I loved the Bible Recap book and was eager to get my hands on these two new related resources. This study guide has daily questions that correspond with the main book, usually 5 to 8 questions per day. The questions are sometimes basic and factual: “Who wrote 1 Chronicles?” Others are more reflective: “David spends the first four verses of Psalm 43 talking to God. Who is he talking to in the last verse?” What can we learn from this practice? Why is it important?” This book would be wonderful for individual study and would also adapt well for group use.
This companion for The Bible Recap Bible walks you through the Bible in 52 weeks. Each daily study lays out the Bible reading plan and can be used with the corresponding podcast episode from Tara-Leigh Cobble. If you choose not to use the podcast then this will work independently by its self. The study guide is self-guided and easy to use.
A few resources are recommended like a Study Bible, commentary, Hebrew and Greek lexicon, and a few recommended websites. The resources are listed at the front of the study guide. All the resources are free online resources.
Each one starts with the reading plan for the daily study. The majority of the study questions cover several chapters in the Bible. It does go through the Bible chronologically starting in Genesis and ending in Revelation. Each day has 5 or more questions to dig into. Some of the questions are basic, “Who wrote Genesis?” Other questions are more complex in nature in the daily study. I like that the questions don’t insert an opinion and that you can write down your thoughts on the questions without someone else’s opinion.
This is a nice study guide to read through the Bible in a year with the added bonus of digging into the word deeper. This would make a nice gift for yourself. I also think this would be an excellent resource for a teen or a new Believer. There is also a journal that can be added to your studies.
Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest thoughts.
I went through The Bible Recap Bible reading plan this year, listening to the podcasts by Tara-Leigh Cobble. I appreciate going through the entire Bible in a chronological way with insights from her podcast. I am going through the Bible again next year but with some added study.
While I appreciate Cobble's podcast insights (they are really good), I also wanted to up my involvement a bit by doing some of my own research and thinking so I will be going through the Study Guide.
Cobble provides five study questions for each day. Some questions are fact finding and rather objective. Others require reflection and critical thinking. Some require you look up a word in a Bible dictionary or Hebrew or Greek lexicon. You may also want to have Bible maps handy. Fortunately, now one can find the information online and won't have to buy additional books. Cobble lists many free online resources at the beginning of this book.
This book is designed to specifically go through the chronological reading plan Cobble uses. An added feature is an index of days with the Scripture covered given. If one wanted to study a book separately from the reading plan, one could. It should be noted that some of the daily readings cover several Bible chapters so this is not a comprehensive study. Cobble will hit only the main points. It is a good tool for Christians just beginning to read the entire Bible through with a first layer of study. Plenty of space is given to record answers.
This is a good tool to help Christians stay engaged with the Bible on a daily basis. It could be used for discussion with friends although The Bible Recap has an additional book for that. This is definitely a good book to increase your understanding of God's Word.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
The Bible Recap Study Guide follows the readings and teachings found in the same book under the same title name. The only thing the series of this book is that there isn’t a Bible with it. Readers are free to choose whichever version they prefer. There is however a podcast series available for listeners. The book is meant to be read in 365 days where we can get through the whole Bible in a year. This study guide contains questions to help readers to dig even deeper into the daily readings. Some of the questions ask about who wrote the book of the Bible, why, when, and promises that God declared. The questions enclosed objective, subjective, critical thinking, and ones that will assist you in researching the topics at a deeper level.
The Bible Recap Journal is an additional resource for readers to help readers in writing down their thoughts about what they learned in their reading. She included a section called things I loved/questions/God Shot just to name a few. God shot is a special section dedicated to learning and looking at the character of God. There is also a short statement at the end of each page to understand and pray on.
I would recommend these awesome resources to anyone who is ready to learn more about the Word. The questions are very open and ended and it will cause readers to ponder what God is trying to communicate to us in His Word. I have read some of the actual book and I honestly love the way it is written and how easy it is to follow and to read the whole Bible in a year. This is a perfect time for readings to obtain a copy of the book, study, journal, and listen to the podcast. The New Year is just around the corner and it’s a perfect time to begin. I’m also thinking about restarting over and using all of these resources together to build up my faith and to gain more knowledge about Christ.
"I received this book free from the publisher, Bethany House/ Chosen for my honest review.”
If you have never read the Bible chronologically or studied as you read thru, this is the BEST Bible study/plan to use IMO. I loved reading it chronologically which helped make more sense, especially in the OT. TLC also keeps the recaps short (under 10 minutes) each day. The recaps really fill in gaps and contain some historical perspectives from biblical time periods. The daily questions are thought-provoking. She answers most of them in the recap, but some are on your own to find the answer. She avoids discussing "religion", which I liked, and stays focused on God/Jesus. Her daily "God Shot" helps keep that focus on looking for the character of God in each day's reading. I used the Bible app by You version and chose the Bible Recap plan. I loved that I could choose the version of the Bible I use (CSB) and there is an option to have it read to you, which is great for all those OT words! I also liked that she links supplemental articles to some of the topics for extra study. She also links The Bible Project book summary videos for each of the 66 books of the Bible. These are extra info/recaps that I always saved until the end of the book as a refresher. I highly recommend The Bible Recap. It took me a little over a year to complete as I fell behind about 20 days, but I did finish. Being in God's word each day is truly life changing; His word is truly alive! Don't skip her intro videos! Pray for understanding each morning as you seek to gain not only Knowledge about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but also wisdom. May God bless you in your reading journey as he has me.
So technically I did not finish this book but I wanted to share my review. I will using this book during 2022.
Last year I had the pleasure of reviewing The Bible Recap: A One-Year Guide to Reading and Understanding the Entire Bible which I have used this year for my Bible reading plan. I was very happy to see that there was a study guide and a journal released.
I picked up using the study guide at the point where I was in the chronological reading plan (about week 49). It was very easy to start towards the end of the study guide. I simply continued my reading of the Bible according to the plan, read over the summary in The Bible Recap, and answered the questions in The Study Guide. I like that Tara-Leigh Cobble has provided us with another way to deepen our understanding as we read the Bible.
I found the questions thoughtful and helpful. They are similar questions as one starts a new book but there are a variety of questions asking us to think about what the authors of the various books were writing about.
So far I have found that there plenty of room for me to write my answers but you could always write out the answers in notebook if you wanted to use The Study Guide year after year.
Please Note: I received a complementary copy of the book from the publisher in return for my honest opinion.
The Bible Recap study guide makes a great companion along with The Bible Recap journal. If the reader wants to delve even deeper into God’s Word The Bible Recap study guide is a perfect fit. There are about 5 daily questions, some with answers straight from your Bible, some the reader will have to do a bit of research to locate the answers.
Where The Bible Recap Journal takes about 15-20 minutes The Bible Recap study guide could get much in-depth. Depending on how involved the reader wants to get. I generally read my text for the day while I journal, then follow that up with The Bible Recap study guide.
The Bible Recap study guide makes a great gift for yourself or others.

This study guide was very helpful and following along with the Bible recap program of reading the entire Bible in a year. The questions set out a lot of things to think about, and to help understand the context of what you were reading in both the chronological timeline and in the grand scheme of the Old Testament and New Testament and God‘s plan. I just wish there had been more space and blank pages between each book of the Bible for writing down notes after watching the video recaps of each chapter. The entire book is filled with not only my answers, but notes from reading and notes from the videos all over the margins and spaces between in the book. I’ve left it quite a mess!
Overall a good guide for reading the Bible chronologically in a year. There are a handful of questions for each day’s Scripture passage. It’s best used in conjunction with her podcast — which serves as sort of an “answer key” to some of the tougher questions that are asked. Sometimes I found the questions to be too detailed and wanted more of a thematic overview-type of question, especially for the longer narrative portions of the Old Testament.
These are daily questions for a year long chronological Bible study plan. They help you engage with the text and understand the context a lot better. Adding all the journals and books with questions made my trip through the Bible longer, but I learned so much more this time around, and it's mostly because of these questions.
Absolutely incredible! It took me a year and 5 months to do this year long trip through the Bible but man I’m glad I stuck with it. I so enjoyed reading the Bible, watching Tara’s videos, and then digging deeper with this study guide. Highly recommend doing the study guide with it! God is so good! *Read*
This beautiful Bible Companion helps you to walk through God's Holy Word in 52 weeks. Each day, author Tara-Leigh Cobble challenges the reader with approximately 4-8 questions to help dig deeper into the day's reading. If you are desiring a deeper relationship with God, this is an excellent study resource.
I’ve been doing The Bible Recap for two years. It’s an excellent program for going through the Bible chronologically in a year. I bought this book because there were times I couldn’t connect to Tara Leigh’s Podcast and I didn’t want to miss a day of her insight. I highly recommend!
Excellent resource although at times it asked questions about symbolism which is something I don’t understand so I wished it went a little deeper or had more explanation. It helped a lot to pair it with the podcast (as well as the Bible reading, which is the whole point).
Hard copy workbook. I learned SO much about the Bible through this program. The supplemental YouTube videos and the workbook added SO much! I really appreciated this program and would recommend it to everyone.
