From a USA Today Bestselling Author, this series has sold over 5,000 ebooks and has 7+ Million page reads. Join Earth women as they travel to a cavernous world deep below an alien planet's surface. Adventure, suspense, and plenty of heated romance with aliens who have horns, wings, claws, and scales, plus hearts big enough to love them forever.
AVA ROSS fell for men with unusual features when she first watched Star Wars, where alien creatures have gone mainstream. She lives in New England with her husband (who is sadly not an alien, though he is still cute in his own way), her kids, and assorted pets, including a yorkie pup and three cats.
This was an entertaining boxed set of sci-fi alien romances, but I did have a few issues with it. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded down to 3 stars.
I liked all of the couples, but thought it odd that none of the Driegonian males made any effort to learn about Earth females before trying to court them. They just assumed that they would respond to courtship the same way that Driegonian females did -- which was absolutely incorrect. It seems to me that a world where females were desperately needed would try to learn about Earth females, and what they enjoyed, before attempting to court them. Their attempts at courting in the Driegonian way did result in some interesting scenes, but still...
I enjoyed the issues with the Driegonians misunderstanding Earth slang. Their translators just couldn't handle it, so they sometimes had some pretty funny reactions to things the Earth women said.
There were a few editing errors, but not enough to really concern me -- some misused words, mostly.
I did wish that the books in this set had been in chronological order. Two of the novellas at the end should actually be read before some of the other books -- as they were prequels. One reviewer suggested the following reading order, and I would agree.
Kruze, Malac, Allor, Drace, Rashe, Teran, Skoar.
Each book centered on one couple's romance, but also contained fighting/escaping enemies and dangerous creatures. Some of the fighting was a bit too bloody and violent for my taste. The creatures were very creative, though.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Only read books 1 and 2 (and the prequel Kruze) before stopping. These just were not my favorites from Ava. Nothing overtly terrible, but some of the plot inconsistencies made it seem like Ava didn't care much about these guys either. I got the feeling she wasn't invested in the relationships so she just cranked out books for the sake of expanding the universe. Overall- they were ok reads, but not good enough to make me want to read the rest.
Just as with the mail order brides series by the same author, these ones also look at human females being matched with an alien male, this time those descended from dragons. You just can’t help but become gripped with their individual stories and the thrills and chills that ensue. Naturally there are always those that disagree with the matchmaking process and want these women for themselves, which creates undeniable tension. A great read.
I enjoyed this series so much! I love science fiction and these novels had me excited to read each and every one! Adventure, romance, aliens all rolled up on one!! Talk about imagination!! Ava Ross, I can’t wait to read your next book or books!! Thank you so much!!
I really enjoyed the full novels plus the novellas. Read the novellas first, they are prequels. She does a great job of describing their world it is easy to see it in your mind. My only complaint is that the stories need a more thorough proofreading, i.e. dropped letters, incorrectly used words.
The stories made more sense when they were all together. Strong female and alien characters working together towards a common goal. Each book had appropriate length and had a good balance of sex and adventure.
The Drifting Brides were really great! They showed how people can live with other beings and not destroying their world. This story gave me hope for all beings in this universe. Great story but what happened with the Ambassador?
The stories, each of them were very well done. Each having their own concerns, but knew they needed to move on. Dangers were enough, and monsters (?), Scary enough lol.
I have read all of these books and enjoyed them again! So many hot aliens with romance and most with honour. Read this series of you wish to suspend your disbelief that males can be good!
Plenty of everything - aliens and humans, colourful world creation, love and laughter, sorrow and danger, all interspersed with a dash of humour... Loved this series. (if heat is not your thing, maybe give this a miss)
I have found all of this author's books to be so creative! I've read everything I could find by her. I also love that I've been able to find box sets with all the books including novellas. Can't wait to see what else she writes.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the compilation of stories of Crakair. The Driegons are so fascinating and the fact that they live completely underground in a dangerous paradise is so fascinating. Of course each romance held a different pull but I loved each and every one.
I loved everything about these books ,I would recommend older the 18 to read them, for they are very sexual. Not all of it , these books are worth your time, don’t forget to read slowly, so much going on, but, wow great story.
