story.
Beth runs the local bakery/cafe and makes delicious cakes which she delivers to the local manor house for their events. Glen’s brother, Jeff, inherited the building after the death of their father. It’s here that Beth meets Glen. Immediately, she has strong feelings for him, but he is still suffering from the loss of his father.
This story has all the elements of a lovely Christmassy festive read. Romance, parties, gingerbread, Christmas cake, and of course the nutcracker of the title.
Overall, a great read to lose yourself in. I recommend it.
