Benton Chaser is a shapeshifter who prefers to live on his own outside of the society of his Clan. They are Castoridaes, shapeshifters whose animal form is that of a beaver. Still without a mate, Benton spends time keeping company with the lonely wives of the trappers in the area. He is fascinated, obsessed even, with River. His favorite cove is on her land and he goes to her in beaver form often. He attempted to approach her once in his human form but was quickly chased off...
