When the past and present are standing in the way of happiness, it’ll take brazen act to save the day…
Miss Reign Hall has resigned herself to being a spinster. Her disastrous season in London left her with little opportunity (or desire) for anything else. But when she’s offered a governess position, she knows it’s her best chance for a fresh start away from small country village life. Too bad her new employer turns out to be the man who once destroyed her faith in love and romance…
The last thing Bellamy Davion wants is scandal. He’s had plenty of that since his wife abandoned him. His focus now needs to remain on being the best single father he can be. Which is why he tells himself he absolutely must keep his mind (and hands) off the lovely Reign. If only he had listened to his own advice…
Finding their way to back to each other won’t be easy…or scandal free. When all is said and done, is a happily ever after worth the potentially ruinous cost?
Tamara is an Australian author who grew up in an old mining town in country South Australia, where her love of history was founded. She loves to write romance novels in an array of genres, including regency, medieval, and time travel.
Reign is in love with Bellamy, but she has had a disastrous season in London. Bellamy was duped when he thought he was meeting Reign, but was compromised with another, and so had to marry her. Reign was offered a governess position, she knows it’s her best chance for a fresh start. Reign's employer turns out to be Bellamy, who destroyed her faith in love. Bellamy has had plenty of scandal since his wife abandoned him. Though finding his way back to Reign is not easy. He believes his wife is dead, so he can know marry his Reign, but his wife materialises and so is still married. Finding their way back to each other won’t be easy or scandal free. Absolutely adored this story. A very enjoyable read. 5☆
Pulled into the evil web of a venomous woman, Reign Hall and Bellamy Davion discover that they are being handled like marionettes with someone else pulling the strings. What seems like a new beginning for Reign as she travels north to start a new life, becomes a nightmare when she finds that her new employer is her erstwhile suitor, who ended up being married to someone else entirely and that person is now controlling the outcome of the story of their lives. In many ways, the novel is sad as Reign finds that she has to fend for herself. Bellamy knew that marriage to his late wife was a mistake, and as time goes by he finds the fallout even worse than he initially thought. Having the woman he once loved under his roof as a governess to his precious daughter brings about its own problems, but when the impossible occurs, it almost destroys everything they have both worked for. The novel does come to a good conclusion, although not in the way one would expect. I received a copy of this romance as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I enjoyed the love story of Bellamy and Reign. First I have to say, how awesome are the couples names, Bellamy and Reign?! The intimate steamy moments was scandalous indeed, but a little bit naughty. The story focused a lot on how the Ton would judge Reign if Bellamy was to fall for her. That was the entertaining part, but the excitement part was how the two came decisions for themselves together. The book is a good read to cozy up to.
Another great addition to the Woodville series. Both the heroine and the hero were very likeable characters. You could feel the sparks between them instantly. I definitely look forward to the next book in this series
Miss Reign Hall is finally able to find a job in the Lake District, which she will be governess to Mr. and Mrs. Davion’s child. Reign has one goal to make enough money to go to America and start anew. When Reign gets to the Davion household, she meets Bellamy Davion, Marquess of Lupton-Gage, who many years ago liked and even courted each other. Bellamy is now a widow whose wife died while abroad. Reign knows that since things have changed and her station in life has been reduced to a mere servant, she could not be part of Bellamy’s world anymore. Reign knows that she must keep some distance from Bellamy because he is her employer, but the more she tells herself and attempts to keep away from him that it becomes increasingly difficult to avoid him. Plus, Bellamy does not make things any easier for Reign and the attraction between them blazes out of control. Bellamy finally faces the truth and wants Reign to be his wife which would be wonderful if the past didn’t come to destroy the fledgling loving relationship. This is the eighth book in the and is a sorrowful Regency historical romance from beginning. Sure, there are some happy times, but they are few and far between. The story could almost be Gothic in nature excepting of course the characters do help lighten the mood though. The book even has a pretty boring cover yet manages to be enticing anyhow. Unfortunately, things are not fully explained and even people disappear without any idea where they could have gone. Even the second demise of the hero’s wife makes me think that she is going to come back to haunt the couple forevermore even though they both have attained their happy ending. Bellamy, the sad bottled-up hero is even hard to imagine physically and in truth I never figured out how old he really is. Reign, the resilient lovelorn heroine is a little better and somewhat easier to associate with. How she is related to the Woodville’s isn’t clearly discussed either. Yet still Reign and Bellamy feel so tragic it’s really hard to feel content about them both. Still, I enjoyed the story and the plot the melancholic feel of it.
Since 2015, I have read hundreds and hundreds of different authors but I only have 31 authors that I consider my favorites and have read all their books (in my genre). Tamara Gill is one of those authors. I forget how good she writes until a new release comes out. She is one of my top favorite authors. This is my 46th books by her. I read one book back in 2014 but really started reading her in late 2018.
My reviews are different from a lot I see. I don't give reviews that repeat everything in an author’s synopsis. I actually don’t even read those anymore so I am totally surprised on all aspects of the story. No hint of spoilers of any kind. I am also reluctant to say too much in my own reviews as to give any hint of what happens. I think I’m a pretty good judge of a good or bad book so I just want people to know if a book is an awesome read, great read, good read, okay read or bad read. 😊
I love this series. I totally loved Reign and Bellamy. I loved their story and their characters. I hate that it was such a short read. I could have read more and more. I couldn't put this one down. It had that "thing" that readers love. You think you know what's coming but you really don't and then you must quickly find out how it ends. Even though you know...dont' you? 😊
Miss Reign Hall has resigned herself to being a spinster after her disastrous season in London when the man courting her married someone else. Now her father’s died & she needs to find employment so accepts a governess position. Too bad her new employer turns out to be the man who once destroyed her faith in love and romance. The last thing Bellamy Davion, Marquis of Lupton-Gage wants is scandal. He’s had plenty of that since his wife abandoned him after the birth of their daughter Alice. Then Reign arrives as the new governess. Another lovely book in this wonderful series, it’s quite easily read on its own. I loved Reign who was so strong & coped with everything thrown at her & still kept a smile on her face. She was also caring & loving. I did like Bellamy but boy did I want to shake him at times. Their road to a HEA wasn’t easy by any means but it did make for one engrossing read. The characters had depth & were well portrayed whether you loved or hated them & there were a couple I hated. I was taken on a roller coaster of emotions from laughing to crying & just when things were going well a spanner was thrown in the works. My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Reign Hall has reduced circumstances to the level of a governess. She does not want to be a burden on her friend Lady Chilsten Aka Julia is her best friend and obtained her own HEA in a previous book. I disliked Marquess Bellamy at first and even later. He was handsome rich but more worried about the Ton and gossip someday getting to his 5 year old than his current “single” state and his own happiness. When Reign is hired by a cruel twist of fate as his governess to his daughter. Well things heat up but Bellamy being an arse still whined way too much snout scandal and gossip. Bellamy got way more than what he bargained for and not from Reign in a huge scandal that was mind blowing! Just wow didn’t see that plot twist ever! Lord Lupton-Gage Aka Bellamy was too trusting and too weak in many instances! Reign knew the risks and faced them with her foolish heart! Does love win in the end? When a woman you thought dead comes back? You have to read the steamy rollercoaster ride! It does not look well for this couple at all! Bravo
I was extremely fortunate to receive an ARC of the 8th book in the Wayward Woodvilles series, Brazen Rogue. This is another masterpiece by Tamara Gill. Reign Hall is in need of funds and becomes a governess. Unfortunately, she is about to be employed by Lord Bellamy Lupton Gage, someone she once thought would offer her marriage when her circumstances were better. Bellamy is a widower and seeing Reign again ignites that fire that really never died when he was tricked into marrying a woman he grew to despise. He has found love again after he thought he had lost Reign forever. Her being an employee of his makes it impossible for him to pursue her for matrimony. Torn between preventing a scandal and pursuing his love, he must learn to cope with her proximity knowing she is his weakness. Great love story where one must decide how to stand up for oneself and declare what is truly seen and unseen.
I am such a fan of author but I didn’t connect with this book at all. It was all so very sad. Neither the hero or heroine stood up for themselves. They just seem to suffer through all the unfortunate things that was done to them. It was all so sad. Even when the hero finally stood up to his horrible wife it all felt like too little too late. It was always clear to me that the wife was not dead and the monies he keep paying out was to maintain her lifestyle. How much should someone have to endure because of fear of the ton and scandal. It was all so disappointing. Maybe I would have felt a little more satisfaction if I was to hear that the butler and housekeeper (Mrs Watson) were terminated from employment. Also, I had hope that when it all came out that the plot twist would be different. The wife was so evil and I wanted to see her shun by the ton and hear about her downfall.
The FMC simultaneously has too much pride (refusing her friend Julia's offer of sponsoring another season) and too little self respect (throwing herself at and sleeping with the man who told her to her face that she wasn't good enough for him). The MMC is a spineless, self absorbed coward who continues to make the worst decisions possible. His misery is completely self inflicted and always has been. He grows a pair towards the end of the book, but it is such a pity that he hadn't years earlier and saved everyone all the drama by simply refusing to marry the vile woman in the first place. She would have had her reputation ruined (deservedly so) and he would have married his love. He let a villain bully him when as a titled man, he held all the cards. He treated the villain with more honor than the woman he actually loved.
Bellamy, Lord Lupton-Gage, is my least favorite hero in The Wayward Woodvilles series, but it’s a credit to Tamara’s writing that she can draw such emotion from her readers. I feel like Bellamy cares far too much about the opinions of others instead of how he’s treating Reign. He should care more about how his daughter is treated by those closest to her instead of worrying about what the Ton will gossip about in the future.
The twist was what I suspected it would be after a comment his housekeeper made, but it still angered me. It did, however, make me more sympathetic to Bellamy. He did manage to (mostly) redeem himself in my eyes by the end of the book. The bonus epilogue was a nice touch.
I received an ARC from the author. The opinions expressed above are my own.
My heart went out to the heroine, Reign, as she finds herself in a position as a governess after losing all her finances and status. To make things worse, she is placed in the home of her former suitor, Bellamy, who is now a widowed Marquess with a little girl. I must say that I didn’t like him much through a lot of the story because he was so high and mighty and treated her horribly, humiliating her for her lack of social standing. She was kind to the child and loving to him even when he assured her that he could never marry her. Many times it looked doubtful that they would ever make it to their happily ever after.
This was a wonderful story. Bellamy had his love ripped away by a horrible women. He had to marry said woman and know his real love was out there without him. The only bright spot to this story was baby Alice. She is a great compromise to dealing with a women (her mother) anyone would throw away. Reign is a wonderful person. She has a hand that was dealt to her in bad taste. Her love is ripped away. She life just keeps getting kicked down farther with each passing year. They find each other by mistake but everything good follows. Till it doesn’t.
Here is a question to ponder – are all rogues men? Well, this story puts a new light on who the brazen rogue actually is. I loved it. Second chance is a favorite trope of mine and this one (even though I knew what would happen) is a tearjerker. Intrigued? Definitely read this story for a smart, knows what she wants heroine and a hero who sometimes needed a kick in the pants. This is a standalone in the Wayward Woodvilles series but you seriously will want to read each one of these fantastic stories.
After loosing the woman he wanted by being tricked into a marriage with an evil woman. Bellamy is happy to now be a widower and to simply raise his daughter in peace. Of course he never expected his former love to show up on his doorstep as his daughter's new governess.
Reign and Bellamy's store is a little sad at times but absolutely a fun journey to travel with them! Thanks to Tamara Gill for the ARC copy of this book.
I received an advance copy of this book, and I’m so glad I didn’t have to wait!!! It made me cry so much. There were highs and surprises. I felt every emotion you could have throughout this book. Some good sexy scenes, and some sweet endearing scenes. I couldn’t wait for them to get their happily ever after!
Really good installment to the Wayward Wood ville's series. I know it sounds cliche, but I can't wait for the next one! Mrs Gill always writes to the point where you can see the entire scene light up before you within your imagination! I enjoy all of her books, her writing is magnificent!
I enjoyed reading about Bellamy and Reign, how they met to how they fell in love. They had fallen in love with each other when they had met for the first time, when she debuted that season. He was tricked into a loveless marriage by a vindictive wench who enjoyed screwing with his life. In the end they got their HEA. I highly recommend this book! 👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
I felt the surprise and sorrow that Reign feels when she is dropped in the household of the one person she has always loved, Bellamy. Ms. Gill has a way of pulling the emotions to the top of the reader that keeps emotions throughout the story. I fell into the story and was not able to put it down until the end of the second epilogue.
I found this book enjoyable to read. Tamara did a good job in keeping the suspense of what comes next. Even though you will have a good idea what is to come. It is Fun forme to watch how Tamara winds her way around a story to get to the ullimate conclusion. This is why I choos Romance style, happy endings is a forgone conclusion.
Book 8, I did skip book 7 as this synopsis interested me more, so now back to book 7. As the previous books this one is also well written and progressed well to a HEA but unlike the earlier books I have read this one had a little angst in the story which escalated just prior to the end. A good read which I enjoyed (except for the angst that is)
This book is a wonderful story about love triumphing in the end. Reign Hall has had her fair share of hard times. And just as life seems to turn for her, another obstacle comes her way. Great story!
I received a free copy of this book from the author. The thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book has to have the worst H ever! He seemed to disrespect the h at multiple times throughout the book, not caring about her feelings at all, he cared more about scandal than the supposed "love of his life". And do not even get me started on the utterly vile OW.
Enjoyable, loved the undeniable attraction between Reign and Bellamy and so glad they get their second chance and happy ending. I loved how Bellamy finally stood up for Reign, true love wins over scandal any day.
This may be my favorite of all The Wayward Woodville’s stories, which isn’t an easy decision to make. The losses this couple suffered and repeated setbacks made it all the sweeter when they finally win the fight!! pamarella PRCS
I laughed, I cried and fell in love with Reign and Bellamy! You will find 🌶️🌶️ and ❤️🔥❤️🔥 in this book of the series. Tamara just does an amazing job opening up the characters to our perusal. Great series.
