Oh, our Milly changes things up just a bit and so so love it.
What happens when humans and shifters don't mix, someone gets locked up. Not only is our resident sexy shifter locked up his dragon is locked up.
Is there a Dr in the house? Ryver is it! and things don't go exactly as they should in the faraway village and not a lot of options for 'help'.
There are baddies everywhere, the rescue is shakey but if he wants his freedom... really how much trouble can one human be?
Milly gives us some action that keeps us flicking the pages for more. Well done. This story was full of action and sparks, nice heat made me a happy reader. Grab it and enjoy.

Good book. Action packed. Decent characters. But the writing and story were a bit simple. Some stuff was never explained, some scenes were glossed over too quickly, and a background character or two seemed to switch personalities just to make the story easier. I enjoyed the read and tore through it in a day, but it’s just a mid read—not great and not bad either.
Each book will be a standalone, focusing on different characters. Though you should probably read book 1 first as it sets up the story about the supernatural prison and the prisoners who will be chosen to perform mercenary-like duties in exchange for limited freedom.

Great story
Cannon, a dragon shifter, is given a chance of freedom from a supermax prison that he's been in for years, holding shifters society is afraid of. His mission for freedom is to rescue 3 doctors in Africa trying to treat medically needy patients. The doctors were kidnapped by militias for ransom from the US government.
The only setback is that the warden, General Anderson, the woman responsible for the imprisonment of all the captured shifters has created an implant that has subdued the animal side of the shifter. So that means everyone in the supermax prison is equivalent to a human being. No extra strength, no enhanced eyesight or hearing, etc.
So when Cannon Dex, dragon shifter, is presented with an offer of freedom, he eagerly takes it. The General gives him all his shifting abilities except his Dragon wings to fly, and inserts a suicide detector that will go off when he travels out of range of his orders.
Cannon finds the only doctor left alive, Ryver Fernandez. After running for a few days, he realizes from her scent that she smells just like the General. But Ryver's mother died when she was a child. Cannon also knows that she's his mate, no doubt about that. The question is what to do about that information.

Riveting read, great characters and wonderful plot that would captivate you
This is a wonderful read that will hold your attention from start to finish and as the start of a new series it leaves you anxiously waiting for the next book in this series. As a dragon shifter he is offered a wonderfully challenging job which is to rescue an abducted human female medic Ryver Fernando
When he discovers that in fact the female is his actual Mate and as much as it seems impossible to comprehend the woman that had him imprisoned is in fact his mother, can you now actually imagine how amazingly complex things are about to get for him soon.
This is an action filled story and I do not want to spoil the plot for others so am careful about how much I tell you about the plot so as not too spoil future reads for others.
Ryver and her newly found mate are something special and their chemistry is off the charts, they are standing on a firm base as they are both in a mutual relationship that has been firmly built on trust.
This is a wonderful read and you will be left unable to wait for the next book in this series to be released so that you can read how this couple are progressing in their relationship.

Ryver is a young doctor representing all the female doctors along with male doctors from the Ivory Institute working in the Central African Republic and things are not looking well because the village they were in was attacked and now they are in tents for the night but men come in and snatch her up and take her in a truck somewhere and chain her up and then make her do a video so they can ransom her she is scared to death but what she doesn't know is that someone is about to help her.
Cannon is a Dragon shifter mercenary who has committed crimes but was tossed into prison so that the people who know of the shifters does not want them roaming the world, especially those that are fighting for equality he has been in prison a long time they have taken away his dragon abilities so he is more human than he would like but he receives a visit from the warden and she tells him that she has a deal that he cannot refuse a chance to get out of prison he will do anything. An excellent storyline and the characters are very entertaining. Drama, suspense, violence, action-adventure, danger, and love. I read an ARC via BookFunnel without obligation. Talk about action! This one is all action.
Humans aren't fond of shifters. Any excuse, legit or not, and it's shifter prison for them. So Cannon discovered. The miserable beings had found ways to control even dragon shifters and make them live in the worst conditions. Now, the General promised to release him--with stipulations. What choice did he have? Even after he discovered the person he had to rescue to be set free was not only the General's daughter but his mate.
The rescue didn't go as planned and was in doubt over and over again. Would they make it out? Both of them alive? Would his dragon and human halves be able to save the most important human alive?
As a fanatic of the author's work, I can honestly say this one has the most action I've seen in any of the many books I've read of hers. An unending string of bad guys, questionable others, and a team of guys that could surely make for a great series.
Will they make it out alive? Will promises made be kept? Action, steam, great story, and characters. Don't miss it, however, won't-want-to-put-it-down warning.

I love me a, get out of jail rescue romance!
Cannon has been in a supermax prison, his dragon shifter side repressed for so long. When offered a get out of jail free card he of course wonders what the catch is. The deal offered does indeed have a catch. They've given him the ability to shift back but within limitations. Little does Cannon know though, that's not the real catch!
Ryver Fernando is a doctor who's current mission is to provide medical aid to Africa. When she's captured by militia, she does the only thing a strong woman wanting to survive can. She fights to stay alive and plans an escape. When Cannon shows up and helps her do just that she can't begin to tell him how grateful she is.
The adventure doesn't stop there though. Together they make a run for it, dodging bullets while trying not to fall for one another. The struggle to survive is real but so is the unmistakable pull to become mates!
Watch out for the twists that Milly Taiden throws at these two because they're some doozies! I can't wait for the next book in the series!

I loved this start to the series. It was a great twist on the shifter, special-ops kind of story with a touch of fated mate added for good measure. I loved Ryver who was definitely sassy and determined to not show any weakness. Their relationship was built on trust and it was great to see her do her best to have a partnership but also be prepared to accept help when it was obvious that it was beyond her. Very easy to read, feel and understand. Easy to become addicted to this story. Contains explicit sexual content.

Alpha men in general are lust-worthy, but paired up with shifter lore makes it so much more tantalizing. Milly Taiden has the corner on shifter romance, but now she is embarking on militarizing the shifter world, and I love it. Cannon is not the typical shifter. He doesn’t fit into society and doesn’t care to, until, that is, Ryver steps into his life. Now Cannon is fantasizing about making a life with Ryver and how that will work into his solitude on the mountain fantasy, after his release from military prison of course. There is also the fact that Ryver is the daughter of his warden and captor. With all these obstacles and action pact adventures, there’s no shortage of suspense and edge-of-your-seat drama. I’m so looking forward to the next installment of this series, and I’m really hoping it’s more than a trilogy. Maybe it can be something like the PDA world? Hint. Hint.

WOW! I love to read books by Milly Taiden. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Cannon is the first book to a new series. This is Ryver and Cannon's story. Cannon is a Dragon shifter mercenary. The government put him in prison. River is a female doctor that works in high risk countries to try to make children’s lives better. What happens when she gets abducted and held hostage? So now he will get-out-of-jail free card and hell is about to get all kinds of crazy. All he needs to do is find and rescue Ryver. Can Cannon find her in time? It keeps you at the end of your seat waiting to see what happens next! This story was filled with a lot of action and excitement. It's definitely a little different than what Milly usually writes. And I love it!! Can't wait to read more from this series. Keep up the amazing work.

Sent on a mission to rescue a kidnapped woman with only a partial restore of his shifting powers, will he be able to not only fulfill the mission and save this unknown woman, but keep her safe afterwards? Or, will they both perish at the hands of the never-ending lineup of guerrilla that seem to be able to pick them out everywhere they stop.
Action packed and fast-paced, this tale will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
A definite must read for me!

The warden is a female villain that you learn to hate immediately. The shifters are treated poorly and are medically altered to suppress their animals. Cannon is a dragon shifter that is given a chance to leave the prison for a dangerous search and rescue. River is a female doctor that works in high risk countries to try to make children’s lives better when she is abducted and held hostage. Will Cannon find her in time? Full of action and excitement. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Great book & story line. The warden being the villain but also something underlying her behavior. The government falsely arresting shifter who only want human rights, because fear of supernatural. Cannon a “prisoner” sent on a mission to save young doctors Ryver so he can earn his freedom.
Ryver start out young doctors helping cure women & children from a sickness in central Africa. She gets attacked she fights back she’s strong she has defensive moves. As we get more into the book she becomes a naïve person someone who says she’s not trying to be condescending and starts to condescend.
She compassionate understanding.
Milly Taiden shows different facets of personality, character development. There’s always something to talk about great book great writer.

This book was so good that I was actually upset when it ended, for me, unexpectedly. It begins with an introduction to Dragon Cannon and his fated mate, Ryver. She is part of a medical to working near Uganda to help during a crisis. Cannon is sent to rescue her and it takes over a week to get to the extraction site. During this time they become friends, then lovers. They make it home to meet her Dad and get his blessing to marry. Just when the honeymoon is about to begin, the book ends and left me with a million questions. I pray that Milly has another book with lots of answers coming very soon. I look forward to this new Caged and Dangerous series. It is filled with love and intrigue and I really want aBook #2 released very soon.

Cannon had been locked up like an animal. We'll, maybe like he contained an animal. Locked up for expressing his shifter rights, he had nothing to look forward to except more of the same. Isolation, no shifting, and no option for release. Until the warden needed a favor- to rescue a doctor who was kidnapped in the jungle.....River was part of a humanitarian mission- when the rest of her party was killed and she was kidnapped. Her rescuer came in the form of dragon shifter Cannon. From the onset, his dragon just knew.....and Ryver? She felt it too. A lively, smexy shifter romance by Milly Taiden.

Ryver and Cannon
This was a quick steamy read. It was a little cheesy, had some plot holes, but if you just accept for the entertainment it is, it's a fun read. I liked both characters. I liked the plot. One thing that kept bugging me was the number of times they are ambushed after just discussing his heightened senses (intuition, awareness, smell, sight, strength etc.). I mean weapon to head close, not a field away. Looking forward to more books.
Fast burn, close proximity, steamy,.shifter romance with HEA told from dual POV. No cliffhanger, but there is a overall arc that will be ongoing with the missions.

This was a very enjoyable and entertaining story! It has great world building and is full of action and intrigue. Cannon and Ryver are fantastic characters and really have to go through a lot. Cannon is such a protective sweetheart and Ryver was a strong independent woman! It keeps you at the end of your seat waiting to see what happens next! I got so wrapped up in this one and did not want to stop. Cannon is a mystery at first but as the story goes we get to see the type of man or dragon he is. Ryver is a doctor and is working on helping others in Africa as a disease has hit the poor hard. But being a good person doesn’t stop those who kill and hurt from money from using her. It may take one special man/shifter to save her. The story is filled with nonstop action and danger. The romance builds as life and death can bring two together pretty fast.

Book 1 NEW series Caged and Dangerous by Milly Taiden
This is a new series by a fantastic paranormal romance writer she’s the Queen of this kind of genre and I would highly recommend it for anything to rise especially the PDA.
This book has a really nice spin to it it’s a bit different to the others in the series that I’ve read by Milly Taiden. The main character is imprisoned and his test to save a woman who happens to be his mate things get really hot and he is quickly and then there’s a really good spin at the end of it definitely would recommend absolutely love Milly Taiden

I enjoyed this book. It consumed my time. I had to read it 3 times it was so good. I love how the characters interact. The mystery and action are just as expected It is a book that I can read multiple times and I cannot wait to read more. Cannon kept me on my feet. It was not what I expected and that is what was great about the story. I would highly recommend this book to any reader as one that will keep you guessing.,

DNF - Quit qt 10%
The blurb was good, the cover excellent, the idea of the story had so much potential. But it all fell flat. The story was hard to get into, the FMC is not likable IMO. The jumping back & forth with Point of Views was a bit jarring & fast, to really get into the story. I needed more than was given to hook me into wanting to continue reading the story.
At my age (60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

On the Run
Cannon and Ryver are on the run from guerrilla forces in the wilds of Africa. It's great that he's finally found his mate. Not so great that he can't enjoy all the pleasure to be found with that knowledge. Dodging bullets, avoiding sinkholes and minimal sleep do not make for romance, as satisfying as their encounters are. A good start to this series but I think I will tap out. I really wanted Cannon to set the general on fire at the first opportunity. I can't read about her anymore, even if she is important to the series.

There is never ending danger to the story. Now, I understand why the Lady General says it was a job for a shifter, it was! But despite the danger, our protagonists were still able to form the bond between mates. And you know what, Cannon might have been torn between leaving and staying but his heart made him chose the right one and I liked him about it.
There is more to the chase and capture in the story and more will be revealed in the next series. Can't wait.

WOW! This story encompasses a exciting, danger field journey filled with intrigue! Romance shone throughout the story, and was strengthened through adversity, and the characters shared respect, and trust! I believe trials like this are what build stronger relationships in real life. Yes, it is hardcore and a bit darker than Milly's usual, but it is definitely romantic and a must read!

Rescuing a doctor being held hostage turns out to be more dangerous than expected. Each time they think they are safe, Cannon and Ryver find themselves under attack time and time again. Even in extreme danger, Cannan and Ryver are drawn to each other.
Cannon is rescuing Ryber as part of a deal made to get out of prison. Little did you know that he would find his mate. She impresses him with her caring nature and her bravery.
Definitely never a dull moment in this story!

Not My Favourite
I have read several books by this author and to date, this is my least favourite. I thought that Cannon being longer than the majority of her writings would provide a meaty in-depth story that would be scintillating. It fell short of the mark for me. At times I enjoy a good paranormal read. In my opinion Cannon was not one of Ms Taiden’s best. Had a hard time getting through this one, I was truly bored.

While the first 1/3 of this book was fast paced, the last 2/3's seemed to drag on. Never really had that "page turner" feeling you can get with most books, unless it was to flip through scenes that seemed to be endless.
The characters were fairly well developed, but I just couldn't connect with either of them.
I read this book via Kindle Unlimited, 50/50 on whether it was worth my time, glad I didn't spend any $$ on it.

Book one cannon is in shifter prison but is let out for a op for the warden (to save her daughter who was kidnapped, but she left that but out) when cannon rushed of to save her he finds out she is his mate, with a device to stop his wings coming out in his head he has to fight the best he can to save her. I did think it offq that the father was never around not even a phone call wouldn't be be worried?
