I did it. I’m in the orc capital… only not as I imagined. For one, I am mated to the formidable orc general whom everyone fears. And two, the orc Imperator is secretly planning my mate’s death.
With strong, bloodthirsty Urgan by my side I am not afraid… until he locks me up in his dungeon and forbids me to leave while he’s preparing a military coup. It’s for my safety, he says. But I don’t feel particularly safe in the palace crawling with orcs, with the orc princess Urzulah trying to rip me apart so she can have my mate for herself.
Urgan doesn’t take it well when I defy him. A rift grows between us, and when it seems that our bond hasn’t been fated, after all, he rejects me publicly. And now, I can’t even tell him I’m pregnant.
This steamy monster romance is a 50,000 word novel and ends with a HFN - no cliffhanger! It’s book two in The Silver Fury trilogy, which ends with a HEA.
Sign up for my newsletter: here. Layla Fae writes steamy monster romance of many varieties. Fluffy or dark, with TWs ranging from flavored monster essence used as food to blood play and dark taboo romance, she explores the fantasy of monster love from various angles. She is not an author for the faint of heart.
This was incredibly disappointing. The first book was fantastic and it’s like the author forgot the world building she did in the first book and didn’t know how to write her characters.
In this book, we get neither a fun fantasy nor orc smut. In one of the few sex scenes, the heroine says that having sex still hurts sometime. Like that’s sexy and romantic!?
And there’s no pull for me to read the third book in the trilogy. No tension left that would make me care what happens next.
This book had so many frustrating and irritating things about it. Very little character or relationship development, the timeline doesn’t make sense, the hero goes from “it’s not my time” in the first book to openly talking treason in the second.
I hated how the heroine just runs off, knowing this world is dangerous. But also, the hero locks her in her room with no guards (even tho the world is dangerous).
There are so many things that don’t make sense. Especially after the first book set things up.
Also, there’s so much repetition in this book of basic info, that it’s annoying.
Also, what’s with peeing on wheat seeds to see if you’re pregnant? That’s weird and not a thing. Even in magic, that’s gross. We’re going to sprout wheat with pregnant women’s pee!? Ew.
This is the sequel to The Orc's Bride, which is a book that I read last month. I am not going to state the summary for this one, just because it could spoil things that happened in the previous book. This is the continuation of Una and Urgan's romance. They have to maneuver and participate in many orc court politics and learn how to be a couple together.
Man, I thought that the first book was brutal and bloody! This one supersedes that for sure! Please check out the trigger warnings! I really enjoyed this one! But not as much as book one :( I think I just wanted more time between the couple. For the majority of the book, they were separated for various reasons. I just wanted more from this couple that I love so much!! The little snippet we got for book three has me super excited for its release! Cannot wait :)
TW: blood, death, murder, torture, mention of SA, poison
TROPES: fantasy romance, height difference, kindle unlimited, married couple, monsters, orcs
This book was amazing and I couldn’t put it down and yes it’s book 2 and I haven’t read to first one but you understand and can put the story together, also this is my first time reading for this Author and she is amazing and I look forward to the next instalment. Una is mated to General Urgan and it been good so far and with the help from his grandmother Orianna about Orc life makes it just that little bit easier but going to the capital city to overthrow the Evil King and restore balance and peace is what the General Urgan and his followers are about to do and to keep his human mate safe he locks her in the dungeon but there is one that wants to kill her and being stuck in a dungeon where she is at her mercy is not a good idea and because Princess Urzulah who want the General for herself. Fearing for her life she defy’s her mate and escapes and when he finds out what she has done him in front of his people he rejects her as his mate and this makes to princess very happy but Una is heart broken and doesn’t get the chance to tell him she is pregnant. There is danger coming from both sides can the survive and work everything out and have there HEA or not. There is heaps going on in this book there is deceit, betrayal, kidnapping, torture, sacrifice, hot steamy scenes but in the end there’s love and protection.

If you haven’t read the first book, go download it now. You’ll need to read it in order to enjoy this one fully.
The beginning to book two was a lot slower than book one, with little action or dialogue. It took me about a chapter to really dig in and immerse myself in the story.
Una was bold, brave, and devious in the first book. In this next installment, she seems to have lost herself a bit. She’s suddenly listening to anyone who’s ever said she’s weak and worthless. Where she’d tried not to show fear previously, she’s now scared. It wasn’t until about halfway through that she seemed to remember who she was.
Urgan has grown softer since taking a mate, but we saw those changes beginning of the previous book. The most dramatic thing Urgan does is immediately explained, which for me dropped the impact quite a bit. I was prepared to hate him and was ready for some much needed angst and drama. Then his actions are explained and… well, I wasn’t sure how to feel.
There’s fighting, torture, kidnapping, steamy scenes between Urgan and Una, and a grandmother who nearly stole the show. I seriously love Orianna. She’s brash, not shy to voice her opinions, and has the attitude to back it up.
The ending of the book was wonderful. A happily ever after of sorts, with a promise for more adventure in another book. I loved the way the orcs and humans pulled together to defeat a common enemy. But mostly I loved Una and Urgan as a couple. They’re perfect for one another.
The Orc’s Wife is a fast-paced, action-packed, steamy read that will leave you wanting more.

Stayed up reading this with equal parts obsession and annoyance. Our main character developed daddy issues out of no where. Had mental stuff going on that never got dealt with in their relationship. And the plot was nothing short of questionable. But I was still invested. CW side character rape, violence, torture.
There is so much going on in Una and Urgan’s continuing story, especially as they reach the capital where Urgan intends to overthrow the unjust King. To protect his mate, Urgan puts Una in the dungeon which seems like a bad idea with her being surrounded by orcs and the princess who would like to see her dead.
When Urgan feels that Una is defying his authority, trouble grows between them and he rejects her in front of others. Was this real? Can they reunite? They are a perfect couple, good for each other. Will she survive once she is at the princess’ mercy?
The second book in the Silver Fury series, orc general Urgan and human Una's story continues with suspense, betrayal, traitors, drama, danger, villains, twists, turns, secrets, and love. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I definitely liked the first one better. What happened to the fierce, strong, defiant Una? Turning into a spineless, sniveling useless tit was a bit of a let down. Not sure if I'll continue on with this one, although I suppose I will need to see if the character has another about face in her attitude.

Book 1 had its moments and the MMC was an interesting character, but in book 2 the MFC turned into a TSTL weakling, which made me lose any interest in reading book 3.
This book was such a ride. Sometimes I really wanted to pummel Urgan an/or Una and sometimes I just wanted to give them a big hug. There was just so much going on with them and outside of them in the broader world. But I really liked the writing. It was compact but not sparse. Fae didn't get bogged down into the minutia of what was going on. She instead painted the broad strokes with just enough detail that I was intrigued and flew through the book. But there were still plenty of details about Urgan and Una to keep me rooting for them and feeling like I understand them. And Oriana (Urgan's grandmother) is such a delightful addition. This story was put together so well I could see this being the end, but I am so happy that it isn't and there is another book to look forward to!

Although I didn't read book 1, I had no trouble piecing together the story and enjoying it. But I am using my Kindle Unlimited Subscription to grab the first book, The Orc's Bride, and reading it for FREE. This was a solid 4 star read. Urgan and Una enter the heart of the Orc's world and have to maneuver through deceit, betrayal, and manipulations by a corrupt king and his court. Urgan is a really compelling characters and is more sympathetic to his human bride Una because he is part human and has a human grandmother, Orianna. She helps Uma learn how to survive this very different and brutal world. The book is well paced, action packed, steam, and a page turner.

Book Two in the series continues to flow Urgan and Una and what happens when he rejects her in front of everyone after she defies him.
I'm going to start by saying, the premise of this book was a little ridiculous. I didn't feel like her actions warranted his rejection or everything that ensued because of it. But despite that, I loved the writing and how the author gives us a fantastic story every book.
The steam is great (as always), and we get to see a softer side of Urgan after he is mated. Una forgets who she is for the first part, showing her fear, but does remember who she is and turns that around.
This is the second of three books. The story continues with the couple, one human and one orc as they reach the capital after a harrowing trip with many attempts on their life. Things don’t change much when they reach the capital. I enjoyed the details of the capital and how the humans lived in the world with Orc’s. I enjoyed Una’s spirit as she overcame many obstacles. I guess I’m not a fan of trilogies because I forget small details that help with following along in the story, so I like to read them all at once. Although I found I could read these book in a shorter time period together.
Urgan and Una’s story expands in this second entry to the Silver Fury series with the action and subterfuges ramping up full force as Urgan’s plans for a military coup slowly unfold. In the midst of all the tensions Una is trying to adjust to the Orc way of life and being the mate of a renowned Orc General. Great writing, detailed world building with lots of romantic spice delivers a very enjoyable narrative which has me looking forward to the next entry in this thoroughly engaging read! HFN

General Urgan and Una are now in the Orc capital and intent on organising a revolution. This is a dangerous and working out who can trusted is even harder. Una meets Ugan's Grandmother, and a spoilt Orc is intent on having Ugan for herself. This is a great book two in this series. I look forward to the next book by this author.

A great continuation to this series. It picks up right where book one left off and the couple have finally reached the orc capital. This book is an exciting read as Urgan and Una are surrounded by tension, deceit, subterfuge, manipulation, and even a betrayal. Una is trying to adjust to life among all these orcs, Urgan is preparing a military coup, and there are challenges testing their mating. Great world building and characters. Looking forward to the next book. 5 stars.
This was a well paced story that has plenty of action, danger, betrayal and steam. I found, as in book 1, that the world building was very well done and it pulled me right into the story - love when that happens and I can't wait for the next book :D
I loved these two books! Mystery, betrayal, drama, love, and victory. As a teacher on Christmas break, I read the first two books in two days. Can’t wait for the third! Great read!
I very much enjoyed book one in The Silver Fury series- this one not so much. While Una was such a strong heroine in book 1, she is a much weaker heroine in this book. Now, Urgan’s Grandmother is a power house!
Loved the storyline continuation overall but the editing is lacking in the Grammar department with incorrect word choices/tenses or words being swapped causing sloppy sentence structure.
Womp womp. Female character is basically ruined in this book. Three stars and not two because there’s some redeeming at the end, but she basically loses all her spunk and fight from the first book after one fight with her new husband. Booooo 🍅 tomato tomato 🍅
I enjoyed the second book in this series and sometimes not so much, Una was sometimes reckless and sometimes she was brave but both her and Urgan had become more relenting and they both started to learn to find a grey area.
