Lovely and personal look into the life of a WW1 soldier

This book is a fictionalized account of the time the author's grandfather spent in WW1. David Muir blended the Scots dialect, French, and German into the dialog, which felt realistic and honest. I enjoyed this book very much. The main character was a thoroughly good man of great integrity, and it was a pleasure to see him work his way through adversity.

The work of talented, enthusiastic amateur who has turned a family story into a readable and historically accurate novel. not great literaature, not revealing history but a heart warming tale.

I enjoyed reading the story especially the end where the author goes into detail about the history of it all would definitely recommend it
