About the author

Mariko Tamaki is a Toronto writer, playwright, activist and performer. She works and performs with fat activists Pretty Porky and Pissed Off and the theatre troupe TOA, whose recent play, A vs. B, was staged at the 2004 Rhubarb Festival at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. Her well-received novel, Cover Me (McGilligan Books) was followed by a short fiction collection, True Lies: The Book of Bad Advice (Women's Press). Mariko's third book, FAKE ID, is due out in spring 2005.

Mariko Tamaki has performed her work across Canada and through the States, recently appearing at the Calgary Folkfest 2004, Vancouver Writer's Festival 2003, Spatial III, and the Perpetual Motion/Girls Bite Back Tour, which circled though Ottawa, Montreal, Brooklyn and Chicago. She has appeared widely on radio and television including First Person Singular on CBC radio and Imprint on TVO. Mariko Tamaki is currently attending York University working a master's degree in women's studies.

Maybe not as hilarious as Spider-Man & Venom: Double Trouble, previous installment in these entertaining Marvel Kids series from same author and artist, but this was still a cute and funny bedtime reading with my 7 years old daughter and we are probably going to read it again and again in days to came.

In a word: fantastic! This was a fun story aimed at younger readers but absolutely worth it for any age. This graphic novel features a much younger Thor and Loki, with lots of mischief but no malice. The artwork perfectly suits the tone, with the cover art being carried through inside as well. (I have Gurihiru figures of the brothers, adorable!)

Loki is prone to daring Thor into misadventure and Thor is prone to accept - landing both in trouble. After stealing a magic horn from Odin's vault, Thor hands it to Loki who promptly blows it, summoning... the Midgard Serpent's little sister?! They cause quite a mess, but Loki lifted something else in the vault that will transport them somewhere unexpected..

Not only is this light-hearted, it's extremely funny. I really hope we get more adventures!!

Lighthearted romp. Not much motivation for any characters other than Thor's gonna Thor, Loki's gonna Loki, and Dad's gonna yell when he sees the mess Thor and Loki have made—but that's fine.

This was actually so much fun that I'm a bit sad there aren't more volumes. I'd love to read more Thor and Loki being ridiculously funny and wreaking havoc all over Asgard and beyond just for the hell of it. Loki is basically an enabler to a very willing Thor, the enablee (?) which makes for more than a few misadventures and things get even more interesting when they get thrown to a place where they come across their doubles. Despite being middle grade, it's hilarious and works for all ages so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a lighthearted read.

The art isn't really my thing but it's completely suited to the story what with it being a middle grade comic about sibling shenanigans.

Such a fun story to read! Although it can be considered that the aim of this graphic novel is for younger people, I believe it can be enjoyed by everyone!
It's a really fun and lighthearted story and I loved the narrator and his sarcastic notes, I laughed quite a few times with his commentary! I feel like this could be a really good introduction to Thor and Loki and their overall dynamic and also loved the fact that Lady Thor and Lady Loki had an appearance as well!
Lastly, the art style in this graphic novel is amazing and it completely suits my taste (and that also made me read it faster XD).

Thor & Loki: Double Trouble was an incredibly fun and light-hearted graphic novel. While it is aimed at younger readers, it still makes for a fantastic story for older readers too. The narrative was humorous and entertaining, told through fun and playful artwork that was well suited to the story. The rivalry between the two brothers was at the heart of this and I loved the amusing depiction of their competitive relationship. Thor & Loki: Double Trouble was a genuinely wonderful read that I would definitely recommend.

This was such a fun little series. It's basically Norse mythology summarized: Loki causes trouble and has to work with Thor to clean up the resulting mess. The meeting with AU female Thor and Loki brought in even more chaotic goodness, and the sarcastic narrator kept me chuckling along the way.

Fun and funny. This is middle grade, and it's set in an ambiguous continuity that could be either before the events of the Thor movie or centuries before Thor's first comic book appearances. It works just as well either way. The relationship between Thor and Loki at this point is absolutely brothers who annoy each other but kind of like it that way? Which absolutely works for me, especially in a middle grade context. The four issues collected in this book are basically them getting into shenanigans because of Loki and getting out of them because they work together, sort of. Really a fun read, and will probably go over well with the target audience who like either Thor or Loki from the movies.

Super cute!! I am addicted to this art style so much I really want to get prints of Gurihiru's beautiful and impressionable panels so I can put them on my wall. This was a really adorable and lighthearted adventure of Loki getting Thor in trouble and having to work together to get back home. Love it, love it, love it!

Contrary to what the hit film Thor: Ragnarok might have you believe, Thor is a rarely a comedy. Sure there are jokes, and amusing bits, but it's rare for this corner of the Marvel universe to be so delightfully fun and goofy. Every page is full of silly reactions, dumb jokes, and fantasy magic that make Double Trouble a hilarious adventure featuring my two favourite Marvel characters.

Well this was adorable. The story is super inconsequential, a bit of a non-plot, but sometimes you just need a fun farcical romp. I had fun and that's really all this story is trying to accomplish! Cute art style, too.

Very fun book, lots of humor, and doesn't take itself too seriously (the plot is not deep in the slightest). Same sibling dynamic you're used to with Thor and Loki, but Loki's schemes are more childish and Thor is less experienced. Self contained and easy to read, it's a good beginner comic.
