Four women were on a wagon train heading to California. They shared their two wagons with four orphans who they hoped to place with new families out west. One of the women was dressed as a man in hopes of finding some needed security. Another is a young black woman who had been rescued from the repeated abuse of her plantation master. She heard that he was coming after her so she had to leave town in a hurry. Another of the women is a young nurse who had earlier written to a doctor in Garrison, a growing town in the Wyoming Territory, hoping to find a job. The last young woman is a doctor who worked tirelessly during the Civil War operating on countless soldiers trying to save their lives. Now she wants a chance to become a doctor in a small town and serve the community. But she is finding it difficult to become accepted as a woman doctor.
Their lives, along with those of the orphans, become very entwined during the trip. However, due to an illness, they were forced to separate from the rest of the wagon train. Suddenly on their own, they soon encountered a very gruff cowboy. Fortunately, realizing how vulnerable the group was in the wilderness, he agreed to travel with them for a while. They never make it to California. Instead, they decide to head for Garrison.
Will Garrison be the right choice for all four ladies? Will they find peace and acceptance in this new town? Will they find homes for the four orphans? It’s a chance they all felt they need to take.
Seth, Nell, Luther, Belle, Lucas, Josie, Jack and Megan
This is the third in this great series. It is filled with excitement, adventure and weddings galore. The mercantile gets robbed and Nell is injured and more. You will enjoy discovering how each of these couples find their happily ever after.
This is the third book I have read all three were basically the same. I would like to visit this "resale store" it has everything !!!! And cost next to nothing.
The town of Garrison grew quickly through these stories by this author. Young orphans and ladies all found loving homes waiting for them. She didn’t spare the small love scenes yet they were nice ones and lots of them as each character fell in love.
