Twelve Naughty Days of Christmas 2021 is this year’s collection of short stories that are all based around Christmastime! Some are steamy, some are sweet, they might even have a spanking or two, but all have a lot of love happening around the holidays!
A Kinkirk Holiday by Megan McCoy - Hailey is a wanderer looking for a place to land for the holiday season when she finds Rome, his bar, and his special family. As the holidays come to a close, will this Daddy convince his Little to stay a while and give them a chance? This was short and almost like a teaser for this family - there’s so many things I want to know more about, when it comes to Rome, the specialness or his family, and why Hailey felt the need to constantly travel. I loved their connection, though. Her hard work balanced with his, and they both loved helping others. I definitely felt like they were two sides of the same coin. Rome was protective and dominant and was all Daddy, so I liked that dynamic of their relationship, too. I’m definitely left wanting more from this world, but I enjoyed this story and the Christmas magic that was within!
Home for Christmas by Constance Masters - Lily and Jack’s marriage is on the rocks, but with the help of a meddling family, can this couple find a second chance at love during Christmas? This novella was sweet and emotional, and I liked that it took place now with flashbacks into good and bad times in their marriage. Lily hated confrontation, but also didn’t really know what she wanted. I liked how she matured over this family visit and realized that not everything had to be in her control, or that not everything revolves around her. I liked Jack and that he didn’t give up on their marriage. He poked at Lily, but all in love. And I think it was really big of him to go find help! Family, trust, and communication are all major themes in this short story. I liked how her family all played a role in bringing the magic of Christmas into the story and overall, I enjoyed reading this short story!
The Gift of Friendship by Mariella Starr - three couples and best friends all get the chance to spend Christmas together, but add in a missing orphaned boy, a gigantic Christmas party, a very pregnant woman, and lots of Christmas magic, will everyone make it through the Christmas season? This story was definitely sweet and I enjoyed reading all about Grady and Dixie, Max and Olga, and Trent and Gloria. For a group of close and best friends, they definitely got into a bit of shenanigans as the Christmas season continued. I liked that this was a bit of a historical book, and it was really cool to see some of the differences with modern vs older medical practices. The one thing that I struggled with was that this is a new to me author - all of the people were already coupled up, so this story wasn’t a new romance. I didn’t know if any of their backstories were in previous books or not. But I enjoyed reading about how strong their friendships were and how they all really came together to celebrate Christmas and bring magic to each other’s lives!
