Alexia has been an assassin for the Alliance, the vampire organization that keeps humans safe from all rogue vampires, for 800 years, and she has never met a vampire or a demon that could beat her, and that does nothing for her sex life. She longs for someone to dominate her, going to bed with a man she can defeat doesn’t appeal to her at all. However, she meets Azazel , an angel who fell in the first angelic revolt and one of Lucifer’s (or Luc to his friends) elite assassins, and sparks fly as she realizes that he may be the man she has been longing for. However, there is a group of demons on the loose and they have Alexia’s friend, and it is there job to get the demons back to hell and her friend back in one piece.
I really wanted to like this as I liked the premise and the idea of the world that Dawn McClure had created; however, I just couldn’t get myself to like any of the characters, not even the mouth wateringly hot demon Azazel. Although this was an only a novella, the characters were flat and they fell in bed and in love far too quickly and I just didn’t buy it. But the good points were that I liked the world it was set in, and the division between vampires and demons, and the demons from different revolts.
Unfortunately I just didn’t like this book and I imagine that it is one that I will forget quite quickly now that I have read it, which is a shame as I liked the general storyline, just not how it was executed.
