What do you get when you mix an Ice Queen with a woman whose heart has been bruised and broken by the loss of her wife and a child that could charm the birds from the trees? Add a sprinkle of Christmas magic and you're ready for this feel-good romance. Melody is in a world not of her own choosing as an owner of her father’s well established magazine. Working more than she should she is going through her days as best as she can. Her life is changed dramatically when she comes face to face with Noelle, a free spirited, inquisitive child who barges into her life and starts to make Melody think. Add to the mix her beautiful mother Hannah, and sparks begin to ignite in ways that Melody never imagined. Hannah is a single mother having lost the love of her life to illness. Noelle has been her sun, moon and stars on the days she just didn’t want to go on. Meeting Melody Carmichael opens a chain reaction of events and emotions for both women…
Had all the right ingredients to be wonderful but fell flat...
This should have been a fantastic book because the storyline had so much potential, however, it read like someone was reading a recount of someone's life. I guess this is what you call written in third person but whatever it is I did not like it. It was hard to even tell who was speaking part of the time. It was cheesy and way over the top but since it is a holiday book that was to be expected I guess. I enjoy hokey hallmark movies but this book was borderline ridiculous at times. Wrong words used at times - they were talking about sequins and book had sequence. Wrong word tenses at times. I have read much but since the story idea tried so hard to overcome the other issues I gave it 3 stars. Will I buy another book from this author - probably not due to the third person style but it did make me smile a few times so no regrets.
If you want a feel good book, then this is the one for you. Melody is an ice queen, but her father made her that way. Hannah is a single mother, missing her wife who passed away 2 years ago. She is raising Noelle, who reminds her so much of her wife, Emory. Hannah meets Melody at work, since Melody is the head of the company and magazine Hannah works for. She had to bring Noelle to work, and she got away from her mom and ended up in Melodys' office. That is how they meet, the rest of the story you need to read. You won't be disappointed!
The story brought out the Christmas spirit and i loved Noelle. She gave the story the edge it needed that wanted to keep reading to the end. Great story and worth reading.
I love this story the characters I have not read anything from this author but I'm glad I read this one. It pinpointed on so many topics That I couldn't put it down already in 1 weekend I wish there was a second book that would be fantastic.
I read this awhile ago but I didn’t see my review. So I reread it again. I loved it now as much as before. There is so much goodness and sweetness that combats the past that Hannah and Melody both have gone through. Hannah losing the love of her life and Melody losing her true self to her fathers hate. And at the heart is a sweet, happy and caring little girl that pulls Melody into Hannah’s life. What both have lost or refused to face is brought to light and now have “special” people pulling them together to face their fears. The adventure these two women are taking on by the hands of a six year old is humorous and heartwarming. Glad I read it again! Charlie Connell has fast become a favorite author of mine and I am enjoying going through her previous written books.
