Shining Victory by K.C. Kendricks has been collecting dust in my e-files. I have no excuse for putting off certain books, while immediately reading others. I think I delayed reading this one because it’s written in first person. Since first person is my least favorite point of view to read, I have a tendency to put off reading books written with this viewpoint.

When I found out there is a sequel to this book, I decided to go ahead and bump it up and give it a try. I should have known I would enjoy this book, because I have enjoyed other books written by KC Kendricks in the past.

The moment Stacy James met Levi Wright, he knew there was going to be trouble. As he watched the younger and very handsome man glide across the hood of the 1967 Camero, only to land gracefully on his feet and then confront some gay bashing bully, Stacy knew he needed to walk away. Instead, he found himself right in the middle of the argument, and knocking the bully out with one punch.

Unfortunately, it was in the middle of a car show. With spectators. Oops!

Stacy decides to high tail it out of there before the cops are called. As he is leaving, the young man is following close behind and before Stacy knew what hit him, he is giving him a ride despite his reservations. As Stacy and Levi start talking they discover they have a love in cars in common as well as other things. Thinking that Levi would never be attracted to the much older Stacy, he is pleasantly surprised with Levi makes an effort to be around him, and then makes a pass at him.

Stacy at forty, doesn’t know what he is doing with the hot-headed, sexy Levi who is about to turn 25. Being burned by a younger man in the past, the age difference bothers Stacy, but what he doesn’t know about Levi is, once he sets his mind on something he gets it. Stacy doesn’t have a chance.

I really liked this book. Levi’s youthful determination to get his man, made this story a very fast paced read for me. The easy going banter and humor both Stacy and Levi shared together gave me some laugh out loud moments as well. Plus, the sex is pretty hot. Whew!

This does not mean that Stacy and Levi don’t have their problems. Miscommunication, past problems, old worries and the age difference between them could keep them apart.

Good thing Levi doesn’t take no for an answer.

I really loved the chemistry Stacy and Levi have together. There are some unanswered questions, and although there was a more HFN ending, (it’s still good though) I am hoping everything will be resolved in its sequel No One But You.

This one has been on my TBR shelf forever, and I honestly can't say why I haven't read it sooner. Maybe it's because the cover didn't grab me, or because I won it at a group chat without really knowing what it was about. Regardless of why, I'm glad I finally did read it.

This May-December romance was gentle and tender. Add in bits of cocky youth mixed with jaded experience, for a sweet, simple romance that I couldn't put down.

3.5 stars in my opinion. A shorter yet well written story about Stacy and Levi's budding relationship, two multi-dimensional characters that quickly became dear to my heart. There was so much potential in the book and I would have been very glad to see it further explored and expanded into a lengthier novel.

I enjoyed this book on so many levels. First of all, I love books with a significant age difference between characters. It's something I can relate to, and it always makes an interesting plot point. Secondly, the chemistry between Stacy and Levi is amazing. Both of them are very human, lovable, and they made a delightful couple. I definitely recommend this book!

Part of the Victory series but the only other book that actually goes with this one is "No One But You" - the others are complete stand alone's and make no reference to these 2 books.

However, they are all entertaining. The MC's in this book are sexy and fun. The story was entertaining and the sex was hot!
