Let's be realistic: an assassin doesn't get a happily ever after, and this is not a fairy tale.

For the past two years, Jen Calley has set aside her morals to work as an assassin so she can pay for her mother's chemotherapy treatments. The fact that her targets have been horrible people does nothing to relieve her guilt. But when Jen's next mark is Will Bryant, her celebrity crush and the star of her favorite TV show, Gemini Divided, her two lives collide spectacularly.

Steeling herself against her swooning inner fangirl, Jen goes undercover on the Gemini Divided set as Will's new assistant. To both her delight and dismay, he's even kinder and more down to earth in person than she ever hoped. But now her resolve to kill him evaporates every time she looks in his eyes...which is a problem, because Jen's choices are: a) kill a man she genuinely likes and keep her mother alive, or b) somehow save him, putting her in grave danger and leaving no way to fund her mother's treatments.

No pressure, right?

With her mysterious employer getting impatient, Jen is given an ultimatum: she has two days to kill Will, or the deal's off. Two days to decide what choices she can and cannot live with; two days to figure out just how far she'll allow herself to be pushed before she pushes back...

Phewww this is explosive!

So much happens in just a few days and this is action packed from the first page to the last.

Jen and Will have such great chemistry and I was bought into their will she, wont she relationship from the off. Jen is permanently looking for reasons to kill her crush but as they get closer her job completion looks more and more in doubt. There are all some really amusing moments woven in.

Its tense, its nervy but is balanced so perfectly with their edgy relationship with each other that both the romance and the thriller aspects leave you aching to read on and see how this ends.

A fiery read that will surprise, entertain and delight.

I was send an eARC of this book so thanks to Netgalley and the author for that! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️,5/5 Wow, that was good!! I would even say REALLY good! I just loved the characters (Will and Jen💙) and the plot was pretty fast paced, it never felt boring or too slow and just the overall idea was very original. This reminded me of those action movies you watch on Netflix or Prime and you enjoy them a lot, and they have this plot where the hero has to find out what’s going on and discovers dark secrets, etc. Really recommend it, especially if you like the Mission Impossible movies, I feel like they’re kinda similar in a way.

I enjoyed this book. For a little while at the beginning I wasn't sure if I would. The main character has a bit of a split personality (it makes sense when you read the book) and one personality is awkward and anti-social while the other is cold and unfeeling. Neither were likeable. The true Jen starts to show, though, and gain courage as the book progresses, making her a lot more likeable. And in the meantime, there is Will to like. He is a great character.

The book was well written and easy to read, and the storyline is very unique. There is plenty of mystery and danger to keep the pages turning, and a feel good ending.

I would happily read another Lauren Kristen Roberts book.

Wow- this book was fun to read, it had a bit of everything, action, suspense, romance! It’s definitely hard to categorise except to say that it was thoroughly enjoyable.
Jen is a big fan of the action series, Gemini Divided, featuring actors Will and Rachel. She spends all her spare time writing fan fiction about the show and it is clear from early on that she is a little bit in love with Will!
However Jen has another life- she is a paid assassin, earning enough money to pay her Mother’s medical bills. Normally the people she kills are terrorists or criminals and she works for her old army mentor which helps her to believe she is a vigilante force for good.
When she is sent her latest assignment she is shocked as she is asked to assassinate Will, lead actor on her favourite show and she has to make it look like an accident which means a job posing as Stephanie, Will’s new personal assistant. In normal circumstances a job as PA on her favourite Tv series would be her dream position but now she is terribly conflicted.
Jen tries to concentrate on the job at hand, knowing that it is the only way to earn the money but resolves to investigate Will to find out why he has been targeted. The assignment becomes progressively more difficult as Jen gets closer to Will and he seems like a genuinely nice guy . In fact it becomes clear that they both have feelings for each other.
This was a quick and entertaining read with plenty of thrills as well as some great characters. I liked the fact that there were some strong female protagonists and that it was Jen who ended up looking after Will, despite the fact he was one of the lead actors in an all action show.
This seems to be a debut novel by the author but I shall certainly be looking out for any of her future books. Definitely recommended!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my arc.

Whew! What a roller coaster ride of a book. There's a genuinely good person and there's a murderer for hire. There's a person who does despicable things to pay for a parent's cancer treatment. There is plenty of deceit, murder, mayhem, and there is genuine goodness. The writing is quite good, I never wanted to take out my red pen (former English teacher here).

I will be looking for another book by this author!

I really enjoyed this book and appreciate that NetGalley and publisher BooksGoSocial provided me with an Advanced Reader Copy for my unbiased review.

Gemini Divided was a fast paced and quick read. I am glad that Jen was the narrator because she was such a fascinating character. Reading about her inner thoughts as the story progressed added so much to the internal battle between her true self and her job as an assassin.

Will was also a great character to read about and brought some levity to such a suspenseful plot. Getting to know him as Jen did added to his appeal because it was obvious to the reader how he felt even though Jen didn't believe it.

I don't know if was an intentional red herring or not but I thought I figured who requested Jen's services only to be proven wrong. I hope all readers will enjoy how the author leads us in the wrong direction. It makes the reveal all the better.

Spice: None
Tropes: Assassin-target dynamic, celebrity crush

*Check triggers before reading*

Going into this story, I expected both Jen and Will to be different, but was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong. Between the two of them, I enjoyed Will a little bit more. He surprised me with how different he was as a celebrity, and I was crushing on him!

The pacing was a bit off for this story. It was a bit long in the beginning and then was too fast once the action started. A shorter beginning, longer time with Will, then the action would've made the pacing better. If it had been longer with different pacing, this would've been a 5 star read for me.

In this book, there isn't spice, however, I don't think spice is required for a book to be good. I do wish we would've had more tension/low level spice. There doesn't need to be implied sex, but more handholding, face caressing, and kissing the back of her head (I died at the intimacy of that during all the chaos because OMG) would've elevated their relationship a bit more.

I would love to see more of Jen and Will. I think it would be cool to see Jen work security for Hollywood stars, but given what went down, not sure how that would work. But I'd be interested in seeing where these two go!

Gemini Divided by Lauren Kristen Roberts is a roller coaster of a book. Is that a good thing? I’m not sure but it had me all over the place. This is Lauren Kristen Roberts’ debut novel and I think she did a pretty dang good job. I’m a big fan of eclectic stories, and I think this one qualifies. It had a teeniest of tiniest bits of romance (if you like them spicy this might disappoint you), it had suspense, it had tension and had unlikely scenarios, mystery and a little bit of friendly teasing as well.

In this story we meet Jen who has been dealt a sucky hand in life. When she returns from service, she finds out that her mother has been hiding her cancer diagnosis from her and if that isn’t bad enough, she is about to hit the lifetime maximum on her insurance. Jen needs to find a way to pay for her treatments out of pocket but how does one go about finding an income that can support those kinds of bills. Well as luck would have it her old commanding officer has the perfect job for her. Well, I suppose it depends on what you consider perfect. He wants her to become a killer for hire, but don’t worry she’s just killing the worst of the worst kind of people. Or at least that is always what she has told herself. She really begins to question this when she gets hired to kill Will, only her favorite actor in the entire world and the one she writes fanfics about in her spare time. Everything she’s ever read points to him being a down to earth and friendly guy. What could he have possibly done to have a hit out on him? Will Jen go through with the hit? Will she risk her life and her mother’s life if she doesn’t?

As I mentioned before this book had me all over the place. I will admit that the first half or so took me a little bit to get into, but once I hit the halfway point, I had a hard time putting it down. This book showed us really well the conflicting thoughts and processes that Jen goes through as she tries to decide what to do. The second half included some action scenes including a car chase, a shootout and more. The ending may or may not have had me a little teary eyed as we come to terms with Jen’s actions, and we get to experience more of her mom. This was such a great quick read that allowed us to imagine what life might be like walking in someone else’s shoes.

** I received this book as an ARC from the author. This is an honest review and all thoughts and opinions are my own. **

An irresistible Cinderella story for a fanfic-writer-turned-assassin!

I loved the thrillingly unique premise of this one-a fangirl hired to kill the subject of her fanfics. It was great vicarious fun to see the scenes where she's starting to be attracted to him as a person, but her shipper heart still wants to see the moment with his character and the love interest character, filming scenes for the show she writes fic for. Or, when they get into danger, how he shields her with his body the way she's seen him do a hundred times on the show. The hero was extra likeable-a down to earth, disarming version of a movie star. I really liked seeing Jen turn badass and save the day for the movie star hero, too.

This was a delightfully escapist read, with fun banter and quick pacing all the way through.

Gemini Divided is my first book by Lauren Kristen Roberts, and it was a delightful read. Solely narrated from the female protagonist's point of view (Jen), Lauren does a fantastic job of presenting such a comprehensive and complex character. Owing to personal circumstances, Jen is a fanfic writer by day and an assassin by night. Things take a drastic turn when her next target is the charming and handsome Will Bryant, the lead of her favourite TV show, Gemini Divided Jen's/Stephanie's musings and inner conflict are explored well, which drives the first half of the book. The plot slowly comes together with tiny revelations on every page. This book drew me in as it has multiple elements of romance, action and thrill. The diverse supporting characters complement the plot, and you're well-acquainted with all of them by the end. The slow burn and insane chemistry between Jen and Will are fiery, authentic and earnest. Their banter made me laugh out loud; I appreciated the realistic ending. If you're looking for an adventure and wish to visit sunny LA in your mind's eye, don't miss this book! A 5 star read!

As a combination thriller and romance, there were several storylines in Gemini Divided with the primary one being that Jen is an assassin who is assigned a hit that may or may not go as planned. I felt Jen was a bit whiny at times, but then, I find my inner voice a bit whiny at times as well. I appreciated the author's writing style. I had just finished reading a great book that had several complex storylines and characters. Gemini Divided was much more straight forward as it allowed me to put it down and pick it up later without having to review my notes to reorient myself to the story. I mean this in a positive way as I enjoy both types of books. ..one a chocolate torte with lots of layers and Gemini Divided a piece of rich chocolate cream pie. Both equally good but for different reasons. Both the storyline and main characters provided laugh out loud moments along with exciting chases and shoot-outs. I can easily see this as an enjoyable movie. I enjoy a strong female lead who is not afraid to do what she has to do - either for herself or for her loved ones. I thought I knew who the "other bad guy" was. I was wrong. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I received this book as an advanced copy to give an honest review.
The heroine, Jen/Stephanie, in this story can definitely take care of herself and is tough as nails. She is a hired assassin who has to kill the star of her favorite TV show. It is the classic story of "bad guy" with a heart of gold scenario but in this case the "bad guy" is female. She only assassinates the real bad guys (mobsters, drug lords, terrorists) and she does it to make enough money to pay for an experimental cancer treatment for her mom. How can you not love the woman??
Will is an actor who gets in over his head and he doesn't even realize that he has seen something he shouldn't have. He is super sweet and kind guy next door that everyone loves. The perfect person for Jen, who now is supposed to kill him.
She spends the majority of the book trying to find a reason that someone would want Will dead and justify her assassinating him.
If you are looking for a burning hot romance with lots of heated scenes, this is not the book for you. This is definitely a mystery/action novel with a very slow burn romance thrown in. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading mysteries with a light romance.

Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Gemini Divided by Lauren Kristen Roberts is a romantic thriller that will appeal to fans of Finlay Donovan or Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The story revolves around Jen, a fanfiction writer by day and an assassin by night. One day, she's assigned to kill Will Bryant, the star of her favorite show Gemini Divided. She has to go undercover as his bodyguard in order to get close to him. Will Jen be able to become part of Will's life without revealing his true motives? Will she carry out her mission or will she fall for her target?

Here is an exciting excerpt from Chapter 1:

"Her mark was easy to locate. Fish Lips, as she thought of him, looked exactly like the pictures in his dossier, only slightly less gangster in real life. Maybe a tad chubbier, too.
She checked her watch. Midnight. It was time.
Rolling her shoulders, Jen settled into the stock of the rifle. She took a deep breath and cleared her mind. For a second everything was perfectly still.
Click."

Overall, Gemini Divided is an exciting blend of romance and thriller. I love books that blend multiple genres, and this book definitely fits the bill. One highlight of this book is the action and excitement that comes with Jen's assassin job. It made a nice change from the standard romances between celebrities and ordinary people. I did take off 1 star, because I found the actual romance to be a bit boring. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of romantic thrillers, I recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in January!

This book was a nice read. It had good characters and story line. It is about a woman named Jen getting out of the Army and finding out her mom has cancer. Her mom had hid that information from Jen so she wouldn’t worry about her. Her mom is in need of money to help fund all of the treatments she has undergone and for the ones in the furtive in hopes of beating the cancer. Her mentor from the Army offers her a job as an assassin to help make a lot of money to pay offer her moms bills. While she isn’t working, Jen loves to watch her favorite show a million times and write about it. She is the ultimate fan. When she is given her next assignment she can’t believe her eyes. It is to kill the star of her favorite show Will. She takes the assignment but isn’t planning on going through with it unless she finds some damping evidences that he is a monster and not the sweet and easygoing person he seems to be. She is given the job as his assistant. There is an instant connection between them two of them but he doesn’t know she was hired to kill him. She starts to really doubt this assignment as she gets to know Will better. Once she finds evidence that proves he isn’t evil she works as hard as she can to save his life numerous times. When it is all over and everything is laid out including the truth, of who she is and why she is there, will he forgive her? I received this ARC for my honest review.

Thank you to the publisher, BooksGoSocial, and the author for letting me read an ARC of this book through NetGalley!

"And she couldn't exactly say, 'So, I'm an assassin and I work mostly at night, which is perfect because it leaves my days free to write'"

"The inappropriate favour that I'm definitely not asking of you was to pretend to be my date tonight when a big group of us goes out to dinner"

I really liked this book. Not quite but still fake-dating, female bodyguard, trained assassin who writes fan fiction about a TV show ... this was amazing!
It had a great combination of thriller, mystery, and romantic banter between the main characters and I always appreciate a female badass who's there, showing us that, despite trying very hard to do her job being as cold and heartless as possible, there's always gonna be a part of you asking if it's really worth it... especially if you're a really good person!
Dealing with pain and watching the people you love experiencing it, without being able to do anything, makes you fell powerless so you try your best to make it work, for them.
That's what Jen does in her own, very singolar and unexpected ways.
I loved the fan fiction theme put there at the right moment to make it all sound at least a little bit less cruel ...
And Will is just ...
I'm really excited for people to read it!

"Not hanging out with him. Surveilling him."

"He has guilt issues about hurting my feelings, and I have no emotional reaction to killing people"

I received an ARC via Booksirens and this is my honest review.

Jen works for Brett as an assassin in order to pay her mother's ongoing treatments for cancer. When she's not working on her target, she enjoys watching a tv show called Gemini Divided and even writes fanfiction about it. On one macabre day, she gets a new job which Will Bryant, the actor of her favourite tv show will be her new target.

I liked it a lot. The plot was simple but not boring. The characters are likable too, none of them were vexatious. In spite of that, I do think that there's a lot of potential for more thrill.

Overall, if you like assassins as main character and a fangirl of any actors, this one is suitable for you.

I gave it my best. Read up to the 53% mark and skimmed the rest till the end. The story has potential, but without the romance aspect. Unfortunately, Gemini Divided came across as a cheesy soap opera to me. It wasn't even a mystery or thriller.

The beginning of the novel got my attention with the assasination scene, but that's about it. After that, most of the novel dealt with the protagonist's waffling on whether to move forward with the hit on her target. Nothing really developed and it was no surprise on the ending. Too bad that the romance aspect got in the way of the real story. A better narrative, in my opinion, would have been to play on the hitman with a conscience theme.

Gemini Divided turned out to be an unfortunate one star read for me. Too bad because it does have promise.

I received a digital ARC from BooksGoSocial through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

If you are expecting a nail-biting thriller, don’t. Gemini Divided is not a thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat. It is however, a thriller with a softer touch. The author blurs the lines between good and bad and adds an unusual romantic angle to the story that will leave you feeling just a little emotional at the end.
This book was not what I was expecting, it turned out to be a light, fun read that almost had me reaching for a tissue. Gemini Divided is a fun, easy read that will leave you feeling entertained.
This debut novel was a creative look at blurring the lines between good and bad. The author drops you into the mind of a conflicted young woman as she struggles to decide what the right course of action would be in an extremely difficult situation. You find yourself quickly bonding with Jen and suffering through her emotional turmoil with her. The author did an amazing with this character and you are left curious to find out what Jeb will end up doing. This keeps your reading as you are flipped from one emotion to the next in Jen’s mind.
When Jen’s mother who suffers from cancer is faced with increasing chemotherapy bills, Jen needs to find a way to make money fast – lots of money. It does not take a lot for her former commanding officer to draw her into a world where she becomes an assassin. When her next target turns out to be her celebrity crush it feels like her world is shattering. Forced to get close to Will Bryant, Jen battles to understand how he ended up on a hit lit. He is as charming in person as he is in all the media coverage she has consumed.
Jen needs to decide if she is going to do her job and kill Will or if she is going to walk away from the assignment which could put her in danger. And what about her mother, who will take care of her is Jen is dead. As time runs out, Jen desperately searches for proof that Will is not her typical evil hit, but what will she do once she knows for sure?
This book was a fun, light read even if it was a little emotional. The author shows how an awkward young woman reacts when she is face to face with her celebrity crush and explores all her uncomfortable thoughts and actions. This added some rather funny moments which made the book easy to read.
Jen ended up leading a life she never wanted, the mounting medical bills are all that keeps her going. She is a devoted daughter who would do anything for her mother, even become an assassin. You spend a lot of time in this young woman’s head which allows you to experience her conflict first-hand. She is meant to be an assassin, a cold-blooded killer, yet the more time you spend with her, the more you realise how naïve she really is. It is impossible for this woman to not crawl into your heart. The author did a marvellous job creating her.
As for Will, I am on the other side of the world and have never come face to face with a Hollywood star, and even I realised that the chances of him being such a nice guy is extremely unlikely. The man is just too perfect. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. Rachel on the other hand had me picturing actress “Ashley Greene” from the moment she was introduced. If anyone decides to turn this into a movie, please cast her as Rachel – she would be perfect.
Gemini Divided might not be a heart-racing thriller, but this book is light and fun and extremely easy to love. So yes, this one has been added to my love list. I am eager to see what Lauren Kristen Roberts send our way next.
If you are keen on a lighter thriller with a touch of romance, that includes a funny celebrity crush situation then this is the book for you. This book will keep you entertained and when you reach the final page and have a hint of a tear lingering you will be left with a smile as you appreciate the creativity.

I loved this book!!! The action, the slow burn romance, and most of all the character development in the main character were OFF THE CHARTS!!!
This was really good!!! Loved how fast-paced it was, there were a few areas where it was fast-paced a little too much but overall it was a pleasant simple read! Loved the plot, the characters, the action - all in all very good read if you want something light but sort of like an action-packed light, this is the book for you.

Wow what a read

Great storyline great characters gripping stuff

All the twists and turns a great plot

Maybe hard to believe at times but would be brilliant film( or tv series irony)

A very different take on mobster gangs and assassins never thought I’d feel sympathy towards an assassin let alone be glad she found love and redemption well done

Jen is an assassin by night and TV show Gemini Divide’s number one fan by day. Those two personas crash together when her next mark is revealed as none other than Will Bryant, a lead character of Gemini Divide. Being the super fan that she is, Jen already feels like she knows everything about Will and doesn’t want to believe he’s one of the bad guys that need ‘putting down’. She knows that she has to destroy one part of her life in order to maintain the other, but which part should she save?
This is the first time that I have read a book by Roberts and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Watching Jen, our strong female lead wrestle with her morals while maintaining her kick-butt identity was refreshing. Many times I have read about a female character being ‘strong’ however all their actions portray a weak character, this is not the case in this text, with both the description of Jen and her actions in alignment. I really enjoyed the camaraderie among the characters, especially Will, Rachel and Hailey and how Stephanie is beginning to fit in the group. The pace of the plot was great and the elements of suspense kept me eager to find out what would happen next. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book from BookSirens. I really enjoyed this book, and I can already tell it will become one of those "comfort reads" for me, those books that, no matter how many times I've read, I always want to reread again. I

The story is very interesting. It's really easy to read, and the characters all feel so real and easy to love, even the protagonist, who at first I wasn't sure I'd like, given her unusual line of work. Another thing I noticed is how transparent the writing is. You read it and you can almost see the scene unfolding in front of your eyes, and feel what the characters feel!! The author manages to make you feel extremely interested by what's happening, and I found myself *having* to read "just one more chapter" until very late at night 🤭

Everybody who wants to read about a woman who is extremely badass and strong but also a serious dork should get this book. Oh, and btw, Will is also not at all bad and preeeeeetty dorky himself

2 ⭐️ So much potential

Summary:

A fanfiction writer by day and an assassin by night, Jen kills bad guys to help her mother pay for cancer treatment. But when her next target is the star of her favorite show and fanfiction, Gemini Divided, she goes deep undercover to find out why.

My Thoughts:

Even though the premise is ridiculous and unbelievable, I actually liked it. It gave me Miss Congeniality vibes except if Sandra Bullock was the one sent to kill Miss United States.

Female assassin. Undercover assignment. Celebrity crush. Secrets and lies. Suspense. Thriller. Mystery.

There were so many elements to this story that I loved, but the delivery wasn’t quite there. Here are a few things that hindered my enjoyment of the overall story.

There were a lot of repetitive inner thoughts. Throughout the story, Jen kept having this internal crisis on whether or not she should kill Will. Obviously, I get it. Characters should have a crisis to overcome. But it was the same question and answers over and over again, “should I kill Will?”, “no, I don’t want to because he seems like a good guy but I have to prove he’s not bad”, or “I have to because if I don’t my mom won’t have a way to pay for her medical bills”. These thoughts could have been mentioned three times and I would have been satisfied. But it was constant, so I zoned out.

This story is also extremely wordy. Again, lots of inner thoughts, and unnecessary descriptions. I was mostly interested in the dialogue so I had to skim most of it to stay interested.

There were a few things that certain characters did or said that were so implausible I couldn’t get into the story. For example:

- When the new waiter at the coffee house straight up tells Jen she’s old and asks if she has a real job. Wtf? No one says that.
- Will not being able to handle weird 14-year-old fangirls was a stretch. I’m sorry, but what? Either be mean to them or hire security.
- The producer hiring a hitman to kill Will for happening to see the crates? Will is the lead actor in an incredibly popular TV show. He’s high profile and not really replaceable to the show. A producer would confirm if Will saw something he shouldn't before hiring an assassin to kill him.
- Once Jen and Will are on the run, she gets jumpy and unfocused. That doesn’t make sense. She has training from her military days and has 2 years of experience killing, she wouldn’t be freaking out when things get complicated.
- Jen not going to jail, but instead is given a clean slate by the FBI is unlikely. I get it. This is a fictional romance thriller, so we need these characters to have their happy ending, but the odds of this happening are slim. Maybe she would have a deal worked out with them but to get off completely free after assassinating a bunch of people? I doubt it.
- Jen's mom later learns what she did and simply says, “You shouldn’t have done it, of course, but I understand. If I had your skills, and something threatened you that way, I’d have done the same thing.” It’d be devastating learning that my daughter resorted to killing people to pay for my medical bills. Honestly, I’d have said, "let me die because saving my life is not worth risking your future."
- Will wanting to be romantically involved with Jen after knowing everything seemed far-fetched. Sure I could see forgiving her is possible, but wanting to actually date someone who has been killing people? No thanks.
- Also, when Will says, “When you disappeared, there was a hole in my life where you should have been, even though we hadn’t known each other long.” You’ve known each other for THREE days! Chill out bro. But I guess that’s romance for you.

Overall, Gemini Divided had a lot of potential - an exciting, fun concept but it just didn’t deliver.

The book started off with a bang (literally) and I could not put it down! The plot was fast paced and the chapters flowed smoothly. This wasn't an intense thriller, but it kept me on my toes!

The characters were strong and well developed. Jen is a shy introvert by day, and her alter ego Stephanie is a badass assassin by night. Will, her target, was the absolute sweetest guy! I loved the way he & Jen interacted with eachother.

This is the authors debut novel and I gotta say, she knocked it out of the park! Highly recommend!!

A big thanks to the author for gifting me a copy of the novel in exchange for my honest review.

A debut novel and not quite the thriller I was expecting from the blurb. It’s very lighthearted with a liberal coating of romance and quite entertaining in a cozy thriller way. I liked the characters and generally the book was well written although the pacing was a little slow in parts.

Briefly, Jen writes fan fiction for her favourite show Gemini Divided but she has another life, as a professional assassin, to cover her mothers medical treatment bills.
But when she gets an assignment from her mentor to kill the star of the show Will Bryant she is shocked, and the death must be soon and made to look accidental. To assist her she will be employed as his PA on the show and she is intent on carrying out the kill. However, once on location she starts to have issues particularly after meeting her target.

The storyline is pretty straightforward but moves along well with, I felt, the inevitable consequences for Jen and Will. Nice easy read with a few twists in the plot but I felt the characters were a bit too predictable and the story good but lacking a bit of depth. In view of this rated it ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 rounded up to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Almost Five Stars. The book was thrilling and the writing was strong. So why not go all the way to the full five? The plot was absurd: A contract killer who couldn’t break her contract. And she was only doing it for her mother. I must admit I considered putting it down. And I am not even including a plot twist I am withholding to protect a spoiler.

But I am glad I stuck with the book. It was a good book and if you are looking for a solid read and an enjoyable flight from reality, I recommended this highly.

Gemini Divided by Lauren Kristen Roberts is a creative story with a few red herring along the way. The characters are likable for a Chic lit story but lacks the finishing touches that will have readers coming back for more.
The story felt unsure of what direction it wanted to go darker or more humor.
