Captured by a desperate lord intent on turning his fortunes around, Alys de Sant is forced to reveal her greatest secret to save her life.
Alekka is a kingdom riven with rivalries – even its gods are at war – and now, after twenty years of relative peace, the king’s enemies are emboldened, threatening to rise against him.
Shut away in a small village, Alys is oblivious to it all until she is torn from her home and family and forced to confront the dark forces at work, and her own mysterious past.
Lord Reinar Vilander is acutely aware of the king’s precarious position, for his fortress guards the bridge to Alekka’s capital. Enemies range above him, planning their attack. Enemies with dreamers capable of wielding dark magic. And a skilled dreamer is surely worth a few thousand men.
Needing to act fast to shore up his defenses, Reinar takes his ships to sea looking for slaves to sell. Slaves will earn him the silver to tempt more warriors to fight beneath his banner. Though one of the women catches his eye, and then captures his attention entirely. A beautiful woman in a green dress.
Her name is Alys.
And Alys is about to save his life.
The Lords of Alekka box-set features the first three books in this thrilling epic fantasy series (over 2000 pages!). Fast-paced and action-packed, it is a fresh delight of twists and turns, infused with magic, romance and mystery, and just the right amount of epic battles to keep you on the edge of your seat..

I live in Auckland, New Zealand, and have done for three-quarters of my life. The other quarter was spent in England, where my kids were born. I have three of those, and they’re very cool. I’m a bit demented and thought it would be a good idea to have them a year or so apart. I’m still recovering from that misguided notion, but am convinced that a month in Bora Bora would set me right!
Speaking of travelling, as much as I crave a tropical island escape, you’re far more inclined to find me hankering after snow. We don’t have any of that in Auckland – not a drop! And, although it did snow occasionally in dear old England, I’m still looking for the up-to-your-window sort of snow experience. I come from Viking stock (my grandmother was Swedish), so maybe that’s why I have always craved the cold, white stuff. In fact, my husband and I bonded over our love of scarves.
'Twas love at first discussion about the pleasure of a good scarf!
My reading journey I was drawn to historical romance as a young reader. I loved anything by the Brontë sisters, but I think Jane Austen was my favourite author at that time. It was a toss-up between Pride & Prejudice and Jane Eyre for my favourite book as a tween. As I got older and developed a real love of history, I became obsessed with anything do with Vikings. I fell in love with Bernard Cornwell and Robert Lowe, Giles Kristian, too. But there’s always been time to fit in the next Diana Gabaldon. Her Outlander series is probably my favourite series ever (great tv too!). History is my one true love, so some of my favourites lately have been C.J. Sansom’s thrilling Tudor series and Patrick O’Brien 19th century naval adventures.
I always thought I would write the Furyck Saga as a historical fiction series, but I never found a period or place where it felt possible. Ultimately, I realised that actual history was far too limiting, so I stepped away from reality and entered the wonderful world of fantasy, and that’s when the fun started…
It took me a long time to become a writer.
I have ring binders and ring binders of stories, screenplays, tv show concepts, and book ideas that I’ve been creating since I was 10-years-old. I was always very fast with ideas but seeing them all the way through was a lot harder, and eventually, as I grew up, life and work got in the way. I would try writing Winter’s Fury off and on, but I never got very far, and dissatisfied, I always gave up, telling myself there simply wasn’t enough time to fit writing in around three children, two dogs, a graphic design business, etc. etc. But what I quickly discovered is that time is what you make of it.
Inspired by an article I read about James Patterson, who got up early to write his first book and fit it in around his job, I started making writing a daily discipline; the idea being that, bit by bit, I would eventually create an actual book. At first, it was tough. It felt like I was training for a marathon and I didn’t even know how to run. But every day it got a little easier and eventually, I started to write more freely, and one day I had enough of a book to show my husband. At this point it was either, forget it again, or keep going.
Enjoyable action filled Viking style storyline. Author loves to juggle and intertwine storylines so you need to keep up and follow where she takes you. The ride is worth the effort.
I don't give easy five-star reviews... but sometimes my standards drop in certain genres if i go thru a dry spell of so-so plots. Lords of Alekka, though, is a series that made me skip lunch, stay up late, and grab the next in series like a rabid addict! No less than a 5-star rating acceptable and it satisfied every thing I look for in an awesome read. Anyone who likes LOTR will enjoy this.
Great adventure and interesting characters that keep you turning the pages with constantly new things to overcome. Lots of twist and surprises. Expertly written making everyone’s movements, quirks, personalities and locations easy to visualize. The pages come to life before your eyes. Already read her other series and read this one because I enjoyed that world so much
I simply loved these books it is that simple. As a teacher I often find it hard to really enjoy a book as I am constantly editing it as I go along. Not with these, they are incredibly well written. The characters are easy to get to know, the pace is good and plot often unpredictable. More, more, more.
An epic journey from start to finish. The Lords of Alekka box set delivers a rich fantasy world with layered characters, intense battles, and deep political intrigue. A.E. Rayne’s storytelling is immersive and well paced, making it easy to get lost in the saga. The cover is striking and captures the grand, mythical tone of the series. A must for fans of epic fantasy who love a good long read.
This is a wonderful series of books. The characters are very likeable and the magic is quite original. It is very fast paced with lots of action. I am really looking forward to the next book.
This is one of those book series you don't want to put down or for it to end. The names were a challenge at first, but it made them memorable. The Lord's with their Dreamers and the Gods who watch over them. Do the Dreamers ever really die?
Much to say, not so much time, though. So, simplest way to describe: it’s been an absolutely amazing experience for me, while I’ve lost myself in that book :)! Thank you for a great time I’ve had and, can’t wait to have some more of it again, thumbs up!
Well written, great action, and exacting drama. Is not my usual genre, but loving every page! After reading the first 3, I had to buy the next ones in the series. I can t wait to see what happens next.
Wonderfully addictive! Great read full of action, love, and heartbreak. Characters to love and hate. Redemption for some but karma for others. Highly recommend!
This was a good read. I am glad it was three books in one. This way I was able to get the series read without having to hunt for each book in the series.
This series is great after reading the first six books in the Furyk Saga this series picks up in the same world. The characters are just as epic the story just as entertaining. Read it
Lots of fun spending hours with A.E. Rayne. Had to take just one star away because the stories move along kind of slowly. Still though, no real complaints and looking forward to 4, 5, & 6!
