This book 5 in The Veterans in Alaska Book Series has a short story with engaging characters. The characters are well-constructed with good histories, unique personalities and believable interactions. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. The military men of Virgin Falls have really big hearts and their wonderful ladies.

Jacob and Leah's Story . . .

Leah has known Jacob since childhood. He has always been her brother Dereck’s best friend, and she has always had a crush on him. With the death of her mother, Leah has to return to Virgin Falls, Alaska, to deal with the cabin and café that is her inheritance. She is eager to see everyone again, and her mind goes to Jacob. He is all grown up now, and everything she wants. If only he wanted her too. She could live there in the cabin. She could keep her singing career and just move it to the café! But can he accept her as more than her brother’s little sister? Can he see and love the woman she has become?

Jacob is also having thoughts about Leah. He remembered the kid who used to follow them around, but she is a grown woman now. He can see a future with her. But does she feel the same about him? And is she determined to leave Virgin Falls? Could he convince her to stay and make a family with him?

I love all of the books in this series. They are simple but so emotionally deep. And there is only one way for the two of them to resolve their angst – communicate with each other! Once they can tell each other the truth, they can move on to make plans. If they don’t speak up, chances are that they will walk away from a love they may never find again. Will they open up to each other and claim the relationship that is waiting for them?

'Jacob' by Emily Evans is the fifth book in her Veterans in Alaska series and tells the story of Leah, who is home from New York, and Jacob, her brother, Dereck's, best friend. Leah and Dereck's mother passed away so Leah has come home to decide what to do with the cabin and cafe that they inherited. Dereck would love for Leah to stay in town and run the cafe with him. Jacob is sitting with Dereck when Leah meets up with her brother. Jacob is blown away by how attractive Leah has become, he knew Leah used to have a crush on him when they were growing up but he only saw her as a little sister. Not any more, although she is his best friend's little sister. Jacob hopes Dereck won't have a problem with him pursuing Leah.

Ms. Evans has written a charming addition to her series. The interactions between Jacob and Leah are sweet and compassionate. This is a lovely story about dealing with the loss of a loved one but finding happiness were you least expect it.

This was a sweet short story. Leah comes back to Virgin Falls(her home town) when her mother dies. She is living in New York and working as a singer. She just stayed away. Now it's hard to come back to these circumstances. Her home town feels just like it should, her home. On her first hour home, she runs into Jacob, who she had a crush on as a young girl. As a grown woman, she finds out she still feels the same way and Jacob returns those feelings. The story is about her finding love and deciding whether she should stay in her home town forever. The characters were very likeable and I enjoyed every word

A nice sweet second chance friends to lovers romance!
Jacob always saw Leah as his best friends little sister growing up but Leah always crushed on him as a little girl!

Now years later after moving away to new York to become a singer, Leah is back for her mother's funeral.

Jacob is bowled over by how a stunning beauty Leah has become and is instantly smitten!
Leah is stunned to realize her feelings for the burly gorgeous mountain man has deepened but she is not sure if she is going to stay to manage her mothers diner.

Leah, her brother Dereck and his best friend Jacob all grew up in Virgin Falls, Alaska with her being a young tagalong. Leah went to school and stayed in New York for her singing, but her mother has passed and she needs to get some paperwork settled with her brother over a cafe and cabin. Leah and her teenage crush Jacob reconnect and sizzle immediately. She needs to decide if she is staying or returning to New York.
The characters are strong, determined and have great history. The storyline has memories, big decisions, lots of steam, intense feelings and much more. Loved the chemistry and banter between the three main characters and the ending was perfect.

Another fine, beautiful, steamy, short story about the men and women of Virgin Falls.
Jacob and Leah are central to this story. Leah is Derreck's sister from an earlier story. After the death of their mother, Leah inherits her cabin and comes home. In New York she has her career and she sings. In Virgin Falls, she has nothing until she finds Jacob, her brother's boyfriend who she had fallen in love with as a young girl.

Leah is clearly searching for the right answer. Stay or return to NY? Jacob is the only correct answer. Beautiful the way he leaves the choice to her and doesn't add any pressure.

First things first; I like the cover of this book!
Jacob is the fifth book in the ‘’veterans in Alaska’’ series.
This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. After years away, Leah is back in her hometown. Jacob is attracted to his best friends now grown up little sister. Will Jacob get his chance with Leah?
The chemistry between Jacob and Leah is clear to see and I liked them together.
I liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I look forward to more books from this series.

Jacob and Leah's story is a fast-paced short story Leah comes home after losing her mom and she's looking forward to seeing Jacob her brother's best friend and her teenage crush. Jacob can't believe that the little girl who used to follow him around is now such a beautiful woman but what is he supposed to do she's still his best friends sister. Is there any way that she feels the same way about him? Is there a way for them to be together? Is she even staying here or is she going back to her career in the city?

This is the fifth book in the Veterans in Alaska series. The guys all made a vow to go back to Virgin Falls to take care of a fallen friend’s widow but they end up finding is love. Each story can be read as a standalone but I think they're better read in order. Jacob and Leah's story is a short and steamy brothers best friend story. Leah's home in Virgin Falls from New York after her mother passes away. She's trying to decide if she wants to stay and run the café her mother left her and her brother Derek. Will Jacob and Leah risk it all to find happiness with each other?

Jacob is a great best friend's sister short romance with will make you smile. Leah has come back to Virgin Falls to visit with her brother, settle up with her mom's affairs and decide the next step in her life. Jacob grew up with Derrick and his little sister, Leah. Years later, seeing Leah again, he did not see the little he knew but a beautiful woman, but will she stay.

Jacob and Leah's story is one that will warm your heart. The connection and passion they have not only for each other but also for the town make their story one that pulls you in quickly from the start.

Jacob and Leah grew up together with her brother Dereck. Leah always crushed on him but ended up going to NYC to pursue a singing career. She's on her way back to Virgin Falls, Alaska after being gone for a long time. Her mother passed away and Leah has inherited her mothers cabin and half of her café with her brother. Leah finally tells Jacob how she's always felt about him and she finds that Jacob loves her also. Jacob want Leah to stay in Virgin Falls with him but he doesn't push her. Sweet, short, steamy story. Jacob was another amazing book in the Veterans in Alaska Series by Emily Evans. Its book 5 but can be read independently but I definitely recommend reading the previous books. Leah has finally come home after she inherited her mom's cabin and cafe. She doesn't know how long she will stay but her brother is hoping she will stay. Her crush Jacob, also her childhood crush is blown away when he sees the now grown up and beautiful Leah. Resisting each other becomes impossible. Will Leah stay in Virgin Falls with Jacob or will she return to her life in New York?

Another good story in this series

Leah is returning to her hometown from NY where she stayed after graduation from college. She enjoyed living and singing there but her mother's death brought her home. Her brother Dereck met her upon arrival. His best friend Jacob was also excited to see her again since he was with her growing up. She certainly grew up and he fell in love with her. They had two decisions to make: whether she would stay and sing in the cafe her mother left them and how to tell Dereck they were in love. Read how it goes. Written by Cindy :)

Coming Home

Another cute short read with lots of love and excitement.
Leah is back home after living in New York but will she be staying.
Dereck is glad to have his little sis back home.
Jacob a childhood friend of both can not believe the little girl has grown up into a beautiful woman.
They both know what they want but because of Dereck and not want to make things difficult.
Hope you enjoy this as much as I have.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this quick story about Jacob and Leah.. He's her brother's best friend. She's the cute little girl that followed him everywhere. Now she's back from New York to settle her mom's affairs.. But she gets more than she bargained. Jacob finally realizes Leah's feelings and gives it a chance.

Leah moved to New York to launch her singing career but when her mother passes away she returns to Alaska to take care of her mothers home and the cafe she owned. When she runs into her Jacob brothers best friend who she always had a crush on she realizes that she still feels the same way. Jacob is shocked how beautiful Leah has become over the years and since he always had feelings for her but she was too young and then she moved away so now he knows he needs to make a move or let her go.

I found Jacob and Leah a good enough couple but I did struggle a bit with the way the narrative was written.
I found it hard to connect with. However, this is a really short story (which sometimes is really handy) so you might want to give it a try if you got less than an hour to spare.

Leah is going back to the cabin and cafe her mom left her after she died. She has always had a crush on Jacob and he seems to have gotten hotter. Jacob is surprised at what Leah looks like now. He knows that she is the one that he is supposed to take care of and love forever.
