Group Therapy

Rate this book
From the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of 44 Chapters About 4 Men (inspiration for the 4th Most-Watched Netflix Original Series of all time, Sex/Life) comes a fun, forbidden romantic comedy about an inexperienced psychologist and her ultra-famous client.

I am thiiiiis close to finally becoming a full-fledged psychologist. PhD? Check. Prestigious postdoc position, providing therapy to entitled millionaires and C-list celebrities whose pumpkin spice lattes cost more than my Converse and make excellent projectiles during their reality TV–worthy tantrums? Check. Letter of recommendation from my velociraptor-like supervisor?

That’s going to take a miracle. Not only because my boss said I have to cure our most-prized client’s writer’s block in time for him to meet his insane deadline, but also because that client just so happens to be …

Thomas F*@%ing O’Reardon.

Yeah, that Thomas O’Reardon. The wickedly brilliant, achingly beautiful, devastatingly British best-selling author whose psychological thrillers line my bookshelf at home and whose face I might or might not picture while I … you get the point. Sitting in a confined space with him; inhaling the crisp, clean scent of his cologne; gazing into his broody blue eyes while trying to remember to nod and listen and come up with suggestions that don’t involve taking our clothes off … it’s torture.

So, when Thomas casually asks me out at the end of a therapy session, I’m forced to make an impossible choice: say yes and risk losing my dream job, or say no and risk losing my dream guy. In a panic, I blurt out a third option—the only solution I can think of that will allow me to see this man after hours without it being considered a career-ending ethics violation:

Group therapy.

The only problem? I’ve never actually done group therapy. And side problem: my other clients are heathens. But what’s the worst that could happen? I mean, it’s not like I’m going to lose all control of the group and let it devolve into a chaotic, bloodthirsty, topless fight club.

Right?

BB Easton is the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN, the hilarious, steamy, tell-all memoir that inspired the Netflix Original Series, SEX/LIFE. Within the first month, SEX/LIFE was viewed by 67 million households worldwide, making it the 3rd Most-Watched Netflix Original Series of all time.

BB was a stressed-out school psychologist and mother of two when the inspiration to write 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN struck. Through that process, she rediscovered her passion for writing, became dangerously sleep-deprived, and finally mustered enough courage to quit her job and become a full-time author.

BB went on to publish four more wickedly funny, shockingly steamy, and heartwarmingly autobiographical books in the 44 CHAPTERS series: SKIN, SPEED, STAR, and SUIT. Since then, she's been hard at work writing fictional stories that appeal to her love for us-against-the-world romance, including a dystopian trilogy (PRAYING FOR RAIN), a psychologist-client romantic comedy (GROUP THERAPY), and a dark mafia romance (DEVIL OF DUBLIN).

Group Therapy by B.B. Easton is a fun, sexy, stand alone romcom. This is my first book by this author. The blurb is what drew me in and what a crazy ride this book turned out to be.

Dr. Luna (Lou) Sterling is twenty eight years old, has her PhD, and is so close to obtaining her license to practice psychology. All she needs is to get her boss to write her a required letter of recommendation. Lou has such a both sad and crazy background. When she was seventeen years old, her mother and step father joined an artists’ commune and Lou was forced to spend several months of her last year in high school living in a psychedelic motor home amongst a bunch of hippies. Lou herself has artistic talent but having a real job where she can help people is all she wants. So when her boss tells her that her letter of recommendation hinges on Lou helping a certain author overcome his writer’s block within six weeks, she accepts the challenge. But then she finds out just who the author is.

Thomas O’Reardon is a wildly successful author of psychological thrillers. He lives in London but his editor has sent him to the U.S. to the practice where Lou works to get help overcoming his writer’s block. Thomas fears this is it. He’s out of ideas. If he can’t write the book he’s under contract to write in six weeks, he’ll have to return the million dollar advance he accepted. When he walked into the office for the first time, he expected an aging doctor but instead he was shocked at the beautiful woman standing before him. Thomas doesn’t believe in love. He enjoys an active life with an array of beautiful women. But when his hand touched Lou’s, he felt something he’s never felt before and he has no idea what to do about that.

On Lou’s bookshelf at home sits every single book written by Thomas. To say she’s a fan would be an understatement. But she’s also been secretly in love with the man since she read his first book. She keeps one of his books with his photograph facing outwards so she can use his beautiful face as her muse during “certain” activities. When he walks into her office, she is overwhelmed to say the least. Lou really is brilliant, though. This case can either help her achieve her dream or end the possibility of it. But her ideas aren’t helping yet. When Thomas actually asks her out on a date, of course she says no. But inside she’s yearning for more time with him. So a new idea forms in her head. Group Therapy!

Now let me warn you, Lou has a crazy bunch of friends, and she enlists the help of all of them in this group therapy. The only one who doesn’t seem to be benefiting from it is the most important one of all, Thomas. But they are still getting to spend more time together and her resolve is weakening by the minute. And just when you think things couldn’t get any crazier, well, they do.

This really was a wild ride. I loved Thomas and Lou. Both of them did have some issues that were obviously holding them back. And I loved Lou’s moxy. This woman just jumped in with both feet. And dare I say there was a little twisty turny thing there! An “Oh my gosh,” may have been uttered a time or two! This definitely was a fun book with an adorable ending. I really enjoyed it and look forward to checking out her other work.

The cover is pretty much indicative of all the things to come inside. Clothes are strewn, writing pad gets discarded and somewhere in between a knife makes an appearance (!!) in this laugh-out-loud, forbidden romantic comedy that keeps you holding a hand to your mouth to curb the loud guffaws that are constantly burst out while reading this book.

description

I was HOOKED from the start, and I devoured it at an alarming rate. The sizzling chemistry between Thomas O'Reardon, the writer with a block and his sexy therapist, Dr. Luna Sterling "Lou" kept the heat index to the maximum. She crushes on him and his writing HARD!! Has his entire collection lined up on her shelf, his picture facing her bed where he keeps company while she Diddles her Skittle!!
If you know what I mean *wink**wink*

"Not that I read them. Not that I buy them and take them home and kiss his picture and scribble out his date’s face and then glue a picture of myself over her picture and cut the whole thing out and tape it to my bathroom mirror. "

description

The nature of their relationship becomes the major hurdle between them, since both have the case of severe palpitating attraction and wanna spend time together beyond the office.
So the "expert" group of friends come to rescue and offer a venue and time for Group Therapy loophole.

"group therapy is defined as, One or more practitioners engaging in psychotherapy with multiple clients at the same time.”

But what they didn't account for is the total fangirling over the client, a local dive bar fight, the falling shelves, pickle fights, water pistol shoots & Primal screaming for......catharsis!!
Phew!!
Nothing. And I mean NOTHING is off the table in this hilariously unconventional Rom-com where a googly eyed therapist intern is assigned her crush idol author. That's perfect timing for either a romance of epic proportions or a disaster behemoth.

description

“Fix him, and then you can fuck him.”

And guess which route does BB lead them on.
Straddling them on the thinnest line between lust nd love, BB makes them go through crazy adventures adding to the hilarity tenfold.
I cackled, I swooned and I just couldn't believe the audacity Lou had to go to keep FROM pawing Thomas or TO paw Thomas. Their attraction set the pages & Fan-my-face on fire.
The side characters of her parents in a Leif-cult had me rolling on the clutching my sides.
Go on, enjoy and laugh like a truck driver, just not in public...ppl will think you've lost your marbles.!!

"LET HER GO OR YOUR BRAIN GETS A BATH!"

Oh my therapist. Did I just read my favorite rom com of 2022? Because... I THINK I DID! I have been dying for more from BB Easton ever since I fell in love with 44 Chapters About 4 Men. That book had me rolling on the floor in tears of laughter, and Group Therapy was no different!

This book is hilarious, heart-warming, and impossible to put down. A delightful surprise from one of my favorite authors and an absolute must-read. Group Therapy is a smash hit!

Easton weaves a laugh-out-loud tale between Dr. Luna Sterling (Lou) and her new, unexpected client -- the infamous, sexy author of psychological thriller bestsellers -- Thomas O'FUCKING Reardon. In her desperation to get close to him (without getting CLOSE to him, because hello, he's her client!), she plots a hilarious group therapy scheme with her other therapist friends. Little does she know that she's about to change their lives and the lives of all her patients, too.

Maybe it's because I'm a writer, but I was invested in Thomas's story from the beginning. And Lou is so hilarious, you can't help but root for her -- even in all the insanity!

Situational humor at its best and a swoony romance at the heart of it all, Group Therapy truly had the whole package. And when you hit that first steamy scene... lemme tell you...

I will never look at a dining table the same again. LOL.

A brilliant romantic comedy from a brilliant writer. I can't say enough. Put this on your list and bump it to the top!

This was too much for me like the author tried too hard to make it funny 🤷🏻‍♀️. I wish it focused more on the romance and less on the comedy.

Overall Opinion: Being a psychology major myself, I connected to this in ways I wasn’t really expecting. It had some laugh out loud moments, but there were many times where I felt like the humor was too forced. The myriad of crazy characters was a little overwhelming and I felt like they took over the book. It wasn’t focused on their development of feelings (past lust) and then all of a sudden they were throwing out love feelings and I was confused as to where it all came from. I felt as though the author threw in some sexy times and called it a day to classify it as romance. It just wasn’t enough for me, sadly. I’m sure others will like this, but I’m pretty disappointed tbh.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Lou and Thomas’ story. Lou is about to get her license to be a psychologist and is given a case by her mentor that she cannot mess up. She is shocked when she finds that the case is actually her celebrity author crush with a bad case of writer’s block. When he asks her out after a session, she makes up group therapy to get to see each other in the only way she can without crossing ethical lines. There are some crazy side characters, some lines crossed, and some sexy times…and they get a HFN ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between (mostly) Lou and Thomas’ POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Alright. It did feel slow at times and then the end was sped up too much. I never skimmed though.

Instalove: Kind of because it felt undeveloped.

H (Hero) rating: 3 stars. Thomas. I don’t feel like I really got to know him all that well.

h (heroine) rating: 3.5 stars. Lou. I liked her a little more than the H. I appreciated how she tried not to go full fangirl over him.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Alright. They have some tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not very many scenes and not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: No

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Not really, because I don’t really consider them “together” to be separated

Possible Triggers: Mild

Closure: This ends in an alright place but there was a lot of unanswered questions and not nearly enough closure for me. I’d call this a HFN ending

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

Group Therapy took me by surprise. I do not have high expectation for this book. This is my first read by Miss Easton.
While listening to the audiobook, the plot, the story got very interesting. The idea of Lou setting up group therapy so Thomas (her favorite's author) can overcome his writer block.

I really do not want to reveal that much of what happened in the group therapy session. What I want more from this book is the romantic connection between Lou and Thomas. Not insta love/ insta lust. But really more showing how they develop their connection and feeling through out the story.

Overall, a very enjoyable read.

[I took some time to sleep on this in case I was able to adjust the rating otherwise, but nope. It's a 1/5 for me.] Spoilers are hidden.

There are many things that just rubbed me the wrong way about this book. I really wanted to like it, I really did. I kept reminding myself that this is a romcom and so, it's supposed to be funny and lighthearted. And because of that, I kept going, hoping that it would get better. Overall, here's just some of the things that I didn't vibe with:

Spoilers below.

TLDR; Great concept, questionable execution.

It's been too long since I had a book that just made me feel.. good. I was laughing through the whole book and I blew through this in one sitting. I just couldn't put it down and I didn't want to. BB said that she initially wrote this book as a screenplay, and it is the FIRST book I have read that played out as a movie in my head. I usually insert myself into each book, but I read this book like a movie and it was magical for me.
Lou is finishing up her psychology degree and needs this job to get her final recommendation. When her boss asks her to take on a client she wasn't intended for, AND NOT SCREW THIS UP, she is ready for anything. Until she sees her favorite, and yes HOT, author Thomas O'Reardon. Not only does she read all his books, she has them all, on her bookshelf, in her office. When he comes in for his session, sparks fly immediately, but she doesn't want to be a total fangirl and her job depends on this.
Thomas doesn't believe this "creative psychologist" can get him over his writers block, but the next six weeks might be bearable if he can just have some fun while he's in town. As soon as Lou suggests Group Therapy, he is leery, but willing to hear her out.
After the first session, it is clear that being in the room with all these crazy (they are, we can't lie here to be PC) people might just be what he needs, especially if he gets to spend time with Lou.
The story is outlandish and the ending had me laughing out loud at the insanity, but it was so fun. When I say there's no angst, there really isn't any. I was wishing for just a bit I guess, but that is just me being broody and emo.

I burned through the pages. Group Therapy is the perfect binge! I'm not sure what I adored more—the banter and wit or the steam and sizzle. Flawlessly written, laugh-out-loud funny, and enough steam to get you hot under the collar—I'll be thinking about this one for a long time.
SO. GOOD.

This was just unserious, ridiculous and totally messy. It don’t know why it tried so hard to be funny about people’s mental health and therapy in general. Like I don’t find a bunch of therapist pulling ridiculous stuff and not caring about their patients and mental wellbeing funny at all but that’s just me or maybe I just don’t have any sense of humor 🤷🏽‍♀️

Group Therapy was funny, outlandish, witty with great supporting characters that had me laughing out loud throughout this romcom.

Imagine that you are a therapist in training. You just need that letter of recommendation to complete your final step to get licensed. You have a client base who are "elite" and they all have their own quirks that you seem to have a handle on. When your supervisor demands that you take on another client, you have to say YES to get that recommendation. BUT when you realize it is a best selling author that you have a not so secret crush on, that's when things get sticky. This is Lou's (Luna) story of how she gets Thomas O'Reardon's groove back. ;)

Thomas O'Reardon is a best selling thriller author that is darn easy on the eyes AND British. Lou's dream man in every way. But his people have sent him across the pond to get a bit of creative therapy for his writer's block, not to get friendly with his therapist. He has weeks to attend therapy sessions and get a book into his publishers. Thomas never thought he would encounter a therapist like Lou and the drastic measures each of them take to spend time with one another.

While this book wasn't at all realistic, it was funny as hell. The over the top group therapy sessions, the crazy mom and boyfriend/husband living on a commune, the fellow therapists, friends and roommate. They are all just crazy insane in the best way. They add that extra je ne sais quois to the story that you can't help but be endeared to. I couldn't help but laugh at the group therapy sessions and the way they might've actually worked in Lou's favor. Her clients enjoyed her friends brand of crazy therapy. And I did too!

"Sweetie, your energy feels like microwaved Styrofoam right now."
"Well, your energy feels like a stoned Care Bear, so..."

You'll be invested in each character and to see if Thomas and Lou can manage to get him out of his writer's block slump. I didn't have a lot of faith in Lou being able to help Thomas complete his story, but I DID have faith in BB Easton and her brand of humor taking us on a chaotic journey filled with laughs, a bit of sexy romance and even some heart. Definitely check this one out for a light and funny read and an Over The Top Ending that will leave you with shaking your head at the antics of this great crew of characters.

⭐️4.40 therapeutic stars⭐️

The quick witted penmanship of BB Easton brings you a fast paced riveting story that will have you laugh as well as warm your heart, and also wish you had access to the nutjob group therapy happening in those pages.

Anyone who knows me can easily see this veers from my usually go to trope and yet this was exactly what I needed. As I have been going through a rough patch this helped me channelling my pain. It goes without saying I’m quite fascinated with therapy and all its wacky connections, the way BB deals with this topic is hilarious but it also shows the care she took in the small details.

~𝑨 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒔 𝒖𝒑 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑳𝒐𝒖 𝒊𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒇𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒆. 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒔, 𝒊𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒐𝒏𝒆-𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒅~

Perfectly built into this frame is a romance that will appeal to all those keen on sweet fun filled stories with a dash of angst and forbidden.

If you’re looking for a fun filled therapeutic journey give this romcom a go, it might be the ride you were looking for and didn’t know until you jumped on it.

Dude…this was bad. It’s not even about the premise of it. Like my whole ass bioethics certification didn’t even blink at the premise. It was how it was executed 🤡

This is how I feel like millennial memes read. Is so full of bad pop culture references that didn’t even let me focus on the plot cus I was cringing every two pages. Also where is the chemistry? For two people that were all about loosing their jobs for each other they sure lack chemistry 🧪

Group Therapy is a fabulous adventure with Luna and Thomas.
Luna a Ph.D. student that is working for the boss from hell. She just needs a sign off and she is on her way to graduation. She thinks she is home free until she is signed up to be the creativity specialist for an author with writer's block. Luna has always had to learn to adapt. She grew up on the move and was always the new kid so she can do this even though it is so out of her wheelhouse and be on her way to that diploma and her own practice.
Thomas is a writer of the craziest thrillers on the best sellers list, or he was until he developed the almighty block. The creative juices have run dry, and he is on the cusp of having to return his advance until his publisher sends him to see a therapist. Let the adventure commence! Welcome to group therapy. Buckle up you are in for quite a ride.
Luna and Thomas have an instant attraction that they must tamp down. So, when he suggests they see one another more than once a week and outside of the office the first thing that Luna can come up with is Group Therapy. Now let's meet Luna's friends, co-workers and roommate also let's hold the meetings at a bar after hours! This was a laugh out loud, sexy, funny adventure with a wonderful cast of characters surrounding this couple!

This romantic comedy was highly unrealistic, but a lot of fun.

Would-be psychologist, Lou, has to get her author crush Thomas over his writer’s block before her boss will write a letter of recommendation formalising her credentials as a psychologist. When her dreams come true and Thomas asks her out, she comes up with the idea of ‘group therapy’ as a way to see him without compromising her professionalism. What could possibly go wrong?

Bits of this were laugh out loud funny, but it very much read like a screenplay rather than a novel. There were some very clever lines here that while hilarious made the story seem too contrived. Some of the scenes were impossible to ever imagine happening anywhere other than on a big screen. It was at times too loud and too big. I would have like it better if there were more of a focus on why these two liked each other, which seemed largely physical, rather than the big group therapy scenes which while entertaining, were not believable.

It felt like at times the author was chuffed with displaying her own cleverness instead of receding into the background and letting the story weave its magic. And it felt a little disjointed, like the rest of the book was tacked around the big set pieces of group therapy mayhem where hardly any of the characters felt believable.

ADORABLE

I have to admit that this is my first BB Easton book. I didn't even finish the Netflix show - not because I hated it, I just have so many other things to watch and re-watch. I'm a bit addicted to re-watching my favorites like New Girl and Modern Family and Brooklyn Nine Nine! But I will definitely get back to it! (But I also have to admit that the blond guy - the real-life boyfriend of the heroine - I don't know what it is with him, but I can't look at his face - he is so not my type. Ew. But we don't have to look at his face too much anyway!🤣 )

GROUP THERAPY was really adorable!
So funny and awkward and sparky and sweet and sexy and just fun!
I loved reading it.
Lou and Thomas are so perfect for each other. Both are a bit broken from their pasts and their families. And it's so adorable to watch them falling for each other while trying not to. And those hilarious group therapy sessions. Just absolutely read-worthy. And also watch-worthy ... this needs to go on Netflix too asap!

Great Rom-Com with a bit of drama and heartbreak and lots of crazy laugh moments!
I loved it!

GROUP THERAPY was such a funny and heartwarming love story. A bit crazy and over the top here and there - but that just made it even more perfect! I loved reading this! Great Rom-Com! Great cast of people! READ IT!

Well, that was something alright, lol. Endlessly entertaining, that’s for sure. Not all that romantic, but certainly one of a kind and pretty hysterical. Shocked bursts of laughter shot out of me on several occasions, and I definitely couldn't predict where the story was going. Easton is a new-to-me author, so I had no idea what to expect going in, but it took all of 3 pages for me to know that I was really going to enjoy this. Her writing is vibrant and full of life; I loved how unique it felt, and the audio version absolutely enhanced the story. It's light and funny with touches of depth that don't weigh the story down, and I will definitely be reading more from Easton in the future.

The story follows Lou, a therapist who is just settling into her job. She might not be the best person to give advice - she's still figuring things out herself - but she's not going to let her clients know that. So when Lou's boss assigns her an important new client and embellishes Lou's experience, it threatens to derail Lou's whole career. Thomas is a well-known author whose work Lou has been reading for years... and he might just be her secret fantasy. It's her job to help Thomas find his muse and make progress on his new book, but the attraction that sparks between them is certainly an issue. When Thomas asks Lou out, she blurts out an alternative - he'll join her group therapy sessions, and they can spend time together in a semi-ethical way. The only problem? Those group therapy sessions didn't exist when Lou made the offer, and things don't go quite as planned.

This is pretty ridiculous and over-the-top at times, but it had me laughing the whole way through. Lou is a hot mess, Thomas is a hot Brit, and their chemistry is apparent from the start. I didn't always agree with Lou's actions (she does hook up with someone else early on in an attempt to keep things professional), but it just demonstrated the fact that even mental health professionals have their own personal issues. Actually, for a book about a therapist and client, I was surprised how surface level their interactions remained. So much time is spent on the humor that the romantic relationship lacked depth - if they had connected more during their sessions, it would've been more believable. But you know what? I really enjoyed this. It absolutely kept me entertained, and the book flew by.

Audio note: The audio was excellent! Dual narrators, and the male narrator has a sexy British accent. They both give performances that enhance the written word, and the female narrator infuses so much humor into her work. We get a lot more of her than the male narrator, so I was happy that she gives such a stellar performance. The runtime is perfect for a workday listen - just under 8 hours - though the content itself is probably not the best for a public setting. Not only are you likely to snort laugh at least once, but there's sexual content throughout. I highly recommend this on audio.

I went in with low expectations (actually, none lol) after reading the synopsis and was just looking for something to try and shut my critical thinking off. Not focus on the logistics, character development or overall flow. I wanted to just sit and vibe and let me tell you, I knew exactly what I was getting into by the end of chapter one.

The book is so unserious about itself. lol Straight bonkers. My rating is strictly based off my enjoyment I had from the therapy sessions (both solo and groups). They were wild, unhinged, stupid, messy, surprisingly funny, ridiculous, absolute chaos. They reminded me of bad 90s comedy films that would go to vhs so fast but they were a good, bad movie. One that's still very entertaining. They were always on the 4 for $20 or 3 for $21 shelf at Blockbuster. Campy as hell.

Imagine you’re watching an episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia where the gang decides to start their own group therapy in the bar. 🤔💭 Everything you expect would happen there it was what happens at the sessions in this book. 😂

Umm, the romance was fine 🤷🏾‍♀️ and the last 20% was a...decision. There was also a particular scene with the roommate that made me cringe and uncomfortable. It really didn't need to be there at all.

Even with my rating, I see it as a VERY hit or miss book and not sure I'd go around recommending it to anyone. If I do then I will definitely say stick to the physical copy. lol By the 70% mark, I stopped hybrid reading and finished it on my kindle.

The audiobook narrator that does the pov for the fMC was doing a little too much at times with the different voices for the patients and other side characters. It will either heighten the campiness (worked for me sometimes) or distract you completely. It's like night and day compared to the narrator of the mMC who just does regular voices.

I'm not a person who is very strict with the ratings of the books I read, so it's very rare for me to give less than 3 stars for a book but this time I just didn't gave 0 star because the app doesn't allow it.
I saw a lot of people talking about this book so my expectations were high but they rapidly were thrown in the abyss. The book is poorly constructed, there is no real character development and it is very confusing from the beginning to the ending. I couldn't even enjoy the hots scenes (wich they're fine but I was so annoyed with the book that I barely read it). The ending was messy and not good at all, there's no real communication between the mc's so the hole plot was ruined for me

What did I just experience?! I have never laughed so much while reading a story than I did while reading this one! Why didn’t somebody warn me?! This was genuinely the wittiest, most laugh-out-loud, fantastically developed story that I think I have ever read. Romantic comedy GOLD!

Audio re-read
My original review stands. And I loved the audio version!

5✨
10 million starts if possible! This book was hilarious and swoony. I haven’t laughed so hard in a while. I also really loved the plot and found it quite unique. I can’t believe this book isn’t hyped more!

Atlanta.
Luna - Lou - is 28 years old. She always wanted to be an artist - she's super talented with a pencil. But her step-dad told her to get a real job, so now she's a therapist. Almost. She still has a year to go to be the real deal.
That's why she can't say no to her boss's request to take on this VIP client.
Who turns out to be Lou's celebrity super-crush - the world famous author Thomas O'Reardon - who is suffering from a career-threatening writer's block.
It's super attraction on both sides - but you can't date a client, right?
So what to do?
GROUP THERAPY! That way she can meet him outside of the office.
But all her other patients are super ... extra.

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN.... 🤣🤣

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH LOU + THOMAS?
WILL WE GET A HEA??
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

READ IT!

Luna needs a letter of recommendation from her boss as the one last thing standing in her way of becoming a certified psychologist. But when she finds out the client she has to take on in order to get that recommendation letter? Let's just say Luna's crazy, bordering on obsessive, celebrity crush on the man may be an obstacle to getting that letter. How can she possibly be her favorite author's therapist?! Especially when he asks her out?! It's simple really - just invent a group therapy series just so she can be around him. No problem whatsoever...

Oh God but I loved Group Therapy! It's witty and crazy funny in the most zany, over the top way - a romantic comedy of epic proportions with heart, more than its fair share of steam, and two wonderful leads who may have issues, but are imperfectly perfect and lovable. I haven't laughed this hard and fallen in love at the same time in so long.

What happens when an author’s fan girl is put in charge of getting said author out of their writing block?
Lots of laughs and drama.

Following her intense dystopian trilogy, the author has returned to roots, so to speak, lighter romance with a good dose of laughs, which I first discovered with her debut (the 44 Chapters series is a MUST READ)!

The main heroine, Luna "Lou" Sterling, is a bit of a mess. She is working on her psychologist fellowship, in hopes of getting a recommendation from her supervisor, who BTW, seems to hate her. Aside from a litany of obnoxious self-absorbed clients who don't seem to have any real concerning issues, she is given a key opportunity to help an author overcome his writer's block before his upcoming book deadline. That author, Thomas O'Reardon, just happens to be her favorite, not only for reading, but for other darker self-pleasures.

I'll be honest, I had as much faith in Lou fixing this writing problem, as she had herself.
Which is none.

Sure, she goes through some basic therapeutic plans to help Thomas clear his mind, but it isn't until she suggests group therapy, that she awakens something within Thomas.

Let me be clear, these therapy sessions are a disaster. Unrealistic, yet highly entertaining. The insanity of it all, has Thomas looking at Lou in a new light. Cue the violin, or vibrator, lol.

Both main characters go through a rollercoaster of emotions as they grapple with their growing connection, making several mistakes along the way. But Lou manages to save the day in a very dramatic fashion.

Overall, this book was a fun escape and with a good dose of laughs that are much needed in today's crazy new environment.
