Lorna: After the awful mess that was my life back on Earth, living in the raskarran village is great. It's a simple life, but the big green guys provide for us, our huts are cosy and I get to spend my days looking after two adorable children. There's only one problem - the dreamspace. Much as I might want to have a family one day, I can't have anyone inside my head. There are secrets I'm keeping, secrets that could destroy me and any chance of a future I have with the tribe. Fortunately, none of Gregar's tribe are my mate, and if I have an unrequited crush on the village healer, Shemza, well, it's not the worst issue to have. When he offers to help me regain my strength, I just have to remember he's not interested in me. That those looks he's giving me are definitely not full of heat...

Shemza: I have longed for Lorna since the first moment I set eyes on her. Even when she was weak with fever, I knew that my heartspace would never beat for another. We have not joined each other in the dreamspace, and that should mean that she is not my linasha. But she is human, not raskarran, and perhaps the same rules do not apply. Lorna's heartspace is closed right now, but if there is a way to get her to open it to me, I will find it. I may be a healer, but Lorna rouses a warrior's spirit in me, and I will do whatever it takes to claim her as my mate.

it was good

It was good but an editor would have noticed the GLARING issue. FMC discusses unsatisfactory smexy times with her husband back on Earth then later it doesn’t line up with her backstory she tells.

So we got some issues there that should have really been caught before being published but whatever the story itself was good. But it definitely lost a star

I liked this more than I thought it would going into it. Lorna is living a lie amongst her tribesmates and the Raskarrians. She never feels safe or at ease, except around Shemza, who longs to make her his Linasha. I felt bad for Lorna once we learned her secrets. She was as much a prisoner as a top tier citizen as anyone on a lower tier could be. I'm glad she finally had Shemza to help her realize her "crime" was understandable.

Here I am at book 4 and I feel like we’re getting *somewhere* but it’s still not pushing past a 3 star mark.

I’m enjoying the overarching story of the tribes coming together to protect the women and am curious to see how it comes into play in book 5.

Still frustrated with the language barrier though. Especially because the last 2 books our couples haven’t become “mates” until the last 2 or 3 chapters, so we barely get any time of them ACTUALLY bonding together without any struggles to communicate. These books would benefit so much at having maybe another 50-100 pages of story added to the end. Considering the next book always focuses on a new couple, give us more time with the CURRENT couple and the HEA. even if this author hates a detailed spicy scene, give us SOMETHING more. hell, give us an epilogue that takes place a month or 2 later when the couple can finally communicate while awake! Like please.

I’ve made my peace with the fact this series lacks heavily in spice. There isn’t anything to be desired from the scenes we get, the descriptions barely that and are so short in length you don’t miss out on reading anything good if you skip it entirely.

But then I noticed something while reading this book that left me extra frustrated. We don’t get that detailed of character descriptions of our alien heroes. I realized this in this book when we were informed that ALL of the men in the tribes have some shade of brown hair. I’ve been reading these books solely back to back and I do not recall one description of their hair color in any of the books. The most hair description we got was that their hair was coarse, and in book 2 Anghar’s hair is described as long with hair falling in front of his eyes (left me to believe he had bangs lol). But that’s IT. I figured it was dark hair, but really it took 4 books to get “different shades of brown” for all their hair colors?

Like I was really just imaging all of them with long black hair, either free or in braids, and now I’m just wondering if the hair length is even accurate, because we don’t get it! Shemza’s hair length isn’t even mentioned in this book either, just his hair color.

Plus, we’re never told WHY Lorna was switched? Like I understand we can only know as much as the character knows, but what was even the point of that? Lorna/Joanna assumes the real-Lorna’s family had her switched out or something, but why chose Lorna/Joanna? Like that just bugs me. Plus Liv has already admitted cheating her way into the Alpha Colony lottery in book 1, so really how locked down is Mercenia about this whole operation? This doesn’t feel like a tight, possibly sex-slave/trade-or-human-meat-market business as you would think a big greedy Corp like Mercenia would be.

I know this was just an entire review of just complaints/questions lmao I’m still going to read this series, see how it continues because, despite the lack of spice, I am interested in seeing how this plays out for each character.

Another quick story and this one explores a bit more about how the dreamspace mate bonds might be a little different for humans with them needing to believe and be open to it as well. Lorna hasn’t had much page time before this as she broke her arm in the crash landing and was on deaths door afterwards. Her character was a mystery and that helped make this one feel a little different than the other girls trying to figure out her backstory and why she was so scared of everyone figuring out her lies. Shemza is the tribe healer and one of the youngest survivors of their illness that killed all the women and many children and elders. He’s super patient in this story and understanding of these girls going through so many changes adapting to their new environment and reality. The story was sweet and entertaining like the rest, but also wraps up so quickly in the end that I wanted more. Gets 3 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the healer Shemza's book and Lorna (the human with the broken wrist who almost died).

We are told throughout the entire book that Lorna has secrets. She pushes Shemza away and tells him she is bad.

SPOIELR SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

When she was 16 her parents married her off to an old rich guy so he would give her parents money. She was top tier unlike all the other girls who were very poor and from the bottom tiers.

She stabbed him on their wedding night after she told him not to touch her. She was sent to prison.

Then somehow (the book never explains the details) she is told to switch identities with a bottom tier girl who won the colony lottery. So that girl takes her place in the prison and she is sent to the colony on a spaceship. But it crashlanded on the Raskarrans planet.

Did nobody notice in the prison that she was missing and a new girl was there? This seems like a big plot hole.

I enjoyed the book anyway.

shemza and Lorna are the best!

I really liked Shemza and Lorna! I didn’t think anyone could top Rachel and Vantos but Shemza… woooo he has got the moves!

Lorna’s story is tragic but Shemza is just so perfect for helping to heal her.

I did like that the author drew attention to the fact that - yes, Gregor and Anghar - met their mates long distance, and not close by like everyone has been assuming it would work. I thought this was gonna be a gap in the plot so I’m very happy it was addressed!!

The only thing I’m confused about is the mating node - like , do the alien guys actually… expel their pleasure during the act? It’s never stated (they just stay still?) but I guess that it’s assumed they do because their mates are human lol. That’s my only gripe… that this act is described vaguely enough to not really know.

Wow

A powerful story of a human woman that feels like she is beyond redemption and how she slowly comes to realize (with help of her mate) that it is about forgiveness and love.
The backstory of the new planet is starting to fill in a little. Enjoyed how we found out more of survival on the planet and community and communication between the two groups.
Looking forward to finding out more. Especially of the corp behind them getting to the planet. Think they were meant to be on this planet, but on different sector. Believe they or someone else set up the virus that killed many.
What I am surprised by is why they did not ship a lot more human women out.

I started the series with the first book and although they could all be stand-alones I found that by starting in the beginning it made me want to follow the whole story.

It was a fantasy with alien and high stakes and love but then equally it's about two people growing together and finding out about each other over time. It's not rushed or uninteresting and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to see a good fantasy romance could be.

The only reason I gave it four stars is because I was comparing this book to the others which are in the series and some of those appealed to me more then others, which is understandable as you follow the lives of 12 people towards overcoming boundaries, personal issues and grief.

I found Lorna's story quite grim and sad. This story felt heavier than the rest of the series.
I also didn't feel like I had connected with Shemza by the end of the story. He was so serene and unflappable and I felt like I couldn't get beneath the surface with him to know who he was and what motivated him. He just loved Lorna and seemed unfazed by everything. He almost became secondary to Lorna. Like he was her (and everybody else's) objective shrink. It felt like her story, not his.
It was light on sexy times too.

This is a broken woman and sweet caring man who helps her realize herself trope. I'm not sure I care too much for that trope in general but he with a language barrier and against the special norms of his alien species has full on intercourse w her. Which just felt very wrong in light of all the circumstances including language barrier, possibility of one or both of them being forcibly paired w another individual. The Aehako book from ice planet barbarians version of this series except not done as well imo.

I read all of these prior to reviewing. Series thoughts: really, really good. Strong individually but makes a really nice, cohesive whole.

Book specific: Another one where they aren't initially mates, but Lorna and Shemza are so cute and sweet that it made up for that. Lorna's backstory is interesting and not one of those 'secrets' a heroine is keeping that is very obviously not a problem - I could completely see where she was coming from. You just wanna squeeze them both and pinch their cheeks.

Lorna's story was so, so good. Each entry in this series has been unique and riveting. The dystopian Earth the girls come from provides an interesting back story that differentiates each book, and sets this series apart from other alien romance.

I was surprised that it was Shemza and Lorna rather than Shemza and Grace, but the pairing was really sweet. The build up of the relationship was satisfying and different than other couples, and the mating process being different for various couples was a nice change. 10/10, no notes.

Sweet and endearing

This series is sweet and heartfelt. All these women have faced something traumatic with the time they were on Earth...coming to this alien planet and finding this tribe helps them all heal and grow. The Raskarrans are part of this process. Can not wait for the next one.

Cosmic Balancing

Seduced, Shemza and Lorna’s love story is fabulously good! Lorna is a top tier girl with lots of secrets. Shemza is the Raskarren doctor who treats her after the crash landing where she is injured. Their romance is sweet, tender, exciting…..
Love the line “to grow in strength involves struggle”.
Truer words were never written.
Excellent book!

Can't get enough of these Raskarrans 💓💞

This series gets better and better with each book. Lorna has been through one crazy situation after the other since landing on that planet, not to mention her past is all kind of messed up. It's no wonder she felt like she was still a prisoner - Here comes Shemza, sweet, polite and lot of patience. They made a great pair. Great job 👏

I love medics ! I was really looking forward to Shemza (H) but I found him to be a little bland, I also didn’t like that Lorna (h) was very freely giving into her attraction but then cut him off suddenly and he had no idea what was going on.

Also the whole situation with Molly was really weird.
Overall not my favorite pairing. And since it was angsty it wasn’t really my cup of tea.

Seduced

I am loving this author and this series the mates for raskarrans. Another couple is paired together. I can't wait to continue to read more about the human females who crashed upon a rainforest planet and find their fated mates, huge greenish colored alien males whose women died years ago during a plague. These women bring new life to this planet.

While I was curious about the easy-going healer and Lorna, their story was boring and much of this book was unnecessary. It didn’t drive the overarching story forward, instead it was a recounting of what’s already happened, but from the healer and Lorna’s perspective. Truly a waste of a book in a pretty decent series so far.

not as good as the others, but a tear jerker

I cried a few times reading this, don’t know if I’m just hormonal or if it was the story. There were some editing things missed in this one, some bit logic things too. In the beginning of the book it talks of her relationship with her husband, but then the reveal doesn’t make sense for what was said earlier.

Exceptionally good

Lorna had a ton of baggage that kept her from being the person she most wanted to be. Shemza was the perfect person to help her! Hard to read at times but so worth it!

Cured by the Alien

A shipload of human women crash on a planet with lots of vicious wildlife and sentient hunter gatherers. These Raskarrans are an honourable tribe and save the women. Their females were overcome by a plague and romances ensue.

This series has some amazing love to share!

Shemza and Lorna such a loving story! Shemza saved life when the tribe first found the 12 women on the beach. There has always been a pull between them and now is the time for theIr story!

I feel like the writing was noticeably better on this one, the prose and the depth of story. I thought I would just binge this one in anticipation of the next ones. This is kind of the last pairing that you could figure from the start of the series. I am very eager to see who ends up with who.

My favourite of the series so far. The FMC in this book has had a terrible life and carries massive guilt and stress. The MMC is so sweet and accepting and lovely, I just love this sort of pairing. The worldbuilding and overarching plot of these books is great.

Brilliant world building, good writing, good amount of spice that doesn’t overwhelm the story or the plot, likable characters — this book line is a gem! I hope the writer continues writing and publishing her stories.

I love to read about the worlds the authors create. This one was interesting and so were the customs of the tribe. I think you will enjoy this one.

What a journey

I like how these stories are more about the journey of being with your soul mate, or linasha, than about the action.
