Mylah’s world is turned upside down when a stolen book from another kingdom is brought to her family’s home for her father to translate. In an attempt to retrieve the book, a half-fae half-human being called a shreeve murders Mylah’s parents.

Four years later, Mylah is chosen by her king to infiltrate the Elowyn kingdom. Mylah hopes that while she is there, she will be able to find the man who murdered her parents and exact her revenge. But, as she soon finds out, there is much more to Elowyn's past and her than she realized.

Amazing! I absolutely loved this. It was unpredictable for me which I loved because I can usually guess what's about to happen. I cried for the characters and felt so connected to them. This became one of my favorites very quickly. I had to put it down several times, do a little squeal (if you know, you know!) and then pick it back up. 10/10

I read this last month and I honestly couldn't put it down! This YA fantasy is clearly written by someone who truly loves the genre, and gosh does it show!

Mylah has been preparing her whole life to take revenge on the Shreeve's (half-fae, half-human) responsible for her parent's death. However, when the time comes she starts to question whether she knows the full truth and if she has been lead to believe a lie to best suit the kingdom.

Unbound does not shy from the trauma of losing one's parents, the guilt that can hold us back, and growing into someone who can think for themself!

Prepare to question everything in this fantastic fantasy (sequel soon to follow).

This YA book was an awesome adventure! I loved getting to meet Mylah. She is a strong MFC that also lets her raw emotions come through. This book was heavy on character building, but it kept you guessing their true motives. I loved the mystery and suspense. I can't wait to learn more about the kingdoms and the unbound! I think this book is an excellent collection to the YA fantasy realm. Even from an adult read perspective, this was an amazing read! I have high hopes for Holly Huntress and the next book in the series!

Ummmmm. Holy shit this was great.

I absolutely loved it. The only reason it’s not a five-star is because some of the dialogue and actions between characters wasn’t quite consistent and sent small mixed signals. BUT it’s definitely not distracting.

Obsessed with the characters and the storyline.
It’s so good. A lot happens in this book and it just keeps getting better.

Whenever I put the book down, the story was the only thing I could think about. Honestly so good.

Absolutely loved this book! It kept me guessing the whole time. I was a little wary at the beginning with the FMC being so young but you really did need that back story. Not too heavy on the world building, which was really nice, but the world was formed for me without any information overload. After I hit the half way mark, I could barely put it down. Now I’m so invested in the characters. Can’t wait for book 2!

I was super excited to read this and that feeling carried on through the book.
Milah is given a mission by the king to infiltrate a neighbouring kingdom to learn about their weaknesses. But Milah has her own mission to find her parents’ killer. Once there, she learns not all is as it seems.

What I liked…
Not particularly important, but I loved how the title and cover made sense from the beginning.
I also love the time jump from Milah losing her parents to when she goes on her mission. It gives her time for the shock to wear off and lean to live with the grief but still have it meaningful in the present because of the way they died.
I loved not knowing who to trust. Don’t worry, not spoilers on specifics, but the whole book had me wondering who was genuine and who had an agenda and who was out to get Milah for their own reasons.
Romance was fun to read. Definitely YA romance, but on the upper end.
I love the word building with the book, the magical creatures and the magical powers.

What I didn’t like…
I thought Milah was too forgiving to a couple of people she should have been angry at. Sure, she can forgive them eventually, but it was a little too quick for my liking.

Final thoughts…
If you like fantasy espionage, revenge, romance, found family, and badass female MCs, then you should try this book.

TW: Grief, murder of a loved one, abuse

Mylah is a strong FMC and you really feel like you are right there alongside her as she comes into her own person. She loses her parents at a young age in such a tragic way and spends years just planning revenge. In the kingdom she grew up in, deceit is very much their strong suit. She undergoes training to basically take on this whole new identity to infiltrate the very kingdom she wants revenge on. There is a lot of tragedy related events in this book and I may have sobbed a few times.

There were quite a few instances in this book where I was shocked at the level of self-control Mylah had. I was angry and upset for her and she was just so calm, collected, and logical.

Rated PG-13

3.5 stars. This book started slow and took me a bit to get into. I liked the story, but I felt like it needed a little more editing to tighten it up. I still don't understand why the guards brought her to the king? The base story was intriguing and easy to follow along with, but I still had several questions, or there were spots that felt like they were either forced or didn't match the characters.
I will read the next one to see where it goes, but I'm not enthralled chomping at the bit.
*This book is rated PG-13. There is mild cussing but no F word. There is bloody violence, but not a lot and not explicitly detailed. There are a couple mildly passionate kisses.

This book was stunning. The world-building was so vivid, and I immediately fell in love with the characters. The number of times I gasped while reading this....I've been annoying my roommates all day because I keep making so much noise. It is so exciting that I read the entire thing in one go. Sorry to all my professors today, I didn't hear a word of the lectures. I was immersed in Mylah's journey through grief, anger, love, betrayal, and more. Not to mention this book made me laugh out loud multiple times. Absolute slay. I'm buying this book as a gift for all my sisters.

Holly has a way of laying out everything for you and still giving you plenty of hidden aspects to keep diving in for them. The characters are fantastic, the story line pulls you in and keeps you wanting for more, and the twists and turns in the emotional states are enough that I wanted to keep reading long after the last page.

I found Holly on TicTok and knew immediately that I wanted to read her books. Mylah is a kick ass main character. I'm usually not a huge YA fan, I like a little more spice in my books but I went through this book like it was candy. Finished it within one day. I can't get enough. The characters are all absolutely wonderful and super relatable. I love this story.

Purchased this book on Etsy and it was signed by the author, Holly Huntress. This book was well written and gave a lot of information for the characters and follows the life of Mylah. She suffers a great loss and vows on revenge until she is face to face and gets to know the killer of her parents. The ending to the book leaves you wanting more and can’t wait to finish the series.

Absolutely fantastic. Gripping storyline had me finishing this book in 7 hours!!! One single day of reading from start to finish. Love, betrayal, found family, loss, etc. I'm so happy book 2 is on its way because I NEED to know what happens next. I'll likely be purchasing book 3 ASAP and then waiting to continue till I have both in my hands.
