When you’re the created vampire, and discover your fated mate is a dominant dragon alpha, what could go wrong?
Master Ambrosius was created over a millennium ago and had come to terms with spending his life alone. He has his coven, his second, and a few close friends, but he continues to be haunted by the memory of his fated mate running from him in terror. That is, until the goddess sends him to Montana, and he discovers his body reacting to a sexy alpha with wide shoulders and dark eyes. Surely there’s some mistake though, right?
Emmerich was born on Treasure Ridge, the mountain his grandparents claimed several centuries ago for a reason that wasn’t yet known. Like his brother, he longs for his mate and children but knows they aren’t on their mountain. Emmerich’s dragon insisted he would find his mate in Sicily, but after weeks of searching, he comes back to Treasure Ridge, where his dragon scents the most amazing thing. Mate. When he discovers the scent is coming from the created vampire, he’s not sure about the pairing but is more than willing to accept the match.
Together, they discover a desire for unexpected things. But while they are happy switching roles at certain times, the council is still forming, and they discover an evilness none expected. Will they be able to stop the threat before their family is harmed?
Ambrosius is Book One in the Paranormal Council Enforcers series. Each book in this series will focus on a different couple, but these books are not standalones and should be read in order as there is an ongoing backstory that won’t be resolved quickly. This is a fated mate MPreg story in an MPreg world, and you should expect all the normal vampire shenanigans, and remember that love bites in unexpected places. Especially when your beloved is a sexy dragon.
The plot feels contrived considering the council is made up of the superpowerful among paranormals
Ok, so I’m having a very hard time suspending my disbelief with this book. We already know that the evil paranormals, who weren’t willing to accept the will of the fates, were already culled before everyone became immortal. How do child traffickers not fit that definition?
Ambrosius is supposedly flaky and flighty, and yet, there isn’t a single indication of that in his own book. And yet, at the same time, he only wears three piece suits that have no reflection on his personality, but doesn’t like to wear ties or footwear… This character was simply not very well presented, and it resulted in a jumbled mess.
How is it that the created beings, who have such vastly intimidating wells of power can’t seem to utilize said power to do anything useful? Why does Edison suddenly have this restriction that he can’t sense one of his warlocks if they are underground? Does his magic only work in a gaseous medium? Even if that’s the case, wouldn’t vents and cave mouths exist to reveal to him what he is looking for? It just doesn’t make sense that Orson has the ability to hide his aura as long as he’s still on the planet. And what does being the created vampire do for Ambrose? He’s old, sure, but we got basically no information on him having any material difference from any other vampire in the world.
There's books that can still be good once you know what happens. This one isn't one of them. It was a mistake to start a series with a book in between two other books in a separate series, in my opinion. It's more likely a person will finish a series before starting another one. By setting the order with this book between Fergus and Matteo, Ambrosius becomes spoiled and Matteo becomes confusing. And that hurts both books. I think it would've been better to either have Ambrosious as part of the beloved gem series or to start the series later in the plot, and introduce the trafficking subplot in Matteo and then bring in the council in Ambrosius (after the gem series is over). Also, it's strange that the ultra powerful of this universe are set to confusion by an enemy beyond their powers. If they're just slightly above the characters in previous series, why are the created ones so revered? And if they're more powerful, then why are they having such a tough time? Also, isn't Ambrosius supposed to be able to mind read? It sure could've come useful at some points in here if he'd remembered he had the skill.
So this book is my favorite by this author so far. Ambrosius was described in a completely different way in the Vampires of the Beloved Gem series than he was finally in this book. As a created vampire and a mate who didn't want him, Ambrosious might not be happy to be alone, but he came to terms with the situation until he meets his second chance beloved and fate chooses someone he didn't quite expect. Emmerich is really cool and I like that both of them are a bit stubborn.
This was incredibly boring to me, it could have easily been shortened. These immensely powerful beings don t actually do anything interesting or remarkable, a lot of wording and zero action. Definitely not a book I would recommend or want to read again.
I really enjoyed book 1 in this new series. I haven’t read the others set in this world, but I didn’t feel lost. I will be fixing it by going back and reading the rest. These two made a great couple and were what the other was missing in their lives.
It's been awhile since I read this book & am glad that it was released in audio. I had forgotten how sad Ambrosius was when his first beloved ran from him & he thought he would be alone forever watching everyone else getting their HEA. After he gets a whiff of Emmerich, he finds that he gets a second chance at love. These two had a bumpy start to begin with. Ambrosius wasn't happy that Emmerich is an alpha which means he would be the carrier. It was more of that he was scared, not that he didn't want children. I love all the secondary characters. I also love that they have their own piece of heaven way up in the mountains.
This book is good. Ambrosius is a created vampire who is working to form a council of paranormals and he is resigned to being alone. So he throws himself into his work of making sure the paranormals follow the rules. Emmerich is a dragon shifter who is actively looking for his mate. One day they meet by an odd circumstance and their mating takes place. All would be well except that shifters start disappearing. When the two go to investigate, they are betrayed by one of their own. I really enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to the next one.
Ambrosius is book 1 in the Paranormal Council Enforces series but is very much tied into her previous PNR series. A lot happens in this book and while there’s an HFN/HEA for our beautiful couple the intrigue and mystery side of the plot is ongoing and therefore is NOT a standalone. I loved how there was the instant “this is my fated mate connection” but it was definitely not an easy mating at the beginning and took work on both sides. Ambrosius had me tearing up, happy for them and practically yelling in anger as the larger plot plays out. Really excited to see where it all goes.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
So this is my first mpreg story. I was doing a GR's M/M Romance Members' Choice Award that's currently happening and there was a category for Best Mpreg. I obviously couldn't vote since I've never read this kind of troupe. I immediately found myself adding this title to my kindle app for my next read and then creating a new tbr list on the zon for the rest that I found interesting. I'm so glad I did. I have so many books I need to be reading but I want to move on to the next one in this series. Decisions decisions 🤔
This was very cute and exactly what I needed. I like MPREG and shifter romance and am not afraid to say it. Ambrosius was all bad*ss but next to his beloved, he was conpletely diferent, it was so cute to watch. I loved Emmerich, he protected Ambrosius and their kids with everything he had. I loved how they loved each other and I can't wait to read more from this series
Another great read by Taylor Rylan. I thought Ambrosius and Emmerich were great together. Ambrosius, the created vampire has been in existence for over a millennium and had come to terms with spending his life along, because he was given a fated mate who was a fox shifter omega who was completely terrified of Ambrosius biting him and ran away. Ambrosius is the only created being without a mate. It isn’t until Fate Thomas comes to talk to him about his mate that he knows his life is about to change no matter what he wants. It isn’t until he scents a delicious scent of his mate on his enforcer Reinhold that he freaks out and makes Edison take him off the mountain because he knows that his mate is not only a dragon shifter but an alpha as well.
Ambrosius expected an omega so he’s thrown for a loop plus he’s been alone for so long he doesn’t know how a mate is going to fit into his life. Emmerich is an alpha dragon shifter and he’s been away from the mountain for so long, as he’s been travelling the world trying to find his mate and seeing where his dragon was leading him. I loved that when Emmerich and Ambrosius are face to face for the first time they actually started talking, instead of just jumping straight into bed. I also liked that they had teething issues after they got mated, as it made them more believable. This book got them one step closer to unraveling the mystery of the warlock Orson and the traff*cked shifters and the reason why. I’m looking forward to finding out what type of shifter Ambrosius enforcer Atticus is when his book is released and I’ve already pre-ordered it. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
DNF. The style of writing took me out of it. It would change perspectives/characters within the same chapter and it was hard to keep track. I also really hated the concept that friends were forcing the vampire to find a mate and it was made like the situation was so dire. If he didn’t find them then somehow it means the world will end or things will just continue as they are?! Which apparently is the worst thing ever? It just seemed very rude and inappropriate to just be like well. You have to find a mate and that’s the only solution and what you want doesn’t matter. you have to find them and that’s it. Who cares about your past trauma, vampire, find a mate anyway. that’s how I felt to me. Was not for me.
This says nothing about being the continuation of a series but has to be. There's no listed reading order, either, so you know where to start. There's absolutely zero world building. Terms, I guess you'd know if you read the previous (and unmentioned) books, are bandied around with zero explanation. There are horrible time skips. You lose a day, you lose weeks, time is no longer linear. Good luck making sense of anything. The miscommunications are so torturedly contrived it's comical- and yet not at all funny. I wasn't unprepared for mpreg, it's mentioned in the blurb, but nothing is explained about omegas/carriers/and males who are neither and yet can become pregnant. You start off believing that the vampire half of the couple is an alpha, too. But no. He's not a carrier, either. And yet he can become pregnant just because his mate is an alpha? How??? Seriously, world building, it's a thing. Readers enjoy it. And it you want readers to actually bond with characters, maybe give us a little insight into them? Show us some emotions, bonding times, social interactions of some freaking sort. This is the the least romantic romance I've read in a long time. And it doesn't have being dark as an excuse.
While yes, I did DNF this book, I feel like I can give it an accurate rating as I slogged through over 50%. First of all, I had zero clue this was a series and based off all the side characters, hints of backstory, and lovey-dovey characters, I gotta think this is like book 100 in that series.
Okay, I told myself, this is FINE. I'm sure the main story will stand on its own.
It really, really did not. It was so cringey and the MCs just did complete 180s of their personalities within the span of 10 pages. I felt zero connection to any of them, they were boring and flat and I also hate mpreg. Had I known this would be a thing I would have never started it. Totally get that some people dig that, which is cool, I've even read it in a few books and was okay with it. But this wasn't it. So, all in all, this was a bust and I will definitely make sure to avoid this series if I ever come across the other 99 books.
I read this book as part of a challenge without realizing that this series is a spin-off from another book series. There are lots of carry over characters and plot lines, although that did not make it too difficult to track what was happening in this book. Ambrosius’ first mate left him the night they met and, somehow, nobody notices this for centuries. Ambrosius’ is the created vampire (a big deal) so you think someone would have noticed. Soon Emmerich arrives and they quickly figure out they belong together.
The world building is well done and I liked the MCs. I would have liked to see a little bit more of the side story of the bad guys were up to and find out if there are any other spies. The Emmerich’s parents are hysterical and their excitement about being grandparents was adorable.
While I enjoyed this book in the long run I was confused about many things. It almost felt like this was book 2 of the series rather than 1. It seemed that there were things that had happened before this book that we were not privy to and that caused me to feel like I was missing a lot. That being said the two main characters were adorable and seem to truly care about one another. The story itself was interesting but took a back seat to the pregnancy and relationship.
I am not sure how to review this book. I love this story but I feel like I missed 3 books. There were so many characters and as much as I like them all I'm still not sure who everyone is what they're and who they are with. It is confusing at times but I made the decision to not worry about it and focus on the main couple. Despite tue confusing nature I enjoyed the story and intend to continue with the series
I tried twice to read this book to completion but just couldn't do it. It was so boring and inane that I couldn't dredge up enough interest. The characters were sappy and there didn't appear to be any plot beyond the mate drama. No thanks. I am not continuing the series.
I read and re-read the first two chapters because so many characters were introduced so quickly that I had a hard time keeping track. Seemed like a good premise but I don't want to have to take notes on who's who to enjoy a book.
I was actually pretty disappointed with this book. It has a lot of great ingredients. I mean, it comes with dragons, warlocks, vampires, shifters... But, nothing actually really happens in the book. It could've been way shorter and I considered not finishing it a couple of times (never a good sign). And then by the end I was skimming a lot of pages.
So, let's go over some parts that really bothered me:
- Emotions in this book are really having a roller coaster ride. It's hard to explain since they do make sense in the story, but they change rather quickly. I wouldn't have minded a bit more of a build-up. The emotions slowly coming in, reaching their peak, having an outburst... But it seems the story doesn't mention the emotions until they are already on the peak. For example:
- On some parts in the story I felt there should be more emotion and more attention to things happening. Whenever a character has a strong emotion he comes down from it very quickly again. I know I just mentioned that, but in some cases there's barely any emotion at all. For example: It sort of seems like the writer does acknowledge the emotions but doesn't want to dig any deeper to them. It's very superficial and at times not believable at all.
- Some story lines are unfinished or finished very quickly with a very obvious boring reason.
- I personally don't mind at all when alphas go in protective mode. But a big part of this happens off-page and whenever it's mentioned Ambrosius is going nuts with it, I have no idea why. Because you don't actually see any of the "possessive and protective behavior" that dragons are supposed to have according to the story.
- The story itself is very boring. There aren't any direct attacks, some of the things that happen feel very random and sudden (as if the writer thought "oh this part needs some tension") and there's also parts where the writing goes like "I got up from my desk. I walked to the door and opened it. I looked in the hallway to see if I could find someone." Too much information that's not relevant or interesting at all. The story could've been like 3x shorter and I think even be done within 4 pages if only the important things are actually mentioned.
I'm not sure why so many people give this story 5 stars. Pretty much everything had so much potential and was not delivered on.
Taylor Rylan’s Ambrosius : Paranormal Council Enforcers Book One represents a new author for me as well as series. I enjoy paranormal romance fiction so I was looking forward to reading this, especially as it already has a number of books already published in the series.
Unfortunately, I believe I’m going to stop here. While there’s a few things I enjoyed about this story, they’re overshadowed by other aspects that left me feeling disconnected from the characters, underwhelmed by the plot lines, and , most importantly, uninformed about the foundation or universe itself that the story and characters are grounded in.
Taylor Rylan’s Universe of Destined Paranormals is a group of five inter-connected series and characters, of which Ambrosius is the first in the fifth series, Paranormal Council Enforcers. So there’s a lot of expectations for readers to know who everyone is and who these agencies are that they work for, this giggling goddess that just appears (not a fan), a omega/Alpha relationship that’s not well defined, especially here with one character.
This story actually ends up raising more questions than it does answer with its narrative. But quickly , the poorly crafted characters have lost my interest in their lives and this book.
That starts with the main character of Ambrosius, a made vampire. That term isn’t used in the way we’re accustomed to seeing it. Ambrosius wasn’t “turned” or made. No a goddess who comes across as a blonde bestie from your college sorority days crafted him full blown. Thirtyish looking, now over a millennium old. But how does Ambrosius act during the book? Much like a silent movie heroine, weeping, throwing himself at his mate, overwrought by emotions and the situation he is in. Surely, he’s got his own power and has learned a thing or two about weapons, or something. His character is just so ill defined. In the beginning we learned he went from being rejected by an omega because his fangs are scary to becoming an omega himself when he finds himself mate to a dragon. No explanation. Then there is basically little communication between anyone here.
There’s really little history or reason laid down for personalities. Or for reactions, or just anything in general . And the main drama, a huge criminal investigation into a shifter trafficking organization is barely explored and not finished, a thread that’s carried over to the next book.
The only other major storyline is a mpreg one that comes out of nowhere (literally) because the main character has no clue he’s pregnant. His mate and others know but don’t say anything. They assume he knows. Then he’s got kids. Then they are special. It’s a rapidly changing story without substance or grounding.
If you’re a fan of the author or any of the other series associated with this, then I’m sure you’ll enjoy it .
But other authors do this one universe, multiple connected series better and those are the ones I’ll read.

Ambrosius by Taylor Rylan is Book One in her Paranormal Council Enforcers series. It is a spin-off of her previous series so we meet many of the characters from them as this story continues and they play a prominent part in it. When it starts we find that many of them are finding their mates, Ones, or Beloveds. This is the story of Ambrosius and Emmerich. Ambrosius is the created vampire and had a Beloved many centuries before, but he ran away because he was scared to be bitten. He wasn’t expecting a mate until the Fate Thomas realized he didn’t have one and decided he needed one. Emmerich is a powerful dragon shifter and is the one the Fates sent to Ambrosius. At first he is stunned that Emmerich is an alpha because he always thought he would be sent another omega. But this time the Fates didn’t let him down because he is perfect for him. They get to know each other and as they do their loves grows, and as in all of the other stories, a pregnancy occurs. While the love story develops there is an ongoing backstory concerning the Created Paranormals and what is happening in the outside world. They have come to the mountain to create the Council that will see to this and help with any problems that occur. They are also looking for enforcers to protect them, and several of these such as Lucius, Ambrosius’s second, Atticus, his body guard, and Reinhold, Emmerich’s brother and enforcer play a huge part in the book. It has been discovered that there is something going on in New Orleans where someone, or a group of someones, is stealing and selling other paranormals and they council needs to find out who it is and stop them. They are having a difficult time because there are so many hiding places in the area where the Createds can’t sense them. It comes to a head when Ambrosius and his unborn babies are threatened and it was found out that someone on the mountain was helping them. I really enjoyed this book, as I have with the rest of the ones in the previous series. I like how characters from them make an appearance and help out the main characters and their family members add to the fun and frustration. There are a lot of love scenes that help develop the feelings between Ambrosius and Emmerich and the addition of the babies adds to the emotions. It also contains a lot of action through what was happening in New Orleans as well as on the mountain. Ms. Rylan has a very interesting take on paranormals and has created a wonderful world for them that makes you want to keep reading about them. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to the next one in the series to find out if they can find the culprit who is doing these bad things, as well as I really want to know just what kind of paranormal Atticus is!
