As if falling for the ghosts of four murdered gangsters wasn't crazy enough, it turns out we've got a real live supervillain on our hands. One with mysterious powers that reach way farther than we could have imagined.
And that villain has torn my sister away from me.
I'll stop at nothing to bring her back and see my men get the vengeance they deserve. It's just a little hard to win a war when you're not really sure what kind of monster you're up against. Or how many you're up against, for that matter.
There's a whole new dimension to my own powers that I'm only just starting to uncover—one that could level the playing field. But what if tapping into it makes me just as much of a monster as the pricks we're up against?

The heroine:Lily - she was in a psych ward for seven years and only thought of protecting her sister. Now that she is out, she has gone through a bunch of new hell. From being bullied at college, to bullied right out of her new job. Her only thought was to reclaim the memories she lost and make sure her sister is safe. Her four guys will help with that.
The Heroes:Nox, Kai, Ruin, Jett - They were motorcycle gang members before they died, and as ghosts Lily was the only person that could hear or see them. When Lily got out of the psych ward, they murdered four guys and possessed their bodies, so now they are back. Nox - he is the leader of the gang and a dominant decision maker. He has the power to pack a supernatural punch. Kai - he is brilliant and does research on everything. He has supernatural mind power. Ruin - he is cuddly and vicious. He has the power over electricity. Jett - he is a man of few words, a broody grump and an artist. He has the power to change the design or color of things.
The Story: so much happened in the last book, as both lily and the gang set out to find out what happened in the past. Lily finally got her memories back, and though it helped her to make sure that she wasn’t a danger to her sister, she soon found out that something even darker is out there. The guys have also found a key to their pasts and who murdered them, though the ones at fault won’t be easy to overcome either.
So far I like how this series has been laid out. There has been a lot that happened in each of the first two books, but there is so much more ground to cover and the relationships between Lily and her guys have progressed. All of them want her and all of them are extremely protective of her and just want to make her life better. Though there are still relationship issues to work through. But I really love how they treat her.
I liked that they had all gotten much better at their supernatural abilities and even the ones that don’t seem to be that dangerous have a way of working out for the best and being valuable to the team. Though as the group finds out more about what is going on, I found them not always asking questions that I would ask in the same situation which could lead to them finding out more. I hate when that happens. I sit yelling at the characters for being so dumb. Like in horror movies when you yell at the characters to not go up the stairs.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Hollie Jackson and Joe Arden. I have listened to many books by each of these narrators and they are both great. Hollie is terrific at showing her emotions through her voice and Joe has a deep raspy voice which is sexy, and I love anything he narrates.
Initial thoughts (1/22/2022): This was super fun! To not spoil much is gonna be tough in my longer review. The Skullbreakers are finding out what happened to them and it of-course intersects with the Gauntts. I saw the Gauntt twist coming a mile away but it still was fun. Jett finally is coming out of his shell with Lily. I am so looking forward to the final show down in Deathly Delinquency. Not many series earn straight 4 stars with me so this has been a consistently good ride.
Final Review (2/4/22): This is book 3 in the series and I am still enjoying this alot. I tend to think about my ratings more closely after finishing a book and this happened here. I am not going to lower the Goodreads score but this one is closer to a 3.5 than a 4.
This book is spent trying to track down Marisol after the gut punch of a cliffhanger in Criminal Spirits. I had some words to say, cry and yell at the time in my review that you can check out for a refresher on my anger. Within the book there is also exploration into the death of the Skullbreakers which probably was my least favorite aspect of this series. I came here for ghosts not motorcycle gangs. Truthfully, that is where the points were lost. They go into even more head to heads with that gang that orchestrated the boys in the 90s… to no one’s surprise
We knew this book was gonna get dark. There is kidnapping, instatitutionalization of the non mentally ill and implied sexual abuse but I will still kinda shocked when But the Guants are an interesting set of villains.
I am so bad at writing reviews and not giving tons of spoilers so sorry about that. Overall, pretty good and made me want to experience the final even more. Eva Chase really writes in a way that has something for every fantasy romance lover in her series. I don’t think this will beat out her Their Dark Valkyrie series as my favorite series by her but it is super fun. The first book is Claimed by Gods. I need to reread the series because at the time I had kinda stopped star ratings so I don’t have a Goodreads rating or review. 2020 was a weird experience.
4.2 stars. Welp…I sort of saw that coming. But I’m still a bit confused, and totally not okay with the way things ended in this book, so I’m just gonna go ahead to the next now.
I need answers, and honestly I just want to know if the ending is gonna suck so I can get it over with.
I will say that I wish we got more time with the characters, just hanging out and building their connection. I could do with less fighting and action scenes honestly. But that’s just me.
Well that got a whole lot darker in a very sudden way. Lily and the guys are trying to find Marisol, but it seems that the Gauntts are always two steps ahead. They uncover more shocking details and cover-ups regarding the people of the town, and basically find out that everyone is a jerk and people are basically the worst. (It's a bit of a downer). There's lot of action, and there's probably a corpse problem by this point. It also ends on another giant plot twist and cliff-hanger combo, which I did expect but it still manages to catch me every time I read one of Eva Chase's books. They always grab you and suck you in for the next one.
Okay, so, things definitely picked up in Grave Misconduct. Which definitely made me happy, but I still have more questions than answers. I'm also happy that they sort of got a quick minute reunion before they faced more danger. It was short and sweet and now I'm on the edge of me seat wondering what's going to exactly happen in the next book.
Her and the guys are getting closer and closer to one another. I'm also enjoying their chemistry a lot more too. The only thing I need is for everyone to live and be safe. I'm honestly not prepared for any other outcome at the moment.
That being said, I just need to put my big girl panties on and dive into the next book. Hoping for answers and an HEA right now. Dreading the worst just in case.
This was a bit of a filler book in the series. There's some things going on, looking for the sister and the guys trying to get their revenge, but most of it could have been combined into either book two or book four I think. At least some interesting things happened at the end with the magic.
Damn it! I had actually hoped that the paperback of the fourth book would be available early, now I don't know for sure if I'll be able to read it next week. And after this book I really can't wait to discover how things are gonna end. I love Eva Chase as an author, but I mostly love how different her books and series and characters are. This is quite different from all the other series I read from her and I can't wait to discover the series I haven't read yet!
This book quite clearly took a turn to the darker side. The cliffhanger of the previous book already promised that much, but Eva Chase really delivers what she promised. In this book there was more violence, there were more fights and the stakes of the bigger battle were raised. And what I liked is that in this book all the storylines that seemed separate in the previous two books are coming together and are actually connected!
This book also adds way more supernatural elements. Of course, ghouls taking over the bodies of four guys and a girl with powers were quite supernatural already, but I had the feeling that in this book it was quite clear that the supernatural element was way bigger and that we are diving into something that's way bigger than we could imagine. I'm quite excited about where it will lead. We got quite a few answers, but I still have questions and I can't wait to figure out what's really going on!
And as if all the violence and the supernatural elements weren't exciting enough Chase also added some amazing background and emotional moments for the characters. One of the guys has been holding back in the previous books and I loved that we discovered in this book why. I also quite like the kind of relationship these people have. Of course, there's no way I can ethically agree with everything they do, but it's amazing to read about!
The big reveal on who the baddies were didn’t really shock me in the end, but what did was the stupidity of the MC’s. I’m so disappointed in their behaviors, one second their thinking how unsafe and stupid it’d be to jump into a certain situation hastily and then five seconds later it’s like that never happened and they throw themselves into a mess. While we finally know some info on the Gauntt’s and their history, little is known about their connection to magic and possible powers. Knowing this, I stupidly assumed a single one of them would do a bit more reconnaissance especially when one of the group is wounded, but nope they clearly like being in shootouts and life or death situations. I’m almost hoping the guys decide gang life is not for them after this and just move away and live happily ever after with their cool powers. Then again I’m also thinking there may be a much stronger connection to the marsh than we’ve seen thus far and perhaps staying close is required? The cliffhanger also has me angry but it all comes back to their jumping into fights blind. Having said all that and vented a bit I can’t deny I devoured this book and I did enjoy it. I am eager to jump into the next one right after posting this review lol. This Gauntt family needs to go. After I get some answers…… I have questions, then they can choke on some frogs or nasty marsh water 🤔🤔😡😡🤔🤔

OK, so there were some things I saw coming and some things that just made me go, huh...why. Either way, it has funny moments. For me, mainly the frogs 🐸 We see the skull crushers crushing more heads and Lilly getting more info on the Gnatts.
Yup, I feel like this could have been a two book series. But if it was, we would miss out on the frogs and our ghostly gangsters.
For some reason, there is not enough smut for the lack of story. Needs more smut is what my smutty mind is saying.
The dark triggers of child abuse come up, so prepare for that. Although never in detail, but reaction to remembering the abuse.
The ending, well now we know more about why the Gantts are so powerful.
✓ PNR ✓ Multiple pov's ✓ Slow burn ✓ Entertaining plot - 3.5 / 5 ✓ Mature language ✓ Fast paced ✓ Spice 🌶🌶 / 5 ✓ Insta love ✓ Touch her and you'll 💀 ✓ Found family ✓ Reverse harem ✓ Small town ✓ Ends in a cliffhanger ✓ Long chapters
Okay, so this one was more fun and fast-paced than the previous one. It delves deeper into the death of the Skullbreakers, which is a plus. They try to find out more about the gang that killed them years ago, and they fight those who killed them, only to find out that there is a shocking connection to all of this. This book is darker than the previous ones. I only wish the characters would hang out and build their connection. I can't wait to see what happens next, and I hope they have a good epilogue.
She killed me with the teasing! The more we learned about the Gaunts , ( Seriously. What the hell are they?!) and what in the world is going on with the water, the more questions I had! Ahhh. I was turning pages, and devouring this one. I was so here for the layers she stripped back from Jett. I was worried he was going to miss out on the loving he obviously needed and deserved. The action was non stop, and the ring of corruption just keeps spreading! We're racing toward the end as things kick up toward the end. I don't want to spoil this for readers so I'm going to keep it vague. This has been a unique bloody , sexy journey.
It kept me interested for the first two books, I just found this one underwhelming with no buildup within the plot. I will not deny I am typically a mood reader and that probably influenced the reader experience as well.
I just love Lily and her guys!! They are so much fun. Each book gives me a little laugh. Ok..so a bunch of questions you wanted answers to are answered.... but you just get more questions because there's something really wrong with this town. I read/listened to this book and the dual narrators are amazing
The story keeps you interested even after the third book, you see in this book a change in Lily and her quest for her sister who left at the end of the second book.
This book gives you angst, some spice and a bit of dislike for the enemy.
Lily and her guys have their hands full trying to find Marisol. They are also trying to get to the gang that murdered them 21 years ago and figure out what the Gaunts are doing to the children and adults.
***Same review posted for all 3/4 books I’ve read.
Lily, our h, was sent to a mental hospital seven years ago and has recently been released and deemed “normal enough” to rejoin society. She takes this opportunity to join college, get a job and her own place to prove to her parents that she really is sane and hopefully be able to see her sister again. Lily has no memory of what happened to her seven years ago and just wants to fade in the background of her school and hope no one there remembers either. Unfortunately that’s never then case, that’s why we have books. She is bullied not only by other students but the staff as well. I’m not sure why a college would allow this conducts, no matter the students past but all right. Well her four long forgotten imaginary friends, which are just ghosts she woke up when she was a child, wake again after missing her while she was in the hospital, and want to protect her from everything happening to her. I have questions about this, the main one being why they could follow her around college campus to see her struggling, but they never follow her home to her basement apt and not 7 years ago when she was taken away? Either way, their huge plot to save her results in killing and quickly jumping into the bodies of her four major tormentors. Weird right? Who wants to bang the guys who treated you like crap, esp your older professor? They should have taken over someone else and then taught those guys a lesson. As well with following her around campus to see who was mean and how they treated her, they never followed those guys around to learn anything about their life before taking them over. Kind of stupid…especially for used to be alive gangsters. We find out her horrible thing that Lily did was scare her parents with some swamp magic, of which the reason why, as you find out either end of this book or beginning of book 2, is that the villain also has swamp magic and sent her away and kept her locked up….with no clear reason why? She was a kid and you made her forget what she did anyway so why would it matter???
Idk, the series isn’t bad, it’s well written and the characters are hot, the spice could be way way more, but is what it is. My main issue is that some of the ideas don’t feel flushed out for me, and author has to go out of her way to make up weird reasons instead of maybe just not including said ideas. Lastly, I didn’t read past midway through book three, because honestly I don’t feel it needed to be four books long. There was a lot of pointless info, repeated conversations, generic spice, teen angst (everyone is of adult age minus Lily’s sister), and surprisingly limited interactions between main characters/love interest.
Overall? 3.8-4 Plot? 3 Characters? 3.5 Spice? 2.8 Triggers? Not that I can remember, but always check before reading anything!
Will maybe read something else by this author, but will do so with caution on any series that is more than a duet in length.

This book has received the lowest rating, and that's due to a meandering plot that didn't really need a third book devoted to it. If the author had found a different place to leave off in book 2, I feel like half of this could have gone to book 2 and the other to book 4, or even melded into book 2 entirely.
Personally, I enjoyed the character development in Kai and Jett, though Jett's inconsequential guilt subplot was a little exhausting. The biggest issue with the boys is, yet again, insane plot armor. I feel like, for what the boys do, they only get hurt when the author needs them to get hurt, and every other time they get out without a scratch. Fighting against so many gang members and security people with training and expertise is awesome, but when someone goes down from one single stray bullet from an insanely rare circumstance makes it feel so contrived. In terms of the story beats, they felt really repetitive in this book. Whereas in the previous books Lily furthers the story despite going to the same locations, this has the gang go to the same locations with nothing new happening for a long while between scenes. The Skeleton Corps plotline felt so flat and contrived as well, and... unnecessary, in a way. The boys didn't need revenge, and it again piled on way too many threats that didn't count until they did.
The end had me screaming in my car from both anticipation and frustrration. It was predictable, but still threw me for a loop. Somehow the author is perfect at being satisfying and aggravating by the end, giving enough information to feel satisfied but not giving it all away so I felt compelled to keep going. I hope book four can convince me, but the story is missing something I think is really important.
Lily needs to get hurt. Lily needs to feel utter despair. She needs to be at a low. She hasn't had her "all hope is lost" moment in the story, and it really needs that. There are small moments here and there of lost hope, but none really strike in the gut like it should. For what it's worth, this one was short and easily recapped. In all honesty, if I were to do it again I'd read a summary online of this part and read the other three as usual.
I always hope novels get better as the series go on, and sadly this one didn't for me.
Like the last book, the gang and Gauntt drama is good and takes most of the spotlight. Unfortunately the romance and bonding I'd like to have seen is still bare minimum. Lily still barely interacts romantically with any of her men outside of the love scenes so it feels like romantic bond between them is all weak to me. We get to see Lily develop a lot over the series, yet we barely see if from Skullbreakers. I also still feel that the rare love scenes we do get, there's lack a lot of passion, most likely because I feel the romantic bond between them all is weak. At this point I feel like the romance is a subpar subplot.
There is also a kind of plot hole or unanswered question in this story.
I doubt the last book will improve at all for me but I might as well finish this series. As in my last review of the second book, if you're into the mysteries of the Skullbreakers and Gauntts and a lot of murder with action, then this book may be for you. If you wanted something heavy with romance and a lot of character development, then this one may not be for you.
Grave Misconduct by Eva Chase turns the chaos up another level. The audiobook feels like a graphic novel blasting through your headphones, sound design, music, and emotion so vivid it’s like watching every shadow crawl across the page.
This book dives even deeper into the twisted mess surrounding Lily and her four ghostly lovers. The stakes are darker, the mystery tighter, and the lines between life, death, and corruption keep blurring. They’re still hunting the truth about ThriveWell, the experiments, and the people who destroyed their lives, but now the revelations cut far deeper than expected.
The smut definitely delivers, heating up between the chaos and heartbreak, giving moments of softness and obsession that keep you tethered even when the plot spirals. But yeah, the story is dense.
There’s so much happening with the “bad guys,” the secret projects, the trauma with the kids, it’s uncomfortable, heavy, and occasionally hard to track. It leaves your brain buzzing trying to piece everything together especially with the magical elements at play.
Still, the concept of Lily commanding both life and death, surrounded by the men who would literally haunt the world for her, stays addictive. Even when the story hurts to listen to, the audiobook’s performance and atmosphere make it impossible to look away.
One more book left… and it feels like everything’s about to explode.

Lily has fallen for the ghosts of four murdered gangsters, but that is the least of their problems as they are also coping with a real-life supervillain in the form of the local powerful man who has taken away her little sister Marisol through some kind of spell that needs they have to find her and break it. The problem is, it is hard to win a war when you are not entirely sure the kind of monsters you are fighting plus the number of them to start with. Lily is also starting to find a new dimension to her powers which may level the playing field - the question is does it make her as much of a monster as those they are up against?
There was a lot of action in this story as they faced more than their fair share of drama and danger. I loved the way that the four guys did everything that they could to support Lily while also trying to investigate the ending of their own lives back in history. I feel that Lily made some great progress on her abilities and what she could achieve with them and the guys also made progress although not on the same scale as Lily. There was a lot of trusting that was warranted as well as some double-crossing with dramatic results. It ends with a bit of a cliffhanger and so I really can't wait for the next book to come out to find out what happens next. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.
My review is written after listening to the audio version of this book.
This book picks up exactly where the previous book ended, Marisol has run away and Lily is now desperate to find her. The story moves at a good pace and as I've come to expect is full of mystery and magic. Lily discovers how to break the control the Gaunts seem to have over anybody bearing the strange birthmarks, but there are so many and not all on children.
The guys are all working to rebuild the Skullbreakers, finding new recruits and a new base for their club all while trying to discover who was responsible for their murders 21 years ago. Each of the guys discovers their magical power, and Lily discovers that she can influence more than water!
But the Gaunt's magic is very strong, their powers, it seems, have something to do with the marsh where Lily almost drowned and where the guys' bodies were dumped. Will Lily and the guys be able to defeat them? Will the Marsh help them?
The ending of this book left me shocked, and shouting No! Miss Chase, you better sort the situation out satisfactorily in the next book!
Once again Hollie Jackson and Joe Arden do an excellent job with the narration, they work well together and bring the characters to life.
Just so much happened here and I am not sure I understood everything.
First of all the Gauntts are some serious shit family. Tbh not even sure real family. I know from the start that these bitches weren’t as young as they seemed. And the fact that they love molesting kids. Disgusting. Such fuckers.
So many sex scenes were here as well. I mean the first one with three of them was already a bit much. I didn’t even know this would work. Kai sat and Lily was between his legs sucking him off while Ruin played with her nipples and Nox put his dick in her. Yeah I mean you do you girl. For me it is kinda weird to be in love with four guys. I would think it is ok IF the guys were in love as well. You understand? Like all five of them are in love equally. Not just every guy being in love with her. That is weird.
Then the sex scene witch actually disturbed me more then the first was when Jett and Lily had sex. You can have kinks ok? But THAT is your kink? Lying in bed and fucking while smearing paint over your lovers body? How would you even think about something like that in the first place? Painting a fucking picture while fucking. I mean that is probably not even hygienic. Oh and while these two were in bed Nox was standing in the doorway stroking himself watching them. He literally got off watching others be naked covered with paint. What is going on here?!
Back to the less disturbing good news. The guys finally killed their murderers and got their revenge. And even better Lily got a new power. AGAIN. Bro what can this girl not do? Blood manipulation is kinda cool though. And they got Marisol in the end back. Hurray. And Nolan Gauntt possessed his grandson. Everything totally normal.
Nox cant be dead. I love him. I mean not like Lily. He is a fucking psychopath and if I would know him in real life I would stay FAAAR away from him and the others. But I need the next book to know he is ok. He has to be ok.
