STORY:
I remember reading Little Lies, book 1 and although I thought the story to be ok, I was reluctant to dive in to book 2. However, not my choice, but I wish book 2 was first because I enjoyed it so much more, but understood why the books are in the order that they are. You definitely would need to read book 1 to understand the characters and what’s going on in book 2.
The author gave us a build up in the beginning with each character individually. Both Theo and Gabriella did not come together until 30% of the book and once they did, I liked their interaction and chemistry. Theo for me was a little more dark and intense with his persona and I liked that in this story. Seeing Gabriella in this environment versus book 1 was much more exciting for me. I love that this world had a mix of vamps, werewolves, sorceress and shifters.
One of the issues and it could be just me and it probably is, sometimes I was not sure what time period or world I was in. I felt like they were in a different time period and then other times it felt like the present.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
Sex scenes were satisfactory. I felt once they were finally in a scene together everything happen so quickly. I kind of wanted a tiny build up because I didn’t have time to enjoy them meeting face to face for the first time.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
I enjoyed the secondary characters, however, the author sparked my interest with Isabella’s story with Xavier. Isabella is Gabriella’s sister.
OVERALL:
I found myself enjoying book 2 more than I did book 1 and the series has sparked my interest again.

Little Mate is a Little Lies prequel. The story is a dark paranormal romance set in a world of vampires, fae, warlocks, and shifters.
Gabriella, a powerful sorceress has been promised to King Theodore Astor, a vampire, by her father in exchange for her unfettered protection. For reasons not immediately revealed, Gabby is unaware of this fate.
Despite the arrangement, not all members of Theo’s vampire coven are on board with the betrothal. One general in particular sees the mating as a slap in the face to vampires, and held out hope his daughter would become queen. Little Mate is the story of Theo and Gabby's relationship and how they merge their people moving forward.
Little Mate has good world building. Although, full disclosure, I did not start with the first release, Little Lies. Knowing it was the prequel, the latter felt safe enough. However, I’m wondering if there were details I missed by doing this. I was a bit overwhelmed and confused in the first few chapters as well as in the epilogues. I had to read several sections more than once trying to understand who the characters were and how they fit in. Likewise, I had difficulty filling in the blanks between the end of the book proper and the epilogues. All that said, I enjoyed the book and characters and will continue the series to see how everything plays out. I'm particularly anxious to read Gabby's sister, Isabella's story, and learn more about the secrets she's been keeping.

Elena M. Reyes has created such an interesting and clever PNR world of vampires, fae, witches, and shifters- a world full of power hungry men, paranormal politics, and epic love. Little Mate follows the captivating Little Lies, though it is actually prequel, a story that begins before the pages of Little Mate to give us the backstory of Gabriella and Theodore- the origin of their love and all that unfolded in the past that led to all that transpired in Little Lies.
And Theo and Gabby’s story was mesmerizing- a tale of fated love and heart breaking loss, mired in years old revenge. Theodore is everything I needed him to be- a dark, enigmatic, and dominant hero whose heart only beats for his mate. If you adore a hero that shows softness only for his love- he’s for you. He’s got an unwavering and consuming devotion for his mate Gabriella. And he will burn the world down for her. Dark and swoony- just how I like them. And I loved seeing the different facets of Gabriella as we see their story upclose. And when these two finally find their way to each other- love at first sight. Intense, epic love. And a enthralling chemistry that has me turning the pages.
This series is a great foray into a dark, paranormal world with its own unique flair- and the fated mates devotion and super sexy chemistry makes it quite delicious. A great prequel, though best enjoyed after Little Lies to not change the experience of the mystery in that story.
However, this was also what made the first book so interesting because the entire plot was a bit of a mystery and we are given part of the puzzle to unravel. Fans of Elena M. Reyes won't be disappointed in her paranormal twist in the dark romance genre and those who love the fated mates trope will also enjoy this book.

Dark, captivating and intense, Little Mate is a mesmerizing read.
This story will weave it's spell on you. With a beautiful balance of dark and light, angst and love, hope and despair, fueled by intense chemistry and an overwhelming feeling of fate, Little Mate is just right.
After reading Little Lies, I couldn't help but want more from Theo and Gabby, and this book gave me exactly what I needed. This is their origin story. How their love came to be and how it was lost only to lead to the story that unfolds in Little Lies and be found again.

Little Mate by Elena M. Reyes is the prequel to Little Lies and I would not recommend reading it as a standalone. It should be read after in order to appreciate the sequence of events from the main book. The author has crafted an interesting story of fated love, second chance romance, loss and betrayal, as well as revenge that spans over a century. This book provides further context to Gabriella and Theodore's story, specifically on how their romance initially began. I remember reading bits and pieces of it in the main story when Gabriella had flashbacks or dreams of her past life. I was completely captivated by Theodore's everlasting love for Gabriella and how devoted he was to bring her back. It was love at first sight for the both of them.
Theodore himself was mysterious, ruthless, and foreboding but when it comes to his fated mate, he is passionate, gentle, and loving. The Gabriella in Little Mate is quite different from her counterpart in the sequel because in addition to being a powerful witch with a close connection to death, she is confident, knows exactly what she wants, and righteous. After the murder of her parents, Gabriella and her siblings are on the run but fate has other plans for her. At the same time, Theo was leaving a bloody path of destruction in search for her. I was highly anticipating for the moment they finally meet each other and it certainly did not disappoint.
In the end, I enjoyed Little Mate and thought it was an excellent prequel to Gabriella and Theo's love story because it provided some much needed context and background to their incredibly sexy and dark romance. Nonetheless, I would have liked if it was interspersed or part of my initial experience when I was reading Little Lies. Since Gabriella was an unreliable narrator because of her reincarnation and memory loss, we had no idea what was going to happen next. However, this was also what made the first book so interesting because the entire plot was a bit of a mystery and we are given part of the puzzle to unravel. Fans of Elena M. Reyes won't be disappointed in her paranormal twist in the dark romance genre and those who love the fated mates trope will also enjoy this book.

Theodore Astor and Gabriella Moore are probably my top couple of Elena’s. We’re introduced to them in Little Lies which is a mindf*ck of epic proportions. Little Mate is the prequel, where Elena introduces us to the vicious, ruthless Vampire King, Theodore, and his fated mate, Gabriella.
I LOVED how passionate this story was so effortlessly. Theo is a dark character. He lives his life as the apex predator until he scents his mate. His brutal honesty, her deeply compassionate heart, and their destined bond is something I crave in the real world and am lucky enough to have. It had an insta-love feel to it, but it was carefully and artfully woven between danger and betrayal surrounding them.
The world building is rich and so vivid. The prose is heavy with imagery and the details made me live for this story. Elena is a master at twists and turns and despite the shorter length of this story (not a novella but not as long as the average romance) it delivered exactly what I expected.
Side Note: I saved SO MANY quotes, y’all. Talk about 😍 and 🥵!
I’ve been anxious to read their beginning since I devoured Little Lies and y’all, I was not disappointed. Little Mate is a dark, extremely passionate prequel to a romance that transcends time.

Theo is super intense. Gabriella is strong and solid on her own. The two of them together is something to behold. This story is graphic and a bit dark. Theo is very obsessive and protective of Gabriella. Steamy.

I was so excited to see this book was coming out. I loved Little Lies; it was so intriguing, and I never quite knew what would happen next. Theo and Gabrielle were amazing in that book, and by the end, I really would have liked more about how they came to be. Little Mate answered all those questions and placed us in an even better place for Isabella's story, which comes next. There are still mysteries swirling around the two sisters about their powers and their purpose, but just getting this great love story out for Theo and Gabrielle was so satisfying.
If you read Little Lies, you already know the depth of love Theo has for Gabrielle and what lengths and time were gone through to wait for her. This story gives you their beginning, the passion from the start, how they came together, and how we ended up in Little Lies. We also got a glimpse of the immense power Gabrielle possesses, and I am sure we have not seen it unleashed yet. There is so much to unfold from the beginnings of this story involving Gabriella, Isabella, and their mates that we have a wild ride ahead. In the meantime, read Little Lies and Little Mate and meet a love that spans time.

Little Lies was maybe the most intense and amazing book I had read in a while. At the time I had not looked at the blurb or anything I signed up for the ARC and went with it. Seriously this was just based on the front cover! 😆
Impulsive? Yup! I didn't care I just did it and I was so glad I did because it had to have been the biggest shock to me. I loved it! I was Shook. It was my first book by Elena and I was in love with Theo and Gabriella.
Oh my was I.
So when I had the chance to read the ARC of Little Mate. I pounced Hehe.
King Astor will do ANYTHING to protect His Queen. OMG! Seriously love Queen Gabriella!
It's such an exciting and intense read I could not put it down. Not at all.
I loved how this book went back to the beginning to how it began.
I must admit to confusion that lasted for all of a split second.
But I blame my memory or lack of and how many books I read!! LOL
I am VERY much looking forward to book 3, I am absolutely in love with Elena's books I NEED to clear time to read more!!

This was such an amazing world that you have created, complete different take on vampires and witched and I absolutely loved it. I loved that they are both such powerful creatures in their own way and have to go their own separate journey before they walk the journey together. Gabriella is a perfect match for Theo she gives as good as she gets all the sass and spunk that he needs. But also is there to remind him that he is not all evil there is a goodness to him to. I love the wild ride that they both go on through this story.

This installment takes place before Little Lies, so I strongly suggest you don’t read this book as a standalone and read Little Lies first.
Well written, intense and full of mystery and intrigue, this story took me on a journey that dug deep into Gabby and Theo’s story of how their story developed. The paranormal and dark romance elements have the story and added level of interest.

I was spellbound by this book. The author has written the story of Gabriella, the breathtaking stunning and powerful sorceress and Theo, the beyond handsome vampire King. She's his mate and feels his pull and once they meet it's an unbreakable bond. The author did phenomenal with her descriptive telling of this vampire/sorceress love story. It's a page-turner from the first word, full-on dark, intensely sexy. The emotions are vivid with intrigue at it's best, you will not be able to put the book down. So many twists and turns. This prequel is everything I could have hoped for. When I read the first book there was never any question about how special the relationship between Theo and Gabriella was. Getting to find how they came to be is better than I could have imagined.
This is a prequel but you’ll get so much more from the story if you’ve read Little Lies first. I know it sounds counterintuitive but this story is told backwards on purpose. I’m a spoiler queen and am always extremely hesitant to go in completely blind but Little Lies is best enjoyed blind. Then you get to come and read this epically perfect story of the fated love of Theo and Gabriella.
Story 5/5, Heat 3.5/5, Angst 2/5
Fast slow burn, the sexy scenes actually kick off pretty early but they don’t consummate their mating until around 67%.
No condoms, virgin h, no focus on his history with the ladies, biting and blood play, no significant OW drama, no OM drama, push away from h before she actually meets H, they are fated mates so when they finally meet they are both all in, they never break up and there’s no separation on page in this book. No cheating, no cliffhanger and HEA with epilogue.
Safety - this is safe in regards to cheating and OW. He’s a vampire king so he’s not short on interest from the ladies but he’s dismissive of anyone who isn’t the h. There is violence and torture here too, a fair amount.

Wow I love a good PNR and this was everything you need in it🥰🥰🥰 The story was captivating and had blood and gore, twists and turns, deceit and betrayal and steam as well 😍😍😍😍 Loved how Gabriella and Theodore were each other and what they had to endure and overcome😊😊 Great PNR can't wait for another one 👍👍👍

Her father comes to Theo and asks him to look after his daughter because she's important and needs to be protected.
He catches her scent and it's over. He knows she belongs to him.

Go read it! Even if you've Little Lies, here you're getting their story from the beginning and getting to know them on a different level. I really enjoyed that and there were plenty of steamy scenes.

Okay I have since gone back to read Little Lies again (yep again) although it isn’t necessary to read both, but it does kind of pick up where it left off but not too much where you are lost that you won’t get the jest of the book. Buckle up this is a wild ride, dark, suspense, there are twists & turns that will grab ahold of you not letting go until the last page is turned. This takes you back to when they first met, how they first met being fated mates and all. Theo sexy as all get out half human/half demon coming from the underworld and then Ms. Gabrielle a witch from a very strong line of witches and warlords. From the moment they met the pull drawing them to one another was there, yet Gabrielle pretty much fought it (but fate had other plans ) Theo made a promise he intends to keep, she is just as protective of her siblings, and her people. She has the ability to take or give life which puts a target on her head (not to worry Theo isn’t going to let anything/anyone harm a hair on her head) a war is in the making between all the creatures and they all want to be the head…the leader and if Theo and Gabrielle join forces their strength will be unbeatable. But you would like it would end in HEA (it does but not before they go through something) there is jealousy, betrayal, backstabbing (told you to buckle up) but where is it all headed, where are they headed, can they both save the people they love, can they save each other, and is there happiness written for them?

Little Mate by Elena M. Reyes is book Two in the Fate's Bite Series. This continues the story of Theodore Astor 'Theo' and Gabriella Moore 'Gabby'. I do recommend read the previous book 'Little Lies' too. This book took us further in to their how they came to be. It is dark at the same time being a moving story that kept me turning the pages. I highly recommend Elena M. Reyes books if like me you like the dark possessive page turning romances.

Realmente disfruté toda su historia de Theo y Gabby. La manera en la que la autora nos dio esta prequel toma muchísimo sentido así que sí recomiendo el orden de lectura que ella nos da.
No es secreto que las historias donde él es tan abierto en la manera en la que ama me derriten, y obtuve justo eso en la historia. Además, los elementos de fantasía me mantuvieron bastante entretenida. Sin duda alguna andaré leyendo el resto de los libros de esta saga. 100/10 recomendable.
