Damn, the man has the body of a god. Like a real-life statue of David or something. It’s unfair that someone so annoying looks so delicious.
Keane and I have been enemies since childhood. He thinks I’m a Goody Two-shoes and I think he’s an arrogant a$$hole.
Years later nothing’s changed except the fact that we’re cohabitating in the same apartment along with his sister, who’s also my best friend.
Even though I’m fighting like hell to keep the city from tearing down the building he wants to replace with a new restaurant, we somehow find ourselves doing the horizontal mambo.
Maybe it’s the magic of the letter I found in our ancient apartment that predicted I’m going to meet the man of my dreams. Or maybe it’s just hormones. But just when I start to buy into us as a couple, someone from his past shows up with a shocking secret that Keane’s adamant is untrue.
Now I’m questioning if I can really trust the guy who told the entire football team in high school that I still slept with a stuffie at fifteen years old. In my experience, the answer is no.
Three's A Crowd is a best friend's older brother rom-com full of laughs and sexy times. No cheating. HEA.
Plot Summary : Fiona and Keane have been enemies since childhood. Spreading rumours about each other and making each other's lives hell has been the one job they both do perfectly.
So now years later, they find themselves together, staying in an apartment and trying not to kill each other. It doesn't take them long to realize that hate is not the only thing between them. And now things are even more complicated.
Overall Opinion : This one was a quirky one time read for me. It was full of sass and humor and I loved the main characters! The ending was good and it was a soothing romance for me.
If you are in the mood for a contemporary romance with humor but no major plot twists and somewhat of a plain storyline, then pick this one!
I was hoping this book was as good as the first in this series, but it wasn't. Actually Fiona got on my nerves to the point of hoping Keane would dump her! Hopefully Marlowe's story is better.
Is that love I smell in the air or is it just the amazing cooking of my arch nemesis and new roomie !! We find ourselves back in apartment 3B for a new couple to entertain us with their enemies to lovers tale! Fiona and Keane have been thrown together over the years in one way or another. That is just the way it is when she is your sister's bestfriend and roommate. Fiona has always found Keane irritating, opinionated and arrogant so what happens when he is now her roommate. Sure he is an exceptional cook, has all of a sudden found a interest in preparing her vegan meals and looks really cute in his boxers. She will keep repeating the mantra ..I do not find him attractive..lol. Keane finds himself in need of temporary housing and his sister Marlowe and her best friend Fiona are down a roomie ... sounds like the perfect plan. Yes Fiona has always been pretty, caring, thoughtful and easy to rile up but when did he start finding her irresistible ?? This couple has wonderfully funny witty banter that soon becomes laced with sexual innuendoes. It soon becomes way to obvious that they have undeniable chemistry and a pull towards one another. Now how do they date while living together and not letting Marlowe in on their secret before they have it all figured out! The lines between love and hate are about to get very blurry ! ~~Michele McMullen~~
Three's A Crowd is book 2 in the Love in Apartment 3B series of standalones. This is a cute, best friend's older brother, enemies to lovers, close proximity romance.
Keane is an interesting character. Constantly judged based on his teenage antics, there is a lot more to adult Keane than most people (his parents and Fiona) give him credit for.
Fiona has hated Keane since HS (and maybe even before that). Being forced to share living space with him pushes her to see him in a new light.
I liked how easy it was for these two to transition from enemies to friends to lovers, and I especially loved how Keane jumped in with both feet and his whole heart.
What I didn't like...
The older I get, the less patience I have for unnecessary drama and conflict in romcoms. I was enjoying this one up until a very specific conflict that didn't need to exist. At all. There were so many other avenues of conflict this author could have chosen, which would have further enhanced the story and character growth.
That being said, I'll probably read Book 3, as I'm pretty invested in Marlowe's HEA.
Three's A Crowd, standalone book two in the Love in Apartment 3B series by Everly Ashton, is out today, 3/1! You don't have to read book one, Hit or Miss, first to appreciate this one, but you know I'm one who usually needs to read these things in order, so I'm just letting you know.
I was eagerly anticipating this one after reading Hit or Miss because I love me a good enemies to lovers story, and the animosity between Keane and Fiona that was teased in Hit or Miss let me know that they were going to be combustible. And living under the same roof? I was ready for fireworks (Swipe ➡️ for full synopsis).
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. If you're new here, enemies to lovers and forced proximity are two of my top 3 tropes, so I was set-up to have a good time going into this story. What really drew me in and kept me there was the depth to Keane's character. I think he was really good for Fiona, because he made her face some hard truths about herself and the choices she'd made in life. At the same time, Fiona was really good for him too, Keane really needed to have someone dedicated in his corner, and Fi was great at filling that role. So beyond a steamy, good time, I love when I see a couple supporting each other and making each other better.
I give this one ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and a moderate steam rating.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I couldn't stand Fiona. She was just too over the top with her halo of goodness surrounding her. I think Keane deserved better. Fiona didn't change but somehow the author made Keane change to fit Fiona's view. I didn't like that. Keane continuously got the short end of the stick and the drama at the end was too much. How much more the author dump on the poor guy?! Fiona ruined the book. Also, I'm all for historical landmarks but come on, the building was in a state of terrible disrepair! They hadn't even seen what the final building would look like, just wanted to protest it because of course how else would people know how virtuous she was?? Only thing missing was her saving a kitten from drowning...
I was so excited to read Fiona and Keane's story. It did not disappoint and it was a good quick read. You know I love a good enemies-to-lovers romance, and this is it. I liked the push and pull between these two and their banter is fun and witty. Then there's their hot chemistry. I don't think you can go wrong with this one!
Sweet and fun enemies to lover romance. Fiona is Keane’s sister’s best friend. They have never gotten along. Now they are roommates. Much to their surprise, they are attracted to each other. There is not a straight forward path to HEA but each character learns to appreciate the other as they spend more time together. Fun, witty , sweet with a touch of steam.
To be honest, I found Fiona rather self-absorbed, in her quest to be a vegan sel-sacrificing martyr. By the end of the book, I found her more palatable, but felt Keane was the 'giver' in their relationship. I would have liked to see something happen with regard to his relationship with his parents, though.
I really enjoyed this story! I felt like all the parts with Annabelle could have been left out and it would have been even better. I hated her! I loved Fiona and Keane together and the ending was the best! I cant wait to see what3B has in store for Marlowe! ♥♥
We met Fiona and Keane in the first book of this series and I was so excited to get their story. It did not disappoint! I loved the enemies to lovers/friend’s brother aspect. The banter was fun, the sexy times were hot, and I liked Keane way more than I thought I would. The ending was a bit rushed but overall it was a good story!
This was pretty steamy and the banter between Fiona and Keane was great. I also loved the mix of the best friend's brother/hate to love/forced proximity tropes.
I wouldn't describe this as a slow burn, but their relationship felt really well paced because they admit their attraction to each other relatively early on, but then take a while to actually "officially" get together. I also really liked that they tried to keep it a secret from Marlowe (Keane's sister, Fiona's BFF, and their roommate).
For me there were a few too many conflicts packed in to the end of the book. I really liked the focus on their relationships with their parents (though I felt like Keane's whole situation with his parents never believing in him was left unfinished). I also liked the conflict about Keane's job and the building, as it fit well with their character motivations (Keane's dream of opening a restaurant and Fiona's dedication community issues, etc.).
However their was one particular trope near the end that felt super unnecessary because:
1) There was already enough going on with the other conflicts (mentioned above) to keep things interesting. 2) Fiona pretty much immediately says she doesn't care and will support Keane anyway, which left me like, what was the point in that?
Overall there was a lot to like about this, and I found it a really quick and easy read. I just wish that conflict at the end had been removed because it was super unnecessary. Excited to read the last book in the series soon!
I've been looking to this story since meeting Fiona in Jemma's story, and wanting to find out why there was so much animosity on her side for Keane. I already enjoy a good enemies-to-lovers story, and when you mix it with forced proximity, I'm here for all the fireworks that's bound to ensue. After meeting Fiona in the first book, she seemed like the type who's all sunshine and rainbows and be kind to one another, and for the most part she is, unless Keane is involved and then she seems become the polar opposite of her sunshiny personality.
On the surface, Keane seems like he could be uber-shallow and not really care about other people's feelings, but he's really got a good heart and is pretty insightful and focused on things that matter and are important to him. I love how they brought a balance for the other, and had them accepting some truths they didn't want to face. The only thing I would have left out is the subplot involving one of Keane's co-workers; there was already enough to deal with between the changing views and feelings of both Keane and Fiona, no need to add that extra bit in. Overall, another story I enjoyed and I'm looking forward to Marlowe's turn in the hot seat.
Readers will find their week off to a delightful start the moment they pick up this charming and carefree frenemies to lovers romance. Set in the world of the Love In Apartment 3B series, readers will find this a romance full of laughs and steamy interactions courtesy of an appealing couple whose combustible connection has you cheering them on every step of the way.
Fiona and Keane have known each other for years and have always had an antagonistic relationship, a relationship that hinted at even more (unspoken) intense feelings between them. When Fiona and her friend Marlowe are in need of a roommate though those intense feelings bubble to the surface as it's Marlowe's brother Keane who moves in. From that moment on things become bumpy as unexpected attraction and life throws all sorts of twists and turns at Keane and Fiona on their journey to HEA. Theirs is an entertaining journey, a journey that showed them to be a formidable pairing, and I loved watching everything unfold between them. On the surface they seem like opposites. Fiona's always been the do-gooder of their group, always helping others and never expecting anything in exchange. Keane's a bit more self-involved but charming with his fun and flirty demeanor. What starts out as casual between them, an itch they wanted to scratch, soon becomes something more meaningful. Life throws a lot at them throughout the story, but they manage to always find a way to make their new relationship work. Through it all I found the banter witty, intimate moments balanced out with laugh out loud humor and interactions that were both sweet and sensual. Along with its appealing main couple were glimpses of the rest of their friend group which made for an even more relatable story. Marlowe especially was given a chance to shine and by the turn of the final page I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where things go for her next. On a whole this was a decadently delicious romance that warmed my heart while putting a smile on my face and I recommend it to all those looking for a fast, fun, and flirty frenemies to lovers romance!
Three’s a Crowd brings us back to Apartment 3B to hang out with Fiona, Marlowe, and Jemma, but you don’t need to read Jemma’s story, Hit or Miss, to know what’s going on in this one (although I do recommend it. It’s hilarious). This time, we’re hanging out with Fiona, who just found out that Marlowe’s brother, Keane, would be moving in with them temporarily. Like Jemma in Hit or Miss, Fiona unearths a hidden letter predicting love in her future and she’s surprised when her first thought goes to her new roommate.
Fiona hates Keane.
Fiona is not thrilled.
Fiona should not be thinking about Keane in this way.
But Fiona is nothing if not accommodating, and she of course says “yes” when Marlowe asks if it’s okay that Keane is staying with them. All Fiona wants is to make the world a better place, and that extends to her life at home, even when she wants to throttle the man instead of play nice.
What Fiona doesn’t know is that Keane has a lot of layers, and she’s only seen his cockiest outermost layer. Fiona doesn’t know that maybe Keane has had feelings for her for as long as they’ve known each other. Fiona doesn’t realize that maybe Keane acts the way he does to protect himself and even her.
Three’s a Crowd is a barrel of laughs, full of dirty talk (Keane gets an A+), and is just a whole lot of fun. Keane and Fiona are quite a pairing, and it was a joy to see them slowly uncover those deeper layers and feelings while also learning how to navigate a somewhat forbidden relationship (he is Marlowe’s brother, after all!)
This book was easy breezy, it was steamy, and it was sweet. I do think the ending was a little rushed and that some of the additional drama was unnecessary, but none of that really did any harm to the overall story which was pretty solid. I had a great time visiting with the ladies of Apt 3B again, and can’t wait to see what Everly Ashton has up her sleeve for our sweet Marlowe.
✨ Three's a Crowd is Book 2 in Love in Apartment 3B. It's an enemies to lovers' story and Keane is Fiona's best friend's brother.
This is a quick read but a really good one. I wanted to read their story ever since I met them in Book 1 and I'm so happy I had the chance to.
Fiona and Keane are opposites in some ways but they both deserve the world. What I love the most about them is that they both have their own opinions, and they don't want to change to be something else for each other, they both know in a good relationship the only way you might change is to be better, not because someone doesn’t like how you think.
I highly recommend this book and of course book 1 one, I think it can be read as a stand alone tho, but if you want to understand some references, it might be good if you start from the beginning. Besides, Jemma and Ollie are worth it.
I cannot wait to read Book 3, I'm invested now!
Three's A Crowd is the second book in this apartment 3B series by Everly Ashton, and I totally shipped Keane and Fiona from the first book! Two very different people who mask their attraction with snarky comments and avoidance of each other. Goody two shoes Fiona is vegan, works at a homeless shelter, advocates for the less fortunate, and writes letters to her causes/charities each Sunday. Keane is Marlowe's older brother, who is one of Fiona's best friends. When his apartment building catches fire, Keane moves in with Marlowe for a short time while his place gets fixed, though that means that Keane and Fiona are going to be sniping at each other more often. I think Keane's such a fun character, though he certainly has a chip on his shoulders. A reckless teenaged lifestyle resulted in his parents constantly thinking of him as a screw up and not trusting him to take care of himself. They patronize him and don't trust him, though he's doing everything possible to change that misconception, especially in trying to start his own business. I love how Keane is just an easy going guy: he's fun and funny, he's kind and thoughtful, and he really cares for Fiona. They face a ton of obstacles on their way to HEA, everything from misunderstanding, miscommunication, and hard conversations where they both have to admit to their shortcomings. Though Fiona seems to have compassion for everyone in the world, she's hard on herself and those closest to her though she doesn't always admit this. Having Keane in her life helps her to look at her past and reflect on how she can improve and live life for herself and not for other people. For his part, Keane totally benefits from having Fiona in his life, because she's someone who supports him and really believes in dreams. I would've loved a stronger resolution with Keane and his parents, less Annabelle drama, and more Fiona and Keane dates.
This is my first read by Everly Ashton, who is a newish author. Three’s A Crowd is part of the inter connected stand-alone series Love in Apartment #3B. I have not read Hit or Miss yet, the first book in the series. Everly does a fantastic job filling in any gaps with the backstory.
I love a best friend’s older brother troupe. Throw in enemies to lovers and a romcom. And, a sexy, dirty talking, melt your panties and having you fanning yourself H- yes please! So, many of my boxes checked. This was a sweet, funny, and throughly satisfying read.
Fiona runs an outreach program for the homeless. Adding to the good in the world is her mission. And, one she takes very seriously.
Keane, is Fiona’s best friend and roommate, Marlowe’s, brother. In high school, Keane started an enemy dynamic that has continued into adulthood between them.
After a fire in his apartment building, Keane needs a place to stay. And, forced togetherness has both of them on edge- with major LUST. A game of Truth or Dare (you will not look at pickles the same 😉) reveals truths about their on going feud and has Fiona looking at Keane in a different light.
As they give into their feelings and really begin to get to know one another, Keane keeps surprising Fiona with just how thoughtful he is.
But, their world’s collide when the building for a new restaurant Keane is partnering with his boss on becomes Fiona’s latest pet project to save. Fiona must face that her past and her need to right her father’s wrongs is leaving her no room in her life for her own happiness.
These two, their banter, their chemistry, gah, is the BEST. I love laughing out loud when I’m reading. I love swooning and giggling when the H is the absolute best book boyfriend. And, I love feeling the connection between the characters. This book will have your attention and your heart.
I loved Fiona and Keane's story. Fiona is one of the three beginning best friends and roommates to live together in this apartment. When Marlowe's brother Keane's apartment got smoke damage from a neighbor apartments fire he moved into the extra bedroom their other friend just vacated. Sadly, Fiona had no idea that Keane was even moving in. After all, these two have been taking verbal swings at each other for years.
At first Fiona thought things would be OK since Keane worked as a head chef at night for a local French restaurant and she worked days at a local shelter. So they would rarely see each. Now she needs to switch shifts with her boss to help her out due to a family issue. How is she going to be able to deal with Keane now?
Trying to keep her mind off Keane, Fiona decides to revamp her bedroom by removing all of the old wallpaper and painting the walls. While she is able to remove most of the wallpaper, the ceiling in their apartment is higher because it's an old building. Keane wakes up due to her scraping on the wall and as Fiona begins to fall from the ladder, Keane catches her. They both are surprised by their nearness and move apart. Fiona continues removing wallpaper and finds an old letter written many years ago under the wallpaper. When she reads it the letter mentions finding love that's close and actually falling.
Now Fiona is wondering if it is referring to her and Keane as she literally fell in his arms. But they hate each other, don't they?
Love, love, love this story. So much going on with Keane and his opportunity to run his own restaurant and Fiona trying to help other homeless people in the city. The sexual tension was off the charts, and the heat kept coming. So ready for more!! Enjoy
I was so excited to start the next book in this series and I loved Fiona and Keane’s story. “Three’s a Crowd” is a flirty, swoony and heartfelt frenemies to lovers best friend’s brother romance that was a great addition to the series.
Keane and Fiona have not been friends for as long as she can remember. Keane had always pushed her buttons and given her a nickname she absolutely hated. But when his apartment catches on fire, he moves in with Fiona and his sister, Marlowe. The two would normally be able to stay out of each other’s way with Keane being a chef who works at night. But when Fiona changes her schedule to work nights at the homeless shelter, they are always around each other. And as they end up spending time together, it’s clear that all the teasing throughout the years was an attraction between them.
I loved Keane from the first book and was excited that he was in the next book. Keane is a chef and his passion for his career. He’s also a great brother to Marlowe and they have a great relationship. Fiona is a great woman who wants to help everyone that she can. With her working at the homeless shelter and volunteering for causes she wants to help. The two had great banter and I loved when they were pushing each other’s buttons. I could tell there was more there and I couldn’t wait for them to give into those feelings. Despite the teasing for all those years, the two connected on an emotional level. Keane’s relationship with his parents is strained, they’re always waiting for him to mess up like he did when he was a teenager, and Fiona was there for him after a tense visit with them. They were so cute together and I can’t wait to start Marlowe’s book next.
The push and pull dynamic of two people who are sworn enemies is always exciting to watch unravel. Fiona and Keane seem like the most unlikely pair especially when he's forced to become a roommate. Keane is the older brother of Marlowe who is Fiona's best friend from forever ago. These two have know each other a long time and Keane has always been there for all of her most embarrassing moments. And to her seems to capitalize on every single one. I adore Fiona and her desire to make the world a better place. Her causes are many and her letter writing seems endless. She is loyal to her friends and the family she knows she can depend on. Her down side is how protective she is of those causes. Sometimes her view doesn't allow any other opinion. Until the well being of the one she truly loves is in conflict of those opinions. Keane is a simple kind of guy. He wants to succeed to prove to himself and his parents that he is more than. Things keep getting thrown in his way and he overcomes them one at a time like a responsible adult. What his parents fail to see is how he has grown. What I loved about this relationship is how they get to know each other. They are kind of thrown together and must get along for both of the own sanity. Because of this, they are more open to listening to each other. Not only are they attracted to each other physically but to Keane's surprise, they are attracted emotionally. Fiona helps him with his barriers and he helps her with hers. The outcome may not be what either expected but a baby and a restaurant may be in their future.
This was an awesome read. Its book 2 in the series and it easily can stand alone, though I did read the first book. I actually loved this story more than I did the first. Its a wonderful story about brothers best friend, enemies to lovers and roomies finding love.
In the first book Gemma and Ollie found love. Gemma lived with her best friends since childhood, Fiona and Marlowe. Marlowe had a brother, Keane who Fiona hated. In this story Gemma has moved out and Keane's apartment has been burned down and so he takes Gemma's room.
Keane and Fiona hate each other and are always making snarky comments to each other. Until he moves in and he tries to be nicer to her and well it works. They both start seeing each other in a new way and I loved their story.
These two are fun characters and really good people but they are all grown up and they have to start seeing each other and let go of their images of each other in the past. I loved how they found each other but also career wise they are absolutely there for each other.
This was an awesome story and I loved every second of it.
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I figured something would happen with Keane and Fiona since the first book. I was excited to read their story and to see how they got over hating each other. The chemistry between these two is super intense and I’m surprised Marlowe was okay with sharing an apartment with them! Keane was a head chef for a fancy restaurant and his boss approached him about opening another one. Fiona on the other hand was trying to save the building from being torn down and preserving it. Also Keane had to move in with the girls because his apartment building caught fire one night. I didn’t expect so many twists and turns throughout this story and one of them I thought was a little unnecessary. I wasn’t exactly sure what the point of that one was besides to see how the characters would handle it. These two got over some of the worst things that could tear a couple apart and came out better even when Keane had to figure out what to do for a job/career. These characters are enjoyable though and I love the chemistry and the friendships these girls have with each other and the men they fall in love with. I’m excited to read about Marlowe and her situation! Also enjoyed the fact that this story has a bonus scene at the end.
Enemies to Lovers/ Best Friend’s Brother/ Romantic Comedy This is the second book by this author under this pen name. It is a standalone within an interconnected series and is written in first person from a dual POV. Keane starts out seeming like kind of a jerk. But as Fiona interacts more with him and they both attempt to be peaceful; it becomes apparent that he is actually a soft heart. His teasing and antics are in many ways a defense mechanism. Fiona has her own issues that she valiantly tries not to deal with. Ultimately, unresolved issues keep coming up until they are dealt with. I loved the growth of the characters through the story. I love that their peace becomes a friendship that becomes a love. I love that they both learn to face fears, take risks, and rely on each other. There is a lot of passion, some humor, and a sentimental HEA. I enjoyed this book and I recommend it. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.
If ever there was a vegan that you didn't mind loving it would be Fiona, she really is a selfless person. Maybe too selfless. Giving her time, energy and resources to the point that there is nothing left for her loved ones or herself. Now we all have baggage but it really shouldn't shape us that way should it? Maybe a little love is the answer and what better way to find it than a love letter a pay it forward that falls out of the wallpaper and fates you fall in love with your best friend's brother? There to catch you when you fall...(off the ladder) quite literally. New beginnings for both Keane and Fiona seem to be written in the stars. A restaurant venture and opportunity for Keane and a fresh start with Fiona's dad. Of course there will be misadventures as well but we learn from the lessons provided and love is the ultimate privilege. Not everyone is blessed with that happy ending so these two end up jumping at the opportunity to open their hearts and wrap their love around one another.
Cute rom-com! Once again, a secret letter buried many years ago in apartment 3B will play a roll in the life of the person who finds it.
Fiona and roommate Marlowe are trying to adjust to their other roommate Jemma moving out now that she’s engaged, but Fiona is stunned to find that the one person she hates most in the world is their new roommate. When Marlowe’s brother’s apartment caught fire he had to suddenly relocate and it only made sense, even though Marlowe knows the two have never gotten along.
Keane is happy to have a temporary place to live while his apartment is being repaired and his obnoxious comments to Fiona might just make life more interesting. Especially since he has always had a soft spot for her. He just doesn’t know what he ever did to cause the rift between them.
When Keane has the opportunity of a life time it seems Fiona’s desire to save the world could destroy his chance at the future he has always dreamed of, as well as the fledgling love developing between them.
"Three's A Crowd" by Everly Ashton was a super cute enemies-to-lovers romance between homeless shelter manager Fiona and her best friend's older brother Keane. The fast-paced story kept me turning the pages quickly thanks to several unexpected twists and turns, and I loved Fiona and Keane's witty banter. They had bickered and teased each other for years, but beneath the surface animosity was a crush that both were afraid to act on because of Fiona's friendship with Keane's sister Marlowe. When the three of them were forced to live together following a fire at Keane's apartment, their true feelings came to light, but they each needed to work through some baggage from their pasts before they could be together.
I recommend this sweet, amusing story for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy and look forward to the next book in the series, which will feature Keane's sister Marlowe.

Three's A Crowd was good it's book two in the live in apartment 3B series it can be read as a standalone but better enjoyed if you read book one first . This is an enemies to lovers romance , best friends bother , and known one another almost their whole life . Even in the first book as much a you read while the couple said mean things to one another there was a big spark and this book just made that spark start a fire . The more I got to know more about the characters the more I fell for them even though they have known one another a long time they really didn't know them , I liked how they started to get to know one another and wow when they played truth or dare just wow panty melting people . I can't wait to read the next book in the series I really want her to get a happy ending she is a true romantic and deserves the best in the past two books she was the cheerleader for both the couples . Hero = 4 heroine = 4 stars = 4 steam = 4 side characters = 4
