“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.”

“All these are the beginning of sorrows.”

Another insightful addition to this addictive series, it feels so real, and really makes you think and ask yourself are you prepared for what could potentially happen ? This was action packed with Tsunamis, Wars, and threats against the US of Nuclear invasions from Russia (The Bear) and China (The Dragon). I learned some history while reading it and comparing it to prophecy makes it a bit unnerving, but truth will do that at times- and slap you in the face with reality.

I love the community building and as a homesteader, this makes it relatable to me. I love her simple yet spirit gripped writing. She throws in lots of prepping and survival tips throughout the story. I am really looking forward the “The Eagle” and seeing how it all unfolds!

Book two, and it was a good one. To see what happened in book one you can see my review of The Bear.

FYI, and I’m guessing most of you know this…The Bear symbolizes Russia, The Dragon symbolizes China and The Eagle symbolizes the United Stated.

In this story The Dragon isn’t highlighted anymore than Russia was in the last book, except that one Chinese military officer is imprisoned, and his life becomes a focus that may be important in the next (soon-to-be published) books.

"Intense" is my description for book two. War has begun. China and Russia have attacked with a vengeance and the U.S. is taken over. But a massive earthquake and tsunami, destroying many ports they were using, became an unexpected issue to thwart their advances.

As I mentioned in my review of book one, many Chinese and Russians have become a part of our country (with an agenda). They have now become boots on the ground in this sudden, lethal attack. Our citizens have little defense except the states that could buy or collect guns to protect themselves in the event that local or foreign forces invade.

In a Russian strategy meeting discussion… "We are facing strong resistance in certain locales – primarily states along the Rocky Mountain range, as well as states along the Gulf Coast.” He pointed to the state of Alabama. “Residents of these regions tend to be well-armed and a little… what shall we say? Hostile."

Meanwhile, in this little Alaskan community, the tsunami became quite an issue as well.

I don’t want to give much more away, suffice it to say, I’m looking forward to the next book!

An excerpt from the authors notes at the end…

"I am indebted to independent military analysts and geopolitical analysts who have long been sounding the alarm about Russia and China, and the Marxist/communist threat in general. Their research and opinions have shaped my own."

War, destruction, survival, faith.

This second book picks up right where the first left off. That is a good, because I didn’t want to miss a single moment. So many idioms came to mind reading this book. Survival of the fittest, keep your friends close and your enemies closer, and of course, tomorrow is another day. I shall have to continue on to see what tomorrow brings for this story. As a Christian and a patriotic American, this book series scares me to my core. I will continue on to the next book.

I'm convinced this author does not have a clue about what goes on inside the United States.

First and foremost, the President; Vice-President and Speaker of the House would NOT be in Washington DC, nor would they be together. There are bunkers for our people just like there are bunkers for the Russians. The Chinese claim they have bunkers but that whole to-fu dreg thing makes it unlikely.

She blathers on in chapter 24 about the fighting at the front gates of an air force base in Montana... the front gate... at an AIR FORCE BASE. You're aware of what we keep at Air Force Bases... right? Let me tell you something about American Military Doctrine; we fight from a perspective of Air Supremacy... not air superiority, air SUPREMACY and we have the equipment to accomplish such a task. Have you ever heard of an A10? It's a flying machine gun - literally; close air support they call it. We have over 200 of those. If you believe that a contingent of Chinese soldiers who were smuggled into America via shipping containers (lol!!) can storm the front gates of and Air Force base in Montana I'm not sure anything I tell you about the American military will make a difference.

She clearly hasn't done any research about air defense either. Just because Russia and/or China put propaganda out that they have super-duper super-sonic really fast missiles doesn't mean squat. Air defense systems don't chase an incoming projectile, they track it and get in its way, like a roadblock. You don't need to be supersonic to get in something's way. Actually, you don't even need to be moving to get in something's way (ie roadblock). Two individual nuclear warheads would not make it into the continental U.S. and retaliatory strikes would come from submarines immediately.

Speaking of the USN, we have 11 active aircraft carriers which are all nuclear powered floating cities. They can and do traverse all the oceans of the world. China has 3 aircraft carriers which are diesel powered and not "blue water" worthy (ie they stay near the China coast). Russia had two but Ukraine (WHO DOESN'T HAVE A NAVY) sunk one of them.

Russian military doctrine changes with whoever is in charge but is basically "throw men at it." In WW1 they had 2 rifles for every 3 men and yes, that's how they went out on the battlefield. Not much has changed.

And while China can put on a pretty fancy parade, they've never been battle tested and any skirmish they have been involved in proved they are incredibly disorganized and inexperienced. Additionally, their missiles have been found to have no fuel in them. I suppose they can threaten to press the launch button all they want.

If you're interested in learning just how incredible U.S. logistics can be, look into the Berlin Airlift and know that the U.S. Army can deploy a full service Burger King to any front line. I'll let you do your own research on the ice cream ships.

This is just FYI: 30,000 U.S. employees work at over 60 John Deere facilities across more than 16 states.

And holy cow are these characters useless. This terrible tragedy has taken place and they all gather around and wring their hands about "oh so many people have perished" when in reality, there would be people organizing the ATVS, dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, horses (etc) to search for survivors and get help to the people who need it. But no, "gosh, so many people are missing boohoo, so sad, it's so sad, how can we get over this sadness....boohoo, let me make you some blueberry muffins, it'll help with the sadness..." Sorry, that was mean, but this is ridiculous.

This book takes place over a twelve hour period, following the same four POV characters from book one: Mao Wu Ying in China (imprisoned), General Ivan in Russia (currently in the bunker), and Sierra Forrester and Austin Martin (on a remote island in Alaska).

The story starts with the mega tsunami, which severely impacts supplies for the war, although, it's interesting that the tsunami could have such a detrimental effect in twelve hours that it leads Russia and China to resort to a nuclear attack on New York.

When I think about the things that actually happened in this book, it's not really very much. Mao Wu Ying gets closer to his cell mate, and learns more about his faith, and Sierra and Austin escape the tsunami and hike to the other side of the island, where the threat from the FBI is gone. Russia and China consider their options, then decide to bomb the US.

The constantly shifting POVs gives the illusion of a fast-paced story, but I feel like the narrative does get bogged down in the minutiae. It would have been nice to feel closer to the actual action.

Tsunamis and Nukes and Bears, Oh My! The second book in Jamie Lee Grey's exhilarating new apocalyptic series, Mystery Babylon, was even better than the first one. In this book, Sierra and Austin run for high ground after a massive earthquake triggers a tsunami. Then, they have to find their way back to their hometown...if it hasn't been destroyed. In the meantime, China and Russia are debating whether or not to launch a nuclear strike against the already-crippled U.S. As if that wasn't enough...there's also a bear attack. This book is a nonstop thrill ride. I absolutely love the way the author weaves Scripture and elements of faith into her stories. Anxiously awaiting the next book!

Good Read

I have always enjoyed Jamie's books. Although I believe in the pre-rapture, I enjoy her faith in Christ reflected in all her books. The book started out a little slow but I assure you that quickly changes. I really liked the bear story and how Christ was displayed in the power of prayer to help rescue them. You won't be disappointed in this book!. I highly recommend it.

Bridging Into War

While this book was a bit slower than the first, it did cover the mishaps of the four characters from the first book. I would say it concentrated more on the conversion of the Chinese character and the whining of the young woman. Maybe they are opposites to be studied as we read to see what we should be grateful for. Maybe there is another lesson. Maybe I'm reading too much into a good book. We'll see how the rest holds out.

Too close for comfort

Bouncing between China, Russia and Alaska is very interesting because you can actually see it happening. Although fiction this story hits close to home. Sierra and Austin have their own adventure escaping from a God sent tsunami which wipes out the total Pacific coast. Great job. Thank you.

Earth Shaking

Natural and man made destructive forces shake the earth. Russia and Chinese forces over running much of the United States. Loved ones lost. Amidst all of this, the light of Christ shows up in some unusual places offering His inner peace.

This series is hard to put down.

Absolutely amazing series! I just finished this one and immediately downloaded the next in the series. You cannot read these out of order and they do not stand alone. Definitely part of a series and each one ends in a cliffhanger. I don’t like series but this one is absolutely fantastic and I plan to keep reading it to the conclusion.

Wow wow WOW!

First off this author is so easy to read! She breaks the different stories of the one story into "chunks". The detail is just right.... the suspense is wonderful. The best for me is the character development and actual story line. Simply mesmerizing. And for the Christian some exciting moments for sure. Ready for book 3.

Another excellent book in the series!

I could not put this book down. The pace of this book is about right. Sometimes takes multiple chapters to cover an event but that is okay. The structure of the chapters is reassuring! A thought provoking read. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

Very scary

It's amazing how the world views in this book is so feasible. While reading this book many situations actually happen. I won't say what they are because I don't want to spoil it for you if you decide to read this book. But I'm going to download book 3 now.

Interesting and could relate to events now.

Earthquakes, a super tsunami that takes out the west coast and even parts of South America. The Panama canal has damage also. Add the Chinese and Russia and you can tell the invasion has begun. Who will same the world.

Courageous

I love the bible passages and how each character is influencing another individual in the scriptures and to get closer to God. Our country would not be where it is today if more people proclaimed their faith and their conviction to practice it.

Book 2 and things are moving faster. War has started and now earthquakes and a mega tsunami. How will this affect the war? Can Russia and China still win? What is coming for the US? Is this God stepping in to help? Characters are developing. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Boom.

Wow, the hits just keep on coming. Sounds like book 3 is going to be really interesting. Sounds like the bear and the dragon are going to find out what it’s like fighting with a cornered animal.

The speculative scenario of this series intrigues me; however, the writing style of constantly shifting scene locations kind of annoys me. I am impressed by the character, Austin.
