I thought I’d die before returning to the Yosemite pack, yet here I am. It’s just as brutal and terrifying as I remember. Nothing’s changed. Well, except for one thing-- me.
I am done running. I will find a way to return to Derrick, and save as much of this pack as I can in the process.
There’s something brewing in the supernatural world, putting all shifters at risk. We need to find a way to set aside our differences and work together before we all perish.
It’s time I claim my rightful place, as Alpha of this wolf pack.
Perfect for fans of Jaymin Eve, Kelly St. Clare, Leia Stone, Linsey Hall, and other PNR Indie Author Goddesses. If you enjoy sexy alpha-holes and a headstrong heroine, with humor, steam, and action, this is for you! Recommended for 18+ due to explicit scenes and language.
It was so-so. I got bored reading this series. It was lacking to me, especially the romance. The main characters felt a young and inexperienced, despite the fact that they were both grown adults with a lifetime of experience each. Their actions, especially Derrick’s, felt more like a teenaged boy’s actions and thought process.
I got really sick of a few things. One, everyone rushes headfirst into danger, every single time. No one learns anything. Ever. It’s aggravating to read. It’s the same mistakes repeated over and over, and it never ends well.
Also, these wolves can run from Yosemite to Yellowstone in just a few hours. Ludicrous. That’s a 14-15 hour drive with no traffic, in a car, going top speed limits. Wolves run 30-37mph. Big difference. Also, a direct route takes you through Nevada, which has literally nothing in it. Nevada is just dirt and desert, with some hills. There’s very little wooded areas, yet these wolves run through forests almost the entire time, with just a small “neutral” zone being open and exposed. They run this route so many times in books 1 and 2 that it’s impossible to ignore.
Lastly, no one asks questions or shares all of their important information, despite the dire stakes they’re facing. Books like this blow my mind and frustrate me endlessly. When you’re up against a villain and you learn incredibly valuable information, yet only share some of it with your backup—what are you hoping to accomplish?! Bailey learns that 2 other packs are going to be brutally murdered, yet she says NOTHING. Nada. Not a word. She also learns the approximate location of the vampire nest—yet she says NOTHING.
I am glad we jumped right into the fray of things.
Bailey is back at Yosemite, but her promise when she yielded to the cheating bastard Travis, are magically bindings which means she can't challenge him directly. Derrick and his wolf are lost without their true mate. But things must be done to make it all right. And that is when the powers of being an Alpha, eneters the chat.
It was all well and good. But I still have complaints about the world building as some characters fell short with not much history assigned to them. Also, an action here or there felt like a stretch. Other than that, I am happy with the way this book ended.
So we carry on from where book one left us and although it’s not as good as book one it’s still very good and very enjoyable. It’s exciting and action packed, it’s steamy and emotional and full of love and betrayal as we follow Bailey and Derrick on this journey of self discovery and so much more. It’s a great continuing storyline with a few surprises thrown in.
Loved seeing Bailey grow in this book and come into her alpha powers. Her and Derricks relationship is tested at the end of book 1 but his respect for her grows! Its very surprising and suspenseful and ends with a bang! Really enjoyed it
Oh my goodness! GET THIS SERIES NOW! Spoiler free review.
I love the messaging of female empowerment without being too in-your-face, and how they have jobs to be getting on with - some books in this genre are the male giving the female power, but in this one, Bailey is all out for taking it.
Dive into this series if you love: - The most delicious spicy scenes - Interesting take on alphas and what that actually means - Edge of your seat action!
Claimed takes off right as Chained ended. That cliffhanger promised so much and Claimed fell flat a bit. Some good moments and some "meh" moments. Predictable and not really as exciting as I was expecting.
I welcome the character developments and the insights. The emotions are spot on and I love when their inner wolf acts out. I'm glad that justice was served.
Although I enjoyed this book, it was missing a little something to really take it to the next level. After the last book, I got the sense that we were teetering on the edge and that the next book would either elevate the series to the next level or it would taper off; unfortunately, I think the latter happened. Although I think maybe there was SUPPOSED to be more, it actually felt like there was less action in this book than the last- just Bailey thwarting an easily-fooled antagonist alpha and Derrick pouting about his mate being gone. Becca’s character did a total 180 in a manner that could’ve worked, but wasn’t perfectly executed. The plot was also kind of confusing to me- who’s the enemy here? Was it Travis? The vampires? Are they working together? And where’s the “Queen” that we keep hearing about? Bailey and Derrick’s relationship, which was the best part of the previous book, also fell flat for me here. Their only interaction was having sex… which, you know, I could be here for, but it just wasn’t enough to carry.
Recap: Being back at the Yosemite pack is torturous, but Bailey is trying to find the ones she needs to protect. Rebecca slowly realizes that this pack is nothing like Yellowstone and she has no power here because when they see a woman being abused by her husband Bailey stops her from stepping in because it will only make things worse for everyone. Overtime Bailey finds a group of women that are willing to fight back and need power after some have lost children or some have been on the verge of death. These women help to take care of her mother when she was gone and know that they are trustworthy so she said a meeting to learn What truly they can be done. Bailey learns that she must become the alpha of the pack in order to protect the people that need to be protected. Bailey is able to run and meet Derrick at the border where they finally show their love to one another and mate in a way without the mark. Derrick knows that she must return in order to finish out the plan but he hates that she is going back into danger. To set the plan of motion, Bailey acts innocent to Travis and request to go hunting. Bailey is granted 8 women to go on the “hunt for the ceremony.” They will spend 2 days training so when she challenges Travis they can help. When they get back Travis senses something weird and Rebecca’s scent has changed and no matter how Bailey tries to cover it Victor and 3 vamps grab them. Bailey is torn due to the agreement, but when Rebecca gets free and attacks Travis her inner wolf takes over. The vamps grab her and Travis is about to force her mate ship again, she feels helpless but then one of the women attacks and her mother does too and she’s able to fight off the others with the distraction. Derrick feels that something is wrong and howel to his pack but takes off with out them because he knows he has to save Bailey. Bailey defeats Travis and becomes the alpha of the Yosemite pack. She allows them to choose if they want to leave and join the Yellowstone land to start fresh or stay at ultimately the pack agrees to leave. Victor is still distraught after not being in charge and can’t see past his own arrogance. It looks like he’s on the verge of death but leaves and they let him as they journey to the Yellowstone pack land some males and a few of their mates leave to find Victor or another pack, but that is for the best. They get to the Yellowstone land and are greeted with warm arms. They know this will be a challenge, but hope that the future will stay bright. This ended with Bailey and Derrick marking one another and their packs truly becoming one.

My goodness was this book tense! It picks up seamlessly after book I. After Bailey was forced to return to her prior pack to save Derrick, she's come full circle of exactly what she was trying to escape from. Things have deteriorated even more for the females under Travis and Bailey struggles to be submissive, but she did yield and she cannot backtrack. I enjoyed how Bailey doesn't give in, how she plays the situation for all it's worth. Although this book wasn't as fast paced as the previous one, the angst that Derrick and Bailey feel by being seperated is heady. I loved the growth of both Derrick and Bailey, how they come to find their strengths and realise they don't have to be omnipotent. With the Vampires attacking the packs, even during the day, a horrifying revelation comes to light, a betrayal of paramount proportions. It was easy to visualise the story as it unfolded, to understand the various emotions, although Bailey sure has a knack for stirring the pot! Rebecca was a complete surprise, from being a spoilt, self serving so and so, one I really disliked intensely in book 1, has definitely redeemed herself! Love how her character changes, the person she becomes. Bailey devises a plan, a very daring one at that and I was waiting for it to go horribly wrong! Although it didn't go according to plan, I was able to heave a sigh of relief as it came to fruition. I loved how the timid, beaten down females become fierce, how willing they are to help implement change. The battles are hard and heavy, especially when the Vampires enter the fray. But the question is, what do the Vampires hope to achieve? Derrick and Bailey are finally together, finally have their united pack but the threat of the Vampires is very real, very deadly. With a new ally emerges, a witch no less, things are sure to become interesting in book 3!
This was a good follow up book, i enjoyed the growth in the characters and story. Bailey really grew into her own this book now that everyone knew she was an Alpha Female and didn't need to hide it anymore out of fear. Derrek did struggle a bit with the fact that Bailey was an Alpha more in the sense that he was unsure how two Alphas could coexist beside each other without their wolves seeking out a challenge.
When Bailey yielded to Travis in order to save Derrek she soon realized how much her decision would implicate her, she needed to figure out a plan bcoz she'd rather die than end up mated to the man she already escaped from but only death would free her from the hold her yield held over her, something she couldn't do without cause. Rebecca soon learns the ugly truth of the pack Bailey once fled and realizes that following her father so blindly wasn't the smartest idea. Bailey being an Alpha female had always taken the brunt of the hell the females in the Yosmite faced daily but what she'd never noticed b4 was the silent fight that still lived in each of them, she just had to figure out a way to convince them they were all stronger than the trauma they had lived through most of their lives. When she finds out a sickening truth involving Travis betraying his own kind it only fuels her need to rid her old pack of it's terrible past. The only question would remain that if she managed to rid them of the evil lurking in their pack would she even be able to return to the Yellowstone pack and be with Derrek or will she feel indebted to help them recover, deep down her fears of two alphas in one pack had her questioning how things would work too.
So, this review is going to be a doozy. Book 1 was AMAZING! That cliffhanger left me hooked for the entire hiatus for book 2. I loved the first book and I was expecting that energy, that love to transfer to book 2. But that isn't quite what happened. I felt like something was missing and it's frustrating because I can't explain what it is. Claimed had a pretty consistent storyline that correlated with the first book. The character development was already developed in book 1, the writing was the same as book 1. I literally don't know what it is but Claimed wasn't as big as an explosion of passion, paranormal, angst, revenge, power, that I thought it was going to be. I guess that's what I mean, it missed that punch of emotion that Kacey usually gives her readers. But I don't want to dissuade you from reading it, it is very much needed for the plot and I felt an ocean of relief to know how everything went down (after the cliffhanger).
WOW! We get thrown right back into the story where book 1 left off and the suspense, drama and angst is still going strong. I could not put this one down.
I was heartbroken with what happened with Bailey, and I am still heartbroken over what she must now endure with Travis. But Bailey is one hell of a shifter Alpha and in this story, and she shows us just how amazing she really is, even with all of the obstacles and gut-wrenching moments that are thrown in her path to get back to Derrick. It was one intense rollercoaster ride that had me gripping my kindle tightly and turning the pages quickly just to see what would happen next.
Fantastic writing, amazing character development, and outstanding imagery and world building. This series just keeps getting better and better.
Second book of the series, it starts up right where it left you. This book is far more interesting than the first. Separated from their true MATES Derrick and Bailey face several challenges as they fight to reunite with each other. Told from multiple POV, you get insight into the life of an Alpha and the struggles of balancing what's right for you vs what's right for the pack. I loved every minute of this novel. Following both characters through independent trials and tribulations provides a deeper level of character development. A lot of growth happens with both characters, however Baileys Journey through self discovery touched me the deepest.
This book has everything: betrayal, heartache action, strong FMC, love, MATES!
Picking right up after book one, Claimed continues Bailey's story as she finds herself back with Yosemite pack in an attempt to save her mate Derrick.
I'm very torn about this book. On the one hand, I liked the writing style and how we can see the characters progression from book one to now. Everything is clear and concise, and you know what is going on and why.
However, you know when you get to a lull in a story? The place where you're past some action and are almost to more, but you have to get through some details first? That's what this entire book felt like. The story wasn't as climatic, emotional or action-filled as book one, and felt like a filler book.
The funk hit the fan! I enjoyed this read, but once again, we have somewhat of a "to be continued". We kinda got our hea with Derrick and Bailey at the end, but we know that more is coming. We got more pieces to the plot in this book and I'm looking forward to the next. Major changes ahead for the Yosemite and Yellowstone packs. I've enjoyed the world building and plot. This book did have more adult scenes and language than the first one and I did find myself skimming through them to get to the real action and plot. I like how the author handles the abuse and finds strength despite what perception conveys. I'm also looking to see if Lyla gets her hea...and even Rebecca..or does she double cross the pack?? Hmmm? On to the next book.
This book was even better than the first one! Bailey is amazing, and she really shines in this book. Surprisingly enough, even Rebecca steps forward as she goes through some serious character development. Will Bailey be able to wiggle out of Travis's control and get back to Derrick? What obstacles stand in their way- so much more than just Travis! I especially loved how we went deeper into what makes an Alpha in this book, and how that all works really makes these books stand out from other Alpha Shifter books. Great characters, great writing, gripping predicaments, and hot steam. Make sure you continue this series with this amazing book! You're sure to love it!
I received this ARC in return of my review solely based on my own opinions.
Book 2 picked up right where one left off. Bailey yielded to her old Alpha in order to save her one true love and mate Derrick. I loved every minute of this novel. It really capture the essence of what a true alpha should be (derricks POV) and how hard it is to be a female within the Yosemite(baileys POV). A lot of growth happen with both characters but especially Baileys. This book has everything: action, steam, love, heartache, betrayal and a whole lot of woman strength. Highly recommend if you like a deep emotional novel with just enough steam to make you want more.
I was so looking forward reading the second one after this ending. And I can tell you it didn’t disappoint. It was really interesting, but also heartbreaking to see Bailey back at her old pack and with Travis. You see really how bad he and most of the male pack members are. I really liked to see also Derek side of the story and how there relationship grow.
The growing of Bexs character was really surprising for me, I didn’t see that coming. But I really liked her redemption arc. I think the overpowering of Travis was a bit fast and could have bit more development. I am soo looking forward to read about the new villain in the story.

Now that Bailey has submitted to Travis, she cannot openly fight him. She did it to save Derrick but will still make her plans. Rebecca finds out firsthand how the women are treated in this pack; she is very angry and becomes friends with Bailey. Derrick, meanwhile, puts himself on the line several times trying to figure out a way to get Bailey back, fight the vampires, and keep his pack safe. There will be those who go undercover to see what is happening and report back. Bailey and some others will make a risky plan to overthrow Travis and the males of his pack. She will have help from many, but an unexpected flaw in the plans brings about the battle instead~ who will win and survive?
***I received an arc copy and I am leaving a voluntary review. You may want to read the first book of this series for context.***
I absolutely loved delving in book two. I found that the story had a unique spin in book one and here, the authors pushed that spin and I was hooked. Without giving any spoilers, there's a huge development around self discovery, female leadership, and rising above/ healing from past traumas. This is something I have rarely seen in wolfshifter books.
I don't know how long I'll have to wait for book 3 but I am excited to see how this will further develop!
Rise of the Alpha just got Real! This series has been crazy and wild! Bailey, the female Alpha is the real MVP!! But when more start rising up??hell yea!!! Watch out, these female wolves are coming for you! Claimed was everything i hoped for! We went From that gut wrenching cliffhanger on the first book to this: The reunion between Derrick and Bailey was explosive!!!🔥🌶❤️💥!! Revenge was 🙌👌
ps: some frenemies to besties! And can we seriously get Lyra and Xavier to hook up already!?? is driving me mad!
A really good second book. We continue along with the story of Bailey and Derrick. You follow along with them as they independently grow into their potentials, and grow into their relationship together. It is a story full of self discovery and growth--learning that strength, resilience, and leadership can look like many different things to different people (or you know wolves). Looking forward to book 3.
This set of stories and the wolfs that are involved fight for each other and their packs to which they have changed their right to live as they were ment to live as a happy reunited pack for which they were before they became split into two packs, for now they are one pack as they were ment to be.I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile 😃on you always 😁
Claimed (Rise of the Alpha #2) by Kacey Lee & Raven Storm. Series is recommended for 18+. Forced to return to the Yosemite pack Bailey is determined to stop the abuse of the females and save the pack and return to Derrick. At the same time there is something brewing in the supernatural world putting all shifters at risk. It's time she claims her rightful place as Alpha if she can. I enjoyed this book and recommend the series. This book, and the rest of the series, is available on Amazon
Im surprised that I liked this book as much as I did for the two main characters not not interact until almost 70% of the way through the book. Still had all the characteristics of a strong alpha female and male who worshiped her. Definitely has more sex/smut since the last book, but im not complaining. Overall a solid read and im not certain i care to read more into the 3rd book though as this is enough of a HAE for me...
I know this isn’t the last book, but it had a very satisfying ending. It goes as I expected it to go, but the plot and character development are excellent enough to make the predictability acceptable. I love that Bex gets her chance to be a better person and the downtrodden women get to take their own.
I am excited to read the next one, but I feel like I can take the minute to breath that was impossible before this.
I just became uninterested and bored with this one, made it 30% the way through before calling it quits. I really hate when characters are bluntly stupid about what’s happening. Maybe it gets better after a while? I think it’s worth a shot to read if you have kindle unlimited and it’s free, but I would not pay for it. Maybe you can push through and finish this one.
Wow! Luuuved this book so much! It was a continuation of Claimed (definitely need to read that one first to understand what is going on now). Bailey is such a fierce, independent, and self-sacrificing character. I enjoyed seeing her as an equal with Derrick. This book had excellent plot events that kept me hooked, I couldn't put it down! HIGHLY recommend!
This book picked up right where the first left off. I am still completely enamored with the story. It kept my attention and left me on the edge of my seat. I absolutely loved getting to see Bailey thrive into the Alpha she is meant to become. I can’t wait for book three to see what Bailey and Derrick are able to accomplish together.
