Dan is a natural leader and dominating force. He is the man this group spins around. His losses connect him to the group deeper than anyone else. He grieves from a loss he shares with his lover Len from their time in the Army. He also shares a loss with his best friends Colt and Josh. Together these four roommates are learning to navigate through their grief and survivors guilt.
Jenn, Josh’s mom, has her own grieving to do too. She grieves for two decades of her life lost to an abusive marriage. She grieves for the future she could have had. She mourns the loss of a woman she never got to become. And she desires a future where she is free to spread her wings and fly. The only hiccup is her fantasy of the perfect future has her son’s three roommates in staring roles. A fantasy the thirty-six year old mother never see’s coming to fruition.
Little does she know the last four years, since the day she walked into their lives, Dan, Colt, and now Len have been creating a safe and secure future specifically for her. Together they have learned how to safely remove a woman from a domestic violence situation. And have helped countless other families find a freedom they hope Jenn is ready to embrace before it’s too late. They know her husbands spiraling and one day he will go too far.
At twenty-three years old, these men are financially stable and have created a flexible life where they can go on the run to protect the people they love. And they take care to ensure that no matter what, Jenn’s given the choice to choose a future away from her abusive husband. Even against her own son who feels obligated to protect her.
For those who are fans of a true polyamorous romance then this will be up your alley. There are both big and hetero characters and you get to see a little of each. My only complaint is the story is told from multiple perspectives and thi didn't really work for me instead of seeing a real insight into the different characters instead it felt like they were interchangeable and I couldn't really tell there personalities apart. I also felt that we could have seen more about the challenges of coming together as four people in a relationship. There are challenges within every couple and yet with four it all magically worked sunshine and roses. The only challenges faced are external and even they are all very easily resolved. However overall it was a pleasant read, the pace was fairly fast and kept me engaged and there are bo cliffhangers. *SPOILERS BELOW* . . . . .
. . . . . . you kill an unarmed man yet no charges are laid? You've never worked or studied but can land your dream job in a pretty sought after role? Your a straight man but don't struggle at all joining two other men in group sex for the first time? Your friend just happens to be staying in the room next to you at a hotel when you need him most?

A new author for me but I got on very well with her style funding it easy to read. The story had my attention from the first page and the characters intrigued me from the start. The novel is definitely adults and the sex really hot and spicy. It also deal's with domestic abuse but not in too much graphic detail. A great story that has been well thought out and held my attention until the last page. I was so engaged with this book that I read it in a day so not too long with unneeded pages of descriptive text. I will certainly look out for more books by this author as I enjoy her style of writing. This book was sent to me by voracious readers only for an honest review. I always give an honest review.
This was my first time reading this genre and I honestly did not know what to expect. I loved how the author took the time to develop each character and weave them into the story without it feeling rushed as it built up to the steamy parts. It will be interesting to see how the characters continue to unfold as the storyline continues. There were times where I felt that certain scenarios were a little far fetched and character responses seemed almost forced, but then I reminded myself that it was a work of fiction and allowed myself to simply enjoy it. If you are new to the reverse harem genre, I highly recommend this as a starting point. It didn't disappoint. Complete transparency, I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers.
I am not usually a fan of age gaps with the older woman younger men. But oh my god this book hit all the right spots!!! I love the story and the whole journey for Jenn, Len, Dan, and Colt. I love their love story from the beginning and I cannot wait to find out more about Josh, Mac, and Alex! I loved this book not only for the super sexy scenes, (which were extremely hot by the way!), but also for the amazing story that CJ takes you on. This book is an amazing story and brought me close to tears so many times!!! I loved this book and hope for many more in this series!!! Amazing!!!!!!!!
4.5☆ I received a free copy in return for an honest review
This was a short read but didn't feel like it was unfinished. I liked the ending and it didn't feel too much like insta-love because the author had woven through that they had a past together.
It was also really nice to see a bisexual male character that had a male partner and wasn't just labelled as bi because other men were sleeping with the same woman together
Some heavy topics are covered as it is centered around a woman escaping from her abusive husband. I'm not usually fan of romances that feature an older woman and younger men but in this instance I didn't mind at all and I actually quite enjoyed the element
I thought this was a realistic portrayal of a woman who has lived with her abusive husband for way too many years. Realistic enough to trigger me, so definitely be warned.
But it's also a very sweet dream of where such a woman might want to land when she finally flees for freedom. The guys were all very protective and amazing. Even with three guys, they all felt different. Len might be my favorite but I love the sweethearts.
This was the 1st book I read by this author and I'm glad i did. I just couldn't stop reading. I love the bond between Jenn and her son Josh, and the bond they have with Dan, Colt, and Len. Sometimes it's best to walk away and start over with people you trust and love, then stay where you are not happy. Jenn made the right choice in leaving and following her heart. Can't wait to see what happens next.. I'm hoping for more of their story and more of Max and Alex
If you want a spicy read with some sugary parts this is the book for you. Plenty of hot moments to break away from the seriousness of the topic of spousal abuse. Some great messages about how one should be cared for, even in unconventional ways. The story of love and adoration between the main characters was not dirty in this spicy story.
This book was great and filled with genuine emotion! Also 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5. I did not see the ending coming and kind of wished it was different or that the ending played out a little more, but that did not detract from the overall readability or enjoyment of this book! Give it a try!
It was a wonderful and heart-wrenching journey of growth for Jenn. Cassandra painted such a vivid picture throughout and held your attention to the nail-biting end!
I enjoyed this reverse age gap story about a mature woman finding happiness after a lifetime of being miserable with the wrong man. It was so sweet how the guys had planned for the day she would finally leave her abusive husband. Jennifer was a lucky lady and deserved her HEA after all she'd put up with over the years.
I just LOVE Cassandra Joy and her neighborhood. In the first book we are introduced to Jennifer, her son Josh, and the 3 gorgeous men, Dan, Len, and Colt, who are determined to help as many abused women and children as they can. After 20 years of sexual, physical and verbal abuse, with the encouragement from Josh and his 3 sexy roommates, Jennifer makes her escape. From the first day all three men laid eyes on Jenn they all knew she was the one meant to be theirs. While hiding out from her husband "Dick", Dan, Len and Colt show Jennifer just how much they want her to belong to them. Though on the outside Josh acts offended by the secure tension between his 3 " big brothers" he knows they will protect his mom and keep her very happy. A twisted surprise brings book one to a devastating but happy ending. You will love this book if you adore tales of survival with suspense and lots of sexy time, then you will want to read Dawn Of A New Day.
Somehow I managed to get through this whole thing.
I don’t really have anything good to say about this unfortunately. I cringed throughout the whole thing.
The characters were all the same, the smut was bad, the pacing was really weird, their relationship was weird (nothing against RHs, it was just this specific book), the plot was nothing special but also somehow done badly, and just… I didn’t enjoy anything really:(
The characters were just really shallow and one dimensional and if I’m being honest I couldn’t tell the guys apart until over halfway through the book. They were all the same and Jennifer just didn’t feel like a 37 (?) year old mum at all, she was written like she was bloody 19. It was weird to read.
I expected smut but once I realised how little I was enjoying this book I realised the smut wasn’t going to be great. I didn’t expect there to be barely any smut. But yes I was right, it was bad.
The fact that Jennifer’s son was so involved in like the story and their relationship weirded me out and I really struggled to get passed it. Like they were all so open about it and … yeah nah not for me.
There’s more things but I really don’t want to be brutal. Overall I did not enjoy this book at all:/
This book is sizzling. It does need a trigger warning though for abuse. Not by the main characters but it does influence the story. I very much enjoyed reading this and will try some more books by this author
