Miss Daphne Raven is happily situated in Grafton. Betrothed to the town’s new vicar, he’s simply perfect as a husband-to-be. Not too handsome, mild, and meek. The textbook husband, indeed. But when Daphne travels to London for her wedding dress, one night at a ball shatters her faultless plans and makes her question everything.
Corey Jefferson, Duke Renford is back in London to secure a new mistress. Life at his country estate must be whiled away somehow, so why not in a pleasurable manner? That is until one illicit kiss at a ball no innocent would attend sends him on a hunt to find the mystery woman, his perfect paramour.
When Renford finds out his desired mistress is none other than a betrothed country mouse, can he tempt Daphne to risk everything to have him? Or will her charms and sweet nature finally tumble the wickedest Duke in London?

Really fast paced. The writing style was too modern for me including the hero’s name, which is Corey.
Beer was served at a ball. Is that historically accurate? Mayhap it was a typo and it was supposed to be champagne, not beer.
He chuckled, sipping a beer she had not seen him holding. "Will you dance with me?" he asked her, holding out his hand and finishing his beer at the same time before handing off his glass to a passing footman.”
Multiple steamy sex scenes (2 in a bath tub) but they were on the shorter side, just a few paragraphs, so that was a little disappointing.
This is the first time I’m reading a book by this author. I’m looking forward to read more.
4 1/2*STARS* Corey Jefferson, the Duke of Renford, doesn't want a wife. He's looking for a mistress. Daphne Raven came to the wrong masquerade and caught the eye of Renford. A kiss changes perception of mistaken identity. Caught in a compromise, a wedding between them, what hope is their future when Renford is keeping secrets and his distance. A passionate romance with the threat of a murderer. Heat Level 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Daphne Raven is happy with her prospective betrothed. He’ll be the perfect husband—meek, mild, and unlikely to stir any emotional chaos within her, the fact that the local vicar hasn't proposed yet is just a minor detail! But when she travels to London for her wedding attire, all it takes is one night at a ball (and a passionate case of mistaken identity) to shatter her faultless plans and make her question everything. The last thing Corey Jefferson, Duke Renford, wants is a wife. A mistress will suit him—and the scars of his past—just fine. He thought the stunning mystery woman he kissed at the masked ball would be his ideal paramour. Until he discovered who she really was and realized she could never be his. Then at the next ball they find each other again & are caught alone. This is the tenth & final book in this wonderful series & the series finishes on a high. I loved both Corey & Daphne, he's troubled by nightmares from his time as a spy & she's a mature, feisty, says it as it is woman. I loved everything about their relationship, the chemistry, which is electric, the verbal banter, which is hugely entertaining & the secrets Corey’s keeping. A very well written engrossing read which ticked all the boxes for me – I loved it My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I was excited at first bc the couple started in a not so innocent location for the time period but then as it progressed it was just a typical story line.
Wicked in My Bed, by Tamara Gill. Cory and Daphne’s highway romance was an expressway to the bedsheets. Cory couldn’t fight the need to have Daphne under him as he worshiped her body in every way. Daphne had no problems or objection to the many wonderful ways that Cory brought her pleasure. That’s just one part of it. While working for the government, Cory found himself being sought after by a French Spy. Well the presumed to be spy pool was very small. Not only did he have to find out who the spy was, Cory had to fight terrible nightmares that haunts him in his dreams. Daphne wanted to be there for him, but Cory pushes her away. And there, the issues from all their problems come knocking at their door. Ladies the writing was phenomenal. The story is easy to read, as well as being able to follow along with the book. The point of the story was clear and to the point. Although some of the love scenes were short in the book, the writer did provide some intimate details. I was pleased with the information that was given that shined a light onto the tragedies of war, and how our soldiers return home affected by the life altering experience. I know that you are waiting to hear about The romance part so here it is. This is what you need to do. Go to your local store. Buy 10 large bags of ice. Fill your tub with cold water. Add all 10 bags of ice to the water and then jump in it, because you are going to need it. That’s how shamelessly erotic Cory and Daphne got down. Yes Lord, these two are like jack rabbits. My God Cory and his tongue undid me. The visions that I had of this man while reading this story brought me to my knees begging please, please, please give me more. I want more. Ladies I will say this. I found this book to be very entertaining. I give this book two snaps and a, “ Cory, honor and obey is old school. Welcome to the new world.” Until next time my fellow readers… read on!
I DNF this and I'll tell you why. I find it really weird and creepy that the heroine goes all the way to London to buy her wedding gown for her imaginary wedding. She hasn't been proposed to and this is her weird way of getting the guy to propose. Can you imagine going wedding dress shopping for your wedding when you aren't even engaged? Like...desperate much? Anyway, I read the book has some scorching sex scenes, but the introduction to the heroine soured the whole thing for me.
Corey was a spy working in France through the war. The nightmares plague him every night, waking him up trying to hurt the person on his bed. For this reason, he has decided not to marry. Ever. One night, he goes to a masquerade ball looking for a lover. Instead, he finds Daphne. She is at the masquerade by mistake. She realizes it is at a bad reputation party, too late but not before meeting the atractive Corey. Both feel drawn to each other and share a very passionate kiss that either can not forget. Corey looks for her at the season ball to offer Daphne the lover position he intends to fill. I love Tamara Gill narrative style. It captures my attention every time I read her books, and for this reason, I don't mind some inconsistencies in the plot. I won't list them since I don't want to do any spoilers. I wish she focused on the couple and their romantic relationship and left the subplots alone. Her main characters are good enough to capture readers' attention.
Since 2015, I have read hundreds and hundreds of different authors but I only have 31 authors that I consider my favorites and have read all their books that they have in my genre. Tamara Gill is one of those authors and one of my top favorite. She is one of those authors that is so good and I just love her writing and her stories but I forget how good she really is until a new release comes out. This is my 49th books by her. I read one book back in 2014 but didn't really start reading her regularly until late 2018.
I love this series. Every book so far has a been a great read. I totally loved Daphne and Corey. What a great couple. I loved their personalities and their interactions with each. All the sex was super hot. I loved the suspense and intrigue. This was such a great series and Tamara Gill is such a great writer, I really wish these books would have been longer. They are such a quick reads for me and then I have to wait until who knows when for her next book…UGH! So damn good though.
I did see a new series Wayward Yorks coming out this year so can't wait for that.
Wicked in My Bed is the tenth and final novel in the Wayward Woodville’s series by Tamara Gill and is a wonderfully passionate way to bring this delectable series to a close!
Daphne Raven is happily situated in Grafton. Hoping to soon be betrothed to the towns vicar, she considers him the perfect husband-to-be. When Daphne travels to London hoping to secure a wedding dress and other attire to help sway her vicar into proposing, one night at a ball falters all her plans for the future and makes her question what it is she thinks she wants. Corey Jefferson, the Duke of Renford is in town to secure himself a mistress. He’s not wanting to find a wife, simply someone who help while away time at his country estate in a pleasurable manner. Then he shares a kiss with a masked miss at a ball no innocent would attend. Corey is sure she’s his perfect paramour so imagine his surprise when he discovers his mystery woman is a simple, country mouse who has designs on a quiet, boring husband. Can he tempt Daphne to take a risk with him? Or is the risk to Corey himself and his heart if he lets her get close?
Although I find it highly bittersweet to see this series come to an end, Wicked in My Bed proves to be a fitting ending to the Wayward Woodville’s series with all the passion, romance and chemistry I’ve come to enjoy from Tamara Gill! Told through back and forth perspectives of main characters Daphne and Corey, Wicked in My Bed was a little bit more saucy than some of the other instalments with the two lead meeting at a ball that’s purpose is for carnality and sun—-although to be fair Daphne was there in error.
Both main characters were likeable and easy to follow. Daphne was a sweetheart who still managed to have a backbone when she needed it and who fought for what she wanted once she and Corey found themselves together. I really loved that Corey wasn’t the nefarious rake he was hinted at in the last novel—-but rather a man with a secret life who fought for Queen and country. What can I say? There’s something about a spy that appears to me. He was very much the tortured hero and I loved seeing him fall under his new wife’s spell. He didn’t want to desire her about the physical but it was inevitable the more tha story progressed.
The romance in this instalment was very passionate. The characters have an instant chemistry as soon as they meet and I loved seeing Gill force them to face what they desired; each other. The physicality of their relationship is never something they struggle with but rather Corey’s ability to let Daphne in and be vulnerable with her. It made it that much more satisfying when he finally takes that chance and admits he loves his wife.
Wicked in My Bed is a quick but satisfying read. I literally devoured it in a day and even though I am sad to bid the characters in this series farewell I am so very excited about the spin off series Tamara Gill has in the works—-The Wayward Yorks—-and I’m looking forward to revisiting this lush regency world as soon as that series comes out!
They didn't know how much they needed each other. Daphne has a plan- to get married to the vicar and settle down in her hometown of Grafton. Walking into the wrong ball and into the arms of the most handsome man she's ever seen was most assuredly not part of that plan. Corey, Duke of Redford is back in London with severe PTSD, he only wants a mistress and pretty Daphne will do. But neither of them expected to be caught and all but forced to the alter. Soon after Daphne notices her new husband is hiding his past from her. He can't tell her what he really was, is, or has done but the nightmares won't leave him alone and soon, it's Daphne that's in danger.
This was a quick read, very steamy, with a little bit of intrigue thrown in. Being a former spy, Corey has his demons, he just never expected any of them to show up after so many years post-war. The author does a good job of showing what some PTSD for former soldiers is like. His fears, his nightmares, his mannerisms, even looking in every corner for danger, always on high alert. I really wished there had been a bit more of character development with both main leads. Daphne is confident in herself but this doesn't come through at first. She can however stand up to Corey and does but I felt like I didn't really get to know her, she was very superficial. The addition of Monsieur Caddell was good and done well.
Modern language is used throughout. The steam level was high with on-screen actions but the scenes were very short although frequent. They certainly were physically attracted to each other from the start. PTSD from war, physical harm, and kidnapping are all noted.
Overall, another enjoyable addition to this series. I look forwards to the next series with the York family! A must-read if you are following the Woodville series and can be a stand-alone if you are new to it. 4.5 stars rounded up. I received an advanced copy for free and my review is voluntary.
It's always sad when the last book in the series arrives, but this tenth book sent the series off with a bang!
A young lady, Daphne Raven, is from a small-town, she travels to London to visit her best friend, a duchess, and to meet with a modiste to pick out her wedding gown. She isn't betrothed but she is sure the vicar in her town will be asking her soon, so she wants to be prepared with her wedding preparations. The vicar is sweet, calm, kind and will make a good husband, but she just may find out that he isn't was she really wants or needs, and it all starts with her accidentally attending the wrong masquerade ball - instead she found herself at a scandalous ball and meets a man looking for a mistress.
Corey Jefferson, Duke of Renford, has finally returned to London - the war is over and so are all secret missions for his country. Now, he just wants to get settled, find a mistress and live his life as the Duke of Renford, but the masked lady he kissed at the masquerade ball was enticing but her mistaken appearance at the wrong ball brought the gentleman out in him. He never thought he would see her again, although he hoped he would, and when she appeared at a society ball, he was attending he couldn't believe his luck. He knew nothing could happen between them because he did not want a wife, he wants a mistress plus her best friends were a popular duke and duchess.
Corey and Daphne spoke to one another about the kiss at the ball - but then they were caught alone, and Corey stepped up to say they were betrothed. The journey to get to know each, being married, the violent nightmares Corey has, just gives Daphne's feisty and strong will to take over and they find love. This was a well-written, wonderful story with a couple who fought for their HEA! I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.
WONDERFUL!!! Wicked In My Bed by Tamara Gill is book 10 in the The Wayward Woodvilles series and though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. I just love the romance between Corey and Daphne and also the wit behind this book. At times it really cracked me up. Tamara is one of the most talented authors of today and If you have not read any of her books let me tell you that you are really missing out. She can write such a clear and vivid picture in your head and her books are always easy to read. The characters and stories are just wonderful. Wicked In My Bed was charming as well as heart breaking at times. This wounded hero story is original and at times my heart really went out to Daphne. This story has a commoner that is getting ready to marry but the vicar has yet to propose, a duke that is haunted by his past with nightmares, not wanting to marry, going to the wrong masquerade ball, wanting a mistress not a wife, being caught in a scandalous position, a forced marriage, not being able to sleep in the same room, not being able to tell them their secrets, a French spy and falling in love. I am highly recommending you read this book…. You will not be disappointed.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
This was my first work by Tamara Gill, and I was not disappointed. It is short enough to read in an afternoon, but that in no way takes away from the story at all. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the page once I got started reading.
Tamara Gill’s characters were delightful. Corey is the emotionally scarred hero. Daphne is feisty, mature and confident. Their chemistry burned up the pages. I loved that Daphne wasn’t afraid of or embarrassed by her sexuality. This book does have a significant amount of steam for the length of the story.
I found the villain slightly predictable, but it worked for the story. Otherwise, most of the conflict involved in Daphne and Corey’s relationship is all internal. Watching them overcome that obstacle and fall in love was quite satisfying.
As others have noted, this book is the last in a series. That said, I hadn’t read any of the previous books and I had no trouble keeping up with the story. It can absolutely be read as a stand alone, although like most series, it’s probably super satisfying to read the series in order from the beginning.
Overall, I give this book 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
I read a complimentary copy from the author. All opinions expressed are my own.
How many times can I say OMG, OMG, OMG???? Wow!! What a story! I wss extremely fortunate to receive an ARC of Wicked In My Bed by the amazing historical romance author, Tamara Gill. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Daphne Raven, our heroine is ready to wed a vicar, and retire to a simple country life. Corey, the Duke of Renford, has no desire to marry but would rather have a mistress. The two meet accidentally at a masked ball...the banter, the wit, even the honesty between the two is refreshing. There is an immediate connection with electricity sparkling between them. They meet again at a different ball and the two are unfortunately or fortunately caught in a darkened room and a marriage is forthcoming. Tamara Gill has beautifully incorporated the marriage of two vastly different people with two very alternate future lifestyle plans into a story full of mystery, and understanding that mystery to create a story that literally emphasizes the importance of the marriage bed. A refreshing story!
Wicked In My Bed by Tamara Gill was another wonderful read. Daphne is a strong and independent woman who met her match in Corey, the Duke of Renford. Or perhaps I should say he met his match in her! Their sparring in the ballrooms of the Ton, amongst other places, was very entertaining.
Daphne wants the type of marriage that her friends have, and she can’t understand why Corey is so resistant to sharing a bedchamber with her. I appreciated how confident she is in her sexuality which leads to some hot scenes! I also appreciated that Daphne is an older heroine than we usually see.
This book does have a bit of a mystery which eventually explains why Corey seems to suffer from PTSD. His struggles are described with sensitivity.
Wicked In My Bed was the perfect ending to The Wayward Woodvilles. I’m looking forward to her follow up series: The Wayward Yorks!
I received an ARC from the author. The opinions expressed above are my own.
I shall miss the Woodvilles. If ever there was a family I wanted to be a part of back in the early 1800’s it would have been them. The woman all had ‘spunk’ and Daphne was no exception. I really enjoyed how she stood up to Corey and had her strong ideas of what she wanted. I always wish that Tamara’s stories were longer – not because they are not a perfectly formed tale but because I love how she writes and wanted to stay in the story for as long as possible. This one had plenty of steam making it the perfect end to a perfect series. If you are reading this review trying to decide if this book is worth your time and have never read any of the Wayward Woodvilles then my recommendation would be to take a few days off, buy all 10 books and feast. Start at the beginning and treat yourself to well-written, well thought out HEA’s that will make the world right for a little while.
One of my favorite heroes, the scarred man who tries to protect the heroine at all costs. I think every book in this series I say, this is my favorite and this time it is no different. Corey and Daphne are so fantastic. I could just hug and squeeze Corey and let him know he is loved. What I really liked about this story is Daphne and that she is a little older and not afraid of her sexuality and is not afraid to confront Corey about his chivalry which he feels is best for Daphne. We have all read a million romances and the storylines are not that different. The difference is that Tamara writes a story that engages us in the lives of the characters. Beware, tissues will be needed. I read this in one sitting (it’s not terribly long) and wanted their story to go on and on. Emotional, sexy, flirty and sensitive. I loved it!!!
This is a hot, steamy romance book. Daphne wants to marry a meek man who lives in her small hometown. Corey, a Duke does not want to marry, he does not want a wife, he wants a mistress. When Daphne and Corey meet by accident at a ball Daphne should not have been at and they kiss, Corey now can not get Daphne off his mind and only wants her to be his mistress. When he runs into her at a ball in the town, he recognizes her immediately. After they are found together, Corey does the gentleman thing, and offers her marriage. There is a little mystery and a bad man, but it does not take away from the love story and the chemistry between these two characters. This is the last book in the series Wayward Woodvilles and I enjoyed it as much as all the previous books I have read. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest opinion.
At first, I didn’t like Corey for repeatedly trying to convince Daphne to be his mistress. Yes, she was foolish to pin her hopes on a clergyman who may or may not be interested in that way but she dreams of marriage and a family not being a kept woman. When they are found together in a compromising position he is forced to offer and although they have passion between them, he has too many secrets which threaten them both. I felt for Corey what he was going through, but he shouldn’t have tried to hide his issues. Daphne was pretty understanding considering, but she was also too headstrong for her own good.
Are so much fun! How is it reading about Historical England and the lives of the people, can put you there, amongst the characters. It's such fun learning how life was, over a hundred years ago. Not something I would truly want to experience. I like my microwave, electricity and indoor plumbing. It sure is fun to read about. Tamara did a wonderful job describing everything. It was hard finishing this book but I know there's another book waiting to be read. If you are a fan of English history this book is for you. I will be reading more stories, by Tamara Gill.
Great love story between two people who had instant chemistry! Daphne accidentally arrives at the wrong masquerade party and Renford immediately takes to her. He isn’t looking for a wife and she is only enjoying a bit of the season to prompt her beau to propose. The Fates interject and sparks fly! A great love story with a lot of spice!
I received a free copy of this book from the author. The thoughts and opinions are my own.
Daphne had a plan. She was going to marry the local vicar. Not that he knew about her plan. Accidentally she attends the wrong masked ball and meets a man. One kiss later both are smitten but aren’t aware what fate has in store for them. Corey is an ex-spy. He lives in terror each night reliving his time in France in his dreams. He never plans to marry. Daphne and Corey are comprised and married. Tamra Gill gives us a book packed with steam, revenge, and fun!
He's A former spy and also a Duke, she was a country girl with very influential friends. They met at a masquerade ball at a brothel, they each had that feeling that they were made for each other. They had problems keeping their lips and hands off the other and were found being naughty so they had to marry. His past came to find him and almost took his wife. I highly recommend this book! 👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
The story follows an ex spy/duke looking for a mistress that he will find in a masked girl during a brothel's party, coincidentally this masked girl is actually a lady who got to the wrong party. The premises were quite interesting but it developed too quickly to really like it. Characters and relationships are not deeply explored, in short all a little hasty but still enjoyable. PS: the english is simple and understandable, useful for those who want to practice in a fun way
Wouldn't recommend it, but it was good enough to finish
spoilers: I enjoyed the characters and the overall plot. However, I think the marriage was rushed, and Daphne abandoning her "future husband" that fast felt weird. The spicy scenes felt about 2 paragraphs and were very straight to the point and basic. "Kiss. Put in. Finish at the same time, almost always. Quickly get dressed. " was pretty much every scene.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Sizzling from start to finish. I was captivated by Daphne and Corey, they have an instant attraction that leads to much more than either expected. A feisty heroine and an emotionally scarred hero make it work. A very satisfying love story.
Loved this story from beginning to end. I'm sad to see this series come to an end but Daphne and Corey were definitely an amazing couple to end the end this series with. I look forward to what Tamara has in store next.
Another excellent Tamara Gill book, the characters come to life in this story and could not wait to see how this complicated Duke realized he had met his love and savior. Can’t wait for the next series.
