WHAT WAR DID TO US: Combat Through Their Eyes

Rate this book
This is a collection of combat stories from soldiers of all nations. Spanning in time from the First World War to now. Raw, unbiased, non-political stories from the men who were there. These are their own thoughts and feelings. From the absolute exhilaration of slaying a foe to the desolation of coming to terms with ending a human life. This book chronicles the experiences of hundreds of men who have been witnesses to the violence of armed combat. They lived through the most extreme of human experiences. War. This is a collection of their stories. Semper Fi. - Nick Laidlaw

I started to read this from the beginning but just couldn’t relate. The sections I could relate to were the Kabul Airport Evacuations & The Afghan War because I’m active in the military now. I also enjoyed the Global War on Terror. I also liked Training, Barracks, and Life in the Rear. Very real life stories.

Mr. Laidlaw has written a masterpiece. The realism, the agony, the camaraderie experienced by our fighting heroes is captured by him in this book. If you want to know what war is … read this.
