Crowned Crows #3

A Fractured Reign

Rate this book
The Crows are more than nightmares lurking in every shadow.
They’re a brotherhood. Family. When threats creep in, they’ll protect what belongs to them.

Quinn
Does a wrong make a right?
In my case, it has to.
The Kings gave me no choice, no chance to fold.
I betrayed the guy who believed he was protecting me while I gave his secrets away.
Now we’re enemies once more.
My brother and I burned all our bridges. Begging Colton DuPont for his help again is my only option.
The Crows demand a steep price, but to buy our safety I’ll do anything.
Even sell my soul to the man who wants me dead.

Colton
Our unmatched reign is going up in flames.
And I know exactly who our enemy is. Quinn Walker.
My queen turned out to be my downfall.
Any danger to my brothers is a threat I won’t allow.
Once these flames sputter to ashes and the dust settles, our next hunt begins.
My monster has come out to play, and I won’t rest until I get revenge.
Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice?
Baby, you better run, because I’m coming for you.

After reading the first book, I was really hoping this was going to be Colton’s and Queens story, mostly because I found Pippa bitchy, but now I’m conflicted. But either way, definitely cannot wait until this comes out because I was not expecting that cliffhanger at all. Also anyone get vibes that Queen isn’t exactly someone to be trusted and have something to do with the hacking at the end of book 2?
I did find myself finding Wren and Rowan a little annoying while reading book 2, so I’m really hoping the same thing doesn’t happen reading outside Levi and Islas POV. Can we just backtrack a bit and agree how smoking hot Levi is? Goddamn.
Author, please release the next two books ASAP, your girl out here be needing more and if I die from anticipation, I’m holding you accountable

Cliff-hanger ending with no next book in sight!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😊😄😘😍

The heroine: Quinn - She is a hacker, one of the best out there, she is also a card shark and is able to make bank at underground casinos and online poker. Quinn is a bit eccentric in that she dresses the way she wants, and she has a colorful personality. She tries to stand her ground and doesn’t back down. Though the Kings of Thorne Pointe, one in particular, named Fitz Mortimer, had her in a frying pan and she has been trying to get herself and her brother Sampson out of the fire. The only way she could do that was to betray the Crows in a terrible way. Especially Colton, because he trusted her and helped her and her brother when she said they needed it.

The Hero: Colton - He and his three best friends are known as the Crowned Crows of Thorne Point. They ran the night at Thorne Point. They have a bunch of underground revenue streams including underground fights, illegal casinos and a weekend nightclub called the Crows Nest, where they live as well. Colton is the tech wiz of the group. He is awesome at hacking and coming up with all kinds of tech gadgets to make their lives easier. However, he has recently been made aware that though he has a bunch of underling techies that work for him, there is someone out there that has gotten around his coding.

The Story: This one started out with a bang, or maybe I should say the last one ended with a bang. Either way, things were not looking good for the Crowned Crows. Just when they thought they got one over on the Kings, they were taken down another notch and this time it was a big one. Quinn has a very high IQ, and she comes from an extremely wealthy family, but all the money was stolen, and she and Sammy ended up in foster care. The she took the job with Fitz Mortimer because she needed the money for herself and her brother to go to Crown Point University. However, she didn’t know how far Mortimer would go to get his way and she regrets what she did to the Crows.

Fitz Mortimer has been using Sammy and his future as a way to keep Quinn in line. Though I don’t really get why she did what she did. I mean she was there in Colton’s apartment when the Crows were talking about rescuing women from human trafficking. I mean, if I were her, I would have switched loyalties right then and there and fessed up to Colton about who she was and why she was there. Apparently, Quinn knew much less than I would have guessed about her employer.

I wasn’t too fond of the cover on this book. I mean the guy was cute, but he looked like he was about 15 years old. I do have a pet peeve about books set in high school when they have like a 35-year-old man on the cover, but this kid looks like he is too young to be a senior in college and way to young to have tattoos. But despite that fact, I was really looking forward to Colton’s book. He has an awesome personality and I love that he is so intelligent and imaginative. This book went more into his background and abuse he suffered at the hands of his father.

One thing I really like about this one was that the Crows were all jazzed up about taking down the Kings and I couldn’t wait for that to happen. Especially Wren’s father, Levi’s uncle and Colton’s dad and Mortimer, who was a new villain in this book. Though they did take down most of the Kings that were set up in earlier books as the baddest of them all, this book still ended on a huge cliffhanger with the one at the very top still in control and wreaking havoc on the Crows. To make things worse, the next book seems to never have been written. So, we don’t get an ending at all.

***4 "Game on!!!" stars***

"Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice?
Baby, you better run, because I’m coming for you."

Another great addition to this dark, suspensful and sinister world!!!!
We took some answers, but we need the next book for the missing pieces to be put into their right places!!!
I liked how complicated Veronica Eden has made things in the Thorne Point...
I like the four crows and their girls had stolen my heart!!!
It was time for the jokster of the group to take his book and for his little Queen to shine!!! And what a beautiful, hot and a little bit nerdy story was that!!!

"Let's play a game..."

Colton DuPont is not who he seems to be... He seems the most easygoing of the Crows, but he is hiding darkness in him... His past trauma is making him very protective of his loved ones and sometimes he is overloading himself and he is about to snap...
Quinn was one girl that he had chosen to give freely his protection, but she betrayed him when she sided with the enemy and ruined something very dearly to him...
Now, he is determined to make her pay for her betrayal!!!

"You brought my monsters out to play. I hope you're ready, because they want to take a big fucling bite out of you."

Quinn lost everything once upon the time and from that moment, she decided to earn back everything she had lost and to protect the only person that means something to her...
It was nothing personal with the Crows, but when she realized in what she took part of, she started to feel guilty!!!!
Now, she is in hiding and the only person who can help her is Colton DuPont, but how he can trust her again, after everything that had happened???

"It's time to sell what's left of my soul again, offering it up to the man that will want me dead once he finds out the truth."

I liked Colton and Quinn very much... They were similar in many ways and I liked the connection they were having with their computer skills... Individual were amazing, but when their power was combined, they were unbeatable...
They were kind of nerdy, but they were a very hot mess and I liked watching their story be unravelled...
They had trust issues and it was showing, but if they would leave everything aside, they could be amazing!!!

"She's a game I want to win. Nothing more. I won't give her a free pass to slide through my defenses." {Colton}

"I shut down my attraction with iron force. That's not why I'm here for and I refuse to allow any distractions. Any vulnerabilities in my protective walls." {Quinn}

All three books were amazing and they have to be read in order cause you won't be able to follow the back story otherwise!!!
The only sure thing is that aside each of the Crows is finding love, something bigger is brewing in the background and these four and their girls are trying to fight it with all their mighty!!!
And I can wait to reach the end and to see what will happen after all!!!
The only sure thing is that I am craving Jude and Pippa's story like crazy!!! I am sure that these two will be explosive!!!

"A Crow will always remember the enemy, and we show no fucking mercy."

Overall Opinion :
Colton and Quinn are here! I am so hooked into this series by this author. Not to mention her covers , which keep getting hotter with each and every book . I have been waiting for Colton's book for a long time. This one is a standalone with a contemporary and dark romance edge to it. The storyline was connected to all the books of this series. It can be read as a standalone but for the best experience and to avoid spoilers from the other books.

Definitely recommending this one to all the contemporary romance loving people out there.

The way men acted when the joker came out… the last installment of this series will be MY joker except I will be so much worse! JudePippa morally corrupt guy x cop officer second chance romance please come home 🙏🏻

"Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice?
Baby, you better run, because I’m coming for you."

Tropes: enemies with benefits to lovers, forced proximity, only one bed, found family trope

Honestly? I can't tell you much about the plot without spoiling the series, but this is your classic "group of friends rulingthe city" on STEROIDS. Sometimes that plot is laughable because they're barely legal age men, but the Crows have what it takes to make it work. Not only are all of them handsome and master manipulators, they are smart too with the means and the money to overthrow a mf secret society that is toying with them.

check my bookig edit here :-)!

I've been waiting for Colt DuPont ever since his appearance on Sinners & Saints and I was right about assuming that the jokester of the bunch always hides a lot of trauma and dark secrets! I didn't expect his background story, but it made a lot of sense to because he was always ready to work for his brothers and prove his worth. It broke my heart how he always tried to protect everyone he loved after his childhood experiences, and his trust issues as well after the only person to catch his eye and challenge him ended up betraying him.

As for Quinn Walker... what a QUEEN! online and in front of the crows. After her family fell apart, she was the only one providing for herself and her younger brother, which is why she has always been willing to take care of her little family, even if it means mixing with the wrong crowd. Now that she's realized her mistake, she's back in the crow's nest, but this time as an asset under severe surveillance by Colt DuPont, who won't let her take a single step without him knowing. She realized her mistake pretty quickly and was ready to help the Crows, even more so now that they have a common enemy, but even when most of them were wary of Quinn, and Colt was ready to make her pay for her betrayal, she did not let herself be dominated by him, and always responded to each of his challenges.

Their romance was filled with nerdy hacker games and constantly taunting each other, until one of them ended up giving up and giving in to the chemistry and tension they've had since they met. They really were the perfect match for each other. And it was a bit angsty too; Like, they were amazing together, as a hacker team and in bed, but they were also constantly worried about Quinn's betrayal hanging over their heads. Her, struggling to win his trust back, and Colt trying to see if he could trust her, but almost always finding her doing secret things until all her cards were revealed.

Overall, this was a great new piece to the Crows puzzle, although I'm really waiting for Veronica to give me all the answers because my brain isn't working anymore! I'm so excited that we are only one installment away from everything being resolved, and even though the author hasn't said anything, to get Jude and Pippa. I just know that their story will be epic!

A Fractured Reign is the third installment of the Crowned Crows series. This book follows both Colton and Quinn, characters we have previously met throughout the series.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. I'm glad the book went beyond Colton's hilarous and funny side and the fact that we got the opportunity to learn more about Colton and his story. I also love Quinn, she's such a strong female character. Her love and affection towards her brother was one of my fav things. Regarding them as a couple, the dynamic was amazing. I may have missed some angst (just because i love a good angsty book) but both characters knew each other as they met previously, and there was something going-on. However, the tension was there. What I loved the most about the book was, as always, the found family trope.

With this third installment, I'm even more hooked on the plot, I can't wait for the next and final book of the series. I already know Jude and Pippa's book is going to be my fav, I've been waiting for their book since the very beginning. Judepippa have the potential, plus, they'll serve second-chance!!!!!

you know what, i'm gonna let quinn summarise this book for me:
"He plants his hands on the floor. They draw my eye. The long, tattooed fingers, prominent veins, and bony knuckles stir heat in my low stomach. My brain has always turned into a thirsty bitch for hand veins and tattoos, and he has both in spades. His biceps flex, stretching his graphic tee."

so we pick up after the fire that happened at the end of Loyalty In the Shadows, where the whole nest was turned into a fireball *queue pitbull song*. anywhoo, turns out, our lovely quinn was responsible for that cause she a real one and goes where the money at. the crows (read: colton) find her, and he basically keeps her to himself 24/7, and doesn't trust her anymore.

long story short (read the book lol i don't have the time or memory to remember everything that happens) they take down wren's dad and levi's uncle; but that only happens in like the last 4 chapters like why?? though the spice did make up for it 👀 but why so little action :(

ENEMIES TO RELUCTANT FRIENDS TO ENEMIES TO HATE FUCKING TO LOVERS

i'm also loving the way Veronica Eden doesn't pointlessly make all the couples break up in like the last 10 chapters only to have some traumatic saviour complex shit to make them realise that they are soulmates like gtfo.

about the ending #spoilers
controversial, but jude can do SO MUCH better than pippa and i do NOT want a second chance romance with them because ugh i will be mad but still read it because, yaknow, they still need to take down judge snyder.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5)
Trope: enemies to lovers
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Another fantastic ride in the fantastic series that is Crowned Crows! A Fractured Reign in the 3rd book in the Crowned Crows series and is told in first person, from dual perspective. It must be read in series order due to overarching and overlapping story arcs between books. In this book we have the story of Colton, the seemingly jokester hacker/tech guy for the Crows and his would-be hacker Queen, Quinn. They first meet in the previous book, but when one of Quinn's jobs has unforeseen and dangerous implications for the Crows, Quinn finds herself on Colton's darker side, vulnerable to any revenge he can think up. Quinn has to work really hard to protect her brother, regain Colton's trust, and work out all the feelings with angry smexy, lol.

A Fractured Reign has you on the edge of your seat with all the twists, turns, and secrets from page one and never lets go! Colton has a lot of crap built up inside him and Quinn's seemingly senseless betrayal just seems to let it all loose. The funny guys always seem to have way more depth than what appears on the surface and Colton is no exception. Always trying to protect those he loves, he's never really had anyone to do that for him and the waters are running deep. He and Quinn are a lot alike in that way. Super smart protectors that are wound way too tight... which leads to the angry smexy referenced above. We knew from the last book the chemistry between them was HOT 🔥🔥🔥. What I was not prepared for was how NASTY it was going to be 🙈. Like, hot, but dirty kinky, lol. Like spit in your mouth when it still has 💦 in it nasty. But surprisingly, I was there for it 🤷🏻‍♀️. This was one of my favorite books in the series so far, but I truly cannot wait for Jude and Pippa's story!

⛔️ My bookshelves can sometimes contain spoilers

*ARC received for an honest review*

A Fractured Reign is the third book in the Crowned Crows series. It is Colton & Quinn's. I had been wanting and anticipating to read Colton's book since the first time he was introduced. He was my favourite character. And when his match was revealed in LITS, I was even more excited to read this book. And it didn't disappoint. I loved this book so much.

The cliffhanger in the previous book had me in my seat and wanted to read the book as soon as possible. I was so anxious to know what would happen in the future and also scared because of how painfully it ended. But after getting the sneak peak of Chapter one that Veronica released a few months ago, I haf a sigh of relief knowing nothing bad happened.

Quinn. AHHH MY QUEEN. I love her so much. The way she was so strong and fierce. She didn't let anything bring her down. She stood by and faced the consequences of her actions instead of running away from it. She went out of her way to do anything for the people she cared about. She was an amazing big sister to her younger brother. She was so protective of him and did everything in her life just to provide a better life for him.

Colton was my little sunshine from the minute I met him. The way he was always so energetic and joking around like a comedian. But getting into his head, it showed how much of trauma and secrets he held inside. His past was so sad and heartbreaking. All the trauma shaped the man he is today. He felt responsible for his brothers and wanted to protect them at all cost. They were his only family and he wanted to show them he was worthy.

Colton and Quinn were so amazing together. They were exactly what each other needed. Their chemistry was insane and the sexual tension was so intense. I loved all their nerdy banters. And also loved how they bought down the walls they put for each other. Even though Quinn's past actions was like the elephant in the room, Colton slowly lower his guard down and start trusting her slowly as the time went and he got to know more about her.

I loved the other characters. They were amazing as always. I love to see how they are doing after their books. And loved to see them as an United front fighting against evil.

The story and plot was as interesting as everyother books in this series. Every book has new revelations about the main conflict which solves part of the problem but also leave us with more questions. And curiousity and excitement to see what will happen in the future.

Im so excited for the next book. I love Jude and Pippa. I have been waiting for their book since the start. Their story is going to be so angsty. They will serve second chance and betrayal trope. I can already see how this story will end me. I can't wait to finally read their book and also to see how the conflict will be resolved and put an end to it.

Thank you, Veronica Eden and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for giving me the arc.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

In the third book of the series (not a standalone) we have a different version of Colton. Until now he was the jokester who was always flirty and silly, but when Quinn betrays him, his ruthless side comes to play.
I thought everyone forgave her really fast. In her chapters we got her POV and could see she was regretful, but she didn’t demonstrate it. She was always hot-headed and belligerent. I wouldn’t forgive the betrayal so fast. That’s what bothers me the most in this book and I didn’t care for them as a couple and this connection is one of the most important things to me in a romance book. That being said, this was the hottest book of this series so far.
Ok, about the plot. While in the other books there was always this mysterious hacker putting obstacles im their plans, here they gather forces to stop the villains terrible plans. However, by the end of the book you’ll have a new enemy joining the party what will lead to the plot of the final book (Jude’s and Pippa’s). So you can expect a cliffhanger.

*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. ***

A Fractured Reign

I am sad.
With the arrival of A Fractured Reign and Colton & Quinn’s story it means we’re one step closer to the end of the Crowned Crows series and I’m not ready to let these men go!

Colt has managed to bring the biggest smiles to my face in every book so far, you can’t help but love him and his flirty, fuck boy persona. He’s the one that you would have so much fun with and we’ve always seen him so carefree. Following the horrible cliffhanger in Loyalty In the Shadows (thanks for that Veronica 👀) we see Colt feeling incredibly betrayed, he carries a lot of weight on his shoulders and he’s determined to make Quinn pay.

Quinn will do anything to keep her brother safe and if that means being locked away in the Nest 2.0 being Colts lackey then so be it.The guilt she feels is nearly enough to override the disdain she feels towards Colts cocky attitude.
Watching their relationship progress and them fall in love felt like such an honour, the vulnerability Quinn allowed herself to finally feel made me want to climb into the book and hold her, she’s such a dynamic character, I wish I could be just like her and she’s definitely my fave Crows women so far!

One scene that gripped my heart was the guys open honest talk, I feel like it was such an important scene it’s okay for men to be mushy you know. Also the boat scene!? I felt like I was watching a action movie holy fuck like I would kill to see this as a movie. It was chefs kiss 👌🏻

The spice in this book like Veronica went hard 😮‍💨 all the spitting had me sweating and one of my favourite scenes had to be the dressing room scene, it felt so intimate and special.

I just love this series so much, so please read it ✌🏻 HAPPY RELEASE DAY VERONICA 😻

I really enjoyed the first two books of this series and was excited to read book 3, Colton’s story.

But I could only get 21% in. Which saddens me as I’d love to read to know the larger story threading through the books, and to finally hear Jude and pippas story.

Sadly I can’t:
The FMC in this book is Black. I’ll give the author credit that so far she’s managed to keep from comparing Quinn’s skin to a food item as so many authors writing POC characters do.

I will also give credit for research into correct terms for a Black hairstyle, and nighttime sleeping attire to protect hair.

But the following things have bugged me too much to stay in the storyline:
1. The fact that it’s never said outright she’s Black. This could have been done in a way that acknowledges it respectfully. Instead in book 2, her braids are mentioned often. In THIS book, every chapter from her perspective talks about her braids, including her ruminating about a more protective hairstyle in the same paragraph she’s trying to get to her brother who “is all she has” while avoiding very bad men. To Aldi her talking about her braids flipping over when the MMC picks her up, even though in book 2, I don’t remember the times the FMC was thrown over a shoulder her talking about HER hair flipping around. It’s unrealistic that she’s on the run and thinking of her next Black hairstyle. It seemed like a way for the author to signify hey she’s Black! Hey I know Black hairstyles.
2. She’s the only FMC that comes from foster homes, with a grandma that mostly raised her, even though she mentions they used to have money before it was stolen from them. With the percentage of Black children in foster homes vs the amount of white children it seems a weird choice to make for the one Black character to be from a foster home.
3. The first FMC is a plucky over curious journalist type who is poking her nose in trying to solve her brother’s disappearance. The second FMC is a senator’s daughter with a traumatic past who uses dance to deal and is eternally positive. THIS FMC is shown to be a liar and a cheat, just concerned with earning money with hints of trying to get her and her brother’s legacy back. It’s irritating that the hacker, ace poker player, backstabber of MMC also happens to be a non-white FMC. Sure she’s also written as wicked smart and has enough of a conscience to help take down bad guys in book 2 and feel guilty for stabbing MMC and his friends in the back, but also is the most morally gray FMC (book 4’s FMC is going to be a good cop in a sea of corrupt bad cops) and the only WOC FMC?
4. Her lush full lips were mentioned by MMC 4 times in one chapter. This was my breaking point that I had to put the book down. While the prior 2 books mentioned FMC lips…it wasn’t 4 times in a chapter.

It saddens me when a Black FMC is reduced to box braids and lush full lips, it’s rude and disrespectful to Black women everywhere.

Ms. Eden, ma'am. You can weave a story! I loved this series from the get go! I was especially excited for this one because ever since I saw the movie Hackers (Angelina Jolie and Jonny Lee Miller circa 1995, yes 1995 LOL) I have been obsessed with this world! Not to mention Angelina and Jonny were so hot in this movie! Watch it if you haven't seen it.

A Fractured Reign is the story of Colton and Quinn, hackers elite. After the fire that burned the Nest to the ground, the boys take Quinn when realizing she hacked into Colt's system. Quinn realizes the mistake she made, not realizing the end game was taking out the Crows. Using her hacker skills, her and Colt set out to take down the Kings, one by one. In the process, the guilt and the hate created between these two turns to something else. Neither can deny the chemistry they feel, and in the end it may be their demise.

So, I will admit from the get-go, I was not fan of Colton being paired with Quinn (or Queen Q as we have known her). And, this couple, sadly, is not my favorite. I think they are fantastic characters apart and Quinn would have made a powerful addition to the group, but them as a couple for me fell flat. I struggled through most of the book and I just feel like they would've been better best friends (though I'm sure they will still be as a couple!). Anyways, that is just this ole' girls personal opinions! I've read reviews and know a LOT of you love them, so absolutely no hate.

The book itself was good! The mystery is still there, the unraveling of an insane world and the suspense is what keeps this all going! So while they were not my favorite couple, I still stand by this series!

I love the Crowned Crows series and was really excited for Colton and Quinn's book, especially after Loyalty in the Shadows' ending. I enjoyed it a lot, and it was great to learn more about Colton and his past and see more than just his funny and flirty side. Quinn was also an intriguing character and I love the fact that she did everything she could to protect her brother and avenge her family's legacy. The chemistry and tension between them is very strong and palpable, but I wouldn't have minded a little bit more angst 👀 What I love most about this series is the found family aspect between the Crows and their girls and Quinn fits right in! I still have a lot of questions about the plot, but it's very intriguing and the truth is so close. Jude and Pippa are next and I can't freaking wait because these two have had me on chokehold since book 1 and I know they are going to deliver all the angst!!

A Fractured Reign is the continuation of the Crowned Crows series and Colton and Quinn’s story!

Colton has always been an intriguing character to me so this book was very exciting. I enjoyed reading both povs of the characters and seeing how their relationship would develop throughout the story. I absolutely LOVE Quinn and her personality. She’s strong and has those soft spots for the people she truly cares about. The moments between Colton and Quinn are explosive and the best. The tension between them is everything and I like how they both have strong personalities.

Overall, plot-wise I’m getting more and more intrigued. I like the build up and how it keeps going from one book to the next. It has you wanting to tune in and find out the answers to questions that circle around. The crew in this series is always written so well and the bond they have is truly unbreakable. I can’t wait for the next book!

When it comes to the Crows Colton has always been the one to enliven any situation no matter what it is but we also know that there isn’t anything he won’t do for those he cares about. In this installment of the series, we learn that we don’t really know him at all which only makes him that much more appealing.

You will start this book despising Quinn’s actions, but she is determined to make amends for the mistakes of the past and you begin to see another side of her. She is fierce, fiery and Colton’s equal in every way so even though their journey was difficult that only made the outcome that much better.

The suspense is on point, the chemistry is intense, and Colton and Quinn have a way of challenging each other that only makes their relationship stronger and deeper.

Betrayal & Banter

Sexy brainiacs who try to constantly outwit each other and a long awaited twisty story as the Crows look to resurrect their reign. This is not a standalone and ends in a cliffhanger.

Colton has always gotten me with his goofy humour and freaking crazy intelligence. He’s protective, loyal to the core and obsessively cautious. Of course he is when the Crows have built their kingdom on the secrets of others.

Quinn is unexpected to say the least and has found the tiny chink in Colt’s high security armour.

Her beauty and vulnerability may have fooled Colt once but he’s not taking any chances again.

Forced proximity and a meeting of minds has these two teasing out their insane chemistry while taking out the scum of society. This story is one to get lost in with its tech talk and evil secret society ways.

I love this series and can’t wait for Jude and Pippa’s story. I think it’s going to be so hot but will hurt so good!

This series lives rent free in my head. I wasn’t completely convinced I was going to love colts and Quinn’s story like unloved wren and Levi’s stories. But let me tell you. The things that come out of that man’s mouth 🥵 gives a whole new meaning to dirty talk! Hot. Damn. I cannot wait to read Jude and Pippas story especially after that cliffhanger!

A Fractured Reign is book three in the Crowned Crows series. This is Colton's story and is best enjoyed reading by reading the series in order.

Colton and Quinn were so deliciously fun to read! The attraction they both felt for each other was pouring off the pages!

I loved how Veronica Eden gave us fun Colton as well as a peek into the serious parts he hides. The same thing can be said of Quinn. She's a badass but she's also vulnerable and we get to see that side in this book.

Then there's the story that continues from each book. I did not expect all that to unfold and I can't wait to see how it ends in the the next, and last, book in the series!

ARC kindly provided for the author in exchange for an honest review

Ever since I read Crowned Crows of Thorne Point Colton is kind of my favorite of the Crowned Crows so I was looking forward to his story, and of course that after the end of Loyalty In the Shadows I needed his book even more! although I didn't know exactly what direction Veronica Eden would give Quinn & Colton, my expectations were pretty high considering how much I've enjoyed the previous books, and I'm very happy to say that A Fractured Reign gave me everything I wanted and a little more with its funny, sensual, heartbreaking and shocking story with the secrets that Quinn was hiding and that totally unexpected ending.

Quinn had also struck me as a very interesting character since his first appearance, and I loved that Veronica gave her such an amazing and well-constructed personal story. She's a girl willing to do anything to protect her younger brother Sampson, who is the only family she has, and with whom she shares a beautiful relationship that melted my heart, both have lived through complicated situations and that is why Quinn has taken on the role of protector, she's strong, courageous, very hard-working and doesn't accept shit from anyone, one of the characteristics that I loved the most because that made her job by Colton's side much more fun to read. I loved meeting Quinn, knowing the origin and the reason for her approach to the Crowned Crows, plus, I really liked reading her vulnerable side, how she learned to trust Colton even after everything they had lived and the way in which Rowan & Isla accepted her into their circle and offered her their friendship.

As I said Colton is my favorite so far, I think his fun, playful and flirtatious personality was what I liked the most at first, but I loved that in this book we could see that there is a lot more about him: fears and insecurities that manifest when Quinn's betrayal threatens his family and that although it was what I liked the most about his character, it was also something that broke my heart a lot, but that led me to one of my favorite scenes in the series where the friendship between the boys and their love for each other is more evident than ever. I also really enjoyed reading Colton in his element: with all his hacker skills and working alongside Quinn.

I think the most unexpected thing this book had for me was the way Quinn & Colton reunite after she betrayed him and how their relationship developed after that: I have to say that I enjoyed reading a cruel, hurt and insecure Colton who tried in every way not to fall in love with Quinn and make her pay, but who obviously failed in the attempt and could not avoid the great chemistry they shared from the first moment. Plus I loved that Colton always understood Quinn's concern for Sampson and helped her protect him. Another thing that I really liked was the way in which he trusted her again, in which he cared about her and decided to let her trust him too, plus I found it totally sexy that Colton recognized, admired and loved Quinn's skills and intelligence, and that together they make an amazing team!, and the ending Veronica gave to his love story was also unexpectedly beautiful.

And the end of the book!!! OMG, it was something that I did NOT see coming and that makes me even more excited to read Jude & Pippa, to know the secrets she keeps, what their history was like befora and what will happen with the plot of this amazing series.
