What is there were a deadly killer loose in Ravenwood Cove and no on knew about it... yet?
When a popular TV show comes to town and chooses Mrs. Granger's neighbor's house to remodel, it sets her off BIG TIME. Maybe the old lady is on edge because of an upcoming wedding, or maybe her age is catching up to her, but when she starts fighting for what she thinks is right, sparks fly! Amanda Landon is juggling her young family, two pets, and a bustling bed-and-breakfast business, but she's ready to help Mrs. Granger any way she can.
Even if it ticks off someone she loves, and puts her unknowingly in the way of a murderer.
I've been writing and making stories in my head as early as I can remember. In third grade I came home, set my lunchbox down, and told my mother I wanted to be a writer. Luckily, Mom was supportive.
I've been a published author for a while now, under different names and genres, but the thought of writing about a small coastal town in Oregon, and about its loves and mysteries and holidays and people has been with me for years. To be honest, I am a bit scared to dump those ideas onto the written page, but hope you'll enjoy getting to meet the people who inhabit my imagination.
In real life, I'm married with kids, live on the West Coast of the US, and own a hobby farm just outside of my favorite small town. I love to travel, and can often be found strolling down a windy Oregon beach, holding onto the string of a high-sailing dragon kite.
Carolyn Dean's Ravenwood Cove Mysteries were one of the earliest cozy series I began reading five years ago when I renewed my interest in the sub-genre. At the time, Dean was mostly starting out and we chatted many times. I'm thrilled at her growth and popularity these days, and with the latest book in the series -- Repair, Repaint and Revenge, she's created another lovely installment. These are part mystery, part small-town happenings where readers can usually sniff out the bad guy/girl and root for all the side stories to come together. In this book, Amanda is throwing a wedding for bestie Meg while running her Oregon coastal inn; several tv cast and crew are staying there for an episode of a popular home makeover show. Unfortunately, the selected home is right next door to Mrs. Granger, Amanda's pseudo-grandmother, and it's causing lots of issues. A dead body shows up and Mrs. Granger disappears. What happened? Fun, easily readable in an hour or so, and just leaves you smiling. They are super-light reads, but they are packed with charm and appeal.
Meg and Truman are getting ready for their wedding. Her mother is making her life horrible. There is a reality TV show in town to fix up a house next door to Mrs. Granger's. She is not happy about it. The show is on hold due to vandalism. Mrs. Granger goes to investigate when she sees a light on in the house next door. Now she is missing. Will the wedding happen? Will Mrs. Granger be found?
There's an influx of people when it's announced a TV show is coming to town to renovate the McBride house. Instead of returning it to it's original shape they are modernizing when stainless steel and concrete counters. Mrs. Granger organizes a protest. Lovely story, cried at the end.
“Repair, Repaint and Revenge” is an enjoyable new book in Carolyn Dean’s “Ravenwood Cove” cozy mystery series. Amanda helps a close friend prepare for a very special day. It’s nice to revisit Ravenwood Cove and the people who live there. Like a visit with a good friend.
I hope there are more books for this series in the works. I thoroughly enjoyed them all and look foreword to more adventures with Amanda and James in the future
This is my 15th book in this series. Each one gets better and better. I love how Carolyn makes these people get more in-depth. Can't wait to see what happens in 16.
This wax a beautiful story and I enjoyed every single word of it! I keep saying that these stories can not get any better but I am going to have to watch and see how the next one comes out!
The mystery plot was almost non existant in this one. Most of the book was about Amanda wandering around town meeting up with folks who had nothing to do with the plot. The mystery was centered around a home improvement show that was kinda sort filming in town. Then there was the wedding. Blah!
Quick easy read in an established series. There were a few editing issues in this one, but nothing that was damaging to the story. The mystery was not really the focus since Meg and Truman's wedding was teed up. More day-in-the-life this time than any investigations.
