Lynn Shannon is a Publishers Weekly bestselling author of inspirational romantic suspense.
After moving from Texas to Greece, Lynn turned her passion for reading into a love of writing. She lives with her husband, two children, an extremely spoiled dog, and a pair of chirpy lovebirds. Experiencing life in a new country has introduced her to delicious foods—like Yemista and Kourabiedes—which now share a place on her favorites list alongside pecans and Blue Bell ice cream. She also never passes up coffee, chocolate, or the chance to watch cute animal videos.
This was our second buddy read for December. It was pretty good for a novella and I liked the twist and this whole story was pretty well done in my opinion. I prefer novels to novellas because I get invested in the story on a higher level, but this was also a good way to entertain myself and I would recommend it.
Christmas Danger starts out ominously with Holly all alone at night in a parking lot...or she thinks she is. Bwahahahaha! Cue the creepy music 'cause a thrilling stalkerish vibe fuels the angst in this fast paced novella.
Love that social worker Holly and Police Chief Aiden already have a working relationship and, truth be told, both harbor secret feelings for the other. Holly's situation throws them together pretty much 24/7 which allows ample time for those hidden feelings to spill into the light. And while Holly's over-the-top festive spirit might irk Aiden's Grinchy side, it isn't long before his heart grows three sizes for both the holidays and Holly!
I'm honestly not familiar with reading novellas so maybe I'm being overly judgemental about the lack of connection with the characters, lack of character development, and rushed romance that happened to drip with super saccharine dialogue/descriptions. I know I sound like Mr. Grinch, but Holly and Aiden knew each other for 6 months, fell in LOVE within a handful of DAYS, and decided on marriage and babies soon after. Idk, it's a choice. Another MAJOR con is that I didn't even recognize the mastermind behind all the attacks on Holly. Lol. I still have no idea when said mastermind previously appeared in the story. I guess brownie points for having an unpredictable plot twist? Idk, that was kind of a "yikes" moment for me. I also didn't like the perpetrator's comical monologue that was ALL telling, rather than showing. Idk, what can you expect from a novella that is only ~100 pages? Overall, despite my qualms, this wasn't terrible. Maybe Holly didn't have to be such a damsel in distress. Maybe we could've done without the religious prose. And maybe this mystery/thriller could've incited more group discussions, as the genre usually does. But this story was decent enough and many of us appreciated that it was fast-paced, relatively gripping, and action-packed. Anyway, onto the next read!
Holly Miller cares about people and is always giving of her time to help others. Her sense of safety is shattered when someone attacks her outside her church. Police Chief Aiden James takes care of the people of his town. He vows to protect Holly and find the person or people responsible. This is a sweet Christmas novella with a mystery. You will see the dark side of humanity as well as the light side of humanity in those that give more than they get. It was very clean and very easy to read. Lynn Shannon is a great mystery writer. If you like a good, clean mystery with a little romance mixed in you will enjoy this novella.
Lynn Shannon is a new-to-me author and I’ve found I truly enjoyed reading her book. She has a way of bringing the reader into the story that is very captivating. I was captivated from the very first page until the end and I thought I knew who the bad guy really was, but NO, I was wrong. Boy, can this author twist things around so you really must finish the story just to breathe! She also wove beautiful examples of God's love throughout this book. There was suspense, action, drama, some humor, and a bit of romance . . . well, maybe more! I think I’ll need to find more books written by Lynn Shannon. I highly recommend you pick this one up. I was given this book by the author which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was pleasantly surprised by this novella. It was a very good read. Though short, it was easy to get quickly attached to Holly and Aiden. It had a lot of suspense for such a short story, and even though I read a lot of suspense and frequently figure them out, I did not figure out this ending ahead of time. It was a very good twist. I also like the fact that though this is a Christian Romantic suspense story, the Christian elements were fairly subtle, not “in your face”. The fact that both of them were church goers, prayed before meals and so on was presented as everyday ordinary, not as something showy or making you feel judged if you didn’t happen to pray before meals or go to church or sing in a choir. I look forward to reading the others in this series.
"Danger can lurk in the most innocent of places ... Holly Miller is seeking a fresh start, but when she narrowly escapes a vicious attack days before Christmas, she's forced to face the truth- someone is stalking her."
Holly has lived in the small town of Cutler for six months. Her work is meaningful, and she likes being a part of the community. But suddenly she does not feel safe anymore. Can she figure out who wants to harm her? Will the kind police chief be able to help her?
This romantic suspense is book one in a series of Christmas romantic suspense books - the Hazardous Holidays series by Lynn Shannon. Faith is an important part of the storylines. All three books are set in the same small town with some overlapping characters. This prequel was originally part of the Mistletoe and Murder collection. I really enjoyed this book, and it did make me want to read the rest of the series.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT Danger can lurk in the most innocent of places…
Holly Miller is seeking a fresh start, but when she narrowly escapes a vicious attack days before Christmas, she’s forced to face the truth—someone is stalking her.
Police Chief Aiden James takes pride in protecting the citizens of his hometown. The attack on Holly bothers him in more ways than one, especially since the beautiful social worker has slipped past his defenses and into his heart.

MY TAKE Another short Christmas read with romance mixed with a mystery. And a nice twist.
I love this author's writing. There is a lot of suspense in this story from beginning to end as Aiden tries to discover who threatened Holly and why. At the same time their mutual attraction to each other grows but can they take the next step from friendship to romance - and more importantly will the person threatening Holly let her live? Thoroughly enjoyable story. I received an ARC of this book but voluntarily and happily leave this review.
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my honest and voluntary opinion. Holly Miller who is a new social worker in town is assaulted just before Christmas. Police Chief Aiden James takes it upon himself to be her personal protector. Both have trust issues, him because he was left at the altar and she because of her parents marital problems. They both have to decide if a relationship is what they want to pursue. The danger Holly is in adds additional problems.
Christmas Danger was a fast-paced novella, and I enjoyed every minute of it! Holly and Aiden had been friends for a while, resisting their feelings for each other, and I loved watching them chose to overcome their past hurts and give their love a chance. Lynn Shannon keeps you on your toes trying to guess who the "bad guy" is, and I didn't even see this one coming. Another fantastic book!
Holly and Aiden are likeable characters who have good connection and chemistry, I liked the respect they had for each other and their trust in their faith and one another. I thought the story flowed well, had good twists and turns, pasts to be dealt with, family, friends, suspense and being brave enough to take a chance on love. This short story held my attention from start to finish.
Why threaten a social worker at Christmas? That's the mystery Aiden & Holly have to solve. I didn't figure out the mystery. I have read several of Ms. Shannon's works & she is a very good suspenseful writer. I recommend her mysteries. I enjoy the way she crafts her stories. I was given a copy of this book. This is my voluntary opinion.
Great suspense, great characters! If you like fast action and surprising twists, you'll enjoy this book. Ms Shannon has created an instant Christmas classic with more to come. Got to stop before I give anything away, I don't want to ruin this for anyone, just know you won't be disappointed with This book!
This is a book full of danger, intrigue, suspense and romance. Holly helps people so why is she bing attacked? Who is lurking in the shadows? Police Chief Aiden James comes across Holly immediately after she has fled from her attacker. Will Aiden be able to keep Holly safe from the danger that follows?
Loved it!!! The romance was so sweet and well developed. Really liked how the hero was trying to protect the heroine. The mystery was so suspenseful and following the clues about who it was kept me guessing. A great read. Looking forward to book 2.
Such a great book & the story is so well-written! No spoilers here though. The cast of characters are very interesting and I was surprised by the reveal of Holly's stalker. Plus, Faith is first and foremost. Refreshing!
During the hot summer days occasionally I need a Christmas read. This book was just what I needed. Usually I can figure out the mastermind behind crime but this novella surprised me. A good quick read.
I really enjoyed this story which was exciting and intriguing with an unexpected ending. A great combination of suspense and romance. Although set at Christmas time, it could be read at any time throughout the year.
Written by Lynn Shannon, a Christian Romantic Suspense. I enjoyed this novella and hope she has more coming out. A sweet love story and a sweet ending. I recommend it to anyone.
I love this Christmas time suspense and sweet romance book. The characters and the setting are enjoyable. The story is fast moving. The ending is happy. It's an entertaining book!
Short suspense story with good pacing until the end. Then the relationship moved unrealistically fast in my opinion. Clean. Lots of talk about turning things over to God.
Fortunately I read several reviews and found out this was a novella. Otherwise I might have been disappointed. The story was cute with a little mystery and an unexpected twist at the end.
